Episode Transcript

[00:00:01] Speaker A: Hey, folks. Erica Warrens here. I wanted to take a moment to apologize for the lack of episode last week that was on me. I had what some might term a quote unquote, mental episode in the course of editing it. But that's neither here nor there. You, the Wednesday Night Fake Fight audience, deserve better. And I let you down. I'm sorry. Now, you may notice that I'm not in this week's episode. And there's a reason for that. As a result of my weekend constitution from last weekend, I was recommended a special treatment in the next town over. And long story short, I'm trapped in the nightmare haunted city of Yharnam. Yeah, the place from Bloodborne. I want to blame this on George C. Scott, but I think this might be on me as well for, you know, signing that contract without actually reading any of it. So I've been told. I'm a hunter now and, well, a hunter must hunt. So enjoy the episode. We'll see what next week brings. And always remember to fear the old blood. Oh, gotta go. In the beginning, the earth was a dark, formless void. But then God spoke and said, let there be wrestling. And with that, there was Monday, and wrestling happened on Mondays. And God looked upon her works and said, holy shit, that's a lot of racism in video packages. On the second day, God got depressed. And lo did she post about it on the DB DVR forums. And with that, there was Tuesday. On the third day, God said, let there be Wednesday. And lo did the people reply unto her. We know what that means. [00:02:12] Speaker B: And welcome back to Wednesday Night Fake Fights where we talk about all things aew. And this week we are here with a super sized extra long September to remember three hours of dynamite. And even though the dynamite is extra big, our cast today is extra small. Erica Warren's gonna be missing this week because she's trapped in a video game or something. [00:02:39] Speaker C: A real incarnation of a fake. Yeah, it's a little wishy. [00:02:43] Speaker B: It's kind of like the X Files Season 7 Episode First Person Shooter. That's all you need. I assume that will land with everybody and will explain everything. I. [00:02:53] Speaker C: Yes, I know exactly what you're talking. [00:02:55] Speaker B: It's not a great it's later X Files, but I'm here. [00:03:00] Speaker C: I'm here too. It's me. It's Piper Willow. I'm. [00:03:03] Speaker B: I'm here. [00:03:03] Speaker C: I'm very tired. I just watched this show and I'm about to record and it's gonna be. It's gonna be a doozy. [00:03:11] Speaker D: It to me. Ella. I smell like fryer grease. But I'm here. Baddest ever piss in this sink. It's my apartment. I can do that. [00:03:22] Speaker B: The whole apartment's the sink. [00:03:24] Speaker D: Oh, God, no. Yeah, I got a corner. [00:03:26] Speaker B: I'm Jeff the Tokemongo Stew. I don't know, the guy said. [00:03:30] Speaker D: Yeah, you probably should have said that, Jeff. [00:03:32] Speaker B: Yeah. If you've been listening, you know who I am at this point. [00:03:35] Speaker D: Little mongoose guy smoking weed. [00:03:38] Speaker B: Yeah. Tiny mongoose. Giant dynamite. [00:03:41] Speaker D: Giant dynamite. Yes. Long as hell. [00:03:46] Speaker B: Speaking of high. Yeah. High run time. [00:03:49] Speaker C: Yes. [00:03:50] Speaker D: Well, why don't we get this out of the way right away? [00:03:53] Speaker C: This too much. [00:03:54] Speaker D: We could all agree this is too much. Weekday grabs. [00:03:58] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, I get. There's not. There's not going to be a collision. So you want to like, okay, you know, do dump, but it's not necessary, you know. [00:04:08] Speaker D: No. [00:04:08] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, then luckily, I will say at least this was in my. Well, you know, get into it as we go, but enjoyable. Like, everything was pretty good. [00:04:18] Speaker D: Oh, it was a banger. But it was a long banger and I was very tired. [00:04:22] Speaker B: Yeah. At least it wasn't that three hour raw. Like. [00:04:25] Speaker C: No. [00:04:26] Speaker D: So now we don't have to bang on about how awful and stupid long it was. Let's just get out of the way. Pull that band aid off. This is too long, Tony. Don't do it again. [00:04:36] Speaker C: At least. At least not in the same week that a pay per view is like 20, 48 hours away. [00:04:41] Speaker B: Yeah. There's gonna be a lot of aw this week, which is gonna probably run at least four or five hours. [00:04:47] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:04:47] Speaker B: And then our pre show. Yeah. [00:04:50] Speaker D: Let's light that fuse, folks. [00:04:52] Speaker B: Let's hit it. [00:04:52] Speaker D: Take me. Take me there, Jeff. Take me there. [00:04:55] Speaker B: We're gonna start off also speaking of high with Tony Schiavone, who is. I don't know for sure he gives out those vibes, but he's in the ring for the contract signing between Hangman Adam Page and IO Fletcher. [00:05:10] Speaker D: I've heard his podcast. He's not sober. [00:05:13] Speaker B: No, he does give. He gives me vibes that he probably. Maybe not all the time. Maybe not as like, much as me, but like, I bet on the weekend he gets in the hot tub with the wife and he has like a good sized joint like that. [00:05:28] Speaker D: Yeah. He was disappointed that they never signed RVD at wcw. [00:05:32] Speaker B: He puts on some Bachman Turner overdrive. [00:05:36] Speaker C: The Mario Speed Wagon. [00:05:38] Speaker D: Yeah, I was gonna say speed wagon. [00:05:41] Speaker B: Mrs. Schiavone has a zinfandel in a glass. I'm just Fantasy booking Tony Schiavone's life. [00:05:46] Speaker D: Now she does. She does seem like a white zen lady. [00:05:51] Speaker B: I could see them just chilling out. Yeah. [00:05:53] Speaker D: Box wine. Yeah. [00:05:55] Speaker B: Enjoying their golden years. [00:05:56] Speaker D: A nice box of wine. [00:06:00] Speaker B: But yeah, we're doing the. The contract signing for the world title match on Saturday. Don Cal is coming out with Kyle, which obviously leads to giant booze and on callous. I mean, it's just every time at this point, Hangman gets a great reaction, though. Say Tony tries to give Kyle the contract and Don interrupts and says that he has something he has to say to Hangman talks about Hangman taking the belt from Don, yada yada yada, which puts over Kyle. Really. It's the same thing he's been saying. [00:06:29] Speaker D: We are deep enough into this. This little arc Archy guy to yada yada yada. The promos where we're. Yeah, it's the go home show. [00:06:39] Speaker B: I'm not opposed to it. It is still a good part of the story. But like, we know it's three hours. We're moving things along. [00:06:45] Speaker D: Except Tony. God, Tony was still on fire. But yes, go. We'll get there. [00:06:50] Speaker B: Yeah. Without a doubt. Hangman gets the mic and talks about why he wants Kyle to go without the Don Callis family involved on Saturday. He sees potential in Kyle and his future of aew, but he's got to prove that he's worthy by leading the company, you know, to lead the company. Doing this alone. So says that the contract states that if the Don Callis family interferes on Saturday, not only does Kyle lose the match, but he's also going to be stripped of the TNT title, given some stinks. [00:07:19] Speaker D: That's good, Stip. Good. [00:07:22] Speaker B: It's. Hangman is reversing what MJF kind of did to him where he's taking control of the situation now and he's not just using it to his advantage, but he even mentioned that he's like, I think everybody here is sick of Don Callis family interference. Yeah. [00:07:37] Speaker D: Dixler Jones over here. [00:07:39] Speaker B: Yeah. Doing it for the good of the company. [00:07:42] Speaker C: I think, you know, with. With how he handled mjf, he kind of like played him into doing what Hangman wanted. I don't necessarily feel that this go round. I feel like there's like legitimacy to what Hangman's saying about Kyle. [00:07:57] Speaker B: Yeah, without a doubt. Yeah. And it's bigging Kyle up too. I mean, it's all. One thing I kind of noticed throughout this episode is they really do a good job of like, not nobody's getting torn down. Like, even, like, even the challengers against each other. Like, later on we get Mercedes on commentary versus Riho and she like makes little digs, but she also talks about how Riho has been wrestling forever and does it again. You're jumping ahead, but they're doing a great job building all these. Yeah. [00:08:25] Speaker D: While she says that. While like talking about how she's like a tiny little. She's so little. [00:08:31] Speaker B: She. She does get to dig in. But she bigs her up after is pretty. [00:08:35] Speaker D: She is. And to be fair, re. She's small. She real tiny. [00:08:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:41] Speaker C: But I think AEW as a whole is really good about doing that. Like with commentary, with promos. They. They make sure it's not just like you suck and, and you suck. Like, and that's all you say about like the heel. It's like, no, there's, I mean even like Don Callis is really good about like putting people over, like, giving credit where. [00:09:00] Speaker B: Credit. I was just gonna say Don Callis is great on commentary with that by like talking up his opponent. His like, you know, charge his opponent so that when, you know, and they beat him, it looks good because, oh, I told you this guy was the best in the world and my guy beat him. So that means. [00:09:14] Speaker D: And that is even better. That's old school. [00:09:18] Speaker B: It is that. [00:09:19] Speaker D: That's one of those don't. With the classics. Like, that's, that's. [00:09:23] Speaker C: Yeah, it ain't broke. [00:09:24] Speaker D: Don't fix it. That's. That's good. Good heel commentator. Like, that's getting heat, as kids would say. By the kids, I mean parties. [00:09:36] Speaker B: Yeah, us and us 30 to 40 year olds. [00:09:38] Speaker D: Yeah, that too. Cardi fans. [00:09:41] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. [00:09:43] Speaker C: There's a good line in here from Taz where like Fletcher says, you know, he's a man of his word. And Taz is like, yeah, Fletcher's a man of his word. And Brian goes, is. Don Tass is like, no. [00:09:53] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. I was, I had that thought too. I was like that, that was the first like, is that a Taz of. [00:10:02] Speaker B: I mean, we'll like stuff throughout, but like, Brian Danielson has revitalized commentary. Danielson has such good chemistry with like callous Antas and Excalibur throughout towns in particular. Feels almost like extra on point now that Danielson's out there. They play off each other great. [00:10:19] Speaker D: I, I like, I, I don't know, maybe this is me shipping it in my head, but I feel like Taz, here's a fun fact. Taz has been a commentator now longer than he was a wrestler. [00:10:32] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. I believe that. [00:10:33] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:10:34] Speaker B: Probably. Well, yeah, because he only really wrestled through the 90s. [00:10:38] Speaker D: That's batshit wild to me. It makes me feel so old. [00:10:43] Speaker B: I mean, I think he might have debuted late 80s, but yeah, he stopped wrestling in like 2001. [00:10:48] Speaker D: Him broke his. [00:10:50] Speaker B: I think it's just more that we're really old. Like 2001 was 24 years ago. Shut the. [00:10:57] Speaker D: Shut up. [00:10:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:01] Speaker D: My hands hurt. [00:11:03] Speaker C: I was in kindergarten. [00:11:04] Speaker D: Baby. [00:11:06] Speaker B: Little baby. Experiencing their first nine, 11. [00:11:09] Speaker C: That's right. I remember it. At least I'm old enough to say that. [00:11:12] Speaker D: That's okay. You got like four of them to come. [00:11:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:15] Speaker D: You have two. Financial crisis in a forever war. [00:11:20] Speaker C: Thanks. [00:11:21] Speaker D: Yeah. Hey, I remember life before that. It was good for like two years. It was really good for like two years. And then it's been ever since. [00:11:30] Speaker B: Yeah. One of my first, like, form. Like, I have childhood memories, but one of my first, like, adult memories is Columbine. Like, that happened when I was 12 or 13, so it was like, right as I was kind of transitioning. It's like, oh, this is setting the tone. Great. Oh, cool. Yeah. And then two. Yeah. And then two years later, nine, 11. And that's just like, awesome. We are. Everything's coming up millennials. [00:11:52] Speaker D: Columbine and mankind winning the title on raw. [00:11:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:56] Speaker D: Anyways. [00:11:59] Speaker C: Way to bring it back to you. [00:12:02] Speaker B: Speaking of time being a flat circle and flat circles. They're talking about belts. Kyle gets the mic and says that this stipulation. I don't know, I'm trying to make no bridges here. Okay. Kyle gets the mic and says that the stipulation doesn't scare him. Says he'd signed the contract no matter what Hangman had put in there. Hangman could have put you up to crawl a mile through broken glass to start the match. And Hangman or. And Kyle would have agreed to it. Agrees to the terms. At some point. He says something about being the best wrestler, which starts some CM Punk chance. And a bunch of people booing said, CM Punk chance. [00:12:34] Speaker C: Yeah, I. I was like, I think I hear that. And I was like, it wasn't super. [00:12:38] Speaker B: Loud and it got shut down. Yeah, stop doing those people. There's some what chance later on too. It's like, come on, we don't. We're past this. [00:12:46] Speaker D: And like, I liked what. [00:12:49] Speaker B: It was fun back. [00:12:50] Speaker D: It started as a good thing. It's been dead for so long. [00:12:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:54] Speaker D: Don't bring it back. That being said, bring back one. Following the. The ring announcer. It's never stopped being funny to me. And they do it locally here and it pisses the off on John. Maddening. So I do it harder and Love you, John, if you're listening. Kisses. But yeah, just bring that back. But no more. What's. Come on. Y' all are out there making fools of yourself. What? In Legends. [00:13:21] Speaker C: I'm a big fan of the. Of the. For near falls. [00:13:26] Speaker D: Yes. Thank you. [00:13:27] Speaker B: It's always fun. [00:13:28] Speaker D: Always good. See, there's good ones. Do the good ones. [00:13:31] Speaker B: I missed the peak of the Bullet Club where at a two count they go. They go two and then people go play all throughout the crowd. That was always fun. [00:13:40] Speaker D: Ah, no. Damn it. I got back into wrestling way too late. [00:13:46] Speaker B: Kyle says that AEW needs him, not Hangman and the company belongs to him now. Before signing the contract, Hangman gets the mic and says he knows how Kyle feels and that Kyle's going to feel crushed after losing it all out for some reason. I really want a zip chair. Gaming video game chair. I just. That logo, it's intriguing. [00:14:05] Speaker C: It looks comfortable. [00:14:06] Speaker B: They do. And it's. Hold on. [00:14:08] Speaker D: We're still talking about this opening segment. [00:14:11] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm trying. [00:14:13] Speaker D: I'm gonna shut the up for like five minutes. [00:14:16] Speaker B: I'm going as quick as I can. [00:14:18] Speaker C: Kyle says. [00:14:19] Speaker B: Yeah, we're almost done with this, though. [00:14:21] Speaker C: Yeah, he's gonna leave him in a pool of his own blood tonight. That's. That's the big threat. He's not going to have the. [00:14:26] Speaker B: He does. He says he's going to keep his word and that there'll be no interference Saturday. But tonight he's beating the. Out of. And I. This is. Maybe this is just me, but I really don't like this say my full name tagline that Kyle has. It's just. It doesn't flow well. The whole Kyle's say my full name tagline thing he has, I just don't think it works because everyone still calls him Kyle Fletcher and I guess he wants people to call him like the Proto Star, but nobody doesn't really do that. I don't get why this is. [00:14:55] Speaker D: I'm going to be very brief for the sake of the recording. Sucks. Just have to say it. I want to put it on record. Sucks. I don't like it. [00:15:01] Speaker B: You. [00:15:01] Speaker D: Yeah, I'll call you Fletch Light. [00:15:03] Speaker C: I don't give a. Yeah, that's way better. [00:15:06] Speaker D: Get some socks. [00:15:07] Speaker B: I know. Yeah. Yeah, it's. It's a fun segment. It's moving things along for the world title. It does the job. [00:15:13] Speaker C: Yeah, that's pretty much every single segment and bit tonight is. We're pushing till Saturday. [00:15:20] Speaker D: The one last thing I will throw in real quick, though, because I, I was. I was like, oh, I have to bring this up later. And then I realized we're still talking about it. Hangman page is. He's the. He's a lefty Mr. Rogers baby face champion that I can fully believe would just murder a motherfucker from anywhere with that buckshot him on. Nowhere. [00:15:54] Speaker C: Anywhere there's a handrail that he could flip over. [00:15:56] Speaker B: He feels right as AEW champion, like. [00:15:58] Speaker D: He does because he's got this, this, this yippee little megalomaniac, no sock getting in his face, talking about leaving a pool of blood. And he's like, hey, man, I believe in you. Don't prove me wrong. It's. [00:16:14] Speaker B: What the is it? [00:16:16] Speaker D: You know, Kyle Fletcher's gonna go back and cry about his dad doesn't love him. Like, what the. He just destroyed him. Yeah, that's amazing. He'll. He'll get. Get it back in Pound of Flesh later. Anyways. [00:16:30] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah. Like we said, stuff that's building towards the pay per view. Next. We get a little Darby and Moxley video package. Really just a basic recap setting up the coffin match for Saturday. Just kind of going over everything. But that does lead us into Moxley versus Roderick Strong. They had a tag match on Collision where it was Mox and Garcia versus. Oh, I got Roddy and Kyle. It was good. Everything. I. They're fantastic wrestlers. [00:16:58] Speaker C: That explains this pairing for a match because I wasn't quite sure how this came about when I saw. Yeah, okay, Mox is coming out. He's gonna have a match against Roderick Strong. What? [00:17:09] Speaker B: Sure. [00:17:09] Speaker C: Okay. [00:17:10] Speaker B: Right? Yeah, like, it was not a super long one. It was more kind of like Daniel Garcia's first match as a Death Rider kind of thing. And doing his heels check. But yeah, it gives us Roddy vs. Mox, which is sick. [00:17:24] Speaker C: Explains why the first thing Roderick did was run in and immediately jump through the ropes to kick Daniel Garcia right in the face. [00:17:31] Speaker B: That was smart, too. And I love that. Like, that's the kind of, like, little touches that Roddy does in matches where it's like, okay, it's somebody thinking, like, how would I win this match? And actually executing it. [00:17:41] Speaker C: Take out the. The extra forces. [00:17:44] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a more good Danielson stuff where he says he gave up on you to be in the future of professional wrestling and kind of talks about background of the Death Riders and stuff. It's like, that's. Danielson is so fantastic. Just filling in these gaps. Like, he's such a natural commentator. [00:17:58] Speaker C: Yeah, he fits in with that table, like, perfectly. He's just, like, so insightful and also just loves pro wrestling. Like, the number of times, like, he's like, throughout the show tonight, like, I've never seen that. [00:18:13] Speaker D: Wow. [00:18:13] Speaker C: Like, yeah, legitimately is having a blast guy. [00:18:18] Speaker D: Yeah. He's just a little dude. He's the goal. He's no good boy. [00:18:22] Speaker B: He's talking about in this match how excited he is for Moiros and Dorado. He's like, I can't wait for that. That's gonna be sick. [00:18:28] Speaker C: Yeah, we'll get there. [00:18:32] Speaker D: I would like to finish. The point I started with talking about Taz, though, is that I think part of the reason they work so well is that I think Taz just respects the ever loving out of him as a wrestler. [00:18:44] Speaker B: Yeah, that's, I think, a big part of it. Yeah. [00:18:46] Speaker D: Yeah. So. So that he. I. I feel like Taz is just like, so jazz to have him there. [00:18:53] Speaker B: That's why he hates Excalibur. Because it's the opposite. Yeah. [00:18:57] Speaker C: Because there's. There's history and beef in the chemistry. [00:19:01] Speaker D: It's so good. [00:19:02] Speaker B: Excalibur is like the least pro wrestler, pro wrestler turned announcer ever. He wrestled for like a year, probably longer than that, for a few years in early pwg. But very opposite. [00:19:14] Speaker D: A. [00:19:14] Speaker B: But. [00:19:15] Speaker D: Yeah. No, so good. Very good. [00:19:18] Speaker B: Yeah. And I didn't have a ton on this match. Fun thing was there's a point where Marina gets in Roddy's face and she gets this little smile on her face because they're married in real life and then. [00:19:29] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, that's right. [00:19:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. She gives you. If you watch, she gets like a little blush and a little smile when they're facing off. And it's like Taz even makes mentions it real quick. [00:19:39] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:19:40] Speaker B: Then Garcia comes up and then Kyle gets in Garcia's face. It's like, are they married too? [00:19:47] Speaker C: I mean, they were. They were all but, like, dancing cheek to cheek. [00:19:51] Speaker B: Like, they were closer together than Marina and Roddy were. [00:19:54] Speaker D: Like, I would just like to quote our dear Internet saint, Chuck Taylor. I. I think the boy should get a little gay, too. I just. The girls come out and get kind of gay with it every week, and I think the boys should get a little gay with it. I'm just saying. Kia, do it. [00:20:15] Speaker B: Yeah. This match, it's good. A lot of big strikes, lots of big back breakers kind of thing. You expect From Max versus Roddy. I say there's kind of an awkward slam off the Mox from the top at the end. Garcia stops Roddy from rolling in the ring. Kyle attacks him, really runs up, trips Roddy, and then Mox hits the. I think the paradigm shift or not the actual Death Rider for the way. Yeah. Good little match. [00:20:38] Speaker C: I do think he gets him with the bulldog choke, if I remember correctly, but I could have it mixed up. [00:20:43] Speaker B: See, I thought he got. I thought he got him in the bulldog choke and they, like, rolled out of it and then. Yeah, it might have been. Either way. Yeah. Wheeler interferes and cost Roderick the match at the end. Yeah. Yeah. [00:20:57] Speaker D: I love that Mox has, like, a ver. He has. He has a version of the move then if you, like, hold it the button down. He lifts it up in. [00:21:07] Speaker B: Yeah, he's got a super finisher. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:21:10] Speaker D: He lifts it up into the full Death Rider, and they're both to do that. And I just. I just think that's neat. [00:21:16] Speaker B: They're both really good finisher names, too. Paradigm Shift is a sick name. [00:21:20] Speaker D: Did you say he has to have his special bar full, though? [00:21:23] Speaker C: He has to have two finishers saved. [00:21:25] Speaker D: Up to do that instead of two finishers there, though. [00:21:27] Speaker B: He has to taunt, too. He has to taunt a certain amount of times. Get it going. [00:21:31] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:21:31] Speaker B: We head to the back for a video package with MJF and Mark Briscoe for their match on Saturday, where Mark got to choose the stipulation. Through that stipulation, he has invented an entirely new match, a tables and tax mat. [00:21:44] Speaker C: The old tnt. [00:21:46] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm guessing it's essentially just a no DQ match, like, but with a focus on tables and tacks. [00:21:52] Speaker D: The word of the day is owie. [00:21:58] Speaker B: Which will be fun. Marx excels in that stuff, and MJF kills it whenever he has to do, like, crazy super violence. [00:22:05] Speaker C: Also all but threatened to kill Tony Khan in his little backstage thing where he's so great. Runs into duet Tony Khan's trailer. [00:22:16] Speaker B: Yeah, that's. This is clearly like, adr. Like, they just recorded this, like, in Tony's hot tub smoking a joint with Tony. [00:22:22] Speaker D: Siobhan, this is so. Yeah, right. Hurry up. But he's so. I. I love that. He clearly knows he can't be on camera because no one will buy it. [00:22:37] Speaker B: I'm glad he gives that distance. [00:22:38] Speaker D: I respect it. [00:22:40] Speaker C: Yes. [00:22:40] Speaker B: They just, like, the most he ever did was take that pile driver, really? And, like, the Martha Hart stuff. [00:22:46] Speaker D: I really would love him to lean into being this. He was giving me, like, I'm saying it out loud. His delivery was giving me gorilla monsoon vibes. I said it on the Internet. I'll say it again. [00:22:59] Speaker B: Yeah, that's fair. [00:22:59] Speaker D: And I think if you. If you keep him, like, in that sort of character, not showing him for a while on weekly television, there's going to be people who are new, people who, like, don't realize. [00:23:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:23:14] Speaker D: There was like, an old Tony and, like, that's how you build a kayfabe. And it's. It worked for me. I really think that they should lean into that. But also, I mean, I get you all the dude theater bits. Like, I'm a sick. Anyways, I think it's a. [00:23:29] Speaker C: Like, use him sparingly, like, when need to. Like, I think they do it. [00:23:33] Speaker B: Exactly. [00:23:35] Speaker C: I know it. Like, I get what you're saying about, like, people, like, not knowing who he is, should he show up. But, like, there's mention of Tony Khan, the figure announced. [00:23:43] Speaker B: Yeah. They say it on, like, commentary and. [00:23:45] Speaker D: Yeah, no, exactly. [00:23:47] Speaker B: Yeah. And also, I think the part of the reason they did it this way is because Tony Khan is not great at reading lines, so they probably couldn't have done it live and they needed to, like, do some performer. So it's a good way to handle it. Like, you're gonna use. [00:24:03] Speaker D: He's a weird little billionaire guy. He doesn't gotta act. [00:24:05] Speaker B: He's our weird little wrestling autistic billionaire that we love. [00:24:09] Speaker D: He just has to pay Jon Moxley to do Jon Moxley is what he is. [00:24:15] Speaker B: Yeah, it's fun. [00:24:16] Speaker C: And MJF basically comes in, says, like, hey, I don't want to be in that match. And Tony says, well, you're an tough. [00:24:24] Speaker B: Yeah. Because he owes him nothing. Yeah. [00:24:28] Speaker C: MJF storms out. [00:24:30] Speaker D: I enjoyed that greatly. [00:24:32] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:24:33] Speaker B: Yeah. He says that it's. MJF says it's gonna be on Tony when he puts another Briscoe in the dirt. [00:24:38] Speaker C: Yes. [00:24:38] Speaker D: That was a line. [00:24:41] Speaker B: Yep. A lot of dead brother stuff. Yeah. We go from that to Bobby Lashley versus Toleona. [00:24:47] Speaker C: Bob v Toa. [00:24:49] Speaker B: Yeah. This is our meat match. This is our big old boys. And Holy. [00:24:54] Speaker D: This is a beefy one. [00:24:55] Speaker C: What a. An entrance from Toa Leona. [00:24:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Yep. I love the traditional. I love that he wears traditional Samoan garb and Bishop Khan wears the traditional Cameroonian garb. Like, that looks amazing every time. [00:25:09] Speaker D: I like those two a lot. [00:25:11] Speaker B: I do, too. I always felt like they just really need, like, some time to shine and they really are getting that with ricochet. Baron. Yeah. The Ricochet and Khan come out with toe up. Bobby comes out with Shelton and MVP. Taz says that he used to bench press £620 and everybody laughs. And then Taz says, maybe that's a lie. Excalibur says, yeah, maybe I'll put together throughout all of your bench presses. [00:25:39] Speaker D: It's cumulative. Yeah, that's a sum. [00:25:42] Speaker B: You know, really like, my big takeaway from this match is how over Bobby Lashley is as like a face to people are can't in his name throughout this. He is getting like, cute like the. The hurts indicate always should have been face. I'm sorry. Like, I get the whole MGS story and everything, but no, people love them. [00:26:02] Speaker D: I think it's gonna end up working out in their favor. The fact that they tried to make him heal, they built up they. Because they give him a. They really built that character and now they can ride that character into the fact that everyone just loves them. And they're like, yeah, give us. They're over. They're just. [00:26:18] Speaker C: The turn already happened and we haven't even had the pay per view match. [00:26:20] Speaker D: Like, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Like, the turn has just been naturally occurring. [00:26:25] Speaker B: And putting them first up against Ricochet as their first like, kind of face. And he's like the ultimate heat getter right now. So people are even more on their side. Yep, some crazy throughout this match too. Just a few Toa taking doing that Samoan drop to Bobby Lashley on the apron. [00:26:43] Speaker C: Oh, my God, that looked brutal. [00:26:45] Speaker D: Oh, I forgot about that. Yeah. [00:26:47] Speaker B: Jesus Christ. Bobby bounced like off that apron. [00:26:52] Speaker D: He a big dude too. Like, that's a big guy. [00:26:56] Speaker C: Oh, that's a lot of meat. [00:26:57] Speaker D: Slamming down so much meat. [00:27:00] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, even there's a spot where Bobby like goes to hit a spear on Toa and Toa rolls to the outside and Bobby gets outside and runs and hits Toa with the biggest fucking spear I have ever seen in my life. [00:27:13] Speaker C: He just picks up so much speed. He runs around like, I don't know, a good like two thirds of the ring and then just nails him, cuts him in half. [00:27:20] Speaker B: This man is like 50. I don't get it. [00:27:23] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:27:24] Speaker B: Kim and Shelton from Wisconsin. [00:27:27] Speaker D: One Wisconsinite to another because I know he's a Packer fan at least. I'm sorry, Braun Strowman, he. He wore it better. [00:27:36] Speaker B: Yeah. Bobby does a better. True, true spot. [00:27:38] Speaker D: Bobby does the better train spot. [00:27:40] Speaker B: Holy. [00:27:43] Speaker C: Yeah, this what a just a perfect character. Like, just getting called the Almighty is a perfect tagline for him. He's Built like a brick house. [00:27:55] Speaker B: I say it helps that he genuinely looks like a like statue of a Greek God. Like. [00:28:00] Speaker D: Yeah, because he's like Hercules. [00:28:03] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. Yeah. He looks mythical. [00:28:05] Speaker C: He's one of the four people who can do a credible threatening full nelson, which. Oh yeah, he ends up getting him in. [00:28:12] Speaker B: It doesn't look like a half ass wrestle. That looks like a vicious finish. [00:28:16] Speaker D: I've been watching that guy ragged all for so long now with that move and that. And it just never doesn't look awful to like be a part. Like it just looks like he's killing them every time. I love. Speaking of, this finish was. [00:28:30] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:28:32] Speaker D: He toa sold the out of it. Grabbing the. The ref like don't you dare. And like passing out, holding the red shirt. [00:28:43] Speaker C: Awesome. [00:28:43] Speaker B: Holy. Before that too. MVP hits Ricochet with one of the best work punches I've ever seen in my life. Like. Yeah, sorry, I'm saying a lot of things are the best I've ever seen in my life. I'm being hyperbolic. [00:28:55] Speaker D: No, this is a banger. [00:28:57] Speaker B: It's great. And then he just. And then he whips them like. MVP looking great. [00:29:02] Speaker C: Ricochet sounds like a Spider man action figure. [00:29:08] Speaker D: Oh no, that's a great segue because I wanted. This is the part where I was like, oh, we gotta talk about the cane. Can we talk about MVP in the cane? Yeah, so. Because clearly it turns into a cluster. [00:29:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:29:21] Speaker D: He's gonna heal, right? [00:29:22] Speaker B: Yep. Pier 6 bra. [00:29:24] Speaker D: Pier 6 brawl. But at a certain point, MVP breaks his cane over Ricochet's back. [00:29:32] Speaker B: Yeah. That was sick. [00:29:34] Speaker D: It's like you're. It's like your, your, your younger sibling took the action figure and just bent it. But it wasn't a bendy guy, you know. And he just gave him this arch and he just rolled ring and just like writhed and just. Man, I hate to be that person that's like. Well, the other federation fumbled the bang. They fumbled this Ricochet guy. [00:29:58] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:29:58] Speaker D: So hard. [00:29:59] Speaker B: Without me. [00:30:01] Speaker C: Everyone else who's had him has made him the star that he should be and they just didn't. [00:30:06] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:30:07] Speaker B: And he's on the run of his life right now. I mean they really like, they aw. Figured out how to mesh that like character with the in ring work to like just be. He's top of his game. [00:30:16] Speaker D: And then. Yeah. And then the crowd gives us the most like earned ever MVP chant. [00:30:23] Speaker B: Oh yeah. [00:30:23] Speaker D: Like he's having the run of his life. Like he's barely even reasoned, like not even wrestled. I don't. [00:30:29] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:29] Speaker D: Yeah, like one match or something like that, like. [00:30:32] Speaker B: Yeah, I think he's done one in aew, and he's done, like. He's done bloodsport and stuff like that. [00:30:37] Speaker D: Yeah, he did some indies. Yeah, but, like. [00:30:39] Speaker B: Yeah, but no, this is gonna be a slip. Yeah. Saturday's gonna be his, like, second match in aew. [00:30:43] Speaker C: Yeah. All six of those guys look like they're having, like, the most fun in this program right now. [00:30:49] Speaker B: I think that trio's match might be, like, a sleeper match on the car. [00:30:53] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:30:53] Speaker B: I mean, the whole card's stacked, but I think that could be one where it's like, oh, that was way better than it had any right to be. Yeah. We go to commercial and we come back to Tony Schiavone once again in the ring, stoned off his ass. Tony, he's in the ring for Cope and Christian facing off with ftr. [00:31:13] Speaker D: Christian and Cope. Christian and Coke. [00:31:16] Speaker B: Yes. Yes. Yeah. CNC Bondage Factory or whatever it is. We get some very big Canadian pops for Cope and Christian. A very. A perfectly okay sing along of Metalingus. I'll say. [00:31:35] Speaker C: This is where you do it. You do it. When it comes to Canada, let the Canadians do it. Cope, you got to come up with something else to do instead of standing there in the ring with your hands on your hips going, boy, are we gonna sing it yet? Because that's so awkward. [00:31:51] Speaker B: Yeah. It reminds me of this, like, story in a book about the history of the D.C. punk scene. And they talk about Rights of Spring, one of the first emo bands coming out. And, like, when they were their first, like, big shows, everybody threw roses at them at the end of the show. And it was this big, magical, like, moment that really, like, established the band. But then people did it the next show, and then they did it the next show. [00:32:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:32:14] Speaker B: And they kept doing it. And it stopped being the spontaneous fun, like, outpouring between creator and crowd and was just this rote and rocky horror, like. Yeah, yeah. [00:32:25] Speaker C: Viewing like this isn't kind of deal. [00:32:27] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. It's got. It's. It's not organic. Stoke and FDR come out and they're boot out of the building. I will say Toronto throughout the. Or wherever this is. London, Ontario, somewhere in Canada. The crowd is fantastic. A couple of dumb little chants, but they're very enthusiastic throughout this. [00:32:47] Speaker D: You're either Toronto or Calgary. Okay. Christ. [00:32:52] Speaker B: Yeah. They're somewhere across the Great Lakes from me. I don't know which. [00:32:56] Speaker C: They're up in the great white White. [00:32:59] Speaker B: Letter kind of heart country, but, yeah. Tony says that there will be heavy fines if there's any physicality during this segment. Stokely gets the mic and clarifies that there's a hundred thousand dollar fine if they touch either member of ftr. If they touch Big Stoke, it's a five hundred thousand dollar fine and the match will be canceled. Which I thought was very good. Stokely says that it will disappoint everybody that Cope loves. And all the people who want to see this match say Cash gets the mic. And I guess I, maybe I knew this, but I guess ft Cope have a long history going back where he like put them up in their house and like got them their first kids. Did he live in North Carolina or something that I wasn't aware of? [00:33:41] Speaker D: I know, I know that he was involved a lot when they were with the Fed. [00:33:46] Speaker B: Yeah, like early days. Yeah, yeah. [00:33:49] Speaker D: In like early days. But I know that when Edge came back. Sorry, Cope. [00:33:54] Speaker B: Yeah, no, rated our superstar, Adam Copeland. Say his full name. [00:34:00] Speaker D: Say my full name. Good bit. So, no, I remember when he came back from the career ender, I think FTR like really helped train him up and like getting back into being ring. [00:34:14] Speaker B: Yeah, you might be that. Actually, that does ring a bell. Yeah. So they do. They go back and that's kind of like the overarching theme of this segment. [00:34:22] Speaker D: That's why when Edge was still in the Fed at one point, I forget what the match was, but one of his last matches in the Fed, he did Shatter Machine. [00:34:32] Speaker B: Yeah, that's right. [00:34:33] Speaker C: Oh, okay. [00:34:34] Speaker D: And everyone was like, oh, yeah. Oh, he's going, he's going. [00:34:41] Speaker B: We actually do get some like more crossover stuff throughout this promo. After Cash has the mic, Dax gets it. I said he's not going to yell over people. He's going to say his piece. Same kind of thing. Talks about how their relationship with coping Christian and then talks about like says Copen. Christian used to be some of the best, but they were carried by other teams. Like FTR carried Enzo and Big Cass. Well, Big Bill. Now he mentions Chad Gable and Jason Jordan. He mentions Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano referencing back to the nxt, stuff like that. [00:35:13] Speaker D: A lot of those guys got allegations. [00:35:17] Speaker B: Actually, I don't nobody they mentioned. Do you? [00:35:20] Speaker D: Enzo. [00:35:20] Speaker B: Enzo. That's true. [00:35:21] Speaker D: I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure. [00:35:24] Speaker B: I think, yeah. Chad Gable have anything I didn't think. [00:35:28] Speaker D: Oh, never mind thinking. [00:35:29] Speaker B: Gable. [00:35:29] Speaker D: Stevenson. Sorry. [00:35:30] Speaker B: Every time. Yeah, no, no. Different game. Yeah, yeah. No Chad Gable school seem like cool dudes. [00:35:38] Speaker D: Yes. All those folks I Heard Gable Stevenson as a Minnesota. And every time I hear that name, I have to go him, like, again. [00:35:45] Speaker B: Well, and again, like, they're both amateur wrestling guys with that same first to last. It's an easy mistake to make. [00:35:51] Speaker D: Anyways, continue. [00:35:52] Speaker C: Deep breath. [00:35:54] Speaker B: We got. Yeah. I thought that was a fun little crossover reference, you know, showing, like, oh, wrestling is not just these individual companies. It's an entire world. [00:36:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:36:02] Speaker B: Cope grabs the mic and tells them to shut the hell up. Speaking of things that are kind of overwearing, they are welcome. He says that Stokely knows all about disappointment because he gets no hope. [00:36:11] Speaker C: I had the exact same thought and feeling as soon as he said that line. I was like, we're still doing that one? [00:36:17] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. We're running this into the ground. Huh? So that's where we're at. I'm okay with it. I know. It's just. It's diminishing returns for me, but I'm. It's what. It's what wrestling does. Something gets over. [00:36:29] Speaker C: Yep. [00:36:30] Speaker B: You do it till it doesn't. Then you do. Just. [00:36:32] Speaker D: We just talked about what. [00:36:34] Speaker B: Yeah, the metal English. Very, very similar. There's a good line where he says, while you were getting bass in your voice, we were revolutionizing tag team wrestling. And there's the line that we mentioned earlier where says, there's only one coping cage. And Christian grabs the mic very subtly and brings over to his mouth and. [00:36:48] Speaker D: Goes, Cajun Co. Alphabetical. [00:36:53] Speaker C: So he's right. [00:36:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:55] Speaker D: Fair. He's fair. Yeah. [00:36:57] Speaker B: Yeah. It was actually a pretty good promo from Adam Copeland, in my opinion. Like, it was really fired up and fun, but Christian completely steals the show with that line. Then he grabs the mic and says, the fines don't mean anything to him because he's rich. And then HDR with the mic, pops. [00:37:12] Speaker C: FTR bald right in the face. Like, to the point where he broke his nose, I think. [00:37:20] Speaker B: Yeah. I saw on Twitter today that Dash does have a broken nose from getting it legit by the side of it. [00:37:26] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. No, he was. Gosh, yeah. [00:37:29] Speaker C: Sure. [00:37:29] Speaker D: That's a shoot, brother. [00:37:31] Speaker B: Yep. He says he's still on for Saturday, but he does have a broken nose, and I thought that was fun. Like I said, Christian kind of just completely stole it at the end. Yeah. [00:37:40] Speaker D: Can we get him a kitty cat mask like Harley Cameron? [00:37:43] Speaker C: That would be. [00:37:44] Speaker B: That would be amazing. [00:37:46] Speaker D: You'd be FTR kitty cat. [00:37:51] Speaker B: What's the Bald cats. FTR Sphinx. Yeah. FDR Gun and FDR Sphinx in fdr no hose. [00:38:01] Speaker C: No, he. Now he Becomes FDR bold. [00:38:03] Speaker D: Yeah. He got promotion. Stokely. [00:38:09] Speaker B: Stokely is kind of like the meowth of ftr. Yeah. If they're team Rocket. He is meowed. [00:38:18] Speaker C: Stokely. [00:38:18] Speaker B: That's right. Big Stoke, big stout. That's pretty. Yeah. We go backstage to Renee and the Young Bucks. Renee congratulates the Young bucks on winning $500,000 in the last match. Nick is. There's gonna be a recurring story element coming up. Nick is throwing that money around like a dumb. Losing it at the casinos. And you can tell Matt is getting pissed off. He is getting glaring, like, every time. There's a fun little bit where Nick apologizes to Renee for being rude to her in the past and gives her $10,000. [00:38:58] Speaker D: She's like, I like the young bucks. The young bucks are good. [00:39:01] Speaker B: Yeah. She's like, yeah. Young bucks. Let's go. Young bucks. [00:39:04] Speaker C: The biggest young buck. Biggest young bucks mark ever. If they gave me 10k right now. [00:39:10] Speaker B: No. Yeah. She made a post on Twitter about it. She's like, yeah, I always love the young bucks. I don't know what everyone's talking about. [00:39:16] Speaker D: Super kick party forever. 10 grand right now. [00:39:18] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:39:20] Speaker D: Super kick party tattooed on my ass. Let's go. [00:39:23] Speaker C: I would probably do that for less than 10k, but I digress. [00:39:26] Speaker D: A couple months, right? [00:39:27] Speaker B: Yeah. Pay my utilities. We'll see. [00:39:29] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:39:29] Speaker B: Yeah. Come on, Nick. [00:39:32] Speaker D: I would. [00:39:32] Speaker C: I would get that for a hot dog and a handshake. That's. [00:39:35] Speaker B: There you go. [00:39:38] Speaker C: That's. That's a shoot. If you want to have. [00:39:40] Speaker B: You want to pay for my tattoo? I was showing my parents the clips from that. That GCW match. I went like. And all the super violence in it. And my mom's like, how much do they get paid? I'm like, well, the old joke is a hot dog and a handshake. Yeah. [00:39:54] Speaker C: Is that what they paid you for? You to take a bump? [00:39:57] Speaker B: No, I do that for the love of the game. I sold for Dr. Reddick. No, he actually. I genuinely couldn't help it. Take me off my feet. Oh. [00:40:14] Speaker D: I wasn't prepared for how, like, in actuality tall of a mongoose you are. Yeah, yeah. You're very tall for a mongoose. But he sat you the down, sir, didn't you? [00:40:24] Speaker B: No, and that's why I did. Well, that's. He was doing it to everybody going around, and I was like, all right, I'm bigger. I got, like, 4 inches on this guy. Probably, like, he'd come up and, like, the second his hands touched my shoulder, my legs Just got out from under me. It's like, Jesus Christ. It's like an action move. [00:40:42] Speaker C: That's so good. [00:40:45] Speaker B: All right, back to aew though. The last segment is leading into the Young Bucks versus the Bang Bang Gang for a tag team qualifier match for the ladder match on Saturday. They're doing a four way ladder match for the world tag team titles because Tony Khan loves me. [00:41:01] Speaker D: Yeah. Oh, my God. Last time he did that, you almost killed him, Martin brother. So like I. Oh, my God. [00:41:10] Speaker B: My favorite. I am a spot fest person. I like crazy super nuts car crash matches. [00:41:16] Speaker C: And that is what this Saturday, I think. [00:41:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:41:21] Speaker D: I like. I like me a car crash. Here's the thing. And it's a callback to the last segment. They did it to death, but God, I love me a tlc. It's. There's some of. Just the tables, ladders and chairs. You set up a bunch of it and you say, have fun, kids. Bleed for me. [00:41:40] Speaker C: Get out there and draw when it's done. Right. It's. Yeah, kind of the best. [00:41:45] Speaker D: It's kind of great. [00:41:47] Speaker B: Yeah. Anyways, we get more of the Young Buck story where Nick has bribed the production team to give them a good intro. So they get their old music back. They get this the was it sever, not severance succession intro. [00:42:01] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:42:01] Speaker B: And so much pyro. [00:42:03] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:42:05] Speaker B: Genuinely like giving people from the crowd PTSD levels of pyro going off. [00:42:11] Speaker C: They're just standing there cheering it on. [00:42:17] Speaker B: The audience with a Young Bucks are the best tag team ever. And Nick comes over and gives her money too. Yeah. [00:42:24] Speaker C: That was awesome. [00:42:28] Speaker B: I do miss the full Bang Bang Gang. Seeing that, like half entrance always makes me sad. Like, come on, guys. Yeah. [00:42:34] Speaker D: I like the cutouts. I mean, they're doing the cutouts. [00:42:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:42:39] Speaker D: Juice. Juice made me Sad for maybe Ms. Jay White, but we'll get there. [00:42:44] Speaker B: Yeah. This ends up being another fun match. It's a little perfunctory. I mean, it's. I think everyone kind of knew where this was going. [00:42:51] Speaker C: That's how I felt about most of the tag matches tonight. [00:42:54] Speaker B: Yeah. All these ones, all of them ended how I expected them to. [00:42:59] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:43:00] Speaker B: Still good. There's a very funny part where they're talking about Austin Gunn and how Austin calls himself the best slider in AEW for like, slider on the mat. Danielson says they had a slide off before the show. Taz says, I can see that. And Danielson goes, he beat me soundly. A little back and forth is very fun. [00:43:21] Speaker D: I've always wondered how the. You do that without just ruining your. [00:43:26] Speaker B: I Practice, practice, practice. And baby oil. [00:43:29] Speaker C: And also baby oil. And also ruining your. Like. [00:43:34] Speaker B: It probably just hurts a little. [00:43:37] Speaker D: Like everything in wrestling. How do they do? [00:43:40] Speaker B: Yeah, it sucks. [00:43:43] Speaker C: Yeah, it just hurts. [00:43:45] Speaker D: Have you had a hot dog and a handshake? [00:43:48] Speaker C: Not in a while. [00:43:49] Speaker D: Not a while. [00:43:52] Speaker B: For shooting. There's a. There's another fun spot with the money where Nick tries to bribe Rick Knox and Rick Knox rejects it and flings the money up into the air. So it's all over the rest the ring for the rest of the match. Austin goes for a roll up off of it, gets two, they do. Juice gets a hot tag, comes in, cleans house, does his stick with the sentons and the jabs and everything. Very fun. Juice is definitely the better of the two. Like, I like the guns well enough, but like Austin, he botches a couple things here. Misses a destroyer at one point. [00:44:28] Speaker D: Yeah, like, but also Juice Robinson is just so good. [00:44:34] Speaker B: He really is. And I'm not trying to. Yeah. Just there's a. There's a gap to me between them. That's obvious. Yeah, yeah. [00:44:42] Speaker D: No, he's one of the ones that. I'm sorry. See, because like he was. I would have missed him because I didn't watch T at all. Or New Japan. Yeah. [00:44:55] Speaker B: Because it was mostly New Japan for a long time. [00:44:57] Speaker D: I just love that they're like, here have this awful gimmick. [00:45:02] Speaker B: It's funny, the only thing Juice really did in NXT was break Kevin Owens nose and then got like, became a young boy in New Japan. Like the next week they're like, don't get the out of here. [00:45:10] Speaker D: Get the out of here is like the best thing that ever happened apparently. And I feel like that probably more than just that one time. And I'm so happy. You should give more people to New Japan and leave them alone. [00:45:21] Speaker B: Fed. [00:45:22] Speaker D: Leave all the good people alone. Go away. No one likes it. [00:45:25] Speaker B: Ends with the Bucks hitting the Meltzer driver for the win. It's a good match. Like I said, a couple little iffy spots. Matt scoops up all the money off the ring and Nick grabs the bag and they run off. [00:45:36] Speaker C: I thought like scrounging for the dollar bills at the end was cute. That was. [00:45:40] Speaker B: That was a good touch. Again showing Matt like annoyed at Nick just holding the money like on man. They do a quick little video package for big 8 person women's tornado tag match. That's going to be on the hour before pre show thing. Tailgate brawl. Tailgate brawl. The same eight women who have Been fighting on and off, driving on and off on for like the last six weeks while they build to a women's blood and guts. [00:46:05] Speaker C: Probably basically everybody who has a partner involved in the Fatal four way needed something to do and have an eight person attack match. [00:46:15] Speaker B: Exactly. Yeah. Then we move on to. To me like the match I was most looking to along with Brian Danielson the Beast. Mortals versus Mascara Dorada for the spot in the Triple Threat Unified Title, which the two other spots were decided on Saturday. Collision with Okada beating Michael Oku from England and Konosuke Tadeshta beating Anthony Bowens for the other two spots. And this slaps. [00:46:43] Speaker D: This was just. I again I felt like I was Bryan Danielson. I saw that I never seen before. Yeah, like Jesus Christ. I'm just gonna lay out after I say my favorite move of this match was. I believe it was Dorada got himself out of a back breaker and like rolled like tornadoed down Mordos's back and caught him into a crucifix. Driver Ye. Like hardest I've ever seen anyone do that spot. And I just myself. It was just I'm a lady, but like I'm a lady who herself because the. Oh my God. Anyways. [00:47:30] Speaker C: I think this had my. My Taz of the night where they're talking about the Beast. Mortos does the spot where he does like the little tornado spin as he jumps out. [00:47:40] Speaker B: You got the same thing. I was just about to say, yeah, incredible spot. [00:47:43] Speaker C: Always is. Is impressive. And they ask like Taz, you think in your prime you could have done that spot? And at this point Mortals goes and punches Dorada and Taz goes that punch. [00:47:55] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, perfect. Then Cass says, or Excalibur says, yeah, maybe you could have done that spinning die off a roof. And Taz is like, I don't even think I could have. I would have just sank. [00:48:06] Speaker C: But yeah, I could have done that off a building. He's like, nah, I just sort of fell flat like later on. [00:48:13] Speaker B: Taz does say he could have done a dive like that, but only at the dojo. He didn't do it at the actual shows because he didn't want to like show people up. [00:48:20] Speaker C: Yeah, he did it. He did it in the gym. [00:48:21] Speaker B: Danielson says that he thinks he's lying. Yeah, just crazy match all throughout. Big nasty spots all over the place. These guys. [00:48:31] Speaker C: Yeah, this is, this is the one to go watch. [00:48:33] Speaker D: Yeah, this, it was just. Oh, gross. [00:48:38] Speaker B: Yeah, there's one little bocce spot where Dorada goes for like this rope bounce into a Destroyer. But mortals actually ends up saving it because he rolls through it and it looks like it was something, you know, almost on purpose for him. Yeah, These guys have just great chemistry. Yeah, yeah. Dorada hits a really cool like, flinging back breaker where he like throws mortos into the air and he lands on his back, back lands on Dorada's knees and he hits him with the shooting star for the win. [00:49:07] Speaker C: I do love that Dorada does all this like just ridiculous throughout the entire match. And then like, what does he win with just a clean shooting star Press. That's it. [00:49:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:49:18] Speaker C: Awesome. [00:49:18] Speaker D: I love Lucha libre, is what I say to that. [00:49:21] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:49:25] Speaker C: The coolest. [00:49:26] Speaker B: Yeah. Dorado wins and he's going to be our third contestant in the title match on Saturday. Which brings out Okada with Don Callis. And coming out behind them by himself is Konosuke Takeshita. He comes out and he gets an Okada's face. And you got Don kind of trying to play like peacemaker between them. Back and forth. Dorada hits a huge fucking springboard splash from the top rope to the outside, taking out just Okada. Takeshiti backed out of the way, but just insane distance on that. [00:49:59] Speaker C: And then Takeshita and Dorada have a bit of a stare down. [00:50:03] Speaker B: Yeah. This is leading. I think we're all know to catch the turning face. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's how he's been working in New Japan. It's been coming for a long time. [00:50:13] Speaker C: He's all but there. [00:50:15] Speaker B: Yeah. I won't be surprised if they do something where Okada retains on Saturday and they set up a one on one title match for him versus Takashta or something, you know. Yeah, Very, very cool stuff. We go to a Toni Storm promo, which I got the first little bit written down here. She says she's the. The. You all adore the slut. You can't rebot this trollop. You can't wallop the skank you want to spank. This tramp is still the champ. But she wonders for how much longer. [00:50:45] Speaker C: Preach it, sister. [00:50:47] Speaker B: Just fantastic. [00:50:50] Speaker C: Always. [00:50:50] Speaker D: Oh, my God. Every time. And I'm just. I'm done. She's trying to. He's it. And everyone's like, no. Like, dude, she should be. I say it every week. She should be champ for a good long time until it's like, let it run its natural course and it's still over as. [00:51:07] Speaker C: Yep. [00:51:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:51:08] Speaker D: Like, she tried to tell everyone, I've had this for months or whatever. And everyone's like, Jody Storm forever. [00:51:18] Speaker C: Forever. [00:51:18] Speaker B: She talks about all the people she beat and how she loved every bloody, sexually questionable second of it right now. [00:51:25] Speaker D: Dude boys. Chuck Taylor. Dude boys. [00:51:28] Speaker B: Yeah. There's a fantastic. She says if she does lose at the Four Way on Saturday, she wants everyone to know it's been the honor of her life. She suggests to her opponents if they want her title, they're going to have to burn her body to the ground, stick her ashes in a pipe and take a big puff because no one can get them as high as her. Which that's basically. I. I say the same thing about myself all the time. [00:51:49] Speaker D: I was gonna say, can I try? [00:51:53] Speaker B: You don't smoke ashes, though. But I still appreciate. [00:51:56] Speaker C: Maybe you don't. [00:51:58] Speaker B: I've used them as like a filter for underneath the weed so it doesn't pull through. Well, that human ash. But like weed. Yeah. That's why from the crematorium. [00:52:09] Speaker D: I'm about to hit hard times. [00:52:11] Speaker B: A little dab of grandma. Put it in the bowl. And that is not going to go in the back of your throat. [00:52:15] Speaker D: Yeah, I know I'm about to hit hard times. That is. And I don't. I don't think I would even hit ash. [00:52:23] Speaker B: Jimmy hater comes on out after this, says that Tony can keep the spotlight because without the title it is nothing. And remember three things that Jamie doesn't forget. That Jamie invite or that Tony invited Jamie. And that heater hits hard. We got stat coming out afterwards saying she doesn't really have a claim to the title and hasn't chanced for the belt in four years. Okay, well, Fair moon. Thank you. Stack and then says the other women don't have ovaries. [00:52:54] Speaker D: They don't have the ovaries for this. Yeah. [00:52:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:58] Speaker D: And I was like, yes. Oh, I love. I'm sorry. I'm always gonna go to Chris Statlander. [00:53:04] Speaker B: Because I love Chris. [00:53:06] Speaker C: Y' all ever just women? [00:53:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:10] Speaker D: You ever. [00:53:11] Speaker C: You ever just women? [00:53:13] Speaker B: Yeah. You ever. [00:53:13] Speaker D: Like when Just. I'm sorry. I know Jeff. Jeff doesn't have this condition that we have, but just. God, but you ever just women? You know, I mean, we're about to. [00:53:25] Speaker B: Women very hard for the next few minutes. Yes. [00:53:28] Speaker D: Oh, I'm ready. [00:53:29] Speaker C: There's one person missing from that little shoot. [00:53:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:32] Speaker C: Trio. [00:53:33] Speaker B: There's. Yeah. [00:53:34] Speaker C: Who interrupts the. Interrupts their little promo battle. [00:53:37] Speaker B: She runs them off like she just comes out with her music played and scatters them because she is insane. [00:53:44] Speaker C: What a cool. [00:53:47] Speaker B: Yeah. And this transitions into Tekla versus Queen Aminata in a no holds barred man. So speaking of the other like, most amazing women. Fucking Queen Aminata's out here too. Just astounding people and. [00:53:59] Speaker D: Yeah, exactly. You ever did that thing. Because women. [00:54:03] Speaker B: Yes. [00:54:05] Speaker C: 30 to 40 minutes. It's just like. Yeah. [00:54:08] Speaker B: I stood next to Queen Aminata in Vegas while waiting for Ubers for, like, a couple minutes, and I was like, oh, my knees are really shaky here. This is crazy. [00:54:17] Speaker D: Is she just. Is she just huge? [00:54:21] Speaker B: No, she's small. [00:54:22] Speaker D: She's tiny. [00:54:23] Speaker C: For some reason, you gotta remember that he is, like, 8ft tall. [00:54:29] Speaker B: Yeah. So she's probably, like, normal height for a woman, like, five, four, five, five something. Okay. [00:54:34] Speaker D: For some reason I feel like she's really. It's always. [00:54:37] Speaker B: No, she wasn't. She wasn't any bigger than anyone else was. [00:54:40] Speaker D: It's just the aura. [00:54:42] Speaker B: Yeah, that's exactly. She has straight aura. [00:54:44] Speaker C: It adds a couple inches to the height. [00:54:47] Speaker D: No, no, that's. I love. I love professional wrestling because it can just do that. Damn. Like, everyone feels like they're huge. [00:54:53] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. This match is huge. [00:54:57] Speaker C: A train wreck of the best kind. [00:55:00] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, I think we all knew this was gonna rule just once they announced who was in it and what kind of match it was. Kekla has been a revelation in aew. Like, I never. I'm not a stardom person, so I never really watched. I know there's some people who didn't like her, like, last bit and stardom because of her heel run or whatever, but everything I've seen from her, I think it's amazing. [00:55:19] Speaker C: Yeah. Just a perfect. Another perfect, like, wrestling package of just the look, the mannerisms, the wrestling is awesome. [00:55:30] Speaker B: I feel like she's become the de facto leader of the Triangle of Madness. [00:55:34] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:55:35] Speaker B: Like, I feel like it started out with Julia was kind of running it, but it's like, no, they realize, like, Tekla is. She's the center of this, and sky and Julia are. [00:55:45] Speaker D: They got, like, the shining twins thing going. [00:55:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:55:50] Speaker C: The fact was Sisters of Madness or something like. No, it's sisters. [00:55:54] Speaker B: It's a triangle of madness. And they're like the. The Weird sisters. [00:55:58] Speaker C: The sisters of something. They named them. [00:56:00] Speaker B: They said something. [00:56:02] Speaker D: We're the tag team. Yeah, we're the tag team. [00:56:06] Speaker C: Come wrestle with us. [00:56:08] Speaker D: Come wrestle with us. And I'm just over here, like, ah, yes, I will, please. [00:56:13] Speaker B: Okay. [00:56:14] Speaker D: Where. [00:56:17] Speaker B: There'S one, like, particularly crazy part where Tecla throws Aminata over the barricade and then jumps on the barricade with a trash can lid and jumps off and just cracks Aminata on the top of the Head with it. [00:56:28] Speaker C: Like, a lot of headshots with that. That trash can lit. [00:56:31] Speaker B: Yeah. It's gotta be safe. It wouldn't be on TV if it wasn't. [00:56:35] Speaker C: Yeah, it wouldn't be in pro wrestling and on TV if it was safe. [00:56:38] Speaker B: Exactly. Yeah. They. They. They load the ring up with chairs and kendo sticks. I mean, they just go to town on stuff here. [00:56:47] Speaker C: There's another one where Tecla goes to jump off the barricade and Aminata just nails her in the stomach with a Kento stick. [00:56:55] Speaker B: So I like the part two where Tecla is on the ropes and I'm not. Like, nails her with a big punch and then drapes her into, like, a ddt off the ropes into the trash. [00:57:06] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. She's like, swung it into a cutter almost, too. [00:57:10] Speaker B: Yeah. And after that, Tecla spears Aminata into a chair, like, and the chair doesn't break her. It just, like. No. Slams into her back. [00:57:19] Speaker C: Yeah, she just catches it right in the lower back. And, like, it looked brutal. There's the. The corner spot, too, where they're both up in the corner. Aminata and then Tekla ringside, and she, like, does the, like, arch down, grabs a trash can lid, like, sits back up, swaps Aminata in the head, goes back down, comes back up, does the. [00:57:47] Speaker B: Like, spider suplex kind of thing, is. [00:57:50] Speaker C: What they call it. Yeah. And then, like, whips off into the. Just incredible, incredible core strength and like. [00:57:57] Speaker B: I was gonna say core strength. Like that is plan upon planks. Upon planks. [00:58:01] Speaker C: Yeah. It's just so cool saying that. [00:58:04] Speaker B: Aminata hits her with a fisherman buster onto the chairs that just look brutal. Like, big. This is awesome chance. Like, rightfully so. And yeah. [00:58:15] Speaker D: Rocks like, I'm so. This whole women's division is just we. I know I say it a lot. It's got. Do you all remember how bad, how bleak was a couple years ago? [00:58:27] Speaker B: It was. [00:58:27] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:58:28] Speaker B: It wasn't great. Y' all remember. [00:58:32] Speaker D: Remember Sariah? [00:58:34] Speaker C: Unfortunately. [00:58:38] Speaker B: Hey, that's what gave us. That is what gave us timeless Tony Storm. [00:58:41] Speaker D: Yeah. Oh, my God. She sucked so bad. She had a break. You didn't think. Yeah. [00:58:49] Speaker B: And the one thing I would. I miss more than anything is Ruby. Ruby Soho. Yeah, I know. She's a mom now and doing stuff. I do hope she returns someday, though, because she's always been one of my absolute, absolute favorites. [00:59:00] Speaker D: Yes. And I missed has Singing her theme song. [00:59:03] Speaker B: Yeah. Don't see it on Botchaman. [00:59:10] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:59:14] Speaker B: Stomps Aminata onto the chairs, does the big, like, Seth Rollins stomp onto it and gets the way. And she grabs the mic and she just starts going crazy. She's just hollering like, she's just yelling. [00:59:24] Speaker C: She's like, oh, oh. I didn't write down what she said. [00:59:26] Speaker B: But basically she says Tony can stop looking because her end is right here. Like this. Yeah. Pure energy. [00:59:35] Speaker C: And then it just breaks down into a brawl with. With everybody. [00:59:40] Speaker B: Yeah. Tony comes out and double legs Tecla. Jamie comes out too, but stat takes her off the apron. The weird twins, Julian sky come out, attack Tony Wheeler and Marina come out and just start with Statlander. They don't even really like, do much. [00:59:54] Speaker C: It's like, no, I don't need you out of here. [00:59:57] Speaker B: And they're like, okay, yeah, we're here. Tony fights him off and Jamie gets behind her and fakes out a punch which sets Tony just off. He is really pissed that she did not get punched in the face. [01:00:10] Speaker C: And both want each other to hit the other and neither ends up doing that. [01:00:16] Speaker B: Yeah, that was a fun match. This and probably this and Bobby versus Toa were probably my two matches of the night. [01:00:24] Speaker C: Honorable mention to Dorada and mortals as well. [01:00:27] Speaker B: Yeah, mortals. Yeah. No, that was. Yeah, that's a good point, actually. It's hard to pick, but this was. This is probably the one that, like, I stuck with me the most where I was like, oh, I'm gonna remember this. [01:00:37] Speaker D: Do you see why I messaged the group chat at one in the morning banger right before I passed out? Yeah. [01:00:47] Speaker C: I was like, ah, damn, I missed a good one. [01:00:53] Speaker B: Like we said. I mean, this is a long dynamite, but at least it's a good dynamite. Like, yeah, everything. Nothing really misses throughout. [01:01:02] Speaker C: Felt like three hours. It wasn't three hours. That felt like five hours, you know? [01:01:06] Speaker B: Yeah, that's exactly. That's a very good way of putting it. And we go backstage to. I guess her name is Alicia. A toot. I thought it was a tout, but I didn't know it was a toot. But she is backstage with Skyflight, which is Top Flight. Christopher Daniels and Scorpio sky, who have been local, angle formed into a faction. [01:01:24] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, that's my local guys. [01:01:28] Speaker B: It's my guys I do like. And I'm a big Christopher Daniels fan. He is one of my all time favorite pro wrestlers. I'm glad he's still getting that TV time. [01:01:38] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:01:39] Speaker B: All right, this is a little kind of nothing segment. Darius says they're gonna win tonight and Hangman comes out and Hangman says that Skyflight Needs to watch out for Don Callis family interference. Daniels gets the mic and says that they got the Don Callis family tonight and tells Hangman to handle Kyle at all because that's cute. You know, Hangman and Daniels are. They got their relationship and Hangman killed him and now they love each other. [01:02:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:02:02] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:03] Speaker D: No, it's cool. It's cool how sometimes you can just kill a guy and then when he likes you again, I you up. [01:02:09] Speaker B: I took your finisher and now you're kind of a mentor to me. Just anime. [01:02:13] Speaker D: Yeah. This is just a. Just animation. [01:02:15] Speaker B: Yeah. Complimentary. We move on to another tag team qualifier match for the ladder match on Saturday where we have Kip Sabian and Kale Switch versus Jet Speed. Kevin Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey. Brian Danielson says the Jet Speed is his son's favorite tag team. [01:02:33] Speaker C: I call him Kip Switch. [01:02:35] Speaker B: Kip Switch Kill Sabian Kill Sabian Kill. [01:02:41] Speaker D: Saving kind of rules though. [01:02:44] Speaker B: Yeah. It kind of sounds like maybe a horrible stand up comedy podcast or something too though. [01:02:49] Speaker D: Yeah. I don't give them any ideas. [01:02:56] Speaker B: Yeah. The story of this match is tension between Kip and Caleb. They have kind of just weirdly got stuck together from the. The remnants of. Of the patriarchy and the Nick Wayne led thing. And it almost. They just kind of Kill Switch just kind of landed there and I guess it never really meshed too well. [01:03:14] Speaker D: They're the lost boys. [01:03:17] Speaker B: Yeah, they're all. Yeah, they're all the people that Christian abandoned. Yeah. [01:03:21] Speaker C: That's what I felt like at the start of the match is like that didn't quite mesh well. Like I got what they were doing and I like. [01:03:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:03:28] Speaker C: Understood the, the angle they were taking of like Kip just being an to Kill Switch and it paid off and I ended up liking this match but like I thought it really started off a little rocky and like. [01:03:39] Speaker B: Yeah, I think that's this was really just to finalize Kill Switch's turn. [01:03:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:03:44] Speaker B: Like it been hinted at and this is like, okay, he's done with Christian. He's done with the. The patriarchy. He's a faith people. I don't know if they're. They probably won't go back to luchasaurus. I hope they do because I like that more than Kim Switch. [01:03:56] Speaker C: Oh, it's way better. [01:03:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:03:58] Speaker D: That needs to change. [01:03:59] Speaker C: That's how you like fully cement him as back to being face. [01:04:03] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, we get going. Like I said, it's mostly about the tensions between Kip and Kel Switch. Yeah. There's a point where Evan Knight gets in Mama Wayne's face and gets a big old smile on his face because. [01:04:13] Speaker D: He loves the pimples. [01:04:15] Speaker B: That is very evident throughout this. [01:04:19] Speaker C: Good for you, Kevin. Good for you. [01:04:20] Speaker B: You know, I guess they were flirting on Twitter and all that, and they played it up in the match and they. It. Or at least Kevin was flirting with her. But yeah, I'm just. Like I said, the actual match itself was solid. I don't have a lot written down for what happened in it. Lot of, you know, just like jets be t. You know, double teams. Kill Switch looked great. Like, he actually. He's recovered well. His sickness. He's moving good. He's hitting crazy high kicks. [01:04:49] Speaker C: Kip had a couple good spots as well. He did a pretty nasty, like, jump. I think he did like an over the top, like, almost like ploncha sort of thing to the outside to. [01:05:00] Speaker B: Yeah, he does that. That Arabian moonsault off the ropes to the outside is like one of his regular spots. And it is always. Yeah, Kip is a really good wrestler. Like, he always is kind of on the wayside, but he's always, in my opinion, been very solid. [01:05:13] Speaker C: But yeah, Jet. Jet Speed did Jet Speed things. And Kip Switch did Kip Switch things, which was. [01:05:20] Speaker B: Thanks. [01:05:21] Speaker C: Abusing Kill Switch until he finally said no. [01:05:26] Speaker B: And I will say, I did have one big spot written down here where Kill Switch is up on the top rope, seated Speedball gets on the top rope, goes to do a Rana onto Kill Switch, but Kill Switch catches him. So Kevin Knight does his run up, no hands, jumping Rana to Kill Switch, who is still holding Speedball, and flips him out of it. It was one of the craziest things I've ever. I've never seen that spot. [01:05:50] Speaker C: Those. Those two are really impressive. [01:05:52] Speaker B: Oh, they work so good together. Yeah. There's some spots where, like, Kip goes to pin Speedball, I think, and puts his feet up on the ropes and Kill Switch knocks the feet off. And we're like, no, we're not doing that. [01:06:04] Speaker C: Yeah. Which I believe was after Kill Switch hit a choke slam, went for the pin, but Kip, like, had him. [01:06:11] Speaker B: Yeah. Demanded the tag. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that was. And I think there's another point where Kill Switch is asking for the tag while Kip is having some offense. Kip just ignores him, which comes back by him in the ass. Yep. The Kip goes for a tag and Kill Switch short arms him, jumps off the mat and says, you. You're on your own. And after that, Jet Speed makes pretty quick work of Gift Hits him. I think speedball hits him with that, like, crazy spin kick to the side ahead, bends him, wins a match. And Kevin Knight goes over and restrains Mama Wayne for the win. [01:06:44] Speaker C: Yep. Blows her a kiss. [01:06:46] Speaker B: Yep. Wrestling. Wrestling. No, it was fun. It was good. And I think that was. It's the right people to be in the title match on Saturday. [01:06:55] Speaker C: Yeah. And. And like you said, it. It had two things to accomplish, which was put those guys in the title match and split up the remnants of the patriarchy. And it. It did that, and it did it. [01:07:07] Speaker B: Well, we hit up a Big Bill pre tape where he's calling out Eddie Kingston. He says he won't believe the match is happening until Eddie shows up at the match. And he doesn't think Eddie will. So Eddie is afraid of him and a fraud. Yeah. I will say, too, Big Bill has the craziest abs I've ever seen on a person. Like. Yeah, that man is insanely caught, like, for being a giant. [01:07:33] Speaker C: Yeah. Just a. What a beef steak of a dude. [01:07:36] Speaker B: Like, you know, he looks great. I mean, this is. [01:07:40] Speaker C: Yeah, this. [01:07:40] Speaker B: You know, we talk about, like, this being the best period of Ricochet's career. It's also the best period of Big Bill's career right now. Even probably, I'd say better than him and Enzo and Cat, you know, Enzo and cast for. [01:07:52] Speaker C: For him, at least. Yes. [01:07:54] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Big Bill says, see you Saturday, Eddie. Or will I? Like you said, Keith, who was there the entire time, just goes fraud. Yeah. I'm so glad they're away from Jericho. Yeah, they do work great as a tag team. And now that they're not, like, in. [01:08:12] Speaker D: The Learning Tree, and when you got Big Bill with. With Bounty Hunter being like that, they're goofy plays with each other. [01:08:21] Speaker B: They're fun, but they're still. But they still feel legit. They don't feel like a show. [01:08:25] Speaker D: Act like they're fine. [01:08:26] Speaker B: But it's. [01:08:29] Speaker D: It's. It's that you take the fact that Big Bill's not the strongest promo, but when he does that around the energy, the camera, it makes it funny and it, like, makes it good. [01:08:46] Speaker C: Yes. And, like, this promo. This promo worked like I'm. [01:08:51] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [01:08:52] Speaker C: See what. What happens? Do you think he's gonna show up? I hope he shows up, but I don't know. [01:08:58] Speaker B: I. Sure you will, but, yes, it's very. [01:09:01] Speaker D: I need him to, because I miss Eddie. But also, like, he ended the promo, like, by saying, like, people think that I don't belong in the same ring as you. [01:09:10] Speaker B: I was like, you don't say. Eddie's. Eddie's eating Halo top and watching south park getting ready. [01:09:17] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, that's my bum. [01:09:19] Speaker B: I actually did buy some Halo top after seeing that post Eddie Kingston made. And it's good. It's good ice cream for very little calories. Thank you, Eddie Kingston. We move on to a pre tape with Darby Allen and Bryan Danielson. Brian asked Darby why he climbed Everest. Darby says he did it proved to himself that he could. And because he gave his word that he says he wanted to quit and he saw a dead bodies, thought he was gonna die. Shows video of him crying in a tent. Does it. Moxley's word doesn't mean anything. That Moxley called Danielson family, but how would that count for? And Danielson's like, yeah, nothing. Darby once more brings up his dead uncle, says he wouldn't turn his back on family like Mox did. Danielson asked if he is ready for the coffin match Saturday and Darby says he doesn't know. But he asked for Danielson's word that. [01:10:06] Speaker C: He won't get involved, which Danielson give. [01:10:08] Speaker B: Danielson gives it to him on a condition, though. He says that he will give his word he won't get involved as long as Darby promises him one thing. And Danielson leans in and they have a little lost in translation mode. Little secret whisper we're not to know. [01:10:22] Speaker C: So what did you think he said? [01:10:25] Speaker B: I. I think Bill Murray said that he loved her. [01:10:32] Speaker D: I think he said kick his head off. [01:10:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. And Darby does agree to whatever this mystery promise is and shakes Danielson's hand. They come back, Excalibur asks Danielson what he asked of Darby and Darby refuses to tell him. So. Yeah, I don't know if this means Danielson will probably do something or not. He's involved in his capacity. [01:10:55] Speaker C: It's. It's gonna be hard for them not to at least like Jawjack Adam at the very least, because, like, he's gonna be there. No, he's. Well, yes, Moxley is in this match. [01:11:06] Speaker D: But no, I'm sorry, the cat. The cat is rubbing her face on my filter and I'm sorry. [01:11:14] Speaker B: We got. We got Max not talking about Mox. Yeah. [01:11:21] Speaker D: I did think she's. [01:11:22] Speaker B: I can't hear the headphones. I don't want to make a difference. The sound's not coming out of the microphone. [01:11:29] Speaker D: I'll let her know. [01:11:30] Speaker C: Okay, thank you, thank you, thank you. [01:11:32] Speaker B: Yeah, pass it along. That I said. Yeah. We cut. We go now to Riho vs Robin Renegade with Mercedes coming to the ringside for commentary and wearing a crazy awesome. [01:11:44] Speaker C: Oh, so cool there. [01:11:46] Speaker B: Every look she's had lately has been on point, but this has, like. [01:11:49] Speaker C: Yeah, very sharp. [01:11:52] Speaker B: Yeah. I like the table full of the belts in front of her when she comes out to do commentary. [01:11:56] Speaker C: Yeah. Right next to the announce table was. Was a great touch. [01:12:00] Speaker B: The Rio looks cool, too, wearing the leather jacket and the big, huge skirt. Yeah. The puffy, like, pink guy. I think it was kind of skirt. Yeah. This is Robin Renegade is like her and I think it's her twin sister. Are a tag team that have done a lot in Ring of Honor. They've always kind of. There's been, like, hints online of them becoming a faction. Like, Mercedes is tied to that. That. [01:12:21] Speaker C: Okay. [01:12:22] Speaker B: They. She's really big on them. And, like, there's always been this stuff where it's like, yeah, if she had a faction, they would be the people to do it. And they're really good. [01:12:30] Speaker C: No, I liked for the. The little. That this match was. I thought this was. [01:12:35] Speaker B: Yeah, it was good. It was definitely a. It was a semi squash. I mean, we. Yeah, this was, you know, Riho getting victory. [01:12:42] Speaker C: My notes went Riho vs Robin Renegade and then just arrow down underneath Riho's name win, like, as starting. Because I was like, I know how this is gonna go. However, it was good. [01:12:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Robin heels or. Yeah. Robin Renegade. He heals out on Riho, kind of keeps control. They give shouts to Mercedes throughout, which that ties back to their whole connection. Riho does her whole, like, crazy little roll up into the double stomp and then hits a big crucifix or crucifix bomb onto Robin for the win. Riho stares down Mercedes and Robin grabs Riho's boots to distract her. Mercedes comes in and attacks with the backstabber, which, yeah, is exactly what it needs. Just, you know, building for their match on Saturday, which will be fun. I love Riho's crazy, like, techno theme song. It makes me happy every time I hear it. Yeah. We go back to another recap video from Collision about the acclaimed and Jerry Lynn. [01:13:41] Speaker C: Not who I expected. [01:13:43] Speaker B: It was weird. They were basically giving up on Anthony Bowens as a solo wrestler, it seems. And for some reason, Jerry Lynn is the facilitator of this acclaimed reunion. I don't know where this came from. [01:13:53] Speaker C: That whole little segment that they recapped looked just so kind, just so awkward. [01:13:59] Speaker B: It was. It was awkward on Collision. [01:14:02] Speaker D: It was very. We were just at ECW and we. [01:14:06] Speaker B: Got Jerry, like, just do the double turn. Just make Bowens the bad guy. Make. Make Max the face. This is organically how it's going. People are really behind Max and they're turning on Bowens. Like you have the chance to actually have them both be single stars just in the opposite directions than you thought it was going to start as. [01:14:24] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:14:25] Speaker B: But instead they're just going backwards. And Jerry Lynn doesn't have a shirt on. Same if they do. Another video package for the Death Riders calling out the Ops. Garcia challenging Shibata for the pre show and the OPS accepting. So that's up for the pre show too, which should be a fun match. And we move on to our main event, which is Top Flight versus Hechicero and Josh Alexander for the last spot in the tag team ladder match championship on Saturday. We get a crazy Don Callis intro. They. He zoom in on Don Callis's mouth from like six different angles. They get like a drone cam just to zoom in on his mouth. He's doing that. Oh. At the end of it, one of them, I think it was Danielson, says Don looks like a Muppet. [01:15:19] Speaker C: Not wrong. [01:15:20] Speaker B: Honestly though, this match whipped. Like, all these guys that played is really good. I mean, they've had their issues with like, injuries and kind of pacing and like what to do with them, but God, they deliver in the ring every time. [01:15:34] Speaker D: For a while there, it was just that every time they were about to get pushed, one of them got hurt. [01:15:39] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. What I was gonna say is just. [01:15:44] Speaker B: It, it. [01:15:44] Speaker C: It was always like the pacing. Never felt like it was like their fault or it was. [01:15:49] Speaker B: No, no. [01:15:49] Speaker C: Wrestling wise, it was only circumstances. Yeah. They were never together. It was always one and the other because of injuries. [01:15:56] Speaker B: Right at. Yeah, Darius was hurt for a long time and then right after he came back, Dante broke his leg in that ROH ladder match in one of the most brutal I've ever seen in my life. Yeah. [01:16:07] Speaker D: God, that was nuts. I love how. But oh, my God, if anyone wants like, like prove to me like quickly, like, how wrestling works, like how physically wrestling works. It's like. Well, he took it to Canadian Destroyer, which should be a thing that attacks his head and neck, but he broke the ever loving out of his leg. So that should tell you how wrestling works. [01:16:35] Speaker B: It was like I was onto a ladder. If I remember right. [01:16:38] Speaker D: He was onto a table. [01:16:41] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:16:43] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:16:45] Speaker B: See it like bend back. It was horrible. [01:16:47] Speaker D: Yeah, he just. He just kept going. He should have stopped and he just kept going. Yo. No, no. [01:16:58] Speaker C: They survived this match, though. [01:17:00] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. [01:17:03] Speaker B: A great bit of Danielson and Don Callis chemistry going on during com commentary where Don Callis asked Danielson talking about Hechicero, have you ever wrestled a guy like that? And Danielson goes, I wrestled Hechicero's like, oh, I wasn't representing him then. [01:17:20] Speaker D: Yeah, but have you ever wrestled someone like that? [01:17:27] Speaker C: Amazing. [01:17:27] Speaker B: I. But, yeah, just cool. Like, Dante Martin, to me, is one of the best wrestlers around. Like, he's so far, he does just crazy. Does this nuts, like, rope to rope jumping springboard at one point, like, that just makes no sense. And they go to a double German, like, where Josh Alexander has them. And I think it's Darius, like, jumps back behind Josh. Alexander somehow jumps up onto his shoulders. Dante super kicks him into a poison Rana. I was like, this is just nonsense. Yeah. Darius goes for a crazy dive to the outside, and Josh just punches his head off while he's diving. Which the funniest part to me is that this was in the middle of Excalibur pitching the pay per view on Saturday. Excalibur doesn't even, like, miss a beat. He stops real quick to be like, oh, that race just got hit. And then just right back to like, yeah, don't forget, you can order on Amazon. [01:18:23] Speaker C: Yeah, he's a true professional. [01:18:25] Speaker B: Yeah. Dante fights back, but he's two on one. And Hechicero does his crazy, like, his guillotine flipping, leg, scissors, choke finish, like, is a great move. It's fantastic. And they secure the win. We got Josh Alexander, Hechicero, Jeff, Jet flight speed. Jet jet speed. There it is. The Young Bucks and Brodido for the ladder match on Saturday, which is a crazy lineup. [01:18:57] Speaker C: Yeah, that's gonna. That's gonna be amazing. [01:19:03] Speaker B: I have to work. [01:19:04] Speaker D: Oh, God. God damn it. You Triple H for your stupid counterproduction. [01:19:14] Speaker B: You can still watch Russell Palooza when you get home. The. [01:19:17] Speaker D: I am no, like, six o'. [01:19:21] Speaker B: Clock. [01:19:21] Speaker D: And then you. It's, oh, Russell Palooza. [01:19:24] Speaker C: More like Napa Palooza. [01:19:29] Speaker D: So mad. Anyways, take that road dog Triple Paul. [01:19:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:19:34] Speaker D: Yeah. Oh, you didn't know. Yeah, I'm a tell somebody right now. Anyway, sorry. [01:19:42] Speaker B: No, you're fine. Yeah. The rest of the down cows comes out and they fight people off and surround Christopher Daniels and Chris Scorpio. Sky and Jet Speed come out for the save. Young Bucks come out. Brodido come out. They do their big crazy assisted moonsault off the top rope thing where Brody, like, grabs Bandito's hands and gets him up there and fool, and it's just takes out everybody Lance Archer boots Christopher Daniels in the face. Don. Rocky and Lance get him in the ring, get him surrounded. And out comes our champion, Hangman Page for the save. Archer hits the guzzle on Hangman, but Hangman escapes and clotheslines him out. Kyle comes out from behind. They face off. Rocky grabs Hangman's legs and distracts him so that Kyle can attack. And Rocky grabs a table. I like that. While this is going on, Don Callis is on the ropes, bouncing like a small child. [01:20:34] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:20:35] Speaker B: Having the time of his life. Yeah. They get the table set up. Kyle goes for the Brain Butcher on Hangman, but Hangman fights out. Out and gets Cow back in the ring. Sets up the buckshot. Goes for the buckshot, but Kyle takes out Hangman with the bell cloud. Takes Kyle to the outside and hits Hangman with the brain buster on the table. And possibly a worse looking one than he did to Omega like this was. Yeah, he smashed him through that. [01:21:03] Speaker C: I'm glad he had a suit on this time and so he didn't cut the out of himself. [01:21:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I know. [01:21:08] Speaker C: Probably would have on this one too. [01:21:10] Speaker B: Yeah. Socks though. Still no socks. Ankles were not protected. Yeah. We end the show with Kyle getting in the ring, grabbing the AEW men's world title, this TNT title and holding them up in the center of the ring to a or a boost. Looking very pleased with himself, giving him a triumphant moment before he inevitably loses on Saturday. [01:21:33] Speaker C: Now this, this is what I will say. This was a great show. And before we wrap up, I want to speak into the ether that this is probably going to be a pay per view. We will not watch together. So this one, God damn it. We will get together. We will record our thoughts and feelings so we could talk about this and put this out on Patreon. [01:21:56] Speaker B: We'll figure out a recap day. Yes, we will find a way. [01:21:59] Speaker C: God damn it. We're gonna do it this time. I promise. [01:22:02] Speaker B: We're gonna make it happen. [01:22:03] Speaker C: Even if it's just me, I'm gonna do it. [01:22:06] Speaker B: We'll make it work. Yeah. No, it was. I, I thought this, despite being incredibly long, was a good fun dynamite. That did do a lot to set up for the pay per view on set. [01:22:14] Speaker C: Yes, it was a very long go home show, but it was a very good go home show. [01:22:19] Speaker D: Yeah, I was, I'm. It's left me more jazzed for this than I was. Forbidden Door. [01:22:26] Speaker B: Yeah. They say it has a better build. Yeah. [01:22:28] Speaker D: Yeah. And Forbidden Door was really good. But it has been the weakest of a string of all Timers. [01:22:39] Speaker B: Yeah it's more just yeah it's more just in comparison kind of thing. [01:22:44] Speaker D: Yeah it was a great show. Bad it's just it's. It's on the tail of eight straight masterpieces. [01:22:53] Speaker B: Very high hopes for Saturday I with the lineup we got this looks like another all time yeah and I feel. [01:22:59] Speaker C: Like most of this stuff can go either way. Like it's. It's not a pay per view roll it in like okay so they're gonna win. They're gonna win. They're gonna win. And maybe this will be an upset. [01:23:10] Speaker D: Which is yeah exciting. [01:23:12] Speaker C: It's exciting. [01:23:14] Speaker D: Yeah. That's kind of what forbidden door felt like. And then they end up swearing me that's how we got broke which also all those people who don't like bro wrong Rodido Pick up little guy. [01:23:28] Speaker C: Throw this podcast this one person in in particular who is this doesn't like the name. [01:23:35] Speaker D: I like the fastball special of it all. I like that. [01:23:38] Speaker B: Yes. That person is currently trapped in a video game like the adventure time episode with the big scary beat. [01:23:43] Speaker C: Yes. [01:23:43] Speaker B: Yes. [01:23:43] Speaker C: So I I have to get myself. [01:23:45] Speaker B: Play video games but I know and. [01:23:47] Speaker C: Gear up and I've got a rescue mission to yeah to to part on. [01:23:53] Speaker D: Also sleep sleep is also good. Thank you folks. [01:23:56] Speaker B: This was fun. Happy wrestling. We'll be back to talk more wrestling. Yeah for shoot so long. [01:24:36] Speaker D: Yeah if it fit many shoots.
