Show Notes

Babe, wake up! It's time for the Continental Classic! Fresh off a violent Full Gear, Dynamite kicks the annual round robin tournament off with four huge matches and high drama already! Elsewhere, the tournament to crown Women's Tag Team Champions chugs along with the Babes of Wrath battling The Sisters of Sin in the semi-finals and Toni Storm announces her and Mina's stipulation for their own semi-final next week. Plus, Samoa Joe gets a championship celebration which was of course disrupted by everyone's favorite enemies to lovers, Swerve and Hangman! Oh yeah, and this happened on Thanksgiving Eve. We all love a holiday themed wrestling show, don't we folks?

Gather round, tis time for the annual lighting of the holiday fuse.

[00:00:07] Speaker A: In the beginning, the earth was a dark, formless void. But then God spoke and said, let there be wrestling. And with that, there was Monday, and wrestling happened on Mondays. And God looked upon her works and said, holy shit, that's a lot of racism in video packages. On the second day, God got depressed, and lo, did she post about it on the DVD VR forums. And with that, there was Tuesday. On the third day, God said, let there be Wednesday. And lo, did the people reply unto her. We know what that means. [00:00:57] Speaker B: And welcome back to Wednesday night Fake Fights, where we talk all things aew. Sweet. We are in. [00:01:04] Speaker C: You pick it up. No, go ahead. [00:01:09] Speaker B: I don't know. Go ahead. [00:01:13] Speaker C: We're not having an EDM party. It's fine. [00:01:16] Speaker B: No, we're here in Nashville, the home of people from Nashville. And we are back. [00:01:24] Speaker A: Home of tna. [00:01:25] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. With no Jeff Jarrett on the card. That's not right. Oh, yeah. He should be there. Every time I just stole over, people got entirely quick. Sick of it like that with mjf. Real fast. [00:01:39] Speaker A: Yeah. I was like, what's that happen? It's like, all right. [00:01:41] Speaker B: It was. There was good stuff. It was fun for a little bit where he was. [00:01:45] Speaker C: He had me. He had me for a bit there. [00:01:47] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:01:48] Speaker C: I was all the way down. It was. It was his world. [00:01:50] Speaker A: And then they. They had the whole thing where MJF called his wife a. And I was like, nope. [00:01:55] Speaker B: Yeah, it got, like, weirdly, like, problematic really quick. Like, they both started saying in promos. I was like, this isn't fun to watch. Like, well, I feel like. [00:02:05] Speaker C: I don't know. I get the feeling Jeff Jarrett, like, pulled himself, like, hey, look, you should call my wife a whore. [00:02:11] Speaker B: Yeah, he was. It was for the Heat, obviously, but, yeah, it is. Totally. I think it lost a lot of people. [00:02:17] Speaker A: Thanks, Jeff. [00:02:18] Speaker C: Jerry Heat, though. I think he's got a hot wife thing. [00:02:21] Speaker A: There was just too much 79. [00:02:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Formally. Formally carrying Angle. Right. [00:02:25] Speaker A: There was just too much 79 stink on it. They went too far. [00:02:29] Speaker B: Yeah. That was. Yeah, that was Kurt Angle's wife. [00:02:31] Speaker A: Yes. [00:02:31] Speaker B: I'm still right. Yeah. It's like that ship. It felt like it should have been a TNA storyline, but was actually happening in reality. [00:02:42] Speaker A: Wrestling. Wrestling get away from cuckolding storylines Challenge. [00:02:48] Speaker C: Never. [00:02:49] Speaker B: Never. Yeah. It's in its blood. Jim Cornette spurted it in there, and it's existed there since the age. Yeah. [00:02:56] Speaker C: Guys ever heard of Green? [00:02:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:59] Speaker C: He's just really down for it. [00:03:02] Speaker A: You see, you got this chair, and that's wrestling all over. [00:03:06] Speaker C: Who doesn't love a chair. Come on, man. You know what I'm talking about. I see you over there. [00:03:14] Speaker B: This guy gets onto the actual wrestling like that we're talking about now, though it is. It's the start of the Continental Classic, which is one of my favorite times in a. I'm a tournament, girly. I love it. It's my stuff. And Ryan Robbins are the best. [00:03:30] Speaker C: It's simply the most wonderful time of the year. [00:03:33] Speaker A: It really is. [00:03:34] Speaker B: Every one of them has delivered. Like, there hasn't been really, like. I think the lowest point was the first one having Jay Lethal in it. You know, he wasn't bad like, there. Mostly it's all excellent. [00:03:45] Speaker C: Yeah. There was a bit of like, let's round it out here. [00:03:48] Speaker B: Yeah. You gotta have pin eaters. And in there. [00:03:50] Speaker A: Yeah. They were like, jay Lethal, you're eating pins. Okay. [00:03:55] Speaker B: But like this. Honestly, of these lineups, there's really not anybody who fits that role. Like, I kind of thought Kevin Knight was gonna be. But as we'll get into later, maybe I was wrong. Yeah. So they start off talking about the Continental Classic. Excalibur runs down the car. We got a few matches for it on here. They do a little recap video of the whole Don family. Don family callous. Don Callis family family. [00:04:19] Speaker C: The Don family callous. [00:04:21] Speaker B: It's a two edible Thursday. Yeah. [00:04:24] Speaker C: Yeah. Happy holidays. [00:04:28] Speaker B: Yeah. All the issues they had with the trio, the Lucha trios matched. And the friction happening with Okada and Takeshita and then Fletcher also blaming them for losing. We talked about all this on the Patreon. Yeah. Sign on up. Yeah. That all leads to them entering into the Continental Classic. So we get Excalibur running down the rules of it, too. They're trying to actually. Might as well pull the lineup up. Yeah. [00:04:55] Speaker C: I know that probably helps because the very first match was the one that was like, oh, we're as a doozy. [00:05:02] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh. [00:05:03] Speaker B: Assuming Google AI is accurate, which, of course, it has to be. The Gold League is. The stuff can't be flawed in any way. Not destroying our brains. [00:05:13] Speaker C: You can't wind it. [00:05:14] Speaker B: Public Gold League is Okada, Darby, Allen, pac, Kevin Knight, Speedball. Mike Bailey and Kyle Fletcher. And the Blue League is Tesha Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Orange Cassidy, Mascara Dorada, and Roderick Strong, who was replacing an injured Kyle Fletcher or not Kyle Fletcher. Kyle Orion. Sorry. [00:05:32] Speaker C: Yes. I can't get over this lineup. Just. [00:05:37] Speaker B: No, it's all hitters. [00:05:38] Speaker A: Like, it's really stacked. Yeah. [00:05:41] Speaker C: I feel like it's. It's. Yeah, it's absolutely stacked in a way this has never been. [00:05:45] Speaker B: Every matchup is exciting and I want. I'm really pumped to see it. Like, there's storyline implications throughout. Like, literally, when this is. [00:05:52] Speaker A: We're. [00:05:52] Speaker B: We're recording this on a Thursday. Collision's on after this with Roderick Strong and Konosuke Takasha. I like, that's already just. [00:06:00] Speaker A: That's. Yeah, that's just an opening match for both guys. And like. [00:06:07] Speaker B: That'S on a collision. Like. [00:06:09] Speaker A: Yeah, that's on a Thanksgiving collision. [00:06:11] Speaker B: Thanksgiving. Yeah. An off night collision. I think they got speedball versus somebody tonight too. Speedball. Yeah. Speed versus. Yeah. That's amazing. Also. [00:06:21] Speaker C: That reminds me, though, it is Thanksgiving, so you probably wondering what that egg is over on the side of the stage. Don't worry about it. It's gonna be a big surprise for later. I'm just saying. [00:06:34] Speaker B: Yeah, Another failed promotional tactic. [00:06:38] Speaker C: Yeah, it's not a Guerrero. [00:06:42] Speaker B: No, we couldn't afford Chavo. He charges like 500 bucks an appearance. [00:06:48] Speaker C: Ever since he did. Ever since I did that Mountain Goats video, he's got a big head. [00:06:53] Speaker B: Okay, which one? Seeing. [00:06:57] Speaker C: He was in the video for travel Guerrero. [00:06:59] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, I didn't. I forgot that was about. He does a lot of stuff. He was in Glow. He did all the, like, wrestling. He does wrestling coordination for, like, movies and TV shows that like. Oh, that was. [00:07:12] Speaker C: That's Chavo Jr. Yes. I was talking about the. [00:07:15] Speaker B: Yeah, I know. No, yeah, the one that was actually in the. Was the gobbledygooker. Was Hector Guerrero, too, I think. I don't. This is before my knowledge time. [00:07:24] Speaker C: I couldn't remember which. Which Guerrero. [00:07:27] Speaker A: I can't believe Hector Guerrero cracked his egg at survival. [00:07:33] Speaker C: There's a trailblazer. [00:07:35] Speaker B: This stuff's starting off hot. The first match of this show and the first match of the Con Classic is Kyle Fletcher versus Okada. I mean, well, this is already a dream, man, you know, Which I'll. Going into this match is only one of two people that have pinfall victories over Okada, and it was in the last Continental Classic. Yep. [00:07:54] Speaker A: I remember that match. That. That last year's match was incredible. [00:07:58] Speaker B: Yeah, that's the. That really, like, established Kyle. [00:08:01] Speaker A: Yeah, because, like, he beat. He didn't just beat Okada, he beat Okada, like, clean as a sheet. Like. [00:08:06] Speaker B: Yeah. In a tournament, which is like Okada's. That's his arena. Like, he is a. [00:08:14] Speaker C: They're literally fighting for his belt. Yeah. [00:08:18] Speaker A: The Continental Classic is really up there with G1 for sure. [00:08:24] Speaker B: Maybe not to the Same level of. [00:08:26] Speaker A: Prestige in its second year. It's exactly as prestigious as the G1 Climax. [00:08:32] Speaker B: It was kind of almost feels like it was created for Okada too. Like, seriously, I don't know. We got to do. Yeah, we might as well do. Round robin tournament. [00:08:40] Speaker A: It's like, yeah, you can, you can, you can beat Shono. We promise. [00:08:46] Speaker C: I still, I stand by it. We're gonna spend this whole episode doing it. But just like one of the better things to happen American wrestling to be like, we should have a G1. [00:08:57] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll have a G1 and we'll call it the C2. And we'll spend like one year of people pretending that nobody and nobody understands numbers in sports. Like, yes, sports fans don't know numbers. [00:09:10] Speaker B: It does lead to a really nice stretch of in ring wrestling tv. There's like, you know you're gonna get like, what is it? Three or four weeks of just consistent bang. Like two or three great singles matches. Pretty much every dynamite and collision. [00:09:25] Speaker A: Yeah, like, like, it's, it's. It's actually like they really. I don't want to say it's like coasting, but it's kind of like coasting. Like, you don't need to book really complicated TV shows. You just be like, look, here's the match. Here's. Here's the tournament match of the week. [00:09:45] Speaker C: Here's two of our. Here's two of our best guys going at it with rules. [00:09:50] Speaker B: And like, this one, it's. It feels like it's a foregone conclusion who the finalists are going to be. It's going to be probably Okada and Takeshita. They're in opposite blocks, like, but I think they can still tell us some fun stories throughout this. [00:10:02] Speaker A: It's like, I mean, this tournament probably has more actual active story lines in it. [00:10:08] Speaker B: Yeah, there's this, like, there's the Don Callis family stuff. There's. Next week we have Claudio versus Mox, which, you know, is going to be some Death Rider story stuff going down. [00:10:17] Speaker C: As soon as I saw Mox in there, I was like, oh, God. [00:10:22] Speaker B: Yeah. Especially just Mox is on such a, like, tear with like a great character run and like, tremendous story work throughout. [00:10:30] Speaker C: But also like the losing streak and is like, does that carry over? [00:10:36] Speaker B: How's that going? [00:10:37] Speaker C: Well, they got. They got rid of his. Got rid of his bang. They got rid of the bang of his ankle's existence. Kyle O'Reilly, like, it's just like we take him out and then I feel. He feels a lot better about the. [00:10:47] Speaker A: Whole situation got a little swagger back. Yeah. [00:10:52] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:10:54] Speaker A: You're my Terry Funk impersonation. [00:10:56] Speaker C: I'm not gonna get kicked out of my own gang. You. [00:11:00] Speaker A: The work continues. [00:11:02] Speaker C: I think we're gonna have to kill this guy, Marina. [00:11:08] Speaker B: All right. People are like. Yeah, people are super into this match. Like, right off, they don't even lock up. They just get instant holy chance. This crowd was. [00:11:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:17] Speaker B: Throughout was very enthusiastic. Like, they didn't really let up on anything. [00:11:22] Speaker A: I. I love. It was. It was a classic heel versus heel match where like, they open with they, like, all handshake and they both try and kick each other on the balls. Ah, yeah. This is like classic, like, bullet club stuff. [00:11:44] Speaker C: Both in the Don Callis family. And it's like, we're both going to cheat. It's nothing personal. This is what we do, you know, we understand. [00:11:52] Speaker B: Well, they did that too later on with the. The spots where they both shove Rick Knox into the rope. Yeah. I think, like, first Kyle was up and Okada just boots Rick Dax in the butt into the ropes and knocks him down. And then, like. [00:12:07] Speaker C: And the turns around, like, I'm so sorry. [00:12:09] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, he was. He did the best digging off I've ever seen. [00:12:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:12:13] Speaker B: Theatrical, so. [00:12:15] Speaker C: Well, he is fantastic. Yeah. Then right when you get back from the commercial, Kyle does it to him. It's just like. Yeah, yeah. This is good storytelling right here. [00:12:27] Speaker B: During the commercial, we got the Nigel line of I wonder what. Bryan Danielson's Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. He's probably gonna have some French cheese. [00:12:34] Speaker A: A bit of Brie, A little Brie on the side. [00:12:37] Speaker B: Yeah. Thank you. [00:12:40] Speaker C: I missed that. [00:12:41] Speaker B: Yeah, it was during the commercial break. Yeah, yeah. He throws his and jokes in when it's off air. [00:12:50] Speaker C: I miss that entirely. [00:12:53] Speaker B: Yeah. Nigel always kind of like, gets in there with the double entendres. [00:12:57] Speaker A: And especially when it's Danielson, he likes. [00:13:00] Speaker C: To have a little fun. He's. Yeah, he's a cheeky monkey. And. And Danielson's a clam digger, so sometimes he's. [00:13:08] Speaker A: Yeah. Clam digger. [00:13:09] Speaker B: Yeah. I was gonna say, I love having Danielson in commentary, but it's nice when you get Nigel on a dynamite because he gets to. With Excalibur a little bit too. [00:13:20] Speaker C: Switch it up. I like the variety. Oh, I missed Taz. [00:13:24] Speaker A: I miss Taz. [00:13:25] Speaker B: I do, too. Yeah. [00:13:26] Speaker C: Because that being said, in. In the. You imagine the handbag Joneses, we would. [00:13:31] Speaker B: Have gotten far less commentary notes now that he's not here. Like, now I'll have one or two lines of commentary Per episode. I'll write down when tabs are there. It's like, every match, I have, like, two or three things written down. That was hilarious. [00:13:43] Speaker C: There was a Yambang's Jones Kata. Come on. [00:13:46] Speaker A: I mean, even with, like, Danielson, Like, Danielson is more just, like, he'll say something ridiculous. [00:13:52] Speaker B: Yeah, he's a weird dude. [00:13:53] Speaker A: Like, he'll point out or, like, Daniel Danielson's good on commentary for pointing out, like, absurd inconsistencies. It's like, this is Wrestling clothes. [00:14:09] Speaker B: Is very legitimately funny. He's a funny dude. Like, all the stuff with the pair back in the day, like, you can tell he's just a weird person. Very, very entertaining to be around. They do some cool here, too. Kind of hits a, like, apron hung DDT on the. Kyle on the floor gets a. This is awesome. Chan. After that. Yeah. [00:14:29] Speaker C: There's a whole series of Okada trying to get that goddamn rainmaker on it. [00:14:35] Speaker B: Yeah, they did some great, like, counters with it. [00:14:38] Speaker A: My fit, that was actually my favorite spot of the match, was, like, Okada, he gets, like, the. He gets a big shotgun drop kick, tombstone, and then he's going for the rainmaker. And Kyle counters it into a Michinoku driver, which is probably my highlight of the match. [00:14:55] Speaker B: It was such a smooth Michinoku driver. It was beautifully done. [00:14:59] Speaker A: Buttery, smooth Michinoku driver. [00:15:01] Speaker C: The. The look on Okada's face of like. Like, just day. He had that look of like, did you see. Did they get the license on that truck? Just like. Like, I know I need to have my shoulders off the ground, but outside of that, I don't know what's going on. [00:15:18] Speaker A: On. [00:15:21] Speaker B: Another good one where it was a back. Like a Kyle went for a backslide, and Okada slid, like, rolled over through it and pulled him up into the rain maker. Like, these guys just. They worked very well together. [00:15:32] Speaker A: Yep. [00:15:32] Speaker C: Holy hell. Oh, yeah. I'm into it. I'm so. I got. I love the Continental Classic so much. [00:15:40] Speaker B: The Continental Classic. [00:15:41] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:15:43] Speaker B: It's the Continental Classic Adam Scott face. [00:15:48] Speaker C: Oh, my God. I wonder if. I wonder if Tony Khan knew that was gonna happen. That feels like a very special IWC creation. [00:16:00] Speaker B: Tony Cotton does seem like a dude who watches Step Brothers. [00:16:04] Speaker C: That's what you see. [00:16:06] Speaker B: I could see that being his sense of humor very much. [00:16:11] Speaker C: What if in three years, we got people doing the Catalina Wine Mixer, but the Continental Classic book it? [00:16:17] Speaker B: We just become best friends? [00:16:18] Speaker C: I. I don't know. You gotta give the people what they want. Let's hug it out, Tony. I Know he listened. [00:16:24] Speaker B: Yeah. Like you're saying lots of counters here. It ends up the finish is okay. Goes for the rainmaker and Kyle catches it into a roll up and gets like the flash three count pin on a minute, which still protects Okada, but definitely gives Kyle that of. You know, I'd say maybe not upset because Kyle's still featured, but it's a big win for him. [00:16:44] Speaker C: Well, this is also the. Isn't this the second time he's beaten him in the Continental Classic? [00:16:49] Speaker A: Yep. Two years in a row now. [00:16:51] Speaker B: You know, kind of does have some like facial expressions go like he looks furious for a minute there. [00:16:58] Speaker C: He does not look pleased about his opening the opening match of his tournament. You know, he gets his tournament. [00:17:06] Speaker B: Yeah, they're doing good storyline stuff here. This, this moves things along with that whole day. And to me, like the Okada Tesha, Kyle Fletcher little love triangle is one of my favorite things going in AEW right now. [00:17:19] Speaker C: All the power players are of the family are. Are pissed at each other basically. [00:17:25] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:17:26] Speaker A: And meanwhile he Sarah is there. Sure he Sarah is there with his million dollars. But like, but guys, a million dollars? Why are you mad? [00:17:38] Speaker C: Made so much money. How could you be upset? [00:17:42] Speaker B: Lance Archer is over in New Japan teaming with Alex Zane right now. [00:17:46] Speaker A: Monster Sauce is back. [00:17:49] Speaker B: That's a fun tag team. It really is. And it always makes me want to eat Taco Bell. Yeah. [00:17:58] Speaker C: No, I'll just say it doesn't take much for me. Why don't you Taco Bell. [00:18:01] Speaker A: That's fair. Yeah. [00:18:03] Speaker B: Don gets in and he does get Kyle and Okada to shake hands and he raises both their hands. But there's definitely some like angry facial expressions and discontentment being expressed. [00:18:13] Speaker C: Yeah, fine. [00:18:16] Speaker B: Yeah. The Don Callis family is fine. [00:18:20] Speaker A: Iron sharpens iron. [00:18:24] Speaker B: That's. Don Callis was on commentary and sold that whole thing throughout very well. [00:18:29] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:29] Speaker B: Yeah. We get a full gear recap video of the whole Million Dollar Trios match full. And the Bucks and you know, join up with Kenny and everything. They go backstage with Lexi Nair at Kenny Omega's dressing room. He gets Kenny to come out and ask if Kenny and the Bucks are reunited. Kenny says that it's complicated, that he's done a lot of and can't really judge other people for doing a lot of which is true. I like when people acknowledge like, no, I like in wrestling when people acknowledge like, yeah, I was a fucking heel too. Like I worked Dog House. I fucking killed people with a mop covered in barbed wire. [00:19:06] Speaker C: Who hasn't done some heel come on. [00:19:10] Speaker A: Who hasn't tried to blow up Jon Moxley and Eddie Kids. [00:19:13] Speaker B: Yeah. I was gonna say I was involved in the worst exploding K ring match ever. [00:19:18] Speaker A: Well, the good man. That's the. That's the point. Tried to blow them up. [00:19:22] Speaker B: Right. [00:19:24] Speaker A: It was an attempted murder. [00:19:26] Speaker B: Trying to cover Max and look all heroic and just like sparklers are going off around them like that killed everything between them. [00:19:34] Speaker A: Yeah. That's all anybody remembers about that match. Unfortunately. [00:19:38] Speaker B: They've really never had them interact again after. Maybe they have, but. Yeah, not as very good. Yeah. Kenny says if everyone can accept him back after all the stuff he's done, he says maybe the Bucks deserve a second chance. Kenny goes back into the locker room and then the Bucks saunter on out of Kenny's locker room and give a little what's up to Alexi Nair. And apparently things are going pretty good between the Elite again. [00:20:01] Speaker A: Yeah. Not. You can tell that they're not fully back together because Kenny made them do the walk of shame back to their locker room. This was also the one that prompted the most blue sky of post. Those blue sky posts of. Well, well, well. If it isn't the blowjob. [00:20:21] Speaker B: I did see that quite a bit. I'm really happy with reforming the Elite though. Like it's been. It's. They'll fill like kind of the vacuum on the face side of groups that's been forming a little bit. [00:20:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:35] Speaker B: Talk about on the Pay per View show there's a lot of heel factions right now. Like kind of at least. [00:20:41] Speaker A: And that's. I think by the end of the episode. Like that's very evident. Like especially on this one. It's. They do. Well, we'll get to that. [00:20:51] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Next we got. They do a little recap of Mark and Kyle's match. Mark Briscoe winning the TNT Championship and like one of my favorite matches of the year. Incredibly good no disqualification showdown. [00:21:04] Speaker C: I talked about it on Patreon a bit. I still. [00:21:07] Speaker B: We ranted about it on Patreon because. [00:21:09] Speaker C: I don't think it was as good as their first one. [00:21:12] Speaker B: But I can see that argument. But I loved it. [00:21:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:21:17] Speaker B: Craziness. [00:21:18] Speaker A: I mean if we're ranking Briscoe Fletcher matches my favorites easily their C2 match last year. [00:21:24] Speaker B: That's fair. [00:21:25] Speaker C: Yeah. Oh, I don't even remember that one. [00:21:28] Speaker B: I really got really good. I could revisit those tournaments. [00:21:31] Speaker C: I forgot Briscoe was in the C2 last year. [00:21:35] Speaker B: Yeah. This is a really good like little. He gives a good little like baby face. Promo here he says there's no words after winning the belt. He talks about his family and losing his brother, Jay Brisco. Yes, indeed. He says he had to make Jay proud and he had tons of failures and disappointments leading up to it. But the end, this belt is for his home family, his road family, the conglomeration all of Delhi. Delaware is basically everyone is life. And yeah, he's just a very like grateful, happy promo and even gets a big pop from the crowd people love. [00:22:07] Speaker A: It's the. The highest honor that's ever been bestowed upon Delaware for ever. [00:22:13] Speaker B: This is the only thing I associate with Delaware is the Briscoes. I have no other thoughts. [00:22:18] Speaker C: There's like dogfish head beer and Joe Biden. [00:22:21] Speaker B: Is he from Delaware? I thought he was from Vermont. [00:22:23] Speaker A: He was the senator from Delaware. I. Because. All right, so like Erica Lore. I went to high school in Delaware. I lived in Philly, but I went to high school in Delaware. And the. It was like super Catholic school, all boys. And like I remember like even like all the. All the teachers were just like, oh, we love Joe Biden. He's such a good man. [00:22:50] Speaker B: Yeah. A New England, like Catholic school. I imagine he's just graded up there. That's our boy. That's a. That's representative. [00:22:58] Speaker A: He's such a good man. But now, now they're saying that about Mark Briscoe. [00:23:04] Speaker B: Yeah, damn right. [00:23:06] Speaker C: Because it's a good boy. [00:23:07] Speaker A: That chicken Mark Briscoe. Mark Briscoe never fell down the stairs. Actually, he probably has. [00:23:14] Speaker B: Yeah. He's been intentionally so. [00:23:17] Speaker A: Intentionally so. [00:23:19] Speaker C: I don't know about fall. I've been thrown like. Yeah. [00:23:25] Speaker B: The next step is the sisters of Sin vs Babes of Orath Egg team tournament semi final. And as they're doing the entrances, there is somebody in the crowd with a fan that says, wrestling is gay. Let's make it gayer. Which they get a very nice. I got. I was thinking that as the episode image I'm gonna send it, I took got a few different shots of it. [00:23:47] Speaker C: Please do, please do. That's up for consideration. [00:23:51] Speaker A: Oh man. This was a gay ass episode. [00:23:54] Speaker B: And the person holding the fan did a perfect like fan out as the camera, bro. It was just very like, you know, just beautiful little crowd shot like that. [00:24:01] Speaker C: They knew what they were up to. [00:24:03] Speaker A: There were lots of screen grabs of that fan with her fan fanning it up with. I think that's Effie. Effie Merch, I believe. [00:24:13] Speaker B: Yeah. Effie has a bunch of wrestling as gay stuff. But it was like a Big I don't tagline. I have a piece of fan art that has wrestling as gay as a banner in the background above him. [00:24:23] Speaker C: Oh, Effie. [00:24:25] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:25] Speaker C: Fantastic. [00:24:26] Speaker B: Going to big gay brunch again this year. I got to see Zach Saber Jr. At it last or this past year. It was a dream come true. [00:24:34] Speaker C: Band, actually. [00:24:36] Speaker A: Yes. Highly recommend that match. That was a very good match. [00:24:39] Speaker B: Yeah, very fun. [00:24:41] Speaker C: Anyways, the man, the grabs that we're here to talk about. [00:24:44] Speaker B: Yeah. Starts again. The crowd's really good. They start off literally with women's wrestling. Chance like before the match even go, like. Yeah, a lot of enthusiasm here. Nigel puts where Harley really do it. Talks about how good she's done on the come. Yeah. [00:25:00] Speaker C: Something we say almost every week. Holy crap. Harley Cameron has gotten really good at this. [00:25:06] Speaker B: It's crazy. Like, some people are just built entertainers. Like, is this that incredible? Entertaining at so many like. And I'm sure she works incredibly hard at everything too, but it's like to be that good at that many different things is very impressive. I can't do ventriloquism, let alone anything else on top of it. [00:25:27] Speaker C: Yeah, let alone ventriloquism. Right? Let alone ventriloquism in a death match. [00:25:32] Speaker B: I can barely post on a microblogging site. [00:25:35] Speaker C: Like, I can't pay my bills. [00:25:38] Speaker A: I see all those reposts, Jeff. Hey, sometimes. Sometimes you just gotta go to the well. Because. [00:25:51] Speaker C: It'S a good well. [00:25:52] Speaker A: Look, look, it's a good well. No, it is a good well, I'll give you that. But sometimes it's like, ah, it's too hard to post. Good thing I've got all these vintage vintage bangers. Vin. Vintage bang. [00:26:05] Speaker C: My collection of vintage bangers. Fortunato to my collection of vintage bangers. [00:26:14] Speaker A: A cask of a montily banger. [00:26:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:19] Speaker C: The Spanish post. Yes. [00:26:23] Speaker A: Jeff's gonna brick us up into a. [00:26:25] Speaker C: Wall and we will have had it. [00:26:27] Speaker B: That was always the plan behind this podcast. [00:26:30] Speaker A: I think we've earned it now. [00:26:32] Speaker C: Hey, it's not the first time I've been bricked up. Hey, hey. And I mean that in the tranny sense, not what the cyst did. Do it. That shit's gross. I'm clocky. Oh, my God. Oh, we have a sis here, dude. Do we? I don't know if we give the secret. The secret. Sacred information. So when people. I find irritating. When people. For the folks at home, we're tangenting. I find it hilarious that that dudes all talk about being bricked up, as in having a Boner. When that absolutely started about being, like, on, like, started toxic places on the Internet. Talking about clocky trans women is my understanding. [00:27:19] Speaker B: I actually never knew. I thought they also meant possibly having a big butt, because I just never have known, like, that. [00:27:25] Speaker A: I've never. [00:27:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:27] Speaker A: I don't know. I don't keep up with what all the kids are saying online. [00:27:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:30] Speaker C: The point is, language is funny. [00:27:32] Speaker A: I'm just another brick in the wall. [00:27:35] Speaker C: Hey. [00:27:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:35] Speaker C: Huh? Thank you. That's what's up. [00:27:37] Speaker B: Oh. [00:27:38] Speaker C: Oh, hell, yeah. That made me happy. All right. Let's keep going. My Soul's ride, your fun 2 online transgender fact. Anyways, continue. [00:27:50] Speaker B: They do a really cool piggyback sentime where Harley gets on Willow's back and jumps and lands on. I can't remember, maybe Julia. But, yeah, very cool spot. [00:28:00] Speaker A: That was nice. Yeah. I like that they're expanding their tag team. [00:28:05] Speaker B: They. They seem to have been very good. They feel like a cohesive team, not just because they're like, vibe and mood is very fun and positive, but, like, they've really incorporated. They got a name. They got an entrance. They always have matching gear. [00:28:17] Speaker C: Oh, the gear is so cute. [00:28:19] Speaker B: It is. [00:28:20] Speaker C: The tag team moves have been expanding. In the one that they go to. The. The brodido move that they stole has been getting better in, like, I think somebody. I saw somebody pointed out online that when. When Willow does it, like, Brody just kind of would, like, lift him up and, like, just kind of let him drop. Whereas, like, Willow, like, pushes Harley Cameron down onto people, and it's like, yeah, kill him. Throw that girl at the other girl. [00:28:58] Speaker B: Some decent stuff, too. There's a spot where Julia gets the tarantula hold, and sky blue drop kicks into it. I was like, that was pretty inventive. [00:29:06] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:29:07] Speaker B: Yeah. It's not really. This is kind of. I don't want to say a nothing match, but this was probably the one I have the least about on the show. [00:29:13] Speaker C: Like, yeah, it was pretty jazzed about it, but I. I kind of felt. I was worried about it because I was like, I feel like I could get screwed here as far as the winners, you know? And, like, don't get me wrong. I love. I love the sisters. Sis, I love you. Not the. The. The sis. I do enjoy. No offense, chef, but the. [00:29:35] Speaker B: The. [00:29:35] Speaker C: The. The babes with the power. The power of. [00:29:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:29:42] Speaker C: I need gold on Willow is what it comes down to. Willow and Harley, but it's like, here's a team of two people that I've been screaming to have gold on Them for like a year and a half now. It feels like. Here. Here you go. Do it, Tony. Again, you're listening. Get. Get the. On it. [00:30:00] Speaker A: I think it's. I think a. A thing that people have noted is that kind of sucks that there's no regular women's tag teams left now. Like, every. Every team was like, basically formed for the tournament. And like, while I understand that, like, it would be cool if the Sisters of Sin were actually treated as like, hey, they're the established tag. [00:30:26] Speaker B: Well, and then. Yeah. And TJ got knocked out at the first line. Who are like the other original tag team. [00:30:32] Speaker A: Like, it would be cool if they were able to go through, but at the same time, it's also like, I mean, it sucks. [00:30:40] Speaker B: Like, Megan and Penelope had been going for a while, but then that turned into a thrown together one because of the injuries. [00:30:46] Speaker A: The Sisters of Sin weren't really booked ever to be like this kind of dominant tag team. Like, they, they definitely showed that they have that chemistry over everybody else they faced so far. Like, they beat Jamie and Aminata, which I don't think some people thought they were going to do. But it's also just like, prior to this, they were sort of booked like, shit. [00:31:09] Speaker B: It's true. Tecla brings the best out of everyone. Just throw Tekla into some involvement. [00:31:16] Speaker A: Tecla gave them instant, like, instantly more credibility. And again, not that there's anything wrong with them, but, like, I'm not like, that's, that's. That's more just the book. That's the book failing them. [00:31:30] Speaker B: I do feel it. [00:31:31] Speaker C: Like, that's a different women's tag team. That's the Love Bombs. Not that there's anything wrong with that. [00:31:40] Speaker B: They're like, I honestly, like, out of them. I find Babes of Wrath more entertaining right now than the Sisters of Sand. Like, they're solid tag team, but yeah, that's who I want to see move on. I want to watch more of them. [00:31:51] Speaker A: Which kind of see them. [00:31:52] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm fine with them versus either Timeless Love Bombs or Mega Bane and Marina Shapiro. There's fun story lines with both of them. [00:32:00] Speaker A: Yep, I agree. [00:32:02] Speaker B: Yeah. And then, yeah, Willow ends up hitting the babe with the power bomb and gets the win they get. They cut to Tony Schiavone welcoming Joe and the Ops in for Joe's championship celebration. And Joe has a championship. Yeah, they always got to do one after a bunch of title changes. [00:32:18] Speaker A: Every pay per view needs a celebration afterwards for someone. And tonight it's Joe's turn. And he didn't even get a cake. [00:32:26] Speaker B: This wasn't a particularly celebratory celebration, actually. Like, a lot of times with the champs, like you said, they'll have a cake or they'll have, like. It'll look like they're like, oh, we're getting at least some booze out. This is just Joe and the Ox in the ring. Ye. Yelling about stuff angrily to continue the Seinfeld references. [00:32:42] Speaker C: This is just airing of grievances. [00:32:44] Speaker A: Yeah. They didn't even get out the. The vodka bottle this time for him. [00:32:48] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. It starts literally with Joe telling Tony Schiavone to get his hillbilly ass out of the ring. And then immediately cuts to the Titan Tron showing a car pulling up that Swerve gets out of. We got a big old chain. And Nana hands him the staple gun. He starts walking towards the ring, and Hangman joins Swerve. And since they still got a little bit of time to go, it cuts back to Joe cutting promo. He tells Shabbat to get the Scrubs, which. [00:33:13] Speaker A: Get the Scrubs. [00:33:15] Speaker B: Yeah. The OPS Dojo, which is now a thing. [00:33:18] Speaker A: I think they just took over the Taz team. Taz Dojo. [00:33:22] Speaker C: Yeah, it's. It's the Taz Dojo with a paint job. [00:33:25] Speaker B: I also think when you have a feud with Swerve Strickland, you have to have a bunch of mooks for him to do the jumping stomp that he does. [00:33:33] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:33:34] Speaker B: Take out, like, 10 people that he does. [00:33:36] Speaker A: He's got to do something. [00:33:38] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:33:39] Speaker B: And I love Swerve, but that is. They always just have him beat up. [00:33:43] Speaker C: Give it to me. It's good stuff. And he's not beating up. He's not beating up a bunch of douchebags by himself this time. [00:33:51] Speaker B: Yeah, he's got a buddy. [00:33:52] Speaker C: He's got a buddy. In one of my favorite moments of the show, where he's walking out with the chain looking amazing, hard as. And then just do it. Here's Hangman Page Drag digging a chain behind him, looking possibly harder as, like. [00:34:08] Speaker B: Oh, Hangman was just hanging out in the garage waiting for him. [00:34:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:34:14] Speaker B: For 10 minutes. Come on. [00:34:16] Speaker C: This is gonna be so dramatic, though. This is gonna be awesome. This is Cowboy. [00:34:23] Speaker A: Your dad dropped you off late. [00:34:27] Speaker B: Get some weed. [00:34:29] Speaker C: Oh, I can still get it, right? [00:34:31] Speaker A: Gonna miss the movie. [00:34:34] Speaker B: We had to stop and buy the chain. Okay. [00:34:37] Speaker C: Yeah, well, I had to stop and get Reese's Pieces. There's no way I'm paying full price inside. Jesus. No, this. This podcast does not condone crimes. [00:34:48] Speaker A: No, I Do I condone all the crime? [00:34:50] Speaker C: And speak for yourself. I condone. Hey, enough said. Let's go. [00:35:03] Speaker A: I like that. This continued the. The trend of Hook starting to cut a promo and then somebody cutting him off so he doesn't have to talk very long. [00:35:13] Speaker B: Yeah, they don't give him a lot, and I think that's. [00:35:15] Speaker C: They figured it out. [00:35:16] Speaker A: Yeah, maybe they figured it's like, don't let him talk. [00:35:19] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, that's them figuring it out. [00:35:20] Speaker B: Just Hook has no aura anymore. I don't know. He dresses like a kid at a bus stop now. And he. [00:35:36] Speaker A: Holy. [00:35:38] Speaker B: I remember once I described Nick Wayne as looking like. The guy said, Nick Wayne looks like the kind of kid who you see buying weed from Jay and Silent Bob in a Kevin Smith movie. [00:35:49] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:35:52] Speaker C: Nick Wayne was the kid in high school, his dad of the BMW dealership that we would sell oregano, too. Again, this podcast does not condone crimes. That was a different person. [00:36:05] Speaker B: Well, it's not legal to sell oregano. Like, oregano is not illegal. [00:36:10] Speaker A: Yeah, you can sell oregano. [00:36:11] Speaker B: You can go out on the street hanging out bags of that, and they can't do anything to me. [00:36:15] Speaker C: It's good stuff, too. [00:36:16] Speaker B: No, there's probably some, like, deceit law or something. [00:36:19] Speaker A: Side. Side tangent. That's like. Apparently a thing they do in Japan a lot is foreigners will come in and ask for weed. But, like, they'll be really obnoxious about it. So then they get the bag of rosemary, and then the cops, like, stop the foreigners and be like, show me what you just bought. It's rosemary. You're fine. Go. And then like, they all have a big laugh. Yeah, the American just paid, like, several hundred dollars for you. [00:36:44] Speaker B: Thought you were going to jail for years. [00:36:50] Speaker C: Over some rosemary. [00:36:51] Speaker A: It's like, I didn't sell into this. [00:36:53] Speaker C: Enjoy your cooking. [00:36:56] Speaker B: Would not buy weed over there. Like, it's a bad idea. [00:36:59] Speaker A: Don't buy weed here. That's the answer. Don't buy weed here. [00:37:03] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't drink, but that's where I'd drink. I would be like, that's where I. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, I drink beer there. [00:37:11] Speaker A: We like. [00:37:13] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Hook does call the crowd. He calls the crowd rednecks and calls himself the greatest second generation wrestler ever. [00:37:22] Speaker C: Was. What a. [00:37:25] Speaker B: When he said it, my mind instantly listed 10 other second generation wrestlers that I think are much better. [00:37:31] Speaker C: Oh, my God. Some have been in the company. [00:37:34] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Literally anybody with the last name Heart, pretty much. Except Bruce. [00:37:44] Speaker A: I mean, no, I mean, like. I mean, like, He. He's got. He's got to do it, but, like, he's like. [00:37:48] Speaker B: He's let the business poison his mind, which is always cool and funny. What? Teddy. [00:37:53] Speaker C: Teddy Hart. There you go. [00:37:54] Speaker B: Is he actually, like. [00:37:57] Speaker C: No. A monster? Yes. [00:38:00] Speaker B: I guess his last name's Heart. Who's he? Is he like one of the lesser brothers? [00:38:04] Speaker C: Sons, I think he's a nephew. [00:38:06] Speaker B: It says. Is that his actual last name or is he like. [00:38:09] Speaker C: No, he's a Heart. [00:38:10] Speaker A: He's an actual Heart. [00:38:12] Speaker C: He's an actual heart in an actual piece of. [00:38:15] Speaker B: No, that's right. [00:38:16] Speaker A: That's the only reason he keeps getting, like, opportunities. Because now he's just like, he. He does crime. [00:38:25] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:38:25] Speaker C: Yeah. Again, crimes not condoned. [00:38:29] Speaker A: Some crime is contained. Teddy Hart's crimes are not condoned. [00:38:37] Speaker C: Crime against the business. This thing we do. [00:38:42] Speaker A: This thing we do. [00:38:48] Speaker B: Yeah. Luckily, we're saved from Hook's promo by Swerve's music, which apparently he is keeping the new music, which. [00:38:55] Speaker A: Cool. [00:38:55] Speaker B: I'm fine. It's an okay song. But I do like the original more. But that's. [00:38:59] Speaker A: I think I'll save the original first. [00:39:01] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:39:01] Speaker B: Bring it back at some point. I just like that. That opening guitar riff sounds cooler. [00:39:06] Speaker A: Yeah. It's just like every main eventer in AEW has like two or three different themes. [00:39:10] Speaker B: Yeah. They see the Hangman, they do that quite a bit with. [00:39:13] Speaker C: Yeah, Hangman. [00:39:14] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. He got like. [00:39:16] Speaker B: He had the Red Dead. [00:39:18] Speaker A: Red Dead Redemption. Terrible game. Never play it. [00:39:23] Speaker C: Hell, even the Bucks got. Or the gun Club got 50 cent that one time. [00:39:28] Speaker B: That was a sick entrance. [00:39:30] Speaker C: So good. The best use of 50 cents. [00:39:34] Speaker B: Like, if you get to have that once in your life, that's awesome. At least. Yep. [00:39:38] Speaker A: And Kenny's got battle cry and then his Final Fantasy 14 music. Yeah. [00:39:44] Speaker C: He comes out the actual one winged angel sometimes. [00:39:47] Speaker B: And Moxley has the version of Wild Thing with the flute playing in the middle of it. He looks so, like, confused and angry. [00:40:01] Speaker A: That's why he chooses that music. [00:40:03] Speaker B: You know, you gotta get the second version of Wild Thing because it was a theme song, wasn't it? [00:40:08] Speaker A: Yeah. He was using Wild Thing for a while when he was a baby face. [00:40:13] Speaker C: I'm so sorry to do this because I'm having the best time. Where are we in the show? [00:40:21] Speaker B: We're at Hangman and Swerve are just coming out. [00:40:23] Speaker C: Okay. All right. We can't do it. [00:40:27] Speaker B: Pretty hard. [00:40:28] Speaker C: It's like I can't see the path. I am all in the wood here. [00:40:34] Speaker B: Swerve is like, out in the crowd and Hangman music plays. And Hangman sitting at the bar. [00:40:39] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:40:40] Speaker B: Yeah, that's right. [00:40:41] Speaker C: Forgot about that. [00:40:43] Speaker B: That was not a nice touch. They, like, fight their way to the ring through the mooks. Yes. [00:40:49] Speaker C: Oh, Mooc murder. Mooc death. It's terrible death. We're gonna kill all these drones. [00:40:58] Speaker B: They didn't give it with. They had the chains and they. The. The Ops fled the ring when they got there and to try and, like, bait them to come back, I guess, play off their humanity. Both Swerve and Hangman get a dojo member and wrap the chains around their necks and throw them over the edge of. And the apps are just like, we don't give a. About these guys. [00:41:16] Speaker A: Maybe not. [00:41:17] Speaker B: Maybe not. [00:41:17] Speaker C: Maybe not. [00:41:19] Speaker A: Well, yeah, I'm sure. The Ops Dojo. The Ops Dojo, I imagine, operates like the Foot Clan in the Ninja Turtles movie. So, like, it's just. It's just like, a bunch. [00:41:29] Speaker B: Yeah. Skateboard ramps and arcade games and. [00:41:32] Speaker A: Yes, yes, exactly. That's. That's the Ops Dojo. [00:41:36] Speaker B: Oh, I could see that. [00:41:37] Speaker A: They just like. Yeah, they just bring in all these, like, kids off the street, and then they would get murdered. And it's like, oh, you shouldn't have gotten murdered. There's your problem. [00:41:48] Speaker C: What's his name? [00:41:49] Speaker B: I play football with power by house hops. [00:41:53] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Powerhouse. Yes. Super Shredder. [00:41:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:41:57] Speaker C: What's Sam Rockwell selling you? Cigarettes. Yeah, that's. What. I couldn't think of his name. Yeah, that's my one. He's got regular and menthol. That's amazing. You can't even get that at gas stations in Minneapolis anymore. You gotta. You gotta go somewhere else. It's terrible. [00:42:19] Speaker B: I would have signed up for the Book Land, Without a doubt. Cigarettes. [00:42:24] Speaker A: I would have joined for cigarettes. Yeah. [00:42:27] Speaker C: Join for Sam Rockwell dancing while he hands out cigarettes. [00:42:30] Speaker B: Because, you know, and also to feel like I'm a part of something. It could be nice. [00:42:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:42:35] Speaker C: Cast a community. We. We are podcasting on Thanksgiving, folks. [00:42:39] Speaker B: Kevin Nash was Shredder. And I would love to meet Kevin Nash. I saw him at WrestleCon, and he is. He'll be a dude. [00:42:48] Speaker C: You big old guy. [00:42:51] Speaker B: Like I said, I'm like, a fairly tall person like most of the other wrestlers. As most of the wrestlers walking around, it's like, very tall. But Kevin Nashville. But I was like, oh, all right. Big daddy. Cool. [00:43:00] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:43:02] Speaker B: They do a little recap video of Mox and Kyle's story with Mox hurting Kyle, taking him out. And they do. They show that backstage, like, interview Clip I was talking about on the Patreon of Moxley just ranting about how he actually won because Kyle's hurt and the Death Riders are all either just staring at him, staring off into space or like shaking their head in shame. He's just like flailing around like, yeah, I won. Technically. They're like, Danny Garcia is just like, what the did I get into, man? [00:43:33] Speaker C: Yeah, the. The state of the union there is not strong. It's just. [00:43:41] Speaker A: Already agreed Marina's taking over. [00:43:47] Speaker B: I think that would be a good move. But I almost wonder if she follows Mox out and like Claudio or I. [00:43:53] Speaker A: Could see Claudia can do it. [00:43:55] Speaker B: They're doing like a shooting Skywalker homer. Are you thing where it gets kicked out of faction but has the like one loyal person that comes with. But yeah, my. This all leads to Jon Moxley vs. Mascara Dorada in a blue league mat. Yeah. Clash of styles. I love different wrestling wrestlers wrestling together in different ways. [00:44:13] Speaker C: Styles make the match. And like this was. I mentioned it earlier. I was like, what wait, does the losing streak continue? [00:44:23] Speaker B: Well, that's. [00:44:24] Speaker A: I thought it was. Yeah, yeah. [00:44:26] Speaker B: I think that helped the match. It really like gave you that like, okay, this could easily. Max has been losing all over. He could win this especially like. Like these tournaments are known for upset wins and like that it keeps it. [00:44:38] Speaker A: We had already just seen one. [00:44:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:44:40] Speaker C: I feel bad because like he's so good and he's so awesome like Mascara Dorada. But I think he's. I think he might be here to eat some losses. [00:44:52] Speaker B: Yeah. Was it Commander was in last year's that where. Yeah, he had a bunch. Yeah, he had like a bunch of show out matches. I think he only won like one of them. Like that's kind of if you're younger. Like, I mean, what's mascara dry? He's like 23 years old. Like you can afford to have like the other way. Yeah, something like that. This is a cool fucking match. And even like they kind of. Sorry. Go. [00:45:15] Speaker A: I was gonna say this match reminded me of the. The Blackpool Combat Club having like a feud with all of CMLL like two years ago. [00:45:24] Speaker B: Yeah, that was. [00:45:26] Speaker A: Mox meshes really, really well with luchadors. [00:45:29] Speaker B: He does. I like that he hits a big suicide dive himself like right off the bat and be like, yeah, no, I can do this high flying too. [00:45:36] Speaker C: And you almost landed in the goddamn crowd. It was amazing. [00:45:40] Speaker B: You wrote him and like he just caught the top of the rail. [00:45:43] Speaker C: Jesus Christ. Like that had to hurt everybody involved. Like everyone. No one had a good time There. But us, I had a great time. [00:45:52] Speaker B: Max is a big dude, too. Like, it's gotta be some impact. [00:45:55] Speaker A: Yeah, that was. Yeah, he was booking it on that one, too. [00:46:00] Speaker C: You forget until you see him flying through the air at you like, oh, wait, that is a large gentleman. [00:46:07] Speaker B: Yeah. Dorada hit some cool. They do a good spot where he goes to jump off the stage and take Moxley out of. Moxley just punches him out of the air. I love, like, I love interception spots where somebody's trying to do something high flying and somebody just thumps them down the head out of the air. [00:46:23] Speaker C: All in all, very good match. [00:46:25] Speaker A: It was a great match. I love this. This might have been my match at the tournament so far, but, like, yeah, like, it's just like little. Little like there. There was. Dorada like, runs, like, runs out of the ring, and then Moxley, like, chases after him up the ramp and just like, grabs him by the throat and then punches him in the face. [00:46:46] Speaker B: Get the back here. Come on. [00:46:48] Speaker A: Dorad is trying to do all this Lucha stuff, and Moxley's like, no punch in the face up your face. [00:46:57] Speaker B: Like, Dorad had a cool spot where he does a run up off the stairs and catches a hurricane Rana and then does a cutter to Moxley over the barricade. So that was very slick. That was a big hit. A gorgeous tornado, like that spinning plancha over the top. That always amazes me. Anytime I see anybody do it is pretty nuts. [00:47:16] Speaker C: Yeah. No, this match was full of all kinds of good. Like, I could spend your all night talk about every spot that popped me. I love Lucha, I think, is what it comes down. The thought I had several times, I said, you know what? [00:47:33] Speaker B: I really, really. [00:47:33] Speaker C: I'm just a. For Lucha. [00:47:36] Speaker B: Even, like, the finish plays into what we're talking about, where Dorada goes for a shooting star and Mox catches him on the knees and then, like, grabs him around the arms and turns it into like a flip over, almost like a, like, laying down cattle mutilation kind of. [00:47:51] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:47:51] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:47:52] Speaker A: That was weird before, and I don't know if it has a name, but it's. It's. Yeah, Excalibur said it was. It was like a sleeper show. [00:48:00] Speaker C: Nasty. [00:48:01] Speaker B: Yeah. It looks brutal. [00:48:02] Speaker A: It looks so gross. It's. [00:48:04] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:05] Speaker A: Looks like it hurts so bad. [00:48:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I was. I was glad Mox getting the win makes sense, and I'm glad that it's keeping it. The winning streak's good. I love the story, but, like, this keeps it fresh to at least keep him in with him. Facing off against Claudio next week. I think that's gonna be some crazy. That could be either the. The beginning of the end of the death ride. [00:48:24] Speaker C: That's what I'm thinking. [00:48:25] Speaker B: We might already be in the middle of the end of the death riders, but it's gonna be a major. It's gonna be a chapter, I think. I think. [00:48:31] Speaker C: I think it. I think it happens at world's end. It is my guess. [00:48:39] Speaker B: Yeah. Marina comes on out. [00:48:42] Speaker C: I, for one, welcome our Marina Shafiro. Overlords agree. [00:48:46] Speaker B: Yeah. Marina joins Moxley in the ring, and Tony Storm's music plays. And she comes out with a mic, and she is in full color. And even, like, she looks kind of technicolor. Like, the whole thing is very cool presentation. [00:48:58] Speaker A: She even says it. This is Tyler Stoney Storm live and in living color. [00:49:02] Speaker C: Yeah. So there you go. [00:49:04] Speaker B: She is the toughest, most resilient, least bitchy person standing in the ring. Says that she likes Moxley despite his love of cargo pants. [00:49:12] Speaker C: Yeah, that was a good line. [00:49:13] Speaker B: Yeah. The way she said. She said cargo pants with, like, this, like, hidden eminence behind it. Just like. [00:49:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:49:23] Speaker C: He seemed a little offended for a second. Just a second. He's like, what the. [00:49:28] Speaker B: It's a pairing. Moxley and Toni Storm. You wouldn't imagine ever really, like, crossing paths, but it worked so well. [00:49:35] Speaker C: Now I want them in a death match. Like, let's go. I think somebody made that image. [00:49:43] Speaker A: Yeah. Somebody said, that's the world's end match. Tony Storm versus Jon Moxley. [00:49:49] Speaker B: Oh, I like at one point, too, she called Marina Moxley's caveman daughter. [00:49:58] Speaker A: That is very mean. Yes. [00:50:03] Speaker B: Talks about how they won the right to pick the stipulation for the coming semifinal match in the tag tournament. And calls Mina out. Mina comes out on the ring and just kind of poses around and looks very happy. She says that she. Tony says she hasn't gotten Mina anything for Christmas, but she says her gift is the head of the two slop tarts that they're gonna be facing on a silver platter. And picks a hardcore holiday death match for the stipulation. And Marina loses it for some reason. She just. I love how often she freaks out and has to be restrained by somebody nowadays. [00:50:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:50:38] Speaker B: Any news given to her, she just flies out the hand. [00:50:42] Speaker A: It should be also noted that, like, Moxley is spending this entire promo, like, gagging, just being in the presence of timeless Tony Storm. [00:50:51] Speaker B: Oh, you can tell he loves it. [00:50:53] Speaker A: Yeah. He's like. It's. But, like, his. [00:50:55] Speaker B: His just. [00:50:56] Speaker A: His reaction was like, ah, what was that? [00:51:01] Speaker C: I imagine eternally he's got to keep it together. He's going, this is. This is pro wrestling. This is so good. Like is. [00:51:09] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:51:10] Speaker B: That's as much as Mox is like, you know, a wrestling guy. You could tell he loves goofy in theatrics and everything. [00:51:17] Speaker C: She really. She really line delivered that death match line too. Like Jesus Christ. And then just walked off like, that's. [00:51:29] Speaker B: Probably gonna be incredibly fun match. I'm excited for that. [00:51:32] Speaker A: It unfortunately, well, it for very obvious reasons didn't make the broadcast, but they released Marina's promo answering for it and answering the challenge. And she's basically just like, I don't give a about your holiday. Us Death match was basically like half censored. [00:51:49] Speaker B: You Marina Shafir, you are the best wrestler now. [00:51:54] Speaker C: Oh, let's go. [00:51:56] Speaker A: I'm gonna kill you and your stupid dumb bleep wife. [00:52:01] Speaker C: Jesus Christ. [00:52:04] Speaker A: Like you said, she flies off the handle when delivered any news. Like, hey, Marina, dinner's ready. You hold her back. [00:52:11] Speaker B: Hold her back. [00:52:13] Speaker A: Imagine. Imagine what her. The. The. The Roderick. [00:52:19] Speaker B: Her name and she's like trained to. Marina. [00:52:22] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, I was gonna say that. I don't think it's good for anybody in a household. They're both just so. [00:52:33] Speaker B: Just like incredibly chill about it at this point. It like mom and dad. Yeah. [00:52:37] Speaker A: Yeah. Either that or they just cons constantly stiffing each other and foot fetish and calling each other C words. [00:52:49] Speaker C: Like you do. [00:52:50] Speaker A: Like you do. [00:52:52] Speaker B: Next we go backstage with Renee Paquette and Chris Statlander. Renee asked that what is next for her now that she beat Mercedes. Stat says that people can't believe her, you know, list of accomplishments. Winning the. Being the only person to win the TNT and the women's champ or the tbs. Sorry. And the women's champion being the only person to beat Tone, Toni Storm and Mercedes Monet. There are three options. She can look to the past, to the present or the future. And she knows where she is going to look and ask who is going with her. And she grabs Renee's face in a funny manner and points it all over the place. [00:53:24] Speaker C: Oh yes, that was. That was real cute. [00:53:27] Speaker B: Yeah. She's our wonderful weird woman's champion. [00:53:30] Speaker A: I am very curious to see who they get for her next. [00:53:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:33] Speaker A: Since they've been. They're kind of hinting that she's Athena. Maybe think for it could be Athena. They. They're kind of hinting that like she. It's not necessarily going to be somebody from aew. [00:53:45] Speaker B: Yeah, that's A good point. Come on, Siree. [00:53:48] Speaker A: Oh, God. [00:53:50] Speaker B: Come on, Tony. Use them connections. She. She is in every other promotion. She wrestles everywhere. Just bring her back. [00:53:59] Speaker A: Yeah, she did do. [00:54:00] Speaker B: She did a match in Ring of Honor like last month. Yeah. Yeah. Next we go to another Continental Classic match. It is Darby Allen versus Kevin Knight in a Gold League match. And this actually, as much as you know, Darby, this might have been my match of the night. Like, it was really good. Kevin Knight is an absolute star. It just does such cool stuff. [00:54:21] Speaker A: Like we were talking about how last year Commander didn't win a ton of matches, but he, like really, like, stood out and. Yeah, showed off. And I think whether or not Kevin Knight or Mike Bailey win a lot of matches, I think this is going to let them stand out and people. [00:54:41] Speaker B: Like, it's going to be showcase years for him. [00:54:43] Speaker A: Yeah. Like, both these. Both these guys are fucking incredible in singles matches. [00:54:48] Speaker B: I am so excited for when they. Because it's there in the same block. Fucking when it's Kevin versus Speed Ball. I bet they are going to put on an absolute. But I won't be if maybe if they do a time limit draw or something to it. [00:54:59] Speaker A: Oh, no. I. I wanna. I want a winner. I want a winner. I'm Danielson. I'm Brian Danielson. And I was like, yes. Fight. Kill. [00:55:06] Speaker B: Four minutes. [00:55:11] Speaker A: Fighting. Yes. [00:55:14] Speaker B: Kevin does a monkey flip on a Darby and Darby catches his foot on the rope. And it actually looks kind of nasty. I don't know if that was potentially how that was supposed to go or not, or if it does happen. They do a cool. Kevin Knight jumps up on the guard rail and hits a moonsault off the guard rail and Darby's charging him and it's just incredibly slick. [00:55:32] Speaker A: He looked like he literally just dropped on Darby like his full actual weight. Like, he wasn't just like, catch me. It was just like. [00:55:41] Speaker B: It was. [00:55:42] Speaker A: Yeah, you moonsault. [00:55:45] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [00:55:46] Speaker B: There's just tons of cool here. Like, Darby gets on top, he goes for the coffin drop and Kevin does that, like, no hands jump up onto the top rope, which is astonishing. Looking every time, that vertical leap. Yeah, yeah. [00:55:59] Speaker C: You should be able to do that, basically. Oh, no. I was gonna say, no. This match was pretty solid for a Darby Allen affair. Like, I really like Kevin Knight. Really like Kevin Knight. [00:56:13] Speaker A: I really like. [00:56:15] Speaker C: And the. The finish for this was like, Jesus, Jesus. [00:56:19] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. This is. They hit the best coast to coast. Kevin gets Darby into the tree of roe and hits a coast to coast drop kick on him. That is the Smoothest, most beautiful one I think I've ever seen. [00:56:34] Speaker A: Seriously. [00:56:35] Speaker C: And that into an amazing, perfect transition into actually hitting into the UFO splash for a clean, well earned win. [00:56:46] Speaker B: Yep. And it's a good surprise win. Like we said, this is something that's. What's fun about these tournaments is like, you really don't know what's going to happen. And having something like this where it feels like it's almost certainly going one way and going the other is a great way to keep people on their toes. [00:57:00] Speaker C: Yeah. Any. Any given Continental classic. [00:57:04] Speaker B: Indeed. [00:57:05] Speaker A: I. I keep thinking about that coast to coast, too, because, like, we've seen for decades dudes doing that move and it always looks like they're barely making it. [00:57:15] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:57:15] Speaker B: They reaching like, Kevin was literally like halfway across the ring before he even started extending his legs out for the drop kick. Like. [00:57:22] Speaker C: Yeah. Shotgun coast to coast, like. [00:57:25] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:26] Speaker A: Like he got all of it. Like, he could have kept going. If he hadn't hit Darby, he would have kept going. I think, like, people will be like, all these years of like, oh, man, Shane McMahon's so impressive. He can kind of touch his toe. [00:57:42] Speaker B: I mean, Rob Van Damme. Van Damme was the only one other one that could make it look like he was really connected. [00:57:49] Speaker A: Yeah. But like, that. The thing about Van Damme doing it, though, was they gave him the chair. [00:57:55] Speaker B: Yeah. So he was hitting the chair into that. Yeah. That gives a little closer. [00:57:59] Speaker A: It made it. It gave it a little bit more impact to it. But like, night doing it was just. [00:58:04] Speaker B: Yeah, it was straight through, full impact. [00:58:08] Speaker A: Meteor of a drop kick. [00:58:09] Speaker B: He probably would have slid under the bottom rope. [00:58:12] Speaker A: Yep. [00:58:13] Speaker B: Actually do a. [00:58:14] Speaker C: Those are things that. What's something that both Kevin Knight and a New York City bus can say? [00:58:22] Speaker B: If. [00:58:22] Speaker C: If Reallon was there, I would have just kept going because he got hit by a bus. That one. Yeah. I'm sorry. [00:58:29] Speaker B: Saving Raven. Raven Petty Bond's life. [00:58:32] Speaker C: I'm gonna cut it out. I'm just gonna go ahead and cut it out. That's been a long day. [00:58:40] Speaker A: It has. Yeah. Actually, no, it hasn't. [00:58:43] Speaker B: No, you did. You've been awake for like an hour and 20 minutes. [00:58:46] Speaker C: What are you talking. It's morning for you. [00:58:49] Speaker A: It is morning. I have the whole day. [00:58:52] Speaker B: Day. [00:58:53] Speaker A: I get to shower, I get to wash my hair. [00:58:57] Speaker B: Get your podcast now the way early. Yeah, yeah. They do a video package just about FTR in their title win over rodeo at full gear. Just throw a little something. And then they cut to Eddie Kingston backstage, who basically says he doesn't Want to talk about Hook, but he says that Joe mentioned his name in the promo and that he isn't in line for the belt, but he wants to be, and he thinks if he faces off against Shibata, that'd be a good way to get that spot in line, which is a match that is made for this collision that is on Thursday. Thanksgiving. [00:59:27] Speaker A: Let's go. Thanksgiving, dog. [00:59:29] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Then we get to the main event here, which is last Continental Classic match of the night. It is Claudio Castagnoli vs. Orange Cassidy in the Blue League matchup. After they just had a match, I think, two weeks ago. Week ago. [00:59:43] Speaker C: Oh, like two or three weeks ago. Building up the blood and guts. And it was so hot. It was so. [00:59:48] Speaker B: It was. I never get tired of these two together. They have some of the best. It's like one of my favorite rivalries in aew. [00:59:55] Speaker A: They. [00:59:55] Speaker C: They did not disappoint here. Like, I say, whole. You could tell that they were like, we just did this. And it was. And it was like, one of the best TV matches of the year, in Ella's opinion. They're talking about me because they. Again, they listen. They listen to the show. [01:00:10] Speaker B: So Claudio Orange sipping coffee together, like, yeah. [01:00:13] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Talk about Ella's opinions. Punditry. [01:00:20] Speaker A: Punditry. [01:00:21] Speaker C: I don't know if you could tell by my voice. I don't feel that great, folks. So you're getting. You're getting me. You're getting me in a weird spot there. I lost my train of thought. That's just the weed. [01:00:35] Speaker A: But they. They basically just like, this was like, okay, it's a tournament match. Like, this is, again, going to be a guarantee. [01:00:43] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:00:43] Speaker C: Okay. All right, now I remember where it was. Yes, we. We have to banger again, but in special, special specific ways. I honestly thought it was going to go to a draw I would have been happy with. [01:00:56] Speaker B: I could have seen that being a possibility. [01:00:58] Speaker C: Yeah, I. I thought that would have been a fun way to build. Continue to, like, further build a singles kind of feud between those two towards maybe some sort of even bigger payoff in the future because, like, you, like, become that kind of thing where, like, Claudio just can't beat the sneaky little bastard, you know? But also, he just, like, he keeps doing it. And that makes sense, too. [01:01:23] Speaker B: It's a finesse versus power. [01:01:25] Speaker C: Yeah. And, like, after a while there, it's like, I'm sorry, Orange Cassidy, but you shall be. No. No pun intended. Orange crushed. He's so big. He's so big and strong. [01:01:37] Speaker A: He's so strong and big. I like that. He keeps finding new ways to do a giant swing to people. [01:01:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:01:44] Speaker B: He bounced his orange Cassidy off the, like, the barrier a couple times with it, which is always very fun. [01:01:49] Speaker A: It's. It's not even just that, like he swung one. He was swinging until he hit him. [01:01:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:01:55] Speaker A: And then he started going the other way, the other side of the barricade. It's like, you monster. [01:02:04] Speaker B: I like to now when he does. When he does the giant swing in the ring now, he doesn't do it for long anymore. Like, he's not trying to get interaction and fun for the crowd. He's just like, I'm doing it just to disorient them. I don't need to do the gimmick and just tosses them and kind of reels in the fact nobody gets to do the fun counting. [01:02:20] Speaker A: Yeah. Understands he heal. Love it. [01:02:25] Speaker C: Old 79. Stank. [01:02:28] Speaker A: Yeah. Say a slur, Claudio. It's okay. [01:02:32] Speaker C: You're heel. You can do it. Said stank. [01:02:34] Speaker A: You could say a slur. Say stank. It's a slam. [01:02:39] Speaker C: It is now at least what I say. [01:02:43] Speaker A: Ring bell, 79. Ring bell. [01:02:48] Speaker B: Like, during the break at one point, Nigel was talking about, like Claudio being Swiss and neutrality and he describes Switzerland as a country full of mercenaries. [01:02:57] Speaker A: Huh. And then he puts the Codex of Stardice. [01:03:00] Speaker B: He does. Yeah. [01:03:03] Speaker A: Oh, death does Service end. Tony, You nerd. [01:03:12] Speaker B: Yeah. Claudio's Warhammer fixation is like one of my favorite things. I love when wrestlers are really into Warhammer 40K and like, I know, right? It's like, it's what's her. Shayna Baszler always would wear, like, different color gear. Well, yeah, Wherever it's from the UK originally. They all over there. [01:03:29] Speaker A: I'm sure. I'm sure Nigel has it. It's like me a nerd. You nerd. [01:03:35] Speaker B: It's just too exp. I would love to play Warhammer, but it is too, too expensive for me. [01:03:39] Speaker A: It's too so expensive. [01:03:41] Speaker B: Yep. I love the lore. I read the books, all that. But yeah, yeah, I can't do that in good conscience. [01:03:48] Speaker A: Got cats. [01:03:50] Speaker B: I really like the spot too, where Claudio picks up orange by his pants. Like orange Cassidy's on the ground and Claudio grabs him by the pants and lifts him up. And I think I kind of was like, That's awesome. [01:04:08] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [01:04:10] Speaker B: The end of the match, they're going back and forth, trading the pop up thing that Claudio does with orange catching, like the orange punches off of it and Claudio going for the uppercuts. There's a cool spot where Claudio goes for the pop up uppercut and Orange Cassidy turns it into one of his DDTs. They do it again. They had like some good back and forth and Claudio does finally hit the pop up uppercut and just takes Orange's head off with it. Like, it was very brutal looking. [01:04:36] Speaker A: It was rough landing for Orange. [01:04:39] Speaker B: Yeah. And he gets the win. Claudia puts three on the board. But yeah, it was a dope match. I'm always happy to see these two wrestle. Yep. [01:04:47] Speaker A: I mean a lot of people when they announced the brackets were like, they, they, they had the opinion of, oh, there's too many rematches. There's. We've seen a lot of this stuff before and like, and I think that's always gonna. That's always a thing for these tournaments. It's like, why isn't this guy in it? Why isn't that guy in it? [01:05:07] Speaker B: The same thing with the G1. Like, usually it's the same largely same contingent throughout, but it's all putting on such great matches. [01:05:15] Speaker A: Yeah. Like once, once the matches start, you forget that. And it's like, okay, I don't care that I'm like, these are just sick kata and bad luck fail are go to have a great match. The only good.
