Episode Transcript
[00:00:07] Speaker A: In the beginning, the earth was a dark, formless void.
[00:00:11] Speaker B: But then God spoke and said, let there be wrestling.
[00:00:16] Speaker A: And with that, there was Monday, and wrestling happened on Mondays. And God looked upon her works and said, holy shit, that's a lot of racism in video packages.
On the second day, God got depressed, and lo did she post about it on the DVD VR forums. And with that, there was Tuesday.
On the third day, God said, let there be Wednesday. And lo did the people reply unto her.
We know what that means.
[00:00:56] Speaker C: And welcome back to Wednesday night Fake Bites, where we talk all things aew.
This week we are in the fallout from all out, which is a line Excalibur says at the start of the show. And I was like, oh, let's do it. I'm stealing that from you. And we are moving along in. Is it. Oh, they're gonna kill me for this. In Pittsburgh.
[00:01:14] Speaker A: Correct.
[00:01:15] Speaker C: Not Philly.
[00:01:16] Speaker A: That is correct. It is Pittsburgh.
[00:01:17] Speaker C: Okay, good. Yeah. I apologize.
[00:01:21] Speaker A: Yes. That is Yin's territory.
[00:01:24] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:01:24] Speaker A: To the west of y' all territory here in Pennsylvania. Hi, it's Piper Willow. I'm frustrated that Excalibur took my line about the all out fallout.
[00:01:34] Speaker C: It's a good line.
[00:01:36] Speaker A: I use that in our little patreon we did for our discussion that Ella, Erica, and myself had about All Out.
So I guess he must be a patron, because he took it from me.
[00:01:48] Speaker C: It sounds about. There's three of them, and one of them is Excalibur.
Also, I'm Jeff the Toki Mongoose, and we are also here with.
[00:01:56] Speaker B: To me, it's Ella. I am a here. I have just gotten done with work, so my energy is strange.
I'm going with subdued. I don't know. Needless to say, I'm feeling.
Feeling pretty juiced.
Feel pretty.
Pretty squeezed, if you would.
[00:02:18] Speaker C: Freshly.
[00:02:19] Speaker B: You might say fresh, even, like recently.
[00:02:21] Speaker A: Aren't you glad that you have a podcast to talk about it on Orange?
[00:02:25] Speaker C: I.
[00:02:31] Speaker B: Gosh, I am.
[00:02:34] Speaker A: We will get to that in soon enough time.
[00:02:36] Speaker B: I know. It's all I want to talk about, though.
[00:02:39] Speaker A: I know. That's why I'm so glad that you're here, too.
[00:02:44] Speaker B: It's. Whatever. It's funny. Whatever.
[00:02:45] Speaker C: It's cool.
[00:02:46] Speaker A: Yeah, it's.
But yes, live from Pittsburgh this week after all out.
[00:02:54] Speaker C: Yeah. Because 2300 is Philadelphia. This is Pittsburgh.
[00:02:57] Speaker A: Correct.
[00:02:58] Speaker C: Okay. Yeah. I'm learning.
[00:03:00] Speaker A: I don't know the name of this arena. It's not famous, at least to me.
[00:03:04] Speaker B: And they did a Toronto in between. I think that's kind of cute.
[00:03:07] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. Nice little triangle.
[00:03:10] Speaker A: Little. The old up, down.
Start off with a Hangman. Adam Page promo says that Fletcher took him him to his limit this Saturday. However, he's still the champ. But he's gonna be watching Fletcher and see what he does after this, how he handles himself and kind of where he goes after putting Hangman kind of to the task after this weekend. He has a match this evening. Hangman, that is with Liam Moriarty in an open challenge for the AEW World Championship.
[00:03:42] Speaker C: Let's say he puts Lee over really good too. Says he wants.
[00:03:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:45] Speaker C: Because Lee Moriarty is from Pittsburgh.
[00:03:47] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:03:48] Speaker C: He says he's facing off against the best wrestler from Pittsburgh. Really? Like, we'll get. It's a little later on, but Lee gets hyped up here a lot. Which as a big fan of his, I am super cool with.
[00:03:57] Speaker B: Huge fan. I. I like how everybody was talking about this is the. The battle for the Blue Sky Men's World Championship.
[00:04:06] Speaker C: That's very true because it's like the.
[00:04:09] Speaker B: The two most active AW wrestlers.
[00:04:13] Speaker C: It's them and RJ City are like, AEW representative.
[00:04:17] Speaker B: RJ was here first. Aubrey's actually. Yeah.
[00:04:19] Speaker C: No's very active. Yeah, RJ was like the first one. RJ came right over and was like, oh, awesome. Has been active consistently ever since I.
[00:04:29] Speaker B: Pulled RJ into Hell thread one night. I'm so sorry, rj. That was.
You said you were curious. That's what you get.
[00:04:39] Speaker A: So glad I missed that.
[00:04:41] Speaker B: Oh, jeez. Yeah. No. What? Stop thinking about. I'm shaking.
[00:04:46] Speaker A: Our opening match for this evening is the Gates of Agony versus Brodido in a tag team championship match. They were supposed to have a trio's match, but Shabata was not cleared to.
[00:05:01] Speaker C: Wrestle Garcia him up.
[00:05:03] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:05:03] Speaker C: I thought this was a nice way to make this match, though. Like, be like, okay, you guys earn this title shot. You just won on the Pay per View.
A tag title shot is fair. Especially GOA has been on a tear lately.
[00:05:15] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I. I thought there was a pretty solid chance we could see a real interesting title change here on Dynamite.
[00:05:23] Speaker C: I was almost half expecting the surprise. Like, yeah, I was like, I just. Because especially Bandito still has the ROH title. He's got stuff going on. And like, I love them as the champions, but I almost feel like that would have been the more interesting move.
[00:05:38] Speaker B: It definitely would have been a move like that. That would have been a way to go. Because then you're instantly putting this demand thing up on another level because, like, there are like, Ricochet and the boys Are. Are pretty solid right now.
[00:05:53] Speaker C: Yeah. And I'm not saying I don't think it hurt them losing by any means like this. It was the expected result, but I think it would have been a fun swerve.
[00:06:00] Speaker B: No, it would have been in. That's what I mean by like, interesting. That would have been an interesting time to choose to give them that. That heat.
[00:06:08] Speaker A: You know, they're. They're a team that could have that like I think deserves to have that kind of. That kind of a surprise win.
[00:06:16] Speaker B: I think they could work. Work with it.
[00:06:18] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. They could even still do it down the line as a pay per view or something.
[00:06:22] Speaker A: Sure.
[00:06:22] Speaker C: But we also talk about like with Tony Storm, how like when somebody is super hot and over ride it and Brodido is still insanely hot and over and like everybody loves them. So that's like I said, good either way. But that would. Now that you mentioned it would have been a fun result.
[00:06:36] Speaker B: Even more so after this match. This was.
I was not ready for this opener.
Holy.
[00:06:46] Speaker A: Everyone looked a million bucks in this. In this match.
[00:06:50] Speaker B: Unreal.
[00:06:52] Speaker A: The. The power that Goa brings. The dynamism between. Well, I guess from both of bro.
[00:07:02] Speaker B: It's.
[00:07:02] Speaker A: It was a really. A really fun and unique tag match.
[00:07:06] Speaker C: I'll say. Ricochet on commentary was great too.
It was a lot of fun on commentary. Like really selling the whole match and.
[00:07:14] Speaker B: Also making it clear that he's there to maybe just go cheat a little.
[00:07:17] Speaker C: You know, we knew it was gonna happen. But I like throughout. Every time Goa would do a big move or should be like I taught him that like just throw it out real quick. Yep, I'm that too. I'm that too.
[00:07:30] Speaker B: This whole thing. I hate to use the. The overused word of storytelling in wrestling, but like this match had a lot going on and a lot of like amazing sequences. Like there's this bit where that whole drawn out bit to. To build up to Bandido's hot tag after they came back from commercial.
[00:07:51] Speaker A: It like it.
[00:07:52] Speaker B: All that stuff that, that, that build up, that slow burn started with a sequence where like Bandito finally got Brody in and Brody got the hot tag and it was that open. That first sequencer. He just.
He just takes on Gates agony by himself for like a good minute. Yeah, that was it. Just him up. Like it was amazing.
And ended that sequence with that huge lariat, like huge running lariat on the guy. And it was just like that was.
God that. That was. When I hopped online, I was like, this guy is. Is next level to Me, like, I'm really starting to see the vision. Like, this guy could be a.
A greatest of all time. Like. Like, I think Brody King might be a hall of Famer. Oh, yeah. Like, holy.
[00:08:43] Speaker C: But again, Bandito was amazing. Like, yeah, he does that, like, press slam where I think he gets con up and throws him into Toa in the corner and just does.
I was gonna say that. And, like, he had this fun little, like, fast dodge thing in the corner and then came out dancing, and everybody just loves it.
[00:09:01] Speaker B: I'm like, oh, yeah, he pulled out the Macarena.
[00:09:03] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:09:04] Speaker B: I was like, holy, dude.
[00:09:06] Speaker A: Muhammad Ali moment in the corner.
[00:09:09] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Yeah. Just dodging everything. That shit's.
[00:09:13] Speaker C: That was very slick.
[00:09:14] Speaker B: Yeah, that's slick. Yeah. Slick is a good way to put that.
I would. I'm gonna be that. That nerd here, though. And go. Is little less Ali, a little more Mayweather Jr.
[00:09:26] Speaker C: The way he was. Yeah.
[00:09:28] Speaker B: Bobbing and weaving more than the footwork. He was in the corner. Muhammad did that too, but I was watching. I was like, he's rolling the punches. I was like, bandito is rolling the punches. Like, this is. This is almost too good. It was the moment, the engine with the Macarena.
[00:09:44] Speaker C: I was like, get the out of here.
[00:09:47] Speaker A: You can't do everything Bandito.
[00:09:49] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, you can't do.
[00:09:51] Speaker C: I follow him on Tik Tok, and his entire Tik Tok is him just making really good food and then taking his shirt and dancing.
I'm not even kidding. Like, every video, he's like, making eggs in the kitchen, and then he pops the shirt off and it's just like, yeah, yeah.
[00:10:07] Speaker B: Wait, so he's the perfect man. Okay.
[00:10:11] Speaker A: He's literally El Fuerte from Street Fighter. It's awesome.
[00:10:14] Speaker C: Yes.
I want say this had one of my favorite commentary moments, too, where during the commercials, Brian Danielson is talking about, oh, he went to community college and he's five credits away from an associate's degree.
Brian Danielson, just like me. Yeah.
[00:10:31] Speaker A: He's a real wrestler of the people.
[00:10:33] Speaker B: You have a bunch of cte, too.
Oh, no. Hopefully doesn't.
[00:10:39] Speaker A: I live in an a frame house, so it's quite possible.
[00:10:42] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:10:44] Speaker C: I'm really tall and have hit my head on a lot of like. Yeah, like, going downstairs and like that. Everybody. People with low overhangs and stairs should be arrested.
[00:10:55] Speaker A: Oh, Jeff, you would hate my house. It's.
[00:10:58] Speaker C: Oh, I'm sure. Yeah. I'm creeping around there like the babadook.
[00:11:04] Speaker A: I'm like 5, 10, and this house is too small for me.
[00:11:08] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. So I can't handle. I've been. I've had a few places where I'm just like. It's like being stuck in a small foreign car every day of my lifestyles.
[00:11:18] Speaker A: I could afford.
[00:11:19] Speaker C: No, for sure.
[00:11:20] Speaker B: Shove you in a Mini Cooper.
[00:11:22] Speaker C: No. Yeah. And we were talking about Ricochet cheating earlier, and it does happen. Like, I think it's Toa throws Brody into the timekeepers thing, and Ricochet comes in with the. Like, sneaks in with the chair while Aubrey's looking, but she catches him.
[00:11:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:36] Speaker C: Good ref moment.
[00:11:37] Speaker A: Yep. He tries to. To pull a fast one, but does.
[00:11:40] Speaker B: Hitting herself between them.
[00:11:43] Speaker A: Yes. Yes. She just, like, saunters in. Like, what the do you think you're doing out of here? She's. She's so great.
[00:11:51] Speaker C: Smart refs are smart.
[00:11:52] Speaker B: Oh, hey.
I don't know. We're talking about, like, lots of great spots in this. Are we ready to get to, like, probably one of my favorite spots of the match, which was the finish?
[00:12:02] Speaker A: Please.
[00:12:03] Speaker C: Maybe like, five more minutes.
[00:12:05] Speaker B: All right, let's go.
[00:12:05] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:12:07] Speaker B: I could talk about.
[00:12:08] Speaker C: I'll.
[00:12:09] Speaker B: I'll talk about pro dido for five more minutes. Don't you tempt me.
[00:12:12] Speaker C: I got more things to say about stairs.
[00:12:15] Speaker B: Yeah, people, sit down. I have things to say.
No, but I. I call back to. We talked about it on the pay per view, too, with the ending of the women's four way.
I really love that they seem to be paying better attention to setting up, you know, someone not able to break up the pinfall. You know what I mean? Like, they're making a point of it. And, like, in. Right here, in this finish, it was great because you could tell it was a strategic plan from them.
[00:12:49] Speaker C: I seriously said. You're talking Brody hitting the dive to take out.
[00:12:52] Speaker B: Yes. Yes. Sorry.
[00:12:53] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:12:54] Speaker B: Brody.
[00:12:55] Speaker C: No, I get you now. Yeah. Yeah, no, that's.
[00:12:57] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm sorry it's. It took so long for me to get it out, but the psychology of that, where they're like. Where they're in the fact that they set it up with the bang, you know, like, they're like, I wasn't there.
[00:13:07] Speaker C: For the pay per view record, so I wasn't sure.
[00:13:10] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah. But it gets across like, oh, my God, it was so, so hot that, like, they get across to each other. Like, they. They just know, like, you got him, I got him, we're good. And like, that kind of stuff that it's like a movie. It's the kind of thing that sells.
[00:13:26] Speaker C: Them As a team too. Like, it's. They're working together to achieve a goal.
[00:13:30] Speaker B: It really does. In that they, they, they. It. It came together and it was kind of natural. But in these, this run, all of a sudden it's like, wait a second.
[00:13:39] Speaker A: These guys are an actual type.
[00:13:41] Speaker B: They're like an actual tag team. Yeah. Like, it. It no longer feels matchup.
[00:13:46] Speaker C: I love when a good, like, thrown together tag team ends up just becoming a perfect one. Like, it happens a lot, you know, throughout wrestling quite a bit. And it's so nice to see the vibe.
[00:13:58] Speaker B: I want to say a lot of it's got to be with the fact that Brody trained Lucha. Like, now that I know that makes so much sense. A lot of the style he works.
[00:14:07] Speaker C: Yeah. And him and Bandido have been friends and worked together for like 10, 15 years. Like, going way. They both came from that Southern California. Yeah.
[00:14:15] Speaker B: Yeah. So that comes across and like, that's why it's like a sleeper hit, you know, no one would have thought of it, but. Holy this. I could watch that. I mean, that was what a. That was like a half hour opening. Like barn burner between that. Like, what? Just what?
[00:14:32] Speaker A: Yeah, they were. They were a good tag team that just keeps. They've progressed past great and. And just keep getting better every week. It's. It's really impressive. And I want to give Goa their props too, because they also.
[00:14:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:14:45] Speaker A: Looked like just these. They're just huge.
That like, played their role of being huge in this match perfectly.
[00:14:55] Speaker B: Like, no, it takes two to fake fight. Yeah.
[00:14:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:15:00] Speaker B: Four in this case. Yeah. I can't do math. I've just got done with work. Like I said. That's weird.
But yeah.
[00:15:09] Speaker A: Yes. Thank you.
[00:15:12] Speaker B: But yes. Amazing.
Every. All around.
Ricochet doing his thing. It's just. I. I don't know that it.
[00:15:21] Speaker C: Props to them coming out in the three Admirals jackets from One Piece. Yeah.
I love that Ricochet is a huge nerd.
[00:15:29] Speaker B: And like, I think that aew, that might be one of the things going forward too, is they're all nerds.
[00:15:36] Speaker A: Yeah. And huge nerds. Guess what?
That's a large amount of the population. So if you want to connect with people, just show that you are. Show your humanity a little bit and wow. It gets you over. Imagine that.
[00:15:50] Speaker B: Yeah. Right now, the cool. The fact that you got Ezio.
[00:15:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:15:55] Speaker B: From Assassin's Creed.
[00:15:57] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:15:58] Speaker B: You got the good. You got the good guy. Like the best one from Assassin's Creed. To read your thing was cool enough for me to go like, what you did Osprey. But that was cool.
[00:16:15] Speaker C: A lot of that goes back to Kenny, too. With all the Final Fantasy, like, all.
[00:16:19] Speaker A: The Final Fantasy, the Street Fighter, he's done too.
[00:16:22] Speaker B: Just all of it.
[00:16:24] Speaker C: Yeah. Most speed boss finishers is the Ultima weapon from Final Fantasy. Like, I love that. Just I love nerds. I love how many wrestlers are nerds.
[00:16:32] Speaker B: Oh, good stuff. Anyways, where are we going to next driver?
[00:16:35] Speaker A: The backstage segment with the Conglomeration and Alicia. Alicia is interviewing Mark Briscoe says that he likes how Don's bringing the heavy hitters. They want to fight. Don's bring in a fight. Alicia asks, you know, who is the final man? Mark tells her the word of the day is mystery.
Says no matter how hard she tries to appeal and no matter how hard she tries to squeeze the info out, she's not going to get it out of Mark.
He woke up and he said, mark, aren't you glad you have so many friends in the Conglomeration to pick from? And he said, this future is so bright.
He's gonna have to wear shades and then hologram.
[00:17:24] Speaker C: Him. And nobody else does the entire configuration except just Mark and Al Cran put on sunglass.
[00:17:31] Speaker B: That was my moment of the night already.
[00:17:33] Speaker C: Like, yeah, like, that was a genuinely funny little bit.
[00:17:37] Speaker A: And then they walk off and like, Roddy is like, there, like, shaking his head, walks off and Kyle O'Reilly is like, Jane, I.
Where is my mind? Alicia.
[00:17:49] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:17:51] Speaker A: And walks out. I was like.
[00:17:52] Speaker C: And he's whistling, where is my mind?
[00:17:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:17:56] Speaker C: I like that. Roddy's cool with being in the Conglomeration now. He's still like, a little like her umph about it, but he's not.
[00:18:02] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:18:03] Speaker C: I think now that Ishi's gone, he's fine. For some reason, he just hated the issue was there.
[00:18:09] Speaker B: I. I have to be the most stoic person in the.
[00:18:14] Speaker C: Nobody can be Tomohira Ishi at that. That is a lose, lose game.
[00:18:18] Speaker A: But he's like, also like the grump of the group.
[00:18:21] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:18:22] Speaker A: Right after that, we get a weird little like 3 second y2k esque, you know, save us y2j thing of corruption detected. Hologram clone soon.
[00:18:39] Speaker C: I don't know how to speak Spanish, so I think it's supposed it's Al clan or I'm butchering it, but yeah, that's gonna be. Yeah, I'm just gonna say that it's Gibby Aris, who is Aramis, who plays holograms. Longtime rival slash tag team partner. Like, they've Wrestled forever.
[00:18:58] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:18:59] Speaker C: Yep. I was actually supposed to see.
[00:19:00] Speaker B: You didn't see this?
[00:19:03] Speaker C: Yeah, it's King of Strange style.
I was supposed to, like. I think the reason this was delayed when I went to that GCW show, Errors. Was supposed to be on it teaming with Gringo Loco, but was out because of an ankle injury. And I think that's kind of why it, like, got held back for a bit.
[00:19:18] Speaker A: Yeah. They're doing the Scorpion to holograms sub zero.
[00:19:22] Speaker C: Yeah, I. @ least, I mean, these are. I feel like I've heard this was pretty much confirmed it's going to be.
[00:19:27] Speaker B: Eras, but I am so psyched.
[00:19:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:19:33] Speaker C: Like, it's very good.
[00:19:35] Speaker B: I, like, can't contain my joy. I'm sorry. I'm, like, emotional at how awesome that is.
[00:19:43] Speaker A: Yes. So it's. It's. It's like so many layers of taking two existing luchadors that have history and beef and a relationship and then weaving them into this weird fiction of Tony Khan's created wrestler.
[00:19:58] Speaker C: We get into Tony Khan's. Yeah. His childhood lucha story he wrote as a little boy to come up with a hologram lucha there.
Should just let children book wrestling. That's the lesson. Awesome. We got.
[00:20:16] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:20:16] Speaker C: Tony Khan is basically a child. Yeah.
[00:20:19] Speaker B: Emotionally, I'm a child. Hire me.
[00:20:21] Speaker C: Give an 8 year old the book.
[00:20:25] Speaker B: Wait a second, Wait a second. My Monday night fake fights is activating and I'm remembering that Vince Russo is a thing. Maybe don't give a man child the book. That might be a bad idea.
[00:20:38] Speaker C: He's more like a creepy 80 year old in a younger man's body than he is a little child.
[00:20:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:20:44] Speaker B: Okay, fair enough. Yeah. No, he's like the old guy at the nursing home grabbing asses.
[00:20:48] Speaker C: Yeah. Works with the waitress way too hard.
[00:20:51] Speaker A: Like, you have to remember, he is still a Vince in pro wrestling.
[00:20:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:20:55] Speaker C: It's just a swerve, bro.
[00:20:58] Speaker B: I'm gonna tip you. It's a swerve.
[00:21:00] Speaker C: Mirror on my shoe to look up your skirt. It's a swerve.
[00:21:03] Speaker A: They're just words, bro.
[00:21:05] Speaker B: No, that. That's just. That's just a gimmick. No, it's just a gimmick. It's a gimmick, Bro.
[00:21:11] Speaker A: Bro.
[00:21:14] Speaker B: Oh, God. No, we got. I. I should never have brought him up anyways.
[00:21:18] Speaker C: Yeah. We should get back to wrestling. That does not.
[00:21:20] Speaker B: I need to go back and. And. And re. Watch that because I missed that. He, like, glitched out and I guess he, like, glitched out on Roh after fighting Jay Lethal.
[00:21:29] Speaker C: Yeah. They've been doing it on and off for, like, little bets here.
[00:21:32] Speaker A: Oh, it wasn't. It wasn't him. It was like a little like.
[00:21:35] Speaker B: No, yeah.
[00:21:35] Speaker C: It was the video feed thing.
[00:21:37] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay.
This is so weird.
I am so ready. Okay. That's the coolest thing. Let's go.
[00:21:48] Speaker A: We did another backstage interview. Renee.
[00:21:51] Speaker C: Different part of the backstage.
[00:21:53] Speaker A: Different part of the backstage. With the brand new women's champion, Chris Statlander. And Harley Cameron is also there who surprise, pops out from behind her.
[00:22:03] Speaker C: Feels nuts too. Loses her.
[00:22:08] Speaker A: Stat. Says she's beat up, but she is a fighting champ and she is going to bring it all against Mina tonight. She said she loves Mina, not like Tony loves Mina, but they're gonna. They're gonna give something for. For everybody to remember. Renee asks her what her association with the Death Riders is.
She says, and I quote, things can move really fast when you make decisions. Harley says just like Harley will move into her arms when she wins, which was cute.
[00:22:37] Speaker C: Yeah. Harley, like, kind of desperately hops in there to turn the conversation away from the Death Riders.
[00:22:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:43] Speaker C: Which I did like, too. That like, she kind of stares her down.
Stat stars Renee down. Like. Yeah. What's your relationship with the Death Riders?
[00:22:54] Speaker A: I think Renee's been pretty impartial given the.
[00:22:57] Speaker C: Oh, it's true.
[00:22:58] Speaker A: Everything.
[00:23:00] Speaker B: Renee is unbelievably impartial considering her husband is such a dick.
[00:23:06] Speaker C: Yeah. I think the most they did was like. I think it was the pre show to all in where it was like Renee driving around with Mox.
[00:23:13] Speaker A: Yeah. Like talking about everything, which is fine.
[00:23:16] Speaker C: That.
[00:23:17] Speaker A: That's. That's the place to do. It is a pay per view pre show.
[00:23:21] Speaker C: I mean, it's. It's wink, wink. Not. Almost everybody who watches AEW knows they're married.
[00:23:26] Speaker B: I am. I will admit, my. My mind is forever just obsessed with the idea of Jon Moxley and Renee Paquette at home.
[00:23:34] Speaker C: I love, like, when the picture she posts of him with, like, their little girl where he's just being an adorable man. Like, look at you. Big, scary, adorable man.
[00:23:43] Speaker B: That man's the lunatic fringe. You can't give it to a child.
[00:23:47] Speaker A: What are you doing?
[00:23:48] Speaker B: What are you doing?
[00:23:50] Speaker C: Dean Ambrose doesn't have any kids. He's out there.
[00:23:54] Speaker A: John Moxley has kids.
But yes, after that, we get the open challenge for the world heavyweight championship of Hangman. Adam Page versus Lee Moriarty, who gets a cool little video promo right before he comes out, kind of hyping him up.
[00:24:13] Speaker C: Yeah. I thought that was a nice touch. Yeah.
[00:24:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:24:16] Speaker C: Because he is, he is more ROH guy. He does pop up on, you know, actual dynamite, like, but, oh, him and all of STB is much more roh. So it was nice to get that little showcase for people who privately, you know, don't get the paywall restricted third show.
[00:24:32] Speaker A: Yeah, because, like, that's a name I know, but not a name I'm familiar with. Like, if you asked me who's the pure champion, I would have said, I don't know, what's the pure championship?
That's mostly a joke, but it was cool to, to get the little promo for him, especially being the hometown hero.
[00:24:49] Speaker C: He gets some pops too. People are cheering their asses off for them.
[00:24:53] Speaker A: Yeah, some signs for him in the crowd, they were, they were hyped on him and, and I think it was, you could tell in. In him as well that he was kind of feeding off of that.
[00:25:03] Speaker C: I can't remember where it was, but I saw a sign in the crowd that said, I survived the Rapture.
[00:25:10] Speaker B: That was amazing. Yeah, I saw that too.
[00:25:14] Speaker C: Good played, well played.
[00:25:17] Speaker A: But yeah, I thought this was a really fun match that they both kind of got to showcase their styles because it started off super technical.
[00:25:24] Speaker C: What kind of clash of styles thing with Hangman being more of that brawler power type and Lee just being like technical expertise and that's like, they sold the story of that throughout.
[00:25:34] Speaker A: Yeah, they did. Yeah, it started like super technical and like a lot of back and forth holds and chain wrestling and eventually like one little moment, Hangman's able to kind of switch momentum into his favor and then it's just strikes and grapples and throws and suplexes and like there was like a huge kind of tone shift in the middle of the match.
[00:25:55] Speaker C: Yeah, I really like, like, and it does the. That first bit was great at showing, like, okay, Hangman really can do this. Like, you don't see him do this style very often, but he's just on par with it as anybody else. Yeah, they really, like, they do this good job of like, really Lee breaking Hangman down. They're selling the neck from Saturday and like, that becomes such a recurring in ring storytelling thing that they do that it works so well.
[00:26:21] Speaker A: What's the name of his submission finisher?
[00:26:24] Speaker C: It's the Border City Stretch, which was taught to him. Alex Shelley.
[00:26:29] Speaker A: Oh, okay.
[00:26:30] Speaker C: That's. Yeah, that's his signature because Detroit's right on the border. But yeah, was trained by Alex Shelley and got the Border City Stretch from.
[00:26:38] Speaker A: That makes sense. They talked about the Border City Stretch and that being something that hangman should watch out for.
[00:26:44] Speaker C: Yeah. Too. Yeah.
[00:26:45] Speaker A: Once again, they're like, Brian, you've been in, you know, maybe not the border city stretch from Lee Moriarty, but you've been in stretches like that. And he's like, I was in the border city stretch when I wrestled Lee Moriarty. What are you talking about? And they're like, first Hatchesara, now Lee Moriarty. Who haven't you wrestled?
[00:26:59] Speaker C: From now on, they really need to start before they say, like, ask. Be like, hey, Danielson, did you wrestle this guy before I make this reference?
[00:27:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Hey, we're a former world champion of, you know, damn near every famous promotion.
[00:27:13] Speaker C: I think people forget how long, like. And I do too.
[00:27:16] Speaker B: Like, how long.
[00:27:16] Speaker C: Danielson actually was active in AEW for, like, it was a good few years. He had a chance to wrestle like most of the people there, but it still almost feels truncated because it's just, you know, you want more of them.
[00:27:28] Speaker A: But plus, like a 20 year career before that as well.
[00:27:32] Speaker C: Yeah. Being everywhere else, but, yeah. AW is really like the smallest chunk of where he worked besides, like, maybe FCW in Florida or whatever.
[00:27:41] Speaker A: But unfortunately, the technical prowess of Lee Moriarty was not enough to take down the champion. A giant lariat turns Moriarty inside out. Buckshot. And Hangman takes it.
[00:27:54] Speaker C: Oh, he hit him with the dead eye for the win, didn't he?
[00:27:57] Speaker A: Thank you. It's the move I was thinking of, but said no.
[00:28:00] Speaker C: Yep. Because, yeah, they. That was kind of one of the things I thought was really cool. Like, hey, man, kept trying to hit that dead eye on him. And Lee weaseled out of it like three or four times and, like, cool little technical moves. And then finally nailed him with it at the end.
[00:28:12] Speaker A: It would help if I read my notes.
[00:28:14] Speaker C: Well, it's easy to mix them. I mean, he doesn't hit the dead eye is very rarely his finisher. That's been a signature.
[00:28:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:28:20] Speaker C: Which was.
[00:28:21] Speaker A: Which was neat to see.
[00:28:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:28:23] Speaker C: When he was in, like, New Japan, that was his finisher. But since then, it's just kind of been like the setup for the box shop. It's cool. Like when Sami Zayn beats somebody with the blue Thunderbomb.
[00:28:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:28:33] Speaker C: It's like, yeah, that's a legit move, too.
I'll have to just end on one move.
[00:28:38] Speaker A: Yeah, we get it backstage. Not really interview, but little segment.
[00:28:43] Speaker C: Refusal of an interview.
[00:28:45] Speaker A: Yeah. With Cage and Cope.
Renee wants to talk to him and see how Beth is doing.
Edge says he's like, excuse me. Cope says, I really can't.
I really can't do that right now. Sorry.
[00:29:00] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. I love you, Renee, but I can't do that.
[00:29:04] Speaker A: Yeah. Goes talks to Christian. He's like, what's. What's the latest Edge is like, God damn.
[00:29:10] Speaker B: It's like, that was a great name jar.
[00:29:16] Speaker C: We're just calling Imagine now.
[00:29:20] Speaker A: Sorry.
[00:29:20] Speaker C: You gotta say the. The rated R superstar Adam Copeland.
[00:29:24] Speaker B: Adam Copeland.
[00:29:24] Speaker C: Yeah. No, that's the thing. It's not a dollar.
[00:29:27] Speaker B: Every time you say the wrong one, you have to say the full. Full thing is repentance.
[00:29:32] Speaker C: There you go.
[00:29:33] Speaker A: Sorry. Rated. Our superstar, Adam Copeland. I apologize for copyright dead naming you.
[00:29:40] Speaker C: He's talking to Jay Resso. So.
[00:29:45] Speaker A: He'S talking to his friend who is like, hey, can you tell me what the update is? And Cope in is like, no, I can't. But I can't keep doing this. This is affecting my family, and it's not the first time. I am gonna go, and I don't know if I'll be back.
[00:30:05] Speaker C: This is code for Percy Jackson. Season three is shooting.
[00:30:09] Speaker A: Oh, really?
[00:30:10] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:30:10] Speaker B: It's funny.
[00:30:11] Speaker C: I think that's. Yeah, it's coming up.
[00:30:14] Speaker A: Okay, that makes sense. But it was. It was sweet. Christian is like, look, go.
[00:30:19] Speaker C: It was actually good.
[00:30:20] Speaker A: Go take care of your family. Yeah, I don't have one of those anymore. Oh, and then Cope is like, yeah, you do. Yeah, you do.
Shake hands and go their separate ways. I thought that was. I thought that was nice.
[00:30:35] Speaker C: I mean, like, you also do have a daughter.
Yeah.
[00:30:38] Speaker B: Oh, my God.
[00:30:39] Speaker C: She's been on the show.
[00:30:42] Speaker B: That wasn't his actual daughter, was it?
[00:30:45] Speaker C: Yeah. When you, like, took the belt from her and kicked her out. That was this, like, actual kid.
[00:30:49] Speaker B: Are you serious? I thought that was a actor.
[00:30:53] Speaker C: Oh, my God.
[00:30:54] Speaker A: I didn't know that.
[00:30:56] Speaker B: He's the worst dad. I love him.
[00:30:59] Speaker C: Yeah. No, I thought that was. It was a very touching little thing. And as much Adam Copeland is a return merchant, so, you know.
[00:31:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:31:06] Speaker C: In like three months, we'll hear metalinga start playing, and it'll be great again. Maybe less than. I don't know how long TV shows take that film.
[00:31:13] Speaker A: Yeah. I have no idea. Right after that, we get FTR to come out to explain themselves and their actions from all out and everything that they did. Tony. Tony Schiavone says that that was the worst thing he had ever seen in an AEW ring, which I don't know about that. I have to ask. What do y' all think is the worst thing to happen in AEW ring? Because I Don't know if I agree with Tony Schiavone on this 1.
[00:31:36] Speaker C: Big swole vs. Britt Baker in terms of.
I mean, I'm sorry.
[00:31:43] Speaker B: I'm. I'm maintaining, but that was.
[00:31:47] Speaker C: Yeah.
Anyway, I'm trying to think of the actual. No, but I'm trying to think of, like, heinous, like, stuff that's outside of the rest because, like, obviously, you know, swerve. Getting, like, the needle in his cheek and hanging him with the chair is messed up. That genuinely.
[00:32:05] Speaker B: That chair.
Yeah.
[00:32:08] Speaker A: That wasn't in the ring, so it doesn't count.
[00:32:10] Speaker B: I think that chair shot was pretty brutal.
That, like, that was. You gotta. I mean, I feel like it has been so long since anyone watching television wrestling has seen that kind of chair shot that hard. And I think it was, in fact, a gimmicked chair to break a little easier because it looked like it. He, like, broke it on him and like, that. The impact was really something they had to have.
Mike did or something.
[00:32:43] Speaker C: Like, I do want to say, though, Tony, this is logic, since Tony Schiavone saw Tony Khan take a pile driver in the ring.
Best. Phoenix. Being a trained wrestler is so worse than that.
Copeland. Sorry.
[00:33:01] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:02] Speaker B: The rated R superstar, Adam Copeland. Cope's wife, Beth Copeland.
[00:33:08] Speaker A: Thank you.
[00:33:10] Speaker B: Say her entire day.
Save her.
[00:33:20] Speaker C: Can't say that with an Australian accent.
[00:33:22] Speaker A: Say my full name. Oi.
[00:33:25] Speaker B: G'. Day.
[00:33:25] Speaker C: Good day.
[00:33:29] Speaker A: Oh, my FTR gun. Said that the actions of his. Of his actions over the weekend kept him tossing and turning and up all night.
Says that they were supposed to beat CNC and send them off into the sunset, but Cope couldn't deal with that and says that what happened was his fault.
Okay.
Big Stoke says that he forgives Beth Phoenix. Damn it. I did it, too. Says forgives Beth Copeland.
[00:34:00] Speaker B: Hold on, hold on.
We've established rules to the jar. This is not Patreon.
I'm holding Kayfabe dead. Name Jar.
Say her full name.
[00:34:15] Speaker A: The wife of the rated R superstar, Adam Copeland. Beth Copeland.
[00:34:22] Speaker B: That's close enough.
[00:34:26] Speaker C: I'm just gonna say Beth from here on out.
There's no other Beth on the show that doesn't.
[00:34:32] Speaker B: I'm not gonna actually stick to it. It was funny to me that one time. All right.
[00:34:36] Speaker A: Anyway, Stoke forgives Beth.
Says that he was not going walking up to her to attack her, but rather to introduce himself.
[00:34:48] Speaker B: I forgot about that. So it popped me again, secondhand from you.
[00:34:54] Speaker C: Holy.
[00:34:56] Speaker A: So good. Says that chivalry's not dead as he allowed Beth to carry him out.
Just.
[00:35:06] Speaker B: He said I allowed you to spear me is what he said.
[00:35:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
Again, great stuff from Big Stoke.
It's.
[00:35:20] Speaker C: This funniest dude.
[00:35:21] Speaker B: I.
[00:35:22] Speaker C: He also go. Almost calls Beth that at one point.
[00:35:25] Speaker B: He goes, I need you to pay him more, Tony. Whatever you're paying him, it needs to be more.
Nana's not on TV right now. You should still be paying Nana more as well. Just because it's the Nana attack.
[00:35:44] Speaker A: FTR Bald says that he got bonked in the nose.
His eyes watered.
[00:35:50] Speaker B: You watered my eyes?
[00:35:53] Speaker A: He watered my eyes.
[00:35:55] Speaker C: Yeah. He says, watered my eyes like a million.
[00:35:57] Speaker A: And I thought.
I thought Beth was Cope, and that's why I did it.
[00:36:04] Speaker C: That's the funniest.
[00:36:05] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:36:08] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:36:09] Speaker B: Yes. My eyes are the body of Beth Copeland. Felt like the body of Adam Copeland.
[00:36:17] Speaker A: Surely.
[00:36:18] Speaker B: Surely.
[00:36:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:36:20] Speaker B: Not even I am that bisexual FTR ball. Okay. Like, there's differences.
Like, it's not just all mass. I don't just feel mass, you know, Like. Like, that's terrible.
[00:36:34] Speaker A: It's heels doing heel stuff.
[00:36:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:36:37] Speaker A: It's great. But Willow Nightingale comes out and interrupts them. Who has had her history with them and Big Stoke in particular. She says how women like Beth inspired women like Willow and that women like Beth are the reason that women like her don't take from guys like that.
[00:36:58] Speaker C: Yep. That's a good line.
[00:36:59] Speaker A: So they can either look in the camera and apologize correctly or get the out the ring.
[00:37:07] Speaker C: It. Yeah. Well, it comes in, lays down the law.
[00:37:09] Speaker A: She does.
[00:37:11] Speaker C: Yeah. I always forget how good a promo she is. Like, she's such. She's very commanding on the mic, and she's got, like, that level of fun and stuff. Like, it's just the character. Everything comes across so well.
[00:37:21] Speaker A: Yeah. And she's amazing, as is always here. Stoke says it's past her bedtime, and there's probably a couple episodes of the Proud Family that you can watch to put herself.
[00:37:32] Speaker C: Proud Family name drops.
[00:37:34] Speaker B: That was.
[00:37:34] Speaker A: It was quite a line.
[00:37:37] Speaker B: And then she rightfully smacks the out of it.
[00:37:41] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:37:42] Speaker B: She paint brushes him somewhere, like, smiling, like, that's how you slap a man.
[00:37:56] Speaker A: Jet speed come out to even the odds. And the heels kind of powder off. They try and get one more shot at Big Stoke, but he manages to escape.
[00:38:05] Speaker C: Yeah, they. It was actually kind of, like, intimidating when FDR was closing in on Willow for that second, like, bit of an oh thing.
[00:38:11] Speaker A: Yeah. If they're gonna, like, if their new gimmick is going to be women beating Willow.
[00:38:18] Speaker C: Yeah. I mean, they got the look.
[00:38:23] Speaker B: I don't know. I think Willow I think Willow could probably take bald. I don't know if you could take gun and. What? She had a gun as well.
Someone should give Willow a gun.
[00:38:35] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:38:35] Speaker B: Willow should have give Willow a Gundam. Okay. That's where we're at.
[00:38:40] Speaker C: That. That.
[00:38:41] Speaker B: Thank you all for coming on this journey.
[00:38:43] Speaker C: Willow night in Gundam.
[00:38:44] Speaker B: Thank you, Jeff, for sticking the landing for me. Oh, to say listener, thanks for coming on that journey with me. That's what my brain looks like. I just said it all out loud for you.
[00:38:57] Speaker A: This is why we're. This is why we're a team. Good work, everybody.
[00:39:00] Speaker B: Good work, everyone. And break. All right.
[00:39:05] Speaker A: We break to go backstage to another postmatch MJF promo from all out in maybe my favorite promo of his ever.
[00:39:19] Speaker B: He needs to.
[00:39:19] Speaker C: He's been great for a while, but, like, he's been ev. Since he kind of, like, just that dumb with the Mark Briscoe feud at the start of it, where I got the little kosher pickle thing.
After that, everything has ramped up with him and gotten better and better and better. Like, every promo, every segment's been great. This is such a cool.
[00:39:38] Speaker B: Like, he started doing the.
The sitting them down right after a match.
Yeah, like, after a big match thing and that. It works for everybody. It really works for Max.
Like, holy.
[00:39:55] Speaker C: I think it's helped, too, that they haven't been super long. No, like, no. They've been just nice, intense, like, to the point.
[00:40:02] Speaker B: But he's all fantastic. He's all, like, worked up and, like, it brings something good. Good and awesome out of him. So, like, yeah, let's go.
It sounds like he's going on his honeymoon.
[00:40:18] Speaker C: No, he's actually. He's going to film. He's going filming, too.
[00:40:21] Speaker B: Really?
[00:40:23] Speaker C: Yeah. I think he's got a movie he's doing now.
[00:40:25] Speaker B: He just got done. He was. He was a delight in Happy Gilmore, too. It brings me no joy to deliver this news that. That we. I. I don't think I got to see say this on a podcast yet. So it's important to get it out because it is related, because MJF was a small part of it.
If you are okay with going like, hey, remember how great Happy Gilmore was? And that being a movie, if you're okay with that, like, I. I apparently was. Happy Gilmore 2 is amazing.
Like, you need, like, it.
MJF is genuinely very funny. He's playing like a dumber MJF. It's like. It's like if Max was, like, just really, really, really not smart and just was like, a Boston like. Like, knucklehead kind of meathead guy.
And he's just. But it's just mjf. But if. Also. If MJF was nice. That's the other thing. He's the. He's, like a nice guy. He's a genuine nice guy. He's just also, you know. Chirps like a. Like. Like a Boston Bruins fan. So it. Good stuff.
Anyways, that is. This has been Ella's. Ella's Wrestling Cinema Corner.
[00:41:45] Speaker A: Do not get that mjf. In this promo, however, we get a very, dare I say, humbled MJF.
[00:41:54] Speaker B: After.
[00:41:54] Speaker A: These last couple weeks and months. He talks about how he feels like he's lost everything from championships to friends, and that he's been playing a caricature of mjf.
And he's. He's has his. He's had his doubts. He says every one of these. Tax in him are the doubts that.
[00:42:15] Speaker C: He has just still covered in tax.
[00:42:17] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:18] Speaker C: Throughout this whole promo.
[00:42:21] Speaker B: I love that when he walks up the stairs, he, like, stops and, like, really holds it so you can see just how up and full attacks his back is.
[00:42:30] Speaker A: Yeah. It's. He is just covered in him. And he. He talks about how he used to have.
You know, everybody was in his dust because he was on top. And he's like, now I'm in their dust.
And he is gonna go away for a little bit, probably to show him something, but he pulls one of those tacks out, you know, he says. But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up.
Pops attacking his mouth, chews it up and spits it out.
And when.
[00:43:09] Speaker C: Genuinely, such a badass moment.
[00:43:12] Speaker B: It was hard for me.
[00:43:14] Speaker A: When I come back, I'm doing it my way.
Which.
The second he started talking about doubts and I was like, I know what those words are. And then ends it with the. The My way. Oh, just.
[00:43:28] Speaker C: Yeah. Limp Biscuit.
[00:43:29] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:43:31] Speaker B: Jeffrey, he's gonna.
[00:43:34] Speaker C: Red Nurse is gonna come back as his manager.
[00:43:36] Speaker B: Yeah, actually, that. I'm. I'm. I'm actually very much sold on that all of a sudden.
[00:43:42] Speaker C: That's.
[00:43:42] Speaker B: That sounds amazing. Let's go.
[00:43:47] Speaker A: Side note, there's a new Limp Bizkit song out.
[00:43:51] Speaker B: Oh, no.
[00:43:52] Speaker A: I hate that. I kind of love it.
[00:43:55] Speaker C: I mean, they've settled into what they are.
[00:43:57] Speaker A: Yeah. And this is.
[00:43:58] Speaker C: I give them credit for being what they do.
[00:44:00] Speaker A: This is exactly what you. It sounds exactly like you think it is. I will find it after this. And I guess I recommend y' all seek it out as well.
I forget the name of it at the moment. I believe it's something. It's something along the lines of making love to, like, Morgan Waller in a elevator, I believe is the name of it.
[00:44:19] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, no, I. I actually did hear. Yeah, It's a good song.
[00:44:22] Speaker B: Is a Morgan Waller.
[00:44:24] Speaker A: I don't know. But no.
[00:44:27] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:44:29] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:44:29] Speaker B: I hope it was consensual.
[00:44:31] Speaker A: Yeah, I Hope so, too, Mr. Durst. Anyways, it's not.
[00:44:34] Speaker C: That's not the host of X Play, is it?
[00:44:36] Speaker B: No, no, no, no.
[00:44:39] Speaker C: Isn't it Morgan Wallen?
[00:44:40] Speaker A: It might be.
[00:44:42] Speaker C: Morgan Wallen's a country singer. Oh.
[00:44:45] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:44:45] Speaker C: Played at the casino in my town all the time. So, yeah, they're. Fred Durst being edgy and crazy.
[00:44:51] Speaker B: He's picking a fight with a country guy.
[00:44:55] Speaker C: That's about right.
[00:44:55] Speaker B: I'm into it. Let's go.
[00:44:57] Speaker A: Yeah, he's probably 50.
[00:44:59] Speaker C: West Borland still have crazy eyes.
[00:45:01] Speaker B: Anyways, more importantly, does West Morwind still, like, on guitar? I'm sorry. I'm. I'm sorry.
[00:45:08] Speaker C: He was legitimately great.
[00:45:09] Speaker B: She was like, the best part of that band.
[00:45:13] Speaker C: I think that three times or so, he's just like, man, this sucks. I don't like this music. And quits and then realizes he's not making any money doing anything else and goes back to it.
[00:45:22] Speaker B: It's like, yeah, dude, you're really good at this one thing, and I know everything around you sucks, but, like, just do it.
Suck it up. You get to make money playing music. Oh, no.
[00:45:33] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:45:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:45:34] Speaker C: I think he's finally. He's, like, settled into that.
You're not gonna be Buckethead, bro.
[00:45:39] Speaker A: Ella, it is time.
Yeah, Ella, it is time for your, I hope and would assume, favorite segment of the evening.
[00:45:47] Speaker B: Hologram. Already put the glasses on, but I. I think. I think I know what you're talking about.
[00:45:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:45:52] Speaker B: I'm so excited.
[00:45:54] Speaker A: The Don Callis family versus the conglomeration with still a mystery partner. Conglomerate callous family is. Is out there.
Don says he is unveiling his masterpiece.
It is a painting so big and so bold and so beautiful that they need to wheel it out. They wheel it out to the. Out on the entrance ramp, pull the curtain down, and it's not Cassidy.
[00:46:20] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:46:24] Speaker C: And thank God it swears my mind.
[00:46:27] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:27] Speaker C: Jane is a good song. And I get the, like, reference to. That's the music that Paul Rudd's character comes out and Wet Hot American Summer. And that's who Orange Cassidy is based on. And that's a cool, like, little bit. But where is my mind Rules and fits the character and it has a palpable, like. And first few notes. It's great.
[00:46:45] Speaker B: It fits so well. It's a great. Yeah. I mean, and, like, it's.
[00:46:51] Speaker C: That was one of Tony Khan's best, like, needle drop. I spent a lot of money on this song. Yeah.
[00:46:58] Speaker B: And, like, I don't know. I can speak as someone who has played that song on stage a lot in many different capacities, and I can tell you that it hits whether the bar is empty or the theater is full.
Like. Like, that song just hits. And like, it's. It's really like, nope, no. Like, you said no shade to Jane. But, like, come on.
[00:47:27] Speaker C: And.
[00:47:28] Speaker A: Yeah. He is the mystery third man that nobody was expecting at all.
[00:47:33] Speaker C: Total surprise.
[00:47:34] Speaker B: I. Yeah. No, I mean, I didn't see it coming. It's not like I've had my name on blue sky turned back to preemptively juiced.
It was a preemptive.
[00:47:48] Speaker C: I feel like that the. The Titan Tron, he forgot to give them a graphic. So it's just like, media not found.
[00:47:56] Speaker A: It's perfect.
[00:47:58] Speaker B: I missed him.
[00:48:00] Speaker C: Is one of my, like, yeah, he could.
I. I always have trouble, like, quantifying wrestlers, but he's very easily in the top five conversation form.
[00:48:10] Speaker A: He's truly. He's somebody special. He just, like, he got me.
[00:48:15] Speaker B: He's one of the reasons I stuck around. Aw.
Like, hands down.
[00:48:21] Speaker A: We often talk about people who get it.
[00:48:24] Speaker C: He likes.
[00:48:25] Speaker A: He gets it, but on, like, such a different level and, like, genuinely, like.
[00:48:31] Speaker C: Carried the company for a while. Yeah.
[00:48:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:48:33] Speaker C: Like, he gets during something like the shittier booking like that. Like, periods where it's like, nothing great's going on. Every. They would, like, open every show with an Orange Cassidy banger. And it's like, okay, cool. At least we're getting 20 minutes of him doing something amazing.
[00:48:45] Speaker B: You know what? It was because I was there for that, because that was me falling in love with AEW in a lot of ways. That was, like, around. That was a little bit after I started watching. I started watching right before they did the. The.
That started the feud with Pack, where it was like, oh, wait, Orange Cassidy, like, can, like, fight. Oh, yeah. It was like, right. I started watching, like, you before that, and I was just like, oh. So I got a lot of Orange Cassidy just being silly. And then all of a sudden I was like, no, this man.
And it was just like, oh, okay. But, like, I loved him even when he was just rolling out of the way slowly. When someone goes to the top rope and then they go to the other side of the ring and he just rolls the other way. I was like, you can do that for a five minute match and I'm gonna lose my.
But then when he could actually go and that his title run home, that. That's his belt. Like that as far as I'm concerned, like, that's his belt.
[00:49:50] Speaker C: It's now been eaten by another belt.
[00:49:52] Speaker B: It's been eaten by another belt. And it's like, you should just give that other one just back to him. Like, you know what? No, this, this, this should be in your backpack. The fact that he carried it around in a bag in a Jan sport.
Oh my God.
[00:50:09] Speaker C: He's the coolest man.
[00:50:10] Speaker B: Just so cool. The getting the crowd hyped up because the guy's in the corner and he's gonna go. And he hops up in the. On the turnbuckle to give him the 10 punches and everyone.
And then he jumps off.
I was, I started crying. I was like, he's bad.
[00:50:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:50:32] Speaker C: This is a very stacked match versus Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe and Al.
[00:50:37] Speaker A: It really is. Like, this is not. You talked about him carrying the company and I was going to. To say this is not a match he needed to carry because everybody brought it in this match.
[00:50:48] Speaker C: He actually ends up being kind of a small part of the match because.
[00:50:51] Speaker B: He gave room like, like, like you said, this is just the return.
[00:50:55] Speaker C: Like, yeah, this is about the return.
[00:50:58] Speaker B: But he gave us everything we needed because we talked about kata and, and Takeshita.
They, they clear the ring out together like a well oiled machine and then bump into each other like they're gonna like, like fight and like Don Callis is himself a little bit. And then OC just comes in and winds up, then kicks on both of them.
[00:51:20] Speaker C: Oh, that was great.
I was also a big fan of Orange cast. Everyone's on the floor and Orange Cassidy gets to the top rope and does the laziest elbow possible, the most lackadaisical, like fall slightly.
[00:51:36] Speaker B: You know what it was? He was playing the hits.
My man. You got stuff dog in there.
[00:51:46] Speaker C: He had some good spots, but it honestly felt more like hologram was kind of like the center of it of this match.
[00:51:52] Speaker A: I am glad that Okada and Orange Cassidy got to share a hug.
[00:51:57] Speaker C: Yes. Yeah. Bringing it back.
[00:51:58] Speaker B: I forgot about that too. And everyone's like. And that's where.
[00:52:04] Speaker C: Like loose chaos affiliation through best friends chaos.
[00:52:08] Speaker B: But Excalibur said like, you know, to you people, who are you people, to the people who are new to AW might not understand what the this is.
This is orange Cassidy face, when he.
[00:52:28] Speaker C: Gets the hug, too, kind of gives that, like, deadpan look. It's just a. Amazing.
[00:52:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:52:34] Speaker B: Like, after that, Excalibur felt like he had to explain to people why the man just hugged like it was. He's like, oh, you're my friend. We were in the same stable.
[00:52:45] Speaker A: There's precedent. There's precedent, I promise.
[00:52:47] Speaker B: Yeah, there's precedent. I get to suck you.
He's been gone. He doesn't know. Like, he doesn't know what's going on. He's. He's been healing.
[00:52:58] Speaker A: Yeah. But they, I think, unsurprisingly, conglomeration takes the win.
But what is surprising is Kyle Fletcher comes out to challenge hologram, who is currently 34.0in hologram.
[00:53:16] Speaker B: The new Goldberg. Yes.
[00:53:20] Speaker A: Golden Graham, we can call him.
[00:53:25] Speaker B: Oh, no.
[00:53:27] Speaker C: Well, that's Hollow Berg.
[00:53:28] Speaker B: Hollow Burgat. Both of those could be T shirts.
[00:53:33] Speaker A: Oh, my God.
[00:53:35] Speaker C: The difference is holograms matches have been good.
[00:53:38] Speaker A: Yes.
Yeah.
[00:53:40] Speaker C: It's 34 actual matches.
[00:53:42] Speaker B: Yeah. No, Hologram never squashed anybody.
[00:53:46] Speaker C: He might have had like one or two, like, ones. Yeah.
[00:53:48] Speaker A: But at least he actually worked all those matches.
[00:53:50] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. True. Those.
That number is real. I've seen most of them.
[00:53:56] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. You don't get like 150 and, like.
[00:53:59] Speaker B: You know, showed up.
Goldberg had a busy week that week. Okay, shut up.
[00:54:04] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah. He was making the towns.
[00:54:07] Speaker B: Yeah, he's making all the towns. Some of them twice, you know, But.
[00:54:10] Speaker A: Fletcher challenges him to a belt versus streak match next week at the six year anniversary show for AEW Dynamite, which I'm pretty excited.
[00:54:22] Speaker C: That's smart.
[00:54:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:54:24] Speaker C: And I'm cool with Fletcher winning that. Like, I've enjoyed the hologram streak and everything, but, like, if we're building Fletcher up to, like, after just having lost a huge match, this is a good accolade to kind of like get him back established as a threat type.
[00:54:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:54:39] Speaker C: You know, character person.
[00:54:41] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:54:42] Speaker C: And hologram can afford. Hologram's not gonna, like, lose any credit having lost one. No.
[00:54:47] Speaker A: And there's clearly something coming for him.
[00:54:50] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:54:51] Speaker C: But I mean, he's got the clone stories coming.
[00:54:54] Speaker B: It's. I. It's. It's totally cool for not everyone on the podcast to. To be agree or be right.
And that's. That's fine.
[00:55:04] Speaker C: I would love a hologram TNT title.
[00:55:07] Speaker B: The new Goldberg.
Thousands of dead Luchas.
A Kyle is a yes.
So, no, I guess everything you're saying, I guess, makes sense in so. In reality.
But I'm Just gonna have to sit.
This is rest. No.
So I for one, look forward to talking to y' all next week about holograms. I'm sure. Epic TNT title run.
This is gonna be good stuff.
[00:55:46] Speaker C: Yeah.
They're doing a warm up with Kyle versus Commander on Saturday too.
[00:55:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:55:51] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah. Tenderizing.
[00:55:53] Speaker C: Yeah, There you go.
[00:55:54] Speaker A: They were. They, they, they, they did. They did do a good job of reminding you that.
Shut up.
They were like, well, Commander is going to be wrestling Kyle for the belt, so next week it could be Kyle or Commander versus hologram and his streak.
[00:56:16] Speaker B: No, no, no, no. You up. This is what you did there.
[00:56:21] Speaker C: That would be the funniest move, is that Commander wins Saturday and then Commander beats hologram.
[00:56:32] Speaker A: Commander's on the run of a lifetime.
[00:56:36] Speaker C: Come on, Tony. It's time this.
[00:56:38] Speaker B: Did you see this guy walk a rope?
Oh, amazing. Yeah. Never mind. Yeah, I'm sorry, Hologram. I've been. I'm a fickle.
[00:56:49] Speaker C: That's the move. Now, Tony.
[00:56:54] Speaker A: After that announcement, we get a quick Mina Shirakawa interview, which is pretty great.
Yeah. So she hasn't heard from Tony, but she is gonna fight for Tony and gonna fight hard and give it her all tonight and we'll get to it. But I like to think that she did.
[00:57:12] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We get another big fake kiss. Fake kisses to Renee.
Like, does the flipping the bird like at the camera, like series of motions there.
[00:57:25] Speaker B: I love her. She's so good.
[00:57:27] Speaker C: She's. Yeah, she's a gem.
[00:57:28] Speaker A: Yes.
We get a resurrection of luchasaurus and Jurassic Express promo thing, which looks mostly just like a more fleshed out version of the video that we saw at the pay per view.
[00:57:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:57:43] Speaker A: A little bit more.
[00:57:43] Speaker C: I did like Jack's like, his voice over that. He did over it. I thought it was really good. Good.
[00:57:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:57:49] Speaker C: It actually was delivered well. And like, I don't remember what he said, but I remember being like, I'm intrigued. And the shot with the. The scapegoat bus dragging the coffin with like sparks coming off it and.
[00:57:59] Speaker A: Yeah, that was cool.
[00:58:01] Speaker C: I'm. I made on board for gritty 2010 reboot of Jurassic Express.
[00:58:06] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:58:07] Speaker C: I want to see what happens here.
[00:58:08] Speaker A: I am happy to. To see them back. Like, my wife is a very big Jurassic Express fan and I express this on the Patreon, if you want to hear is right. But I will say this here as well. She, like, asks me every week or two, like, is Luchasaurus back yet? Because she know he turned evil. And I'm like, not yet, honey.
Well, he's back, but he's still evil.
[00:58:31] Speaker C: Kill switch. Never changes.
[00:58:33] Speaker A: Okay, now I finally, finally have to tell her. Yes, he's back. And Jurassic Express is going to be together next week.
[00:58:41] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:58:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:58:44] Speaker C: I like. They did. They did like a merch. Like a T shirt, too, where it used to be, you know, a boy and his dinosaur was the Jurassic Express line. And now it's a man and his monster. I like that they're almost doing this. Like Frankenstein kind of stick to it.
[00:58:58] Speaker B: I mean, do it. They're. They found a way to, like, how do we make this not Kitty.
[00:59:02] Speaker C: I'm a fan of knife pervert Jack Perry. I've. I've. I'm pro scapegoat. I have enjoyed Knife Pervert Jack Perry.
[00:59:12] Speaker B: That's good.
[00:59:12] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:59:13] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:59:13] Speaker C: Jay White's out, so we need a new knife pervert. Yeah. Barry is taking up the mantle.
[00:59:18] Speaker B: He got bit. He got bit by a Jay White and then one day.
Yeah. And he's just like, oh, I'm a knife pervert now? And it just. It works.
Radioactive J. White. Yeah, I have knife pervert powers. Whatever.
[00:59:33] Speaker C: The shitty goatee at a moment's noticeable.
[00:59:39] Speaker B: I'll hit that. Sister Abigail out of nowhere.
Oh, that's amazing. Yeah, I'm into it.
[00:59:49] Speaker A: After that, we get a. The match between Powerhouse Hobbs and Claudio Castagnoli, which, yeah, they come out and Hobbs wastes no time in meat beefing it up with Claudio.
They just.
[01:00:08] Speaker C: This was so good.
[01:00:09] Speaker A: I wrote in my notes. C Hoss match.
Because that's exactly what this was.
[01:00:14] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:00:15] Speaker A: Just a big old house fight between two big old boys.
[01:00:18] Speaker C: Yep. Dictionary definition.
[01:00:20] Speaker B: Yep.
[01:00:21] Speaker C: I feel like the theme of the story of this match was just Hobbs hitting body slams.
[01:00:25] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
[01:00:27] Speaker C: Body slamming them over and over.
[01:00:29] Speaker A: And Claudio working the lower back.
[01:00:31] Speaker B: And.
Yeah.
[01:00:33] Speaker A: Hobbs not selling it. And commentary calling him out. Like, how is he able to keep doing these body slams with that lower back that he's had damaged.
Don't care. Slam. Don't care.
[01:00:47] Speaker B: You Oakland.
You Oakland.
[01:00:52] Speaker C: Yeah, Cool story of, like, two guys who are used to being the ones that out power.
[01:00:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:00:58] Speaker C: And it's the, like, the two guys whose whole thing is they're incredibly strong. They're stronger than everybody else. Yeah. They're getting to see that kind of, like, clash is amazing to me.
[01:01:06] Speaker B: It's not that. That's not even a meat match. It's a horse match. Like, it's like, it's a strong.
It's not just a. Yeah. This is a power match.
[01:01:15] Speaker C: Claudia was a big dude, but he's not like, you know, he's not like a giant dad.
[01:01:21] Speaker B: He's, like, svelte strong, but he's, like, very strong. He's lean, he's tall. He's really tall.
[01:01:27] Speaker C: All perfectly built, man.
[01:01:30] Speaker B: He's terrible.
[01:01:32] Speaker C: Super villains making a super soldier. They use his body.
[01:01:35] Speaker A: Truly a specimen.
[01:01:37] Speaker B: I do love that. No matter who you talk to in wrestling, like, if you ask them who is, like, the strongest person that they've been in the ring with, depending on the age, some people will say Mark Henry, depending on when they were working, but most people are going to say Claudio Casanoli.
One person who I think was trying to get a job said John David Finley.
Yeah.
[01:01:58] Speaker C: DAV.
[01:02:00] Speaker B: Cena. I can't remember who it was, but I think he was trying to get back into work.
But that was.
That was. That says it all to me, is that, like, that man is superhuman. So it was just like watching the two strongest guys fight. I was. How did I put it? When they told us it was coming, like, earlier in the show, I was just like, I didn't know I needed that. Holy. I didn't know I needed that. Oh, my God. I need that right now.
[01:02:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:02:28] Speaker B: Hell, yeah.
[01:02:29] Speaker A: Yeah. It was a house fight. Not much to say about it. Aside from it was just two guys going at it in the power slams.
[01:02:36] Speaker C: The.
[01:02:36] Speaker B: The. The. Oh, my God.
[01:02:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:02:38] Speaker C: Hobbes hit, like, one of the most gorgeous snap power slams I've ever seen.
[01:02:42] Speaker B: That's what I was thinking of.
[01:02:44] Speaker C: This torque on it where I was like, oh, my God.
[01:02:47] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Randy Orton could never.
[01:02:51] Speaker A: Yeah, right. The OPS have two of the best snap power slammers in their mix.
[01:02:56] Speaker C: Yeah, it's true.
It was the originator. Yeah. Shabbat has never slapped slammed anybody in his life. He just doesn't have to.
[01:03:03] Speaker B: Yeah, why would he have to? He's gonna get the. Out of you.
And in the back, you get trained by one of the best in the world, Dustin.
Yeah. My God.
That's the first snap, uh, snap slam I ever saw was gold dust.
And he's pretty good at it.
[01:03:23] Speaker C: I did want to throw out, too, the parts where Claudio, like, on the outside, picks up and, like, back suplexes Hobbs onto the guardrail and then jumps over to the other side and does it again onto the garter and looks just effortless.
[01:03:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:03:39] Speaker C: Insanely effortless.
[01:03:40] Speaker A: Yeah.
He's doing that to a guy that looks like Hobbs, like, who just looks.
[01:03:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:03:45] Speaker A: So big and, like, built and heavy.
[01:03:49] Speaker C: And it genuinely looks like something from an anime fight.
[01:03:52] Speaker A: Like, yeah.
[01:03:52] Speaker C: Where it's like, okay, this. This is not something that physically should be happening.
[01:03:55] Speaker A: And yet Claudio does it. Like you said effortlessly. It was. It's awesome.
[01:03:59] Speaker B: Same with that snap slam. It's like, that's not right. That's not. That's like. That's not how physics do. We're talking about.
Yeah. Where's science go? Why? Why?
[01:04:10] Speaker C: How? Huh?
[01:04:12] Speaker B: I mean, that's just. Yeah. No, that. It was. This whole match was awesome.
Do that again. Bring it. Like, roll that back with some.
[01:04:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:04:21] Speaker B: Story behind it. You know what I mean?
[01:04:23] Speaker A: Like, which they can do given the finish of.
[01:04:25] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:04:26] Speaker A: Coming out distracting. Powerhouse Hobbes.
[01:04:30] Speaker C: Claudio, short hair, clothes pack. No good.
[01:04:34] Speaker B: He's too dry. He's too dry. It's not okay.
[01:04:38] Speaker C: That's why the distraction works, because everyone's like, who the is that? Oh, yeah, you can get the roll up.
[01:04:43] Speaker A: Oh, hey, it's a fan. Get him out of here.
[01:04:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, wait. Oh, Jesus. It's Pac.
[01:04:48] Speaker A: But, dude, are you.
[01:04:49] Speaker B: Are you okay? You're very dry. Oh, my God. I'm rolled up.
[01:04:53] Speaker A: Claudio steals the win.
Samoa Joe comes out to even the odds. But of course, it's the Death Riders, so you can never even the odds, especially with Shibata being out. But Hangman, who is good friends with the Ops and who they have had his bash before, comes out to help them out.
[01:05:14] Speaker C: I love when there's like, loose affiliations in pro wrestling.
[01:05:18] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:05:18] Speaker C: But he's not hanging is not part of it. But, like, they're all people and they have been on, like, the same side. So there is. You see that with jets beat a lot too, where, you know, they're like, not in a faction. They're like, yeah, but these are the good guys. Like, so we're gonna come help them.
[01:05:30] Speaker A: Those guys have been like king of the save over the last month or two.
[01:05:33] Speaker C: Yeah. That's kind of their role.
[01:05:35] Speaker B: I think that. That in like. Like, maybe this is a hot take for all the people who are like, God, Death Riders sucked. All that sucked. And I'm just sitting here going, it worked.
Because what happened? There's baby faces that have each other's backs and there's a growing darkness. I think we've all in the dinosaurs.
[01:05:58] Speaker C: Experiment has been vindicated.
[01:06:00] Speaker B: I really think it has. Like, they. They really, really.
[01:06:03] Speaker C: We'll get into it in the. Even in the main event.
[01:06:06] Speaker B: But it did the reset.
[01:06:07] Speaker C: You know what I mean? Everything work so well.
[01:06:09] Speaker B: It really reset everything. And now it. It makes sense that the baby faces who don't Normally have anything to do with each other. Just going to be the kings of the saves, you know, like.
No, it's. It's beautiful.
[01:06:20] Speaker C: We are all brought together by our hatred of Wheeler Yuta. Yes. It unites us. It's honestly like what could bridge our like nations divide.
[01:06:28] Speaker A: Honestly.
[01:06:29] Speaker B: You know what we hate little shits. That's come to a big tree in.
[01:06:34] Speaker C: The middle of the country and everybody can throw tomatoes and yell at them and we'll all be together.
[01:06:40] Speaker A: That's the unity that we need.
[01:06:45] Speaker B: Snort out of me.
[01:06:45] Speaker C: Jesus Christ.
Oh, this is my. This is my platform.
[01:06:51] Speaker A: We get a weird little move of the night segment.
[01:06:56] Speaker B: Oh.
[01:06:56] Speaker A: Where they show.
[01:06:58] Speaker C: I don't remember that.
[01:06:59] Speaker A: Yeah, it was some.
Sponsored by the Superman series.
Superman something move of the night. And it was just a replay of the lariat into the dead eye from the world champion.
[01:07:14] Speaker C: That was. Yeah, it was just a quick little.
[01:07:16] Speaker A: Yeah. Nothing important. But it was weird that they threw it in there and I don't know, I feel like.
[01:07:21] Speaker B: Is that something that AEW has done before? Because that feels.
[01:07:25] Speaker C: I think it's like the Twitter thing on screen. They're trying out new stuff.
[01:07:29] Speaker B: It feels very fatty. But also. But also again, the Monday night brain.
You're coming in. It just feels 90s because it feels.
[01:07:41] Speaker C: Like, I was thinking almost 80s where they do like the old like uswa where it's like. Oh, a body slam.
[01:07:47] Speaker B: Yeah. Well. And like the WCW had like the.
[01:07:50] Speaker A: Pep Boys brought to you by Snickers.
[01:07:53] Speaker C: No, that's very. Yeah. The slam of the night.
[01:07:55] Speaker B: Yeah. And both companies were doing that in the 90s. The 90s. So I think.
[01:07:58] Speaker C: Yeah, that's very true.
[01:07:59] Speaker B: That feels like it might just be an old school wrestling, the TV wrestling thing. And it's just like.
[01:08:04] Speaker A: That's exactly what it is. Is.
[01:08:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:08:06] Speaker A: We have a new show to promote on the network. We're gonna do that alongside this.
Hey, it's whatever it was there.
[01:08:13] Speaker B: It feels less gross than when Vince does it. So it. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
[01:08:17] Speaker A: It doesn't feel effective. So we'll take it.
[01:08:19] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm easy.
[01:08:21] Speaker A: It rolls right into Tony Khan's big announcement that I am very excited for.
It's women's tag team division.
[01:08:31] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. Finally they've been talking. This has been something that's been in the works.
Tony's. He said before he's had the belts made for like a while now. But injuries have prevented the actual like, you know, division before.
[01:08:46] Speaker B: Oh my.
[01:08:47] Speaker C: I'm glad it's finally coming to us.
[01:08:48] Speaker B: This division is so stacked.
[01:08:50] Speaker C: I'm also glad Excalibur called Tony Keebird at one point.
[01:08:53] Speaker B: Yeah, that was.
That's why I call him now. Yeah, like popped on screen. Taz smiling. I was like, oh, that's good stuff, T Bird.
[01:09:04] Speaker C: That's what I'm excited though.
My. My picks for first champions are probably. I'm thinking Megan Bain and Penelope.
I mean there's a lot of.
[01:09:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:09:13] Speaker C: KJ's there.
I would personally my ultimate fantasy booking as Ruby Soho comes back and teams with a debuting Dakota Kai like they used to in Shimmer and they win it. It's probably not going to happen, but I would love that.
[01:09:28] Speaker A: But yeah, there's a lot of choices. There's a lot of options for tag teams and this is going to be really exciting and I'm looking forward to.
[01:09:37] Speaker C: I assume he's gonna do a tournament and I love a tournament.
[01:09:39] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, they love a tournament.
[01:09:40] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. No, I think everyone loves the tournament on this. On this side of the aisle here with a dubs.
As far as for who Harley and whoever you would like.
I just need. I just need a belt on my kitty girl, like so bad.
She's just the best. Let's go.
Get your mind out of the gutter. I'm talking about feeling the wrath. Wait, no, this. Yeah, no, it's not good. I'm sorry. I'm gonna go.
[01:10:09] Speaker C: What do we think about the. What do we think about the way the belts look? Looked. I mean, it looked great.
I thought fine.
[01:10:16] Speaker B: Yeah, it was fine.
[01:10:17] Speaker A: I think the only nitpick I had is I really could not distinguish what the side plates were. If we really want to get granular about it.
[01:10:24] Speaker C: Yeah, it was a little hard to see.
[01:10:25] Speaker A: I don't know.
[01:10:26] Speaker C: But no, that's.
[01:10:26] Speaker A: Yeah, that was like supposed to be like different countries or something. I don't know. Yeah, that was hard to tell.
[01:10:32] Speaker C: But other than that, I'll have to go back and look.
[01:10:34] Speaker A: They're just nice looking belts.
[01:10:36] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:10:37] Speaker A: They're not giant butterflies to signify this is for women. So. Yeah, I'm happy.
[01:10:43] Speaker B: It doesn't look like a Bratz sticker. Yeah, yeah. Like I enjoy.
[01:10:47] Speaker C: This belt is a giant Pampax.
[01:10:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:10:49] Speaker B: Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, my brain. Oh, that's not good at all. Oh, my brain.
[01:10:55] Speaker A: Doesn't look like they were designed by Liza Frank.
[01:10:57] Speaker B: Oh, my brain. No, we need to move on from pronounce Eliza. I thought it was Lisa Frank.
[01:11:03] Speaker A: Oh, you would know. You're older than me.
[01:11:06] Speaker B: I was gonna say as someone who was there and desperately wanted it and was getting given weird looks for it. It's Lisa Frank, and I want them. Yeah, no, I'm sure it was evil, but I still want it.
[01:11:18] Speaker A: You can get them now.
[01:11:19] Speaker C: That was a Trapper Keeper man.
[01:11:20] Speaker B: I. I was forced by society and culture to be a Trapper Keeper boy. Yes, well, really, I desperately wanted to be Elisa Frank girl.
[01:11:31] Speaker C: Honestly, this is a great metaphor. Like, when you come.
Yeah.
[01:11:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:11:38] Speaker C: We stumbled on meaning.
[01:11:39] Speaker B: Ying's all about. Yeah, yeah. And wrestling. Yeah.
[01:11:47] Speaker A: This brings us to the main event of.
[01:11:50] Speaker B: Oh, thank God. I need to eat dinner. I'm being loopy.
[01:11:54] Speaker A: Me too.
Mina Shirakawa versus Chris Statlander.
Also, Wheeler Ute is here again, whispering.
[01:12:01] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:12:04] Speaker C: I genuinely, like, missed him. I heard the mention and, like, I heard Danielson say something about, like, wanting to punch him in the face, but was he just out, like, real quick or something?
[01:12:12] Speaker A: He just walked out, whispered in her ear again, and moseyed off like the scheming fizzer. Yeah, he is really.
[01:12:20] Speaker C: This is why we're gonna strap him to the tree.
[01:12:28] Speaker A: Sorry, this.
[01:12:29] Speaker B: God, that sounds so violent. But it's like, you know what? Now it's fine.
[01:12:34] Speaker A: It's wrestling.
[01:12:35] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:12:35] Speaker C: No, I. I personally made it. Not violent. No tomatoes and insults. We're not gonna hurt him.
[01:12:41] Speaker A: It's just, boo this man for the entire country.
[01:12:45] Speaker B: Yeah, we're not gonna hurt him. We're just gonna humiliate him. Maybe he likes totally different.
[01:12:50] Speaker A: Yeah, mentally, sure, probably, but that's fine.
[01:12:53] Speaker B: Yeah, it's Wheeler.
[01:12:55] Speaker A: You know, little.
[01:12:57] Speaker C: Honestly, if the entire country pelts you with tomatoes, you'll probably die from that. Yeah, that's a lot.
[01:13:02] Speaker B: You just become a giant bruise.
[01:13:04] Speaker A: Yeah, just like the tomatoes.
[01:13:08] Speaker B: Just like this. Oh.
Oh, poor Laurie. No. Yeah, no, I feel bad about the little.
[01:13:15] Speaker C: We have to catch up.
[01:13:21] Speaker B: Stupid show.
[01:13:22] Speaker A: We're gonna put you up on the tree, too.
[01:13:24] Speaker B: Yeah, get out of the tree, Jeff.
[01:13:27] Speaker C: You live by the tree, you die by the tree. I've learned this.
[01:13:30] Speaker B: I've grown to accept it at the truth. And you're a mongoose, so this is gonna really hurt.
[01:13:37] Speaker C: That's my natural environment. I'll scamper up that.
[01:13:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:13:40] Speaker B: Oh.
[01:13:45] Speaker A: This did finally have my Taz of the night.
There was some good commentary lines, but I think the best one from Taz was stat gets Mina up for some kind of slam. In a delayed variety, Taz goes, look at this. Delayed vertical suplex.
Or maybe a brain buster.
Or maybe a flapjack.
Or maybe one of you guys could say something.
They all crack up.
[01:14:17] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. That was my pick for Taz of the week too. That was fantastic.
[01:14:22] Speaker A: He was mostly on good behavior, but that one line really got me.
[01:14:26] Speaker C: Yeah, I was gonna say a little.
[01:14:27] Speaker B: More to do mostly on good behavior. Yeah.
God damn. I got two snorts out of this week.
Edit those. Jesus.
[01:14:39] Speaker C: No, that's going in the review.
The two snorter. Yeah, that's going in the liner notes. A two Snorter episode.
[01:14:47] Speaker A: Honestly.
[01:14:47] Speaker C: Yeah, we're going for three. We still got the. We still got a few minutes long.
[01:14:51] Speaker A: I did not have much aside from, from that. This was.
[01:14:55] Speaker C: Yeah, it was just a good match.
[01:14:57] Speaker A: I mean, I think Mina was the perfect person for Stat to wrestle in her first defense, given the relationship between Mina and Tony.
[01:15:08] Speaker C: So that and Mina can afford the loss. She's a champion in our exact stuff too. Like it's.
[01:15:15] Speaker B: Yeah, it was. No, it was a solid showing. She looked amazing. She really is a great champ.
The seat belt again.
And then the Death Riders.
[01:15:30] Speaker A: Yes, Death Riders show up yet again with Statlander. Wheeler in, congratulates her, hugs her, raises her hand.
[01:15:41] Speaker C: Harley. Harley gets out there too.
[01:15:42] Speaker A: Harley's out there. And it's kind of shocked to see that. It seems like Stat has while reluctantly sided with the Death Riders.
[01:15:51] Speaker B: She's definitely done. She, she, she Mox is like, like holding out to like, yeah, you want, want us to, you know, want, want to be in the gang. You know, like he said, like, I'm a lot. This is the time. This is it. It's happening. Is this cool? Isn't this cool?
[01:16:09] Speaker A: And Stat says Spike Dumpster.
[01:16:13] Speaker C: Huda killed him with a clothesline. Yeah.
[01:16:15] Speaker A: Double bird to mocks in the corner. Runs out into the, into the fans, up the steps, flipping the bird.
[01:16:24] Speaker C: It was just so fantastic escape.
[01:16:29] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:16:30] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. Just the energy of it was so fun.
[01:16:33] Speaker A: It was so cool. What a perfect way to end Dynamite.
[01:16:35] Speaker B: I, I, Yeah, I'm extremely happy with it.
[01:16:38] Speaker C: Yeah. Not else happened.
[01:16:39] Speaker A: And then Darby Allen comes out with a funny.
[01:16:44] Speaker C: What?
Yeah.
[01:16:46] Speaker B: They got to stop giving him flamethrowers.
[01:16:48] Speaker A: They gotta stop giving him the closing segment.
[01:16:53] Speaker C: Yeah, this felt really weird. Like the Stat rejecting the Death Riders thing and really, like getting over as a face felt like a great climactic.
Yeah, there's no to me. I don't see why this couldn't have been done in like, like the middle of the next episode or like next week.
Yeah, no. Yeah, next Wednesday. Like, why did this have to close the. Just because Darby has not been on.
[01:17:15] Speaker A: The episode, everyone should be asking, where's Darby.
This is like the fourth consecutive week that that joke is worked because he just kind of pops up where he doesn't belong.
[01:17:26] Speaker B: I simply do not care for him.
[01:17:29] Speaker C: And I also like the casket match. Like, you know, Darby challenges mocks to the I quit match. And like, the, the casket match felt like a conclusion, like.
[01:17:40] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. So why is this still happening?
[01:17:43] Speaker C: I guess they want. I guess they want to end it on Darby winning because he lost the.
[01:17:46] Speaker A: Casket match, I guess.
[01:17:49] Speaker C: But, like, I'm kind of done with their story. I feel like I've been watching Darby and the Death Rider since Darby came back.
[01:17:56] Speaker A: Yeah, it. It's. It's felt long running. I thought we were done with this. But no, he comes out, scares him off with a flamethrower. Like you said. Challeng and I quit. Match at Russell Dream. So it'll probably be a week or two before Mox reluctantly accepts and that's the end of the show.
[01:18:14] Speaker C: I'm sure we'll get some kind of crazy fire spot at Wrestle Dream. Yeah, like, it'll probably be. It'll probably be a fun match, I'm sure.
[01:18:22] Speaker A: Again, we.
One more plug for the Patreon. We discussed that and our thoughts about Darby Allen and his performance abilities.
[01:18:30] Speaker B: We talked about a lot.
Yeah, like, we were.
[01:18:34] Speaker A: We.
That is longer than I think any podcast we've ever put out. Now, granted, I ain't edit that. Like I said, just raw.
[01:18:42] Speaker B: Yeah, no, that. Yeah, we. We did. There was no editing. So if you're. If you want to cancel me, it's gonna cost you at least $5 to find out if I. I said anything cancelable. I don't think.
But, you know, I don't really care because I'll have your $5. So.
[01:18:58] Speaker A: Yep. That goes into the Ella Taylor legal defense fund.
[01:19:02] Speaker B: Yes. Which I'm probably going to need sooner than later.
[01:19:06] Speaker C: Let's be real.
We all know how much we get these Gimmick names wrong.
[01:19:11] Speaker B: Patreon.comffpod mnffpod.
[01:19:18] Speaker A: I always forget. Despite attempting to plug it every week.
Okay, that'll probably.
[01:19:24] Speaker B: It's like Monday Night Football and then you do another one at the end.
[01:19:28] Speaker A: Like a double Monday Night Football. Football.
[01:19:30] Speaker B: Monday Night Football Football pod.
[01:19:34] Speaker A: Or, you know, Monday night fake fights. The thing is.
[01:19:36] Speaker B: Yeah, that thing, that show. That might come back someday.
It will, it will.
[01:19:41] Speaker C: Monday night fake football.
[01:19:42] Speaker A: Oh, there we go.
[01:19:44] Speaker B: There you go. I'm into it anyways.
[01:19:46] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:19:47] Speaker B: That was a blast. Thank you all for listening.
[01:19:49] Speaker C: Yes.
Yeah.
[01:19:51] Speaker A: Six year anniversary next week of Dynamite.
[01:19:55] Speaker C: Looking stacked too.
[01:19:56] Speaker A: Don't think they said. It's a three hour show, which I'm really happy about. Yay.
[01:20:00] Speaker C: No, but they did say Wrestle Dream. They're gonna do the TV pre show again, which means that Dynamite before that will probably be three hours ago. But we gotta.
[01:20:10] Speaker A: It's time to recuperate.
Much like you, dear listener, have a week to recuperate before you hear us again.
[01:20:17] Speaker C: Before we assault your ears with our horrible accents that never work.
[01:20:22] Speaker A: Yes.
All right. Bye, everybody. Enjoy wrestling.
[01:20:26] Speaker C: Bye. Happy wrestling.
Yeah.
[01:20:51] Speaker B: Go Go Gadget. Craig.
