Episode Transcript
[00:00:07] Speaker A: In the beginning, the earth was a dark, formless void.
But then God spoke and said, let there be wrestling.
And with that, there was Monday, and wrestling happened on Mondays.
[00:00:21] Speaker B: And God looked upon her works and.
[00:00:24] Speaker A: Said, holy shit, that's a lot of racism in video packages.
On the second day, God got depressed, and lo, did she post about it on the DVD VR forums. And with that, there was Tuesday.
[00:00:40] Speaker A: On the third day, God said, let there be Wednesday. And lo did the people reply unto her.
We know what that means.
[00:00:56] Speaker C: And welcome back to Wednesday night Fake Bites, where we talk all things aew.
This week we are, well, still in the midst of the Continental classic from famous Fishers, Illinois, possibly Fisher singular, someplace I've definitely heard of before this show.
As always, it's me, your boy, Jeff, the Tokimongos. And with me is one of my favorite people in the whole wide world. It's Ella. Hi, Ellen.
[00:01:21] Speaker A: It's a me isn't me Ella. It is me, the. The mad scientist of.
[00:01:25] Speaker C: Of professional wrestling podcasts.
[00:01:29] Speaker C: Science noises and edit.
[00:01:31] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, well. Well, no, not unless we're in the lab. Yeah, Yeah, I don't think I've actually taken the pod people down to the lab since we've gotten to the new studio.
[00:01:43] Speaker C: Like, weird up sci fi in our studios. Whatever happened with that big old egg we had floating around?
[00:01:50] Speaker A: Oh, from. From Thanksgiving. Yeah, I. Well, you know, I meant for them to come out at, you know, at the end of the episode, like the gobbledygooker. I think that they were hibernating, though, because, like, that beloved gimmick.
[00:02:07] Speaker A: Okay, well, one second. Let me see, then just give a little knock here.
[00:02:14] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:02:14] Speaker A: Okay. It's starting to crack. Okay, so y' all kind of might know about the fact that I like to clone old wrestling figures and trans their gender. You know, it's a hobby.
My first experiment, though, was.
Yeah, right. My first experiment. A lot of people don't know this. They already know my first experiment, but they don't know it's my first experiment.
I took a lovely possum in a wizard hat and sat it down in front of Daily Motion and just started feeding them the 90s wrestling and in. And a lot of people are familiar. You know, that's our. Our hampter.
But, you know, it became the ultimate hampter. There were steroids involved. We all loved Ultimate Hamper back in the Monday night show.
So when we moved, I.
I never grabbed them.
[00:03:08] Speaker A: I forgot.
So I went back over just to see how things were going over there, see if the heat had died down. See if I left anything. And they were still watching the daily motion feed now with a NWO shirt. So.
[00:03:25] Speaker C: Truly are a mad scientist.
[00:03:28] Speaker A: Look, I. I can. I. I do what I can, but you kind of have to let these things go. So needless to say, this is also how, like, 28.
[00:03:35] Speaker C: 28 days later started.
[00:03:36] Speaker A: That's kind of how that started. But.
[00:03:38] Speaker C: But I think.
[00:03:39] Speaker A: I think they're waking up now.
[00:03:43] Speaker A: And it is.
[00:04:08] Speaker B: Come out of the orange nacho cheese ooze.
[00:04:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:13] Speaker B: Does rise.
[00:04:16] Speaker B: Slim Jims all around them.
[00:04:19] Speaker A: I didn't put any of those things in the egg.
[00:04:26] Speaker B: Creator. Why have you. What year is it?
[00:04:33] Speaker A: Unfortunately, we. We are having to leave the 90s. We're leaving the 90s behind. Hampter. And we had. Yes.
[00:04:40] Speaker C: We're.
[00:04:40] Speaker A: We're bringing you forward in time and. And we have showed you the modern grabs.
It is aw. Time. Yes. Hampter, we love you. Welcome.
[00:04:50] Speaker C: Yeah.
20 years outside your comfort zone.
[00:04:55] Speaker B: 20, 25.
Oh, God, 26.
[00:05:00] Speaker A: Now, I'm gonna warn you, a lot less racism.
[00:05:07] Speaker C: You.
[00:05:07] Speaker B: Mongo, Loki just straight up dropped a slur last episode because dared to wrestle Japanese female wrestlers.
[00:05:19] Speaker B: Gorilla position. Like, to Mike today, I was like, oh, God.
So what I.
[00:05:27] Speaker C: Now all the slurs happen backstage.
[00:05:30] Speaker B: So when you turned it on and I didn't see any of that.
Was confused.
[00:05:36] Speaker A: I know there's a lot.
[00:05:37] Speaker C: Keep that in the group chats now.
[00:05:39] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. That's for the group chats only.
[00:05:43] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:05:46] Speaker A: But. Yes. Welcome, Hampter, to Wednesday night Fake Fights.
[00:05:50] Speaker C: And welcome for filling in. Coming in.
[00:05:53] Speaker A: Yeah. Thank you for filling in.
[00:05:54] Speaker B: I. I am.
I'm pleased and I'm happy to be here.
I hope to contain my 90s in the stink that it brings.
[00:06:05] Speaker A: So they've managed to mostly be.
[00:06:08] Speaker C: It helps, like, most of the pop culture references we make on this show are from, like, the 90s.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: Good.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: Yeah. No, we're all still old, so, like.
[00:06:16] Speaker C: We'Re still very there. This is very millennial. Like, Piper is the youngest, right?
[00:06:21] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:06:22] Speaker C: Let's say 29 or something like that.
[00:06:24] Speaker A: Piper's like a baby. Yeah.
[00:06:30] Speaker B: Don't be lying to me.
[00:06:31] Speaker C: You know them too.
[00:06:33] Speaker B: The very first thing I saw on TV was Tony Schiavone.
[00:06:37] Speaker A: Yeah. I was gonna say.
[00:06:39] Speaker C: Yeah, well, there's. This is. There's the blood of, like, old wrestling in this. I mean, well, if you're watching it on the.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: It's a Turner broadcast. It's a Turner Broadcasting Network, so, like, you know, it's still.
[00:06:52] Speaker C: They were just at the Greensboro Coliseum and North Carolina.
Very. Yeah. Inundated with that stuff. Tony Khan, the guy who runs, he's a wrestling nerd from as long back as possible.
[00:07:04] Speaker A: You can watch ecw, like episodes of ECW where you see the owner of Aw in the crowd.
[00:07:10] Speaker C: Yeah, he's just chilling out in the front row.
Got that billionaire money. Gotta go see Tommy Dreamer.
[00:07:15] Speaker A: Yeah. Right next to his billionaire father at ECW Arena.
[00:07:23] Speaker B: Honestly, if you have money.
[00:07:26] Speaker C: Yeah. If I was a billionaire, this is exactly what I would be doing. Like I. Yeah, I would be. This would be the exact company I would make, probably with like the exact people I would make largely with the same booking I would make.
[00:07:39] Speaker A: Yeah, I, I imagine the only thing I do differently is insist that they unionize.
Well, yeah, I feel like y' all can't work here unless you're union.
[00:07:53] Speaker A: You're going to have good health care.
[00:07:55] Speaker B: You also probably then wouldn't be a billionaire. I'm just saying.
[00:07:58] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, true. So you're going to have health care whether you like it or not.
[00:08:03] Speaker C: The cons have. They're not just like a $1 or $2 billion billionaires. There are many hundred hundreds of billions of dollars.
[00:08:12] Speaker A: They have more money than they could ever spend.
[00:08:15] Speaker C: Yeah, The Tennessee Titans. His dad owns the. What is it? Manchester United, not the Tennessee Titans.
[00:08:21] Speaker A: He owns the Jacksonville Jaguars.
[00:08:22] Speaker C: That's it. Yeah, yeah. And I want to say Manu or one of the big soccer team.
[00:08:27] Speaker A: I don't think it's Manu, but yeah, they do.
[00:08:29] Speaker C: I don't, I don't know. Real sports. I don't.
[00:08:31] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know.
[00:08:32] Speaker C: Predetermined, just sports entertainment. But either way, that one is not running dry anytime soon.
[00:08:45] Speaker A: Yeah, we got the Continental Classic, Baby Hampter's first round robin.
[00:08:50] Speaker C: We have a show with Samoa Joe as a televised world champion.
[00:08:55] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:08:57] Speaker B: Wild to me.
[00:08:59] Speaker C: I don't think WCW ever did a round robin tournament. They might.
[00:09:03] Speaker A: No, this is like the first American. I'm Pretty sure the C2 is the first one of these in America.
[00:09:13] Speaker A: I'm sure televised at least. Yeah, I'm sure they indies probably did it. But you know, you know how what Vince says, if it didn't happen on tv, it didn't happen.
[00:09:24] Speaker C: I love tournaments. I think they are such like good grounds for storytelling. They let you build these like inner and it's just you're guaranteed like a couple kick ass matches a show.
[00:09:34] Speaker A: Speaking of, we should probably get into the show properly because there was so many kick ass matches tonight.
[00:09:42] Speaker C: Well, speaking of slurs and shivani is in the ring to start it off.
I don't know.
He's probably not. I think it's just because he's from.
[00:09:52] Speaker A: I don't think he's racist. I think he's old.
[00:09:54] Speaker C: Well, yeah, exactly. I think Jim Ross is probably racist, but I don't know any is Joe.
[00:10:02] Speaker C: All right, this is how it takes as we're gonna start off with. So, yeah, Tony's in the ring. Yeah. We're gonna be doing a championship face off. Aw. Men's world heavyweight tit holder, Samoa Joe and his champion for next week at Winners coming, Eddie Kingston.
Tony starts off saying that everybody's barred from ringside for this face to face because these two men are so volatile.
So you haven't probably ever seen any of these people, have you? After.
[00:10:27] Speaker B: I have not.
[00:10:29] Speaker C: All right. This is all, like, going in fresh.
[00:10:32] Speaker B: This was an incre. I really.
[00:10:36] Speaker B: I mean, I knew going in that this was gonna kind of be different for me.
[00:10:44] Speaker B: I love the.
I love the fact that speaking and on camera, like, back and forth has improved. Like, these guys were great. Like, I immediately got into the beef.
I immediately felt for.
I felt burns from both sides. I was just like, okay. Like, I am. I am engaged and intrigued by this rivalry.
And I was like, damn, I want to see it.
[00:11:12] Speaker C: Yeah. And they have, like, good dynamics that are obvious of who they are. Like, Joe is very much that. That powerhouse heel world champion Eddie Kingston is that man of the people type face.
[00:11:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:25] Speaker C: He comes out, he's wearing a. The. The Trash Pandas jersey, which is apparently a minor league baseball team, which I familiar with. It looked very cool, though.
[00:11:35] Speaker A: I thought he just loved raccoons like I do.
[00:11:37] Speaker B: I immediately liked Eddie because he used the term, like, old guys, old guard as a slur.
[00:11:44] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:11:45] Speaker B: And I was.
[00:11:45] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. He really went after him.
[00:11:47] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:48] Speaker C: I think Eddie Kingston was looking pretty fit, too. He was looking trimmer like that. He can use. He can be a. When he's eating his five guys and his ice creams and stuff like that.
[00:11:59] Speaker A: He could be a big boy.
[00:12:00] Speaker C: Yeah. But he was looking good in that jersey when he.
[00:12:03] Speaker A: When he first got back from the injury. Not even that long ago, he still looked pretty big.
I felt like. Like, I feel like he's put in a lot of work just in the last couple weeks, like, but also, like, yeah, he used to be bigger. That's one of the reasons I love Eddie is he looks closer to the 70s 80s style wrestler, where, like, he just looks like a dude.
[00:12:25] Speaker C: I'll say. Like, in real Life. The. The guys I've known who are actually tough, like, the ones that really will like somebody up in an look like Eddie Kingston.
[00:12:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:34] Speaker C: They look more like Eddie Kingston than they do like Hulk Hogan.
[00:12:37] Speaker A: Like, all the guys I know looked like Hulk Hogan are douchebags who don't want to get in a fight because, like, all of their muscles are. Are for show.
[00:12:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:12:46] Speaker B: I mean, that is.
[00:12:49] Speaker A: Experience.
You breathe in their direction the right way, and they tear a quad because they're on so much juice. Their muscles aren't supp. Get that, B.
[00:12:59] Speaker C: Guys like Eddie, they're all relaxed from chicken and beer. They can throw fists like nothing.
[00:13:04] Speaker B: Do we have a personal.
[00:13:07] Speaker B: Dog in this fight?
[00:13:09] Speaker C: Oh, hey, honest, I would like to see a huge surprise where Eddie Kingston does win the belt on TV next week. It's one thing they've been. He's never. And that's what they talk about in the promo. Eddie's never won the big one. He's always kind of that perennial second man. Very beloved, but he kind of, like, can't cross that finish line.
[00:13:27] Speaker A: Everyone loves him, but it's.
[00:13:28] Speaker C: He.
[00:13:28] Speaker A: He doesn't look like the kind of guy you would make a champion, you know, like, he's not.
[00:13:32] Speaker C: Yeah.
He's not behind him because of that. And, like, I think it could be a huge. I don't think it's gonna happen. I think Joe's gonna beat him. I think Joe's gonna retain until swerver. So another one of the big faces take it off him in a couple months. It would be a very fun, like, surprise moment. That would.
[00:13:52] Speaker A: Yeah, it would be a huge. But, you know, it would be an amazing pop. It'd be a great moment. And then a bunch of people would complain because Joe.
[00:13:59] Speaker C: Yeah. A short run. People complain no matter what, though.
[00:14:02] Speaker A: That's what I'm learning is, like, even. Even people will that, like, I otherwise generally agree with their grabs.
[00:14:09] Speaker C: Don't book for people on the Internet. Book specifically for me because I.
[00:14:14] Speaker B: How long has Joe had the title?
[00:14:17] Speaker C: Not long.
[00:14:18] Speaker A: A couple weeks.
[00:14:21] Speaker C: He had a good long run last year.
[00:14:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:14:24] Speaker C: Back to the hangman page. Who you see later, who was kind of like, he's the. Almost the ace of the company, and he had a surprisingly short reign that he just lost it to Joe at the last big paper.
[00:14:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:14:34] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:14:35] Speaker A: And people complained because they're. Because it was a short reign. I.
I get it. But also, like, I'm. Like, I'm of. Of the.
[00:14:45] Speaker C: We.
[00:14:46] Speaker A: We didn't get there on our Monday night journey before Things got shuttered back in the day.
[00:14:52] Speaker C: Cutter aids were like, 20 days. They were like.
[00:14:55] Speaker A: But yeah, when you get, like, the late. And once you get past the screw job.
[00:15:00] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:01] Speaker A: In 97, like, once you get to, like, the late 90s, the belt was changing hands every couple weeks.
[00:15:07] Speaker C: Like, sometimes every other Raw, there would be a new. Just throw it on Mick Foley for the. Of it.
He's the champion now.
[00:15:14] Speaker B: Sure, why not?
[00:15:16] Speaker A: They would. They really. They would play popcorn with the belt.
Yeah. Like, they'll never get that, huh? Because I don't. I don't think he's cool.
[00:15:25] Speaker C: Put it back on Dwayne next week.
[00:15:27] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. I'll show him.
It's good.
[00:15:32] Speaker A: I'm losing my Vince because we haven't been playing in that effort. And that's actually good. That's a good thing. I don't want to do a good Vince McMahon.
[00:15:39] Speaker B: Don't put that poison in your body.
[00:15:41] Speaker C: I do find Vince easier to do than Jimmy Hart. It's easier to go low and gravelly.
[00:15:47] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:15:51] Speaker B: Yeah. Southern Mickey Mouse.
[00:15:54] Speaker A: Oh, God, that's terrifying.
[00:15:58] Speaker B: Let me cook you, Kevin.
[00:16:00] Speaker C: We had Joe telling Tony Schiavone to get out of the ring before he snatches his ugly wig off his head, which I don't think Tony Schiavone has a wig. I think he just has.
[00:16:08] Speaker A: Tony Schiavone does not wear a toupee. No, it would be cool.
[00:16:13] Speaker C: The funny thing is Eddie's in the ring, and Eddie doesn't stand up for him. He just kind of waves Tony away. Like. Yeah, you should probably get out of here before.
Wake off your head.
[00:16:22] Speaker A: Yeah. Like, no, he'll. This is small Joe. He'll kill you.
[00:16:26] Speaker C: Yeah, you should probably leave.
[00:16:28] Speaker A: Joe's gonna kill you, and he will.
[00:16:32] Speaker C: Yeah. Like you're saying this kind of. The whole promo theme is just kind of. That it's in it. It's. I love Eddie, but it's kind of the same thing they've done with Eddie a lot where it's like the story of you just can't get there. You're a bum and all that. And Eddie having the heart and fighting through and everything. I'm excited for. It was a fun promo back and.
[00:16:48] Speaker A: Forth, and I guarantee it's gonna be a great match because they're. They're both.
They're both awesome.
[00:16:55] Speaker C: Like.
[00:16:55] Speaker A: Like, they're. They're gonna have a good time. But I don't think he wins it. I don't think we. We get.
[00:17:00] Speaker C: I also liked Eddie saying he wanted to cut the section short. So he could go back to his hotel room and go to sleep.
[00:17:05] Speaker B: Real.
[00:17:06] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:08] Speaker C: People.
[00:17:08] Speaker B: He was also like, I know y' all want to watch wrestling. And I was just. Appreciate you, Eddie. I appreciate you.
[00:17:15] Speaker C: He is a man who loves pro wrestling.
[00:17:18] Speaker A: Yeah. It's still real to him. Damn it. And. And like that. So he's like, yeah, no, this next week, I'm gonna kill you. Until then, I'm gonna go bed.
But next week, I kill you. I hurt you real bad.
[00:17:32] Speaker C: It does. It rounds out well, too, with Eddie talking about how he wants to see the old Joe from Ring of Honor, the Killer Joe, and that if Joe doesn't bring it on the 10th, then he will eat him alive.
Which was a good little line to end it on, I thought.
Yeah, it.
[00:17:46] Speaker A: I don't necessarily want him to win it because, like, I don't. I don't. I wanna. I want more heat.
[00:17:54] Speaker C: Tell me what you want. What you really, really want.
[00:17:56] Speaker A: I wanna. I wanna. I wanna. I wanna. Good storyline for Eddie when he gets the belt.
[00:18:02] Speaker C: Indeed.
[00:18:04] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't want to just be like, we're gonna give it to Eddie because everyone was mad at us for putting on Joe, so love us like that. That's.
That's the kind of, like, booking for the people online that I. I do not like.
[00:18:22] Speaker B: Feels cheap.
[00:18:23] Speaker A: Feels cheap. I feel. Yeah, it feels like you're. That feels like pandering. I want. I want any. I want Eddie to have the belt. I want it to be emotionally.
[00:18:31] Speaker C: I want to be special.
[00:18:34] Speaker C: Prom night.
[00:18:36] Speaker A: Well, yeah, I want to be.
[00:18:37] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:18:38] Speaker A: I want to be like a big.
[00:18:39] Speaker C: Just right.
[00:18:40] Speaker A: Just right. It's gotta be prom night.
He's. He's got to do it.
It's got to be the perfect partner, you know, he can't fight just anyone.
[00:18:52] Speaker C: Heart will go on playing.
[00:18:54] Speaker A: Yeah, Heart will go on playing a little bit reverse cowgirl, and it's. It's gonna be great.
[00:19:00] Speaker C: All right, I'm. I'm gonna start crying here.
[00:19:03] Speaker A: Yeah, I know, I know. It's so emotional.
[00:19:07] Speaker C: We jump to.
[00:19:08] Speaker A: Wait, are we talking about Eddie getting the belt or doing sex with Mojo?
[00:19:12] Speaker C: Wait, I don't think there's that much of a difference.
[00:19:15] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:19:20] Speaker C: Yeah. We got Excalibur running down the card. We got a bunch of Continental Classic matches. We've got the tag title finals and the Holiday Death match. And we jump.
Yeah, yeah, we jump backstage. We got Hobbs, Hook, and Shabata.
Hobbs has some business to take care of. Says everyone wants to be the Trio's championships. Says that Dark Order. Who we haven't seen on AEW TV for a while was showing out in Ring of Honor. And that if they can get past Hobbs and Hook tonight, they will get a trio's title shot against Hob, Shabata and Joe. But Joe will be double champion. And I still don't care about Hook. I don't give a. About this kid.
[00:19:59] Speaker B: Is this NWO?
[00:20:05] Speaker C: There's like three NWOs going right now.
[00:20:07] Speaker A: There's like three NWOs going on in this company.
[00:20:10] Speaker C: Good.
[00:20:10] Speaker B: So I can't use that.
[00:20:11] Speaker A: This is NW Joe.
Yes, this is NW Joe. Yeah. They have a dojo.
A Samoa dojo.
[00:20:21] Speaker C: NW Samoa Jojo. Okay, that's getting hard.
[00:20:23] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. No, yeah. No, it's a tongue twister. I like it.
[00:20:28] Speaker C: Yeah. There's Samoa Joe's, you know, backing crew. There is people behind him. He's the trio's champion with them and all that too.
And they're pretty. It's been a fun faction, but they're are trying to use a dial bait hook, who is not clicking it at all. We'll get into him more later.
We got our first match, which is Kazuchika Okada versus the Bastard Pack in a Gold League match, which, yeah, he has some good people. This is a stack tournament.
[00:20:58] Speaker A: It's a stacked tournament. It's a stacked card for the night, even. And this was a. This first match was.
[00:21:05] Speaker C: Pack is absolutely stacked in the back.
[00:21:08] Speaker B: Yeah. I was about to say in a stacked pack. Honestly, it's just like.
[00:21:12] Speaker C: Yeah, bounce a quarter off that thing.
[00:21:15] Speaker A: It's a night of short kings and we are starting it.
[00:21:20] Speaker A: With the shortest, densest guy on the roster.
[00:21:25] Speaker A: Well, not the shortest guy on the roster, but the densest guy.
[00:21:28] Speaker C: No, no. He's like. Yeah, dense, I think is the fair way to put it. He is. His physique is absurd. Like, no person should look like that.
What the.
[00:21:39] Speaker A: Like, where. There you just. There. Where do you shove all of it? Like.
[00:21:43] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:21:44] Speaker A: And he's just kind of always look like that, honestly.
[00:21:46] Speaker C: I mean, that clearly, like, that's people talk about. I. I genuinely don't think he's on stereo. I think he is just like some kind of mythical British creature that rose out of a swamp at some point. That's like that since he was fully formed. Like, I can't imagine him as a child. I don't think he was ever a boy.
[00:22:05] Speaker B: He came out, his mother gave birth to him through squats.
[00:22:10] Speaker C: He rose as a squat. A little bastard on the floor.
[00:22:15] Speaker C: In.
[00:22:16] Speaker A: Which he immediately started squatting.
[00:22:19] Speaker C: She Dropped out another smaller pack, and it just keeps going into infinity.
[00:22:24] Speaker A: The Russian doll of bastards. Yeah.
[00:22:27] Speaker B: Truly, he did his.
And, like, he uses his denseness to his advantage. He.
With. When he bounces back and forth between the. The ropes.
[00:22:40] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:22:40] Speaker A: That.
[00:22:41] Speaker C: That run into that layer is just nuts.
[00:22:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:44] Speaker A: I just. It makes me giggle, though, that the way he sets it up, because he's just in my head because he's so tiny. He starts doing it, my brain goes, want to go fast?
[00:22:53] Speaker C: Want to go fast. Want to go fast.
[00:23:01] Speaker B: Small person. I feel like I instinctively understand I. How he fights, because I'm just like, you need to use your tiny body to your advantage.
[00:23:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:23:14] Speaker B: You understand much energy and force behind yourself, so you understand.
[00:23:19] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a very good clash.
Yeah. Kind of a very, like, rangy guy, too. He's very lanky and, like, tall and stuff like that.
[00:23:29] Speaker C: Because they're both fighting on the heel side right now. They're both part of heel factions, and we get that later in the show, too. But, like, you could tell the crowd kind of picks Okada as the favorite throughout. Like, they start really getting behind him. He gets a lot of more, like, anytime he hits that drop kick, it boggles my mind. That dude can, like, nail it with such precision out of anywhere, and it just looks amazing every time.
[00:23:55] Speaker A: Is terrifying.
Truly.
[00:23:58] Speaker B: Okada was also on my list, my short list of things I know about modern wrestling, because I.
I remember his face. His. Just his.
Yeah, he is. He is quite handsome.
And you relate it. You compared him. Is this your Ric Flair? Yeah.
Especially sparkly robe.
[00:24:23] Speaker A: Yeah, the sparkly robe.
[00:24:24] Speaker C: And also in terms of, like, size, like, in Japan, Okada was, like, one of the biggest. Not just wrestling champ, but, like, a star in a lot.
[00:24:33] Speaker A: He was a big. Yeah, he was a big deal.
[00:24:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:24:36] Speaker C: There's a commercial with him and Mila Jolievich for a card game. That's, like, one of the funniest things I've ever. They're, like, on a rooftop, and they're, like, all dressed in black and stuff, and it, like, cuts back and forth between them in Japanese and. And Mila Jolievich pulls out these playing cards, and they, like, go against each other.
Commercials are wild.
[00:24:58] Speaker A: It's like, no, that's. That's Okada. That's a wrestler. Don't take him seriously. That's.
[00:25:02] Speaker C: He's.
[00:25:03] Speaker A: That's a carny. Don't. Don't.
Like, what are you doing here?
[00:25:06] Speaker C: I mean, all fairness, she's the resident evil lady. It's not out there, like, It's a pretty fair mashup.
[00:25:21] Speaker C: Right? Yeah, no, where Pac is doing those, like, run ups. Like, they do that a couple times.
Cuts it off really well.
[00:25:29] Speaker A: Yeah, they did that a lot in this match. There was a lot of people starting their sequence and getting cut off.
[00:25:35] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:25:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:25:35] Speaker A: It would have driven Bret Hart insane to play it back to the Monday night show. Happened to him a lot. I've started my sequence. If you interrupt it, then I have to start the whole thing over again.
[00:25:48] Speaker A: That happened a couple times.
Yeah, that happened five moves of doom in the. In this match.
[00:25:56] Speaker C: That was. It's like back breaker, the second rope elbow. Like shoulder block, maybe.
[00:26:02] Speaker A: Oh, atomic drop.
[00:26:04] Speaker C: Atomic drop. Yeah. I always. I mix it up with Cena's five moves of doom.
[00:26:08] Speaker A: Yep, yep, yep. Shoulder block is a scene of five move of doom. Yeah.
[00:26:14] Speaker A: Everyone'S got their sequence.
[00:26:16] Speaker A: Especially if you're in the Fed.
[00:26:19] Speaker C: Yeah, we get. We get to the end of it. Pack is a really good, like, top rope brain buster on Okada. And Pac finally gets it built up and he hits that build up lariat out and takes his head off with it. Immediately transitions into the brutalizer. Okada rolls it over into a pin for a three count and his first win of the turn.
[00:26:38] Speaker A: God, what a finish.
[00:26:41] Speaker C: Yeah, it was a cool, Very cool match.
[00:26:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I really thought that.
That he was going to beat him. Todd.
[00:26:51] Speaker B: Same. I was shocked.
[00:26:54] Speaker C: They made it believable.
[00:26:55] Speaker A: They made it very believable. And. And it's.
Yeah, I'm happy, you know. Good. You got the win, by the way. For a second there, I was like, man, if you leave, beat him. Like, what if they start Okada on a losing streak?
That would be wild.
It. Let's get real weird.
[00:27:13] Speaker C: Everybody's predicting it to be Okada and Takeshita in the final, but it would be fun. Yeah. If they swerved it and made it. It actually played Death Rider Spinal or it ends up being.
[00:27:21] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:27:22] Speaker C: Audio for leadership of the Death Riders.
[00:27:24] Speaker A: Basically, I'm sitting here because I'm sitting there. As the match is going on, they kept looking like Pac might win. I was like, what if Tony Khan has become addicted to the swerve after this Joe win?
[00:27:36] Speaker C: He's got that juice in him.
[00:27:39] Speaker A: Yeah, he's got that Russo juice. I mean, y' all got any more of those swerves back there? Yeah, I can find it again.
[00:27:46] Speaker B: I can get it again.
[00:27:48] Speaker C: I think we should put more things on poles. I just think, yeah.
[00:27:57] Speaker A: Yeah. Give me Hangman's mom in a forklift.
[00:28:00] Speaker C: Is Judy Bagwell still alive?
Probably not.
[00:28:03] Speaker A: Yeah, probably not. He's cooking.
Yeah.
Oh, God. No, Tony, don't. Tony, again, I know you. Listen, please don't.
[00:28:12] Speaker C: I just isn't. He's enough of a mark. I'm sure he hates Russo. Like, I.
I don't think he'd probably ever say it, but I'm sure he looks probably intuitively counter to whatever. Whenever he books him, he's probably like, would you. Would fucking Vince Russo do that? Okay, I'm not gonna do it.
[00:28:30] Speaker B: Do you think he has a, like, WWV bracelet? Like the WWJD folks.
[00:28:42] Speaker B: Reverses it immediately, like swerve.
[00:28:49] Speaker C: Just the opposite of his instincts.
[00:28:54] Speaker B: Kind of had a sick ddt, actually. And I love that I see people getting up from DDTs in this.
[00:29:02] Speaker C: Yeah. It's not a finishing and move anymore.
[00:29:04] Speaker B: I'm just like, wow.
Yeah.
[00:29:06] Speaker A: Welcome to 25 Years Later. You can do them.
[00:29:09] Speaker C: You have to watch. You'll have to watch a full crazy young bucks match where they hit 25 super kicks throughout the course of it. It is like the most transitional move in the world now.
[00:29:20] Speaker A: And it's like that. That was Shawn Michaels finisher.
[00:29:24] Speaker C: Okada hits a tombstone in this match and it's.
[00:29:27] Speaker B: Yeah, he does too.
[00:29:30] Speaker A: Gets the. Out of it.
[00:29:31] Speaker C: Yeah. Great happened to our bridge.
[00:29:34] Speaker B: I was very shocked when. Yeah, he kicked out at the end.
[00:29:39] Speaker A: No, that was nuts. Yeah. No. Oh, God, no. Good point too. And I got a really good German in there. Fantastic bridge.
Oh, yeah. What a match. Fantastic. Fantastic opening match. Well, I should it. It's funny. That was the opening match because we opened with talkies.
[00:29:58] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:29:59] Speaker A: It's like we're like an hour into the show as like the first match.
[00:30:02] Speaker C: Yeah. Normally. Aw is very opposite of like what WWF and stuff. Instead of starting with a town hall or promo or something, it's usually match to kick it off. This was a little out of. Out of the usual for y. Yeah.
Backstage with old Mark Brisco, the TNT champion.
[00:30:19] Speaker A: Oh, we conglomerating.
[00:30:21] Speaker C: Yeah.
Mark Brisco is a beloved man. He is.
[00:30:25] Speaker A: The word of the day is retribation.
[00:30:31] Speaker C: Right?
[00:30:31] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:30:34] Speaker B: With a great belt. It's like beautiful.
[00:30:36] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, yeah. It's his like, custom one that like camo strap on. It is really cool.
[00:30:42] Speaker A: I didn't even know right away.
[00:30:44] Speaker C: Yeah, they did it like. They did a Twitter thing where they. I think Orange Cassidy presented it to him in like a short video or something like that.
[00:30:53] Speaker A: Oh, that's cute.
[00:30:55] Speaker C: Yeah. But one of my favorite things about the TNT belt is that they do the custom straps and they do like the, you know, something that relates to the character and stuff with itself.
[00:31:04] Speaker A: They've been. Yeah, they've been on a streak of that lately, and I think they should keep that up. It's. It's.
[00:31:08] Speaker C: Yeah, I always love that. Yeah, that's what I think. The old Intercontinental Championship in wwf, they'd always have people had, like, different belt colors for it and stuff. It made it feel very personal and unique.
[00:31:20] Speaker A: I like the personal belts. I think that's a really cool way of doing it.
So, no, I'm happy, and it looks really good, and I'm happy anytime Mark Briscoe is on my tv, more or less. I love my chicken.
[00:31:36] Speaker C: Yeah. He talks about how he faced Daniel Garcia twice last year, once in the Continental Classic and once for Garcia's TNT belt. They both won one and that he thought Garcia was the real deal back in the day. He says that Mark is now the TNT champ and he really isn't sure what he thinks about Danny anymore. I talked about Garcia doing Death Rider stuff and doing mind games, and Mark says he doesn't do mind games. So he asked Tony Khan for the match and that it. It will happen at Winter is coming.
It's coming and he's coming. He says we are all coming.
[00:32:11] Speaker A: Everyone is coming.
[00:32:13] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:32:18] Speaker C: It was a fun little promo, though.
[00:32:20] Speaker A: I'm certainly excited for the match. I don't know about all that.
[00:32:25] Speaker C: No. Yeah, I don't. But he has.
Has nine children, so he does plenty of coming as it is.
[00:32:31] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:32:34] Speaker A: Oh, Jesus Christ.
[00:32:35] Speaker B: He would know.
[00:32:37] Speaker A: He came three times during that promo. We didn't even see it yet.
[00:32:41] Speaker B: It's two more kids.
[00:32:43] Speaker A: Yeah, that's two more kids. Yes.
[00:32:46] Speaker C: It is very much like the Simpsons. The Cletus, when he comes out, he's just like that kid, our kid. Following him out, I was like, all I picture every time.
[00:32:58] Speaker A: Oh, I love you, Brisco. Please stop having children. No more.
[00:33:02] Speaker C: We got Poor Wife.
[00:33:04] Speaker A: Your poor wife.
Jesus.
[00:33:08] Speaker C: Yeah. Next we got another backstage promo. We go to Ricochet and the Demand.
I guess the demand includes Ricochet, Ricochet and the Gates of Agony. Yeah, she has the. Says he has to keep his phone on do not Disturb now because of how many people are asking him to come save their companies. Says he is doing his charity work.
He says he's gonna do some charity work this Friday when he. Dalton Castle at Final Battle on for the.
[00:33:36] Speaker C: New national title that he just has.
[00:33:38] Speaker A: So. Hell yeah, it. Give it to Dalton Castle. Send Dalton Castle in Japan is this nwo.
[00:33:46] Speaker C: I guess actually there are four because I wasn't counting the demand when we said that earlier.
[00:33:52] Speaker A: Well, the demand's just a trio's team, I guess.
[00:33:55] Speaker C: Yeah, we talked about this before. I. I don't consider a faction has to be four or more for me.
[00:34:01] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:34:02] Speaker C: Yeah. That's my rule. Otherwise it's just.
[00:34:04] Speaker A: Yeah. Or why is this true? Especially because there's trios belts.
[00:34:08] Speaker C: So it's like if you can even. Technically, the NWO didn't form at first.
[00:34:13] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:34:14] Speaker B: Four and then like six.
[00:34:16] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[00:34:19] Speaker B: Seriously, I was just. It's more of like an attitude thing.
But like. Or just like I'm here to shake up the establishment.
[00:34:27] Speaker C: Once there just started being like different nations, like sub nw, Each country was getting its own nwo.
[00:34:35] Speaker A: Yeah. There's Latino World order. There's wol.
[00:34:39] Speaker C: Oh my God.
[00:34:40] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:34:42] Speaker B: Franchise their new world order. Which I suppose like the cult thing to do.
[00:34:47] Speaker C: But like when I was in elementary school, Wolf Pack NWO was the coolest looking in the world.
That the black and red, like regular NWO was cool, but there was something about sting with face pain. And I was like, Wolf Pack was.
[00:35:02] Speaker A: Where it was at.
Yeah.
Oh, see, no hampters here. We keep talking about 90s.
[00:35:08] Speaker C: We knew this weekend that this was an expected side effect of this.
[00:35:15] Speaker A: Yes, yes.
[00:35:16] Speaker C: This is a feature, not a bug.
[00:35:19] Speaker A: This is true. This is true.
[00:35:21] Speaker B: My. This is how.
[00:35:23] Speaker B: This is how the 90s I've spread. But I will say this. I will bring it back to the. To the present day where.
[00:35:31] Speaker B: He was a luchador the whole time.
[00:35:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:35:35] Speaker C: Oh yeah.
[00:35:37] Speaker B: Commentary table.
And I'm like.
[00:35:42] Speaker C: Oh yeah, Excalibur. Yeah. He was a wrestler until he his leg up so bad in a match that like, it. It was broken for like 10 years. It. He just started doing commentary and he.
[00:35:54] Speaker A: I'm a commentator now.
[00:35:55] Speaker C: Yep. And he's always just kept the ma. I always thought that was a very fun gimmick. Like, that's a cool way to do it. He's always just. He just stayed Excalibur. He never became like Brian probably. He looks like. I've seen him without the mask. He looks like a Brian. He looks like he works his best body.
[00:36:10] Speaker B: I know exactly what you're talking about.
[00:36:12] Speaker C: He's got like short. He's a little. He's a chubby dude. He's got like short brown hair. He has a little goatee and like. Yeah, he. Excalibur looks like he's helping you pick out a laptop. Like.
And I say that with the utmost love.
[00:36:23] Speaker A: Yeah. Parentheses, complimentary.
[00:36:26] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:36:27] Speaker B: Keep the. Keep the mask on.
[00:36:31] Speaker A: Oh, Excalibur. I. I don't want to know what Excalibur looks like without the mask. That would be weird.
[00:36:37] Speaker C: Yeah. After I felt kind of, like, empty after I saw it. It was.
It was very much a saw. Mommy kissing Santa Claus. Like, oh, the magic's gone. Like, yeah.
[00:36:48] Speaker A: No, keep the key. Keep the mask on. This isn't Best Buy.
[00:36:52] Speaker B: Yeah. Speaking of keep.
[00:36:55] Speaker B: Mommy. Mommy kissing Santa Claus.
[00:37:00] Speaker B: Kyle Fletcher and Kevin.
[00:37:03] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[00:37:04] Speaker B: Was an incredible match.
[00:37:08] Speaker A: What a transition.
[00:37:13] Speaker C: I say we did have that. One more backstage segment before that.
[00:37:16] Speaker B: Oh, sorry.
[00:37:17] Speaker C: No, yeah. It's okay. Yeah. Normally this is, like, three backstage promos in a row. Normally they, like, break it up with.
[00:37:23] Speaker A: A match, but at least they're not video packages.
[00:37:26] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. And this is fun.
[00:37:29] Speaker C: It is. Renee Paquette, backstage with the Conglomeration.
[00:37:34] Speaker A: Conglomerating.
[00:37:35] Speaker C: Yeah. Saturday. And you knew Orange Cassidy. That was on your list, too.
[00:37:39] Speaker B: That was on my list, yeah.
[00:37:41] Speaker C: Yeah. It's a shame he wasn't wrestling, but at least he did make an appearance.
[00:37:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:37:45] Speaker C: This Saturday, we have Orange Cassidy vs. Roderick Strong in a Canelo classic match. And Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale are being absolutely adorable. Like, they were gonna do a little, like, scooch up behind.
[00:37:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:37:59] Speaker C: Rowdy. And put their arms on them. And I love the Babes of Wrath so much.
[00:38:04] Speaker A: I love the Conglomeration so much.
[00:38:08] Speaker C: I especially love Roderick not wanting to be in the Conglomeration. He said he yells about and says he's gonna beat Warren. And I saw. I think it's Iora is how. It's somebody on Blue sky that I've known for Twitter who said that Roderick is, like, the dad who let Kyle Fletcher invite his friends over for dnd. But now that he's. He's like, no, you can't come over and show up when Kyle's not here. Like, that's not how.
[00:38:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:38:35] Speaker C: You. Because of my kid. But now he's gone.
[00:38:39] Speaker A: That's exactly it. He's. He. He's definitely, like, the cranky dad or, like, the cranky neighbor sitcom neighbor who, like, there doesn't want to be. Yeah.
[00:38:49] Speaker C: Who also is one of the best wrestlers in the world. Like, true. He's a very funny, goofy dude, but he kills in the rain.
[00:38:57] Speaker A: I. I love how they.
They try. He tried to.
[00:39:05] Speaker A: Say, like, what about Conglomeration rules? No chops.
[00:39:11] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. We thought we talked about what about, you know, we should be cool. I'm like, you. I'm Gonna hurt you.
[00:39:17] Speaker C: Roderick calls him an idiot and says he's gonna break his back.
You put Renee and Orange Cassidy. And Orange Cassidy leaves her name and says, I don't think he saw me. And Ray's like, you were right there.
[00:39:27] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, you're right there, dude.
[00:39:29] Speaker C: And actually there is one more segment before we finally get to the match. It's just a real brief one. Darby Allen was badly. Was not badly hurt. He was. He was legitimately injured last Saturday in his match with Kevin Knight. He was in the hospital.
[00:39:45] Speaker B: Let her. Let her feelings be known about that.
[00:39:49] Speaker C: I guess he is out of the hospital now. They don't know if he's going to continue with the tournament. It's going to be announced on Saturday.
[00:39:56] Speaker C: We'll see what. We'll see where things go there.
[00:39:58] Speaker B: Darby Allen as Sting's child is also on my list.
[00:40:03] Speaker C: That's very much like the best part about him.
[00:40:06] Speaker A: Yeah. The only thing about him I could ever deal like, manage to make it, like, deal with the Bulls. If Darby's there, Sting would be there. And for those, like, at least there might be a Sting.
[00:40:16] Speaker C: How good the end of Sting's run was and everything. Like, that's all. I guess there's some shine rubbed off from that.
[00:40:23] Speaker A: Yeah, not much.
[00:40:24] Speaker C: I mean, I know. Yeah. As much. As positive as possible.
[00:40:28] Speaker A: Like, I. I hate. I hate Darby Allen, but. Oh, I can't. The stupid camera. I hate Darby Allen, but I have needle print of Darby Allen here.
[00:40:36] Speaker C: Oh, you do?
[00:40:38] Speaker A: Yeah, because it's him with Sting and they have the take team belts.
But, like, I think they don't keep.
[00:40:45] Speaker C: Up with your green screen in the background thing. Like.
[00:40:48] Speaker A: But it also.
[00:40:49] Speaker C: You're just holding. It looks like you're just holding a frame up with packs juicy ass in it. Like. Yeah.
[00:40:54] Speaker A: Oh, now I want to do it on purpose, but no, maybe that's part of the reason.
There we go.
[00:41:03] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:41:03] Speaker A: Frame that ass.
[00:41:05] Speaker C: You can see this.
[00:41:08] Speaker A: None of you could see this, but that's England's ass.
[00:41:12] Speaker A: Yeah. No part. I think that's our reason why I am always vocally hating on Darby Allen is because my love of Sting means that I have to stare at him all the time because I want Sting needlepoint on my desk. Because that's cool.
[00:41:27] Speaker C: And it is really cool.
[00:41:28] Speaker A: Darby's there.
Dory and I got for free. And it's a commemoration of Sting's last match. I won it in a contest.
[00:41:38] Speaker C: I think it's fair. Yeah.
Yeah. We do get to move on to what, in my opinion is the Mat the match of the night. This I said, yeah.
[00:41:46] Speaker A: That's one of the only notes I took. Oh, one of the only notes I took was Knight vs Fletcher Motn.
[00:41:53] Speaker C: Kevin Knight vs Kyle Fletcher for a gold league match. And like I these guys just kill it. Like we've talked a lot about how Kevin Knight has really like quickly grown into a star. He's still relatively new in aw came over from Japan but like he has shown out to such a degree every single time and it is just I. He's gotten over rightfully so from it.
[00:42:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:42:19] Speaker A: Yeah. Kyle Fletcher's having like that Mercedes Monet moment for me where I'm just like stop being in my match of the year contenders. Like just stop it. They can't. It's not fair that all of my match of the years. Are you involved. Like that's not fair.
[00:42:34] Speaker A: Cut it out.
What was the other thing I was gonna say? Oh, there was a several points during this match where I thought Kevin Knight had it in the bag.
[00:42:42] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:42:43] Speaker C: No without it. Well and that's the.
He. Yeah he beat Darby which was very much like surprise win. Like it just.
[00:42:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:52] Speaker C: We were talking earlier with Okada unpack. Like the nice thing is it's really up in the air who's going to win these matches. Everything feel. Very little of it feels like okay, it's gonna go this way. There's no like Jay Lethal in this tournament where it's like that's the pin eater as much like you.
Anybody could win anything.
[00:43:09] Speaker B: Both of these contestants super like really shown like I Fletcher was a great brought like great energy.
Love his heel gimmick. Love his taunts.
Kevin, his arm bar off the from the apron was just sick. Like the. The air he got. I like I wanted.
I loved both of them.
[00:43:35] Speaker C: I was just shocked how much Kevin three springboard clotheslines. Yeah.
[00:43:40] Speaker B: Like he did.
[00:43:41] Speaker C: He has three springboard clotheslines through this match. Each one is crazier than the like every time I am still gassed at what this man is doing.
[00:43:50] Speaker A: Yeah. Every time he does it he gets higher and it's just like what the dude, stop it sense.
[00:43:57] Speaker C: I love he does the like the no hands hurt karana on people when they. He gets them up on the top and he just jumps up and grabs him with his feet.
[00:44:05] Speaker A: Just what the.
What was one of the other was this the match where he like he.
[00:44:11] Speaker B: Teased the UFO splash. He didn't do it.
[00:44:14] Speaker A: He teased it but he. He almost we'll get to the end but no there's A Was this the one where Fletcher was on the apron standing and he like just like ran and like just kind of like swung himself over the top rope and grabbed him for like a DDT onto the apron? Oh, yeah.
[00:44:34] Speaker C: And then, yeah, Spike dd's him onto the apron.
[00:44:37] Speaker A: Yeah, like, and it goes to the floor and just like, like, just what, what the.
Like, Kevin Knight was just that. That kid's got something else, man. Like, wow.
[00:44:50] Speaker C: Like, Kyle Fletcher has one of the best, like running boots, like, kicks in the fucking industry. Like, he always looks like he is taking the other person's head off with it consistently.
[00:45:00] Speaker A: That was another thing too with this, this match. This whole night too is. This was the night of like the Continental classics. Like, no, we're actually, we're actually fighting to see who has the best drop kick.
Yeah.
And that's really going.
[00:45:13] Speaker C: Kevin Knight is one of the few people in wrestling I will put against Okada's drop K. Like, I think they're. I think it's like 1a and 1b.
[00:45:22] Speaker A: Just nuts. He. He just thought the, the height, the height that he gets is just.
[00:45:30] Speaker C: New Japan commentary would always say whenever he do it must be the shoes. It's got to be the shoes. It doesn't make any sense.
[00:45:37] Speaker A: That's funny.
[00:45:38] Speaker C: Yeah, Kevin does. He gets up, he goes for that UFO splash, but Kyle knocks his legs out on him.
[00:45:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:45:44] Speaker C: Kevin gets Kyle up into the trio woe and hits the big coast to coast drop kick.
It looks so good. Like some people you see it done and it's like the other person got asked to like be out and it just doesn't look like it really. It kind of looks like it brushes them, but kind of so big and he jumps so high that he genuinely like takes their head off with it from across the ring.
[00:46:07] Speaker A: What is what a setup for the UFO splash? Like, I don't know, like, like, I think I talked about it when he hit it on Darby last week where I was like, that was.
Do that. Like when we're talking about sequences.
If you can hit that consistent, like, that's a great, that's a great setup sequence.
[00:46:24] Speaker C: Like, yeah, that's a great signature spot.
[00:46:26] Speaker A: Little signature spot to hit up your finisher. Like.
[00:46:29] Speaker C: Yeah, that's why I like this finish here is because that's how he won the match last week was he hit that coast to coast. He hit the UFO this time Kyle gets the knees up. He had him scouted from having seen it before and turns it into a roll up and then they just do a Crazy series of near falls. Like, just big move after big move.
[00:46:47] Speaker A: Back and forth, back and forth.
[00:46:49] Speaker C: I couldn't even keep track of it. Kyle gets Kevin, like up in that corner at one point and hits him with that again, too.
[00:46:55] Speaker A: Yeah, he hits him with the boot again. But also like, I thought he was going to try to hit the brain Buster on the turnbuckle.
[00:47:03] Speaker C: Yeah, I thought they were building to that.
Which he usually.
[00:47:07] Speaker A: Yeah, he usually, like, he pulls that out when he's like. That's like a why won't you die? Move. Yeah, like, why won't you just moving.
[00:47:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:47:22] Speaker A: No, but no, he put him down with the regular one. And yeah, it's a hell. It's a hell of a finisher because he's got pretty brain buster.
[00:47:28] Speaker C: That's one. I. I really hope they run this match back at some point. Like, I would love to see that at least one or two more. Give them like a good half hour to just do like crazy.
It's been talking about a lot, but they. These are two guys who are very much the future of the company. They are who you need to be investing in because they are young and incredible and getting over like.
[00:47:52] Speaker A: Them and them and like speedball and like, yeah, that's definitely this next up and coming generation of aw. How wild is it? The AW is old enough that they got a new generation, right?
[00:48:05] Speaker B: Wow. Yeah, that's.
[00:48:06] Speaker A: That's pretty wild.
[00:48:07] Speaker C: Yeah. It's been 25 years since the Monday night wars. We're all dying slowly.
[00:48:13] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:48:16] Speaker B: Finally died off.
[00:48:17] Speaker A: There's officially. It happened.
It happened a while ago. Hampter. But like, there's act. There's officially been more dynamites than nitros.
[00:48:28] Speaker C: Good. Eric Bischoff crying in his bathtub, right?
[00:48:32] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, good.
But the flippy.
[00:48:36] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You could have had it, bro, but you didn't. You gave it all up for Hogan. GGs.
[00:48:48] Speaker B: Sit down.
[00:48:49] Speaker A: Subsection 32, brother.
[00:48:53] Speaker A: I got Creed Troll, but no, AAW.
[00:48:55] Speaker C: Is gonna be closed down in a month. Like, everyone's that, no, it's gonna fail.
[00:48:59] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, it's gonna fail.
[00:49:01] Speaker C: No, they telling me everything. People have been saying it's gonna die every six months since it started.
[00:49:07] Speaker B: Amazing.
[00:49:08] Speaker C: Yeah. Like we said, don't book for them. Book for me.
[00:49:12] Speaker A: Look for me specifically and give me more Fletcher versus.
Because that was a banger and a half.
[00:49:19] Speaker B: Like, Jesus drew a little flames on my notes.
[00:49:24] Speaker C: I genuinely was thinking. I was like, okay, if am's watching some AEW for the first time, this is a good representation of like the best of what this company is. It's matches like that.
[00:49:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:49:36] Speaker C: Like, it's not a per. It's not a perfect company. There's stuff that's not great, but you know, when it hits, it hits.
[00:49:43] Speaker A: I want to check in though, with.
Since I rescued you from the daily motion feed of 90s grabs.
You remember though, I used to say that the. The women, Japanese women, the Joshi wrestlers that we watched.
[00:49:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:50:00] Speaker A: Basically, like watch them and that's what modern wrestling is. Was I wrong?
[00:50:05] Speaker C: It's all ripped off from them.
[00:50:06] Speaker B: No.
[00:50:07] Speaker A: Yeah. All of this stuff is the stuff that they were. They were doing on Nitro. And so here's the thing.
[00:50:13] Speaker B: Like in like Eric Bischoff had it at his fingertips. He had a great little cruiserweight to division. And it's.
[00:50:26] Speaker C: Satamoro was on Nitro as like rookie. And they were just like, oh, we can't do anything with this person. Get out of here.
[00:50:34] Speaker B: Because NWO takes off, he loses his mind and wants to get like. It's telling that the NWO comes in and grabs all these titles except for the cruiserweight because they don't really give a.
[00:50:45] Speaker A: They don't give a.
[00:50:46] Speaker B: And the.
[00:50:47] Speaker C: Did they not have it on six at some point?
[00:50:49] Speaker A: They. They put it on. They eventually put it on six.
[00:50:52] Speaker C: I know.
[00:50:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:50:53] Speaker C: Down the line.
[00:50:54] Speaker B: But yeah, I guess nobody cares about that Flippy. But like, this is. This is the F. Yeah.
[00:51:01] Speaker C: Nobody cares about Sean Walman.
[00:51:05] Speaker B: He's not gonna follow it. Fumble your bag like you did. Eric, like people learn.
[00:51:12] Speaker C: But no, it's the same. It is very true. He had the luchadors. He had like the cool. It was basically all the. He stole from ecw and then he would stick that at the start of the card so then he could play with his big boy toys in the main event. And yeah. Go to like 15 minute matches that end in a DQ with like no real moves.
[00:51:29] Speaker B: Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Dean Malinko has these. Yeah. Psychosis. He has all these great.
[00:51:37] Speaker C: Genuinely. WCW had the best like wrestling for a period, but it was only too.
[00:51:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:51:46] Speaker A: For like most of the run. That's where I don't love Nitro. Yeah.
[00:51:53] Speaker C: WCW is why I love skeletons.
[00:51:55] Speaker A: Like WCW is why I love Lucha. Is what I found is like I went. Because I went back and watched all that in real and saw all that stuff for the first time and I was like, oh, wow. There this was on tv.
[00:52:09] Speaker C: Yeah. When I was first, like getting back into wrestling, I remember watching Eddie vs Ray at Halloween Havoc, like going back And I was like, oh, this is what I like. This is.
[00:52:19] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:52:19] Speaker C: That's my kind of wrestling right there.
[00:52:21] Speaker A: That's still my. That's still my top.
[00:52:25] Speaker A: It might be like my top three.
[00:52:28] Speaker C: Like, was he in the. Was he in like the.
The Phantom? Yeah, I knew it was some kind purple phantom suit.
[00:52:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:52:34] Speaker C: Yep, it was.
[00:52:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:52:35] Speaker C: That looks awesome.
[00:52:36] Speaker A: More skulls. Yeah, it's.
[00:52:38] Speaker C: Honestly, it's crazy though, that Ray is still going today and really is about as good as he was like. Yeah, he's.
[00:52:45] Speaker B: Ray was like a fetus when he started wrestling.
And ye.
[00:52:50] Speaker C: Yeah, he started wrestling at 12 and he's like 50 something now. I think his son is like, NF is higher up the card than he is.
[00:52:58] Speaker A: Yeah, his son is killing it too.
[00:53:00] Speaker C: God, I don't watch w. I don't watch wwe, but I love me some dirty Dom.
[00:53:05] Speaker A: Like, I. Yeah, occasionally I'll check in just to see how Dom's doing.
[00:53:10] Speaker C: He has a horrible enough mustache. I can't help but love him.
He's. He's.
[00:53:15] Speaker A: He's. Is his.
[00:53:17] Speaker C: His dad.
[00:53:18] Speaker A: He's throwing it out.
[00:53:19] Speaker C: Dead father differentiated himself.
He could have a guy in. He could have been a guy in a mask. He could have been a traditional luchador. But he actually, like, came up with a character and like. Like a interesting skee.
[00:53:30] Speaker A: He. He did it right. He listened to the crowd and. And. And was like, what, what?
[00:53:35] Speaker C: What?
[00:53:35] Speaker A: What's gonna get me over do that?
[00:53:37] Speaker C: Like, we are really talk about every company except aew.
[00:53:41] Speaker A: Well, we. We've gone off on a bit of a tangent, folks. It's fine.
[00:53:45] Speaker C: Yeah, let's hop back. Don.
[00:53:51] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:53:52] Speaker C: Yep.
Gets in the ring with a mic, says he has something important. He says he wants to say to the young buzz. But first he wants to hear how Kyle Fletcher is doing. He asked how he's doing. Kyle says, not great.
Which one's better?
I almost. Okay. This ended up being kind of weird. It's like Hechisero and Josh come out with big bags and they go to commercial while they're all in the ring together. Like, Don is in the middle of talking.
I almost wonder if Kyle was supposed to cut a promo, but maybe he got, like, kind of winded or like, not the wind knocked out.
[00:54:24] Speaker B: He was holding his jaw, like, even.
[00:54:26] Speaker C: Yeah, I think he might have got a little rocked or something. And they had to, like, scramble and let Don get heat for a few minutes before they could kind of like, get things going again.
[00:54:37] Speaker B: Don Callis in his accessories gives big labia energy to just the Pink.
The lenses, the watch face, the shoes. I was like, dawn.
And then. And Ella was like, wow. We call him Dick Slit Jones.
[00:54:54] Speaker C: Yeah, because.
[00:54:57] Speaker A: Yeah. And Hampter's like, no, no, he's more labial.
[00:55:02] Speaker A: Like, what the.
[00:55:03] Speaker B: Why not? A little bit. Both.
[00:55:05] Speaker C: He's like a walking Georgia o' Keefe painting. Like.
[00:55:08] Speaker B: Yeah, a little bit, except with the dick slick instead of, like, a clitoris. Like, yeah.
[00:55:16] Speaker C: This HR Geiger meets.
[00:55:19] Speaker C: Very callous. He does have a half of a.
[00:55:23] Speaker A: Xenomorph Palace Flower Jones over here.
[00:55:26] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:55:27] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:55:30] Speaker B: Personally, I blame him. I blame Canada.
[00:55:33] Speaker A: Oh, why not?
[00:55:34] Speaker C: It's always a good move. Yeah.
[00:55:36] Speaker A: Yeah. You listen to that man talk. Jesus Christ. And a lot of people did for the entire commercial.
Because we came back from commercial and he was still vamping. I was like, that poor crowd.
[00:55:47] Speaker C: Yeah. And like, Kyle never does. Kyle never does talk. He's, like, sitting up on the turnbuckle during this.
[00:55:53] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I think he was like. I think he had a rough match. I think he got it, like, literally.
[00:55:59] Speaker C: Only words he said were not great.
[00:56:05] Speaker A: Even if it was just cave, babe, I'm fine with that. It's like, put over, like, sell.
Not selling the match. Sell the match. He's like, I'm sorry.
[00:56:13] Speaker C: I just.
[00:56:13] Speaker A: Just barely survived that Continental Classic match. Did you see that?
[00:56:18] Speaker B: Did you see Kevin Knight? Did you see that?
[00:56:21] Speaker A: Guy did a whole 180 in the air, and I just barely got my knees up. Don, Jesus.
You and your dick slit. Talk to this crowd for a while. I'm gonna go sit over here.
[00:56:32] Speaker C: God, get heat. Talk about how the Celtics suck for a few minutes or something. I need to breathe.
[00:56:37] Speaker A: Yeah, I need to breathe. Speak Spanish poorly. They like that.
[00:56:42] Speaker C: I don't know what it. The Pacers. That's Indiana.
[00:56:44] Speaker A: Yeah, There you go. Why not?
[00:56:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:56:47] Speaker A: Sports Sprott.
[00:56:48] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. Don says he does want to talk about the bucks now. So he says he can forgive a lot of things and lists off a bunch of transgressions, including.
He says that he can forgive killing somebody, and he has forgiven somebody for that before, which is kind of a weird thing to throw out on national television.
[00:57:07] Speaker A: Okay, Don, maybe you should be laying low.
[00:57:13] Speaker C: Yo, like, what position were you in to forgive? Who did the person, kid? Was it like, your sister or something? Like.
[00:57:23] Speaker B: As a blue sky lawyer, I believe that makes you an accessory after the fact.
[00:57:28] Speaker A: Now, everyone in that arena.
[00:57:32] Speaker C: If it happened in Canada, then it's a whole jurisdiction thing. He's safe. Yeah, they don't have murder up there. They just have Stern talking to.
[00:57:41] Speaker A: They have oopsie dos. Yeah.
[00:57:45] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. Says he can forgive all of that, but he can't forgive siding with Kenny Omega.
[00:57:51] Speaker C: Says he, he has the young bucks money and he points to the bags that Josh and Hetzer came out with.
[00:57:59] Speaker A: Yeah, it's the Halliburton.
[00:58:00] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. Because they won that.
[00:58:04] Speaker C: And they. The young boss sided with Kenny. So the Don Callis family stole their share of the million bucks.
[00:58:09] Speaker A: I don't think that's how that works. But they did it anyways.
[00:58:13] Speaker C: Yeah. Yes. I'm just like, Tony Khan. You were running them. Use checks, direct deposit. Stop giving people giant duffel bags of cash like your Scarface. Like, yeah.
[00:58:24] Speaker A: Also like, how. What is this tax evasion that you're doing on the television? Why is it, like, are you trying to avoid a page?
[00:58:32] Speaker C: They're just like, tony, we can't do. He's like, but it's a great crap.
[00:58:35] Speaker A: Like, yeah, but it looks great.
Just get a giant check.
Oh, no. You can't even.
[00:58:44] Speaker B: Try and, like, fold it in half.
[00:58:46] Speaker C: You can use it as a weapon, like crack it over people's heads. And paper cuts.
Oh, that would be great. Open the mouth up and paper cut them through the.
With that.
[00:58:57] Speaker A: Like they did in Jackass.
[00:58:59] Speaker C: I think it was the first Jackass movie. Yeah, no, I've seen wrestlers do that too, with flyers and stuff like that. Oh, when I saw it had, like, a vinyl. I can't remember who it was. They had a vinyl record and they did that to somebody's mouth in a death match that I watched.
This is pushing my limits.
[00:59:17] Speaker C: It was all, you know, it was obviously didn't split their mouths open like goddamn spawn.
[00:59:24] Speaker A: Yeah.
No, no, no. I'm so sad now. Anyways, Death match. I like death match, but I gotta be in a mood. Apparently, I'm not in the mood.
[00:59:35] Speaker C: I think they're fun.
[00:59:37] Speaker A: Speaking of death matches.
[00:59:38] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:59:39] Speaker A: Well, wait. No, we have to finish.
[00:59:41] Speaker C: Yeah. Don tells the yucks to get their nuts to drop or find their nuts. Or nuts. I didn't write it down.
[00:59:49] Speaker A: Something.
How did I put it when we were watching this?
[00:59:52] Speaker B: Sounds like. Tell us.
[00:59:53] Speaker A: This smacks of gender. Yeah, yeah.
[00:59:59] Speaker A: Like, shut up, Don. You smack of gender.
[01:00:03] Speaker C: Yeah. Come down and fight for their money. And the York bucks, do they come out. They hit super kicks on a bunch of people.
[01:00:10] Speaker B: Party.
[01:00:11] Speaker C: Yeah, it's inside. As a finisher, everybody stays down forever afterwards. It isn't.
[01:00:16] Speaker A: Yeah, no, they all died. Yeah.
[01:00:18] Speaker C: No, they all really hate them for that. Like, when they were first coming up in like the mid-20s people hated the Bucks way they did.
[01:00:27] Speaker A: Like you think we're being like kind of silly about it? Probably.
[01:00:30] Speaker C: No, they would do it like I watched a Ring of Honor match where Steve Carino counts like. And they do like 40. They did like 43 of them in the match or something like that because.
[01:00:42] Speaker A: But they did it. They did that because people loved it and because it pissed off all the best.
[01:00:49] Speaker C: If this like you were saying with the veterans and you know, like Eddie. Yeah.
[01:00:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:00:57] Speaker C: That's why they're the young Bucks because they were the young new guys doing these big like spot heavy matches that they. They have. Their book is called Killing the business because everyone accused them of killing wrestling because they just were very like flippy and do. Yeah.
[01:01:10] Speaker A: Super kicks that didn't keep people down.
[01:01:12] Speaker C: It wasn't supposed to be realistic. It was supposed to just be nuts.
[01:01:17] Speaker A: It's supposed to be nuts and fun. Yeah. Like.
And like. Yeah. I. I've never been a huge Bucks fan, but I gotta give him respect as just as my. That is so my general.
If someone's like, God, you do this too much. I'm like, oh my God, I'm gonna do it like four times as much now.
[01:01:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
Do you have any idea how many super kicks.
[01:01:46] Speaker C: It's silly. They were. They were right. They're millionaires now. They started the second biggest wrestling company in the country. They are behind.
[01:01:54] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:01:55] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:01:55] Speaker A: They own.
[01:01:55] Speaker C: They not only didn't kill the business, it kind of saved the business.
[01:01:59] Speaker A: Yeah, they really did. They. They literally saved the business.
[01:02:02] Speaker C: I really hope no like fat heads listen to this podcast because me saying that will give me death threats. Probably.
[01:02:08] Speaker A: I hope they do and they can bring it on. Get in line.
[01:02:12] Speaker C: Please direct. Direct all death threats to the Monday night fake fights Blue sky.
[01:02:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:02:22] Speaker C: Death threats email off to the side that you can send them directly to. Post it on the Patreon. You spend the four bucks. You can have the death threat email.
[01:02:31] Speaker B: Wait a minute. Okay.
[01:02:33] Speaker A: Come to central Minneapolis and find the abandoned theater that we record in, you know, and. And we'll fight there.
[01:02:40] Speaker B: We need to up our rates. It's $50 for the death threat email.
[01:02:45] Speaker A: Breaking KFAB. It's not a real place anyways.
[01:02:51] Speaker C: I don't give a.
[01:02:53] Speaker A: Like no Hampton.
[01:02:54] Speaker C: Never mind.
[01:02:55] Speaker A: We're totally recording an actual big empty feeder right now. Okay.
[01:02:59] Speaker C: There's a giant egg that you came out of.
[01:03:01] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. We're not. We. I forgot. We can't break K favor on hampter.
They could bury a upset.
[01:03:07] Speaker B: I Do no punished hampter arc.
[01:03:12] Speaker A: Yeah. No punished hampter arc.
[01:03:14] Speaker C: No.
The bucks do get their money back. And Okada sneaks in and rainmakers Matt Jackson.
He catches them with the short arm clothesline. Nick goes to kick him. Okada catches Nick foot for the rest of the family to run and attack them.
[01:03:32] Speaker C: Yeah.
The books are old friends. So there is some like wait behind this. They were just, you know, faction together in the elite and all that. And they go back.
Okada always steals Nick Jackson's gear and puts it on, which is always a fun time.
[01:03:47] Speaker C: We get the Jurassic express coming out for a save.
They do Jack does that really cool. Like escalera. Like moonsault where holds his hand. Gets him up there.
Oh, it's so smooth. Luke Perry's boy can fly.
[01:04:01] Speaker B: I love that they held hands.
[01:04:03] Speaker C: I was like, yeah.
[01:04:05] Speaker B: And with a dinosaur.
[01:04:06] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:04:07] Speaker A: A man in his dinosaur.
[01:04:08] Speaker C: A boy and his dinosaur. A man and his monster. We love.
[01:04:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
I love them. I'm so happy that they're heal.
[01:04:15] Speaker C: I like them back as faces. It's fun.
[01:04:17] Speaker A: I like Whitland Jack. Folks like the on Jack Perry. And I've never been.
I just. I'm sorry. I love Jack Perry. I'm never going to not love Jack Perry.
[01:04:29] Speaker C: And he's a very good wrestler. He is very. He is. He's very athletic. He does cool stuff. It looks really solid.
[01:04:37] Speaker A: People who I otherwise like on say he can't wrestle. I'm like, what are you talking about?
[01:04:44] Speaker C: I liked him for the fun 10 years he's been so good.
[01:04:47] Speaker A: Like, did you not see the breakup? The breakup cage match that he had with luchasaurus. That was awesome.
[01:04:57] Speaker B: I hear. I think they assume it's Luke Perry's son. And so it's just like Nepo all the way.
[01:05:02] Speaker A: Oh, no. And that's just.
[01:05:04] Speaker C: But that's one of the cool. Like for the longest time he did not go by the name Jack Perry. He was for when he came up on the Indies. He only worked as Jungle Boy was his name. And he had his Tarzan gimmick and like that.
[01:05:15] Speaker A: Because he specifically didn't want that.
[01:05:17] Speaker C: Yeah.
Though everybody knew who he was. So it's like how much affected that. Yeah. It wasn't a secret that that's Jack Perry's kid, you know, like.
[01:05:27] Speaker A: But in like from my understanding, like, his dad was super supportive. Oh yeah.
[01:05:32] Speaker C: No, Lou Perry loved wrestling. There's a clip of him in the front front row of raw back in like early 2000s or something with a little boy Jack. Like 10 year old Jack Barry is with Luke Barry in the front row. Raw together.
Yeah. It's an adorable fish. I'll try and find it, post it in the chat at some point.
[01:05:50] Speaker A: I would love that. Thank you, Jeff.
[01:05:52] Speaker C: Of course. Yeah. Okada does low blow Luchasaurus and then flips off Jack Perry and Jack Perry bites his middle finger, which is a great little.
[01:06:02] Speaker A: Yeah, that was so good.
[01:06:05] Speaker B: Any bites?
[01:06:07] Speaker C: Yep. Yes.
[01:06:08] Speaker A: Hampter likes that one who chews through all of our wires. Listen, I know I shouldn't have left you down there.
[01:06:17] Speaker B: It's a condition.
Get anxious.
[01:06:19] Speaker C: You gotta keep the teeth filed down or they keep growing.
[01:06:22] Speaker B: That's true. It's weird, but it's true.
[01:06:25] Speaker C: That's just science.
[01:06:28] Speaker B: Caretaking, right, Creator?
[01:06:31] Speaker A: Why?
[01:06:33] Speaker C: From one rodent, like creature to another. I understand.
[01:06:36] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. I'm outnumbered here.
[01:06:39] Speaker C: Yeah, no, you're the only human in this one. Yeah, yep. The program.
Help me.
[01:06:47] Speaker C: It's like the Disney version of Robin Hood in here.
[01:06:53] Speaker A: Except all the critters are just blazed.
[01:06:56] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:06:58] Speaker C: I feel like Little John in the Disney version. Oh, yeah, he was pretty good. Mostly because he's just Baloo the bear and Blue. The bear was definitely toasty.
[01:07:08] Speaker A: Yeah, Blue is toasty.
[01:07:10] Speaker B: He got that monkey. No, no, wait, wait, wait. Sorry. There was the fry.
[01:07:14] Speaker C: Yeah, he was. No, yeah, yeah. No. But the whole concept of the barren estate cities is essentially what happens when you smoke too much weed. Yeah, I'm just gonna float down a river. I don't give a scratch. My back on the tree. I don't need a job.
[01:07:31] Speaker A: Literally.
[01:07:33] Speaker C: This small child is my best friend.
[01:07:35] Speaker A: You're different species.
[01:07:40] Speaker C: It's not anything.
[01:07:42] Speaker A: No blues. That guy where it's like, it's gone too. Like, blue's the guy where it's like, hey, maybe you should like cut back.
[01:07:52] Speaker C: Maybe you should get like a part time job or something, man, you know, just.
[01:07:55] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just like I want myself a week, you know? Like, I love you, dude, but like, like, we're good. We're forever, you know?
But like, you need a job.
[01:08:06] Speaker B: You know, Everybody's kind of old. Whenever, when, like we're talking about. Even on our fantasies, talking about Blue the bear. They're like, yeah, you should get job, bro.
[01:08:14] Speaker C: You should get bro.
[01:08:16] Speaker B: Like, have you thought about health care? Like, we need your half of the rent, bro.
[01:08:22] Speaker C: That river is dirty. You're floating it.
[01:08:26] Speaker A: Oh, God. I'm starting to feel like I blew. Oh, no.
[01:08:28] Speaker C: We're so close to being done with this segment. I'm gonna jump.
[01:08:34] Speaker A: No, we Will tangent harder. Okay, go. No.
[01:08:36] Speaker B: Stop.
[01:08:37] Speaker C: No. Yeah. Don Callis gets in and he starts attacking the young bucks, punching on Matt. He goes for Nick and Kenny Omega's music comes out and Kenny comes in and he is wearing the best shirt ever of himself as it's a ugly sweater like pattern shirt of himself as Santa Claus holding a giant kitten. Like, I love this man. I love this man so much.
[01:09:02] Speaker A: I believe this is also JCP Designs.
[01:09:07] Speaker C: Yeah. Somebody on blue sky who. Who did it? I can't. That is their name. Yeah.
[01:09:14] Speaker A: Oh, I think does like all the graphics, I'm pretty sure for their. Their cheese.
[01:09:19] Speaker C: Oh, is that okay? Yeah.
[01:09:21] Speaker A: But yeah, they. They posted about it a while back and. Or when first came out and like, oh, excuse me. Holy crap. I kind of want some of those ugly Christmas sweaters.
[01:09:36] Speaker C: So.
[01:09:36] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:09:37] Speaker C: He clears house. Yeah. He goes. Kind of catches him. Goes for a rainmaker. Kenny turns into a Snapdragon. Kind of sets him up for the V trigger. But Okada rolls out and the Don Cows family is out.
It was a good.
Yeah. They do a. Better than video too.
[01:09:55] Speaker A: Oh yeah. I was gonna say better than a.
[01:09:57] Speaker C: Video package, but they do a good video package. Here it is the one about the Babes of Wrath and their history together.
[01:10:04] Speaker A: Yes. It's the first one.
[01:10:08] Speaker C: Yeah. And it was a solid one. They're very fun. They. They do have a history together. They. And those two are just like insanely watchable. They are so much fun together.
Harley Cameron is the most infectious.
[01:10:20] Speaker A: They're two of the most watchable people. Yeah.
[01:10:24] Speaker C: Just adorable.
[01:10:25] Speaker A: One of my favorite moments of all time is when Harley Cameron Hampter will oftentimes crash people's promos. Like slash interviews recently with a puppet.
Frequently with a puppet.
[01:10:38] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:10:40] Speaker A: And like she did it one time to Willow and like every everybody else.
[01:10:47] Speaker C: That she doesn't about it.
[01:10:49] Speaker A: Yeah. It's frustrated. And Willow is instantly just the most delighted.
Was just like, yes, Harley's here.
[01:10:58] Speaker B: That's so great. Oh my gosh.
[01:11:01] Speaker A: And I was like, oh.
So the way they.
[01:11:04] Speaker C: They're one of those where they were kind of a thrown together tag team. But they really like, they mesh so well that it's like, okay, this feels like real team.
[01:11:11] Speaker A: It really does. And then you think back of little things like that. It's like, no, those two are a perfect team to put together.
[01:11:19] Speaker C: It was a nice.
[01:11:20] Speaker B: I liked their energy together. I was like, oh, this is good.
[01:11:22] Speaker C: This is.
[01:11:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:11:24] Speaker A: They're just. They are everything that is good in a. In and together in a tag Team.
It's good.
[01:11:33] Speaker C: Yeah. It does lead us into our next match which is Megan Bane and Marina Shavir versus the timeless love bombs Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa. It is a women's tag team tournament semifinal match and a hardcore holiday death match.
[01:11:47] Speaker B: Where's Medusa? Sorry.
[01:11:51] Speaker A: Retired as.
[01:11:53] Speaker C: Yeah. Tony Storm does have a, A habit of calling out like old female wrestler. She had a. Usually.
[01:12:00] Speaker A: Was it Wendy?
[01:12:02] Speaker C: Yeah, she like feuded. One sided. Feuded. Called out Wendy Richter like 20 times. Like promos.
[01:12:10] Speaker A: God, that's one of my favorite Toni Storm bits. I forgot about that. Not even pro. That's the thing though. It's not even a promo. She would do it in the post pay per view media scrum.
[01:12:22] Speaker C: Talking to the press. She's like, I'm gonna get that, I'm.
[01:12:25] Speaker A: Gonna get that like, that language of like.
[01:12:28] Speaker C: Listen here again it's like she's been retired for seven years and she's dead.
[01:12:35] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:12:37] Speaker C: Her.
[01:12:39] Speaker A: Love her so much.
[01:12:42] Speaker C: They did. I love the, the timeless love bombs entrance we talked about before. But this time they're wearing like awesome like boiler suit jumpsuit looking things together which just juxtaposes with the like fun choreography so.
[01:12:55] Speaker A: Well, God, the choreography and the hair, they're just. God, they look.
[01:13:00] Speaker C: Oh, Mina's hair looked amazing this week. Like she's. They like the transition rainbow colors thing to it. It looks so cool.
Antonio always looks cool.
[01:13:11] Speaker B: Oh yeah.
[01:13:12] Speaker A: Naturally I was very excited for this match. But I think the one thing we can all agree on is that this was not. I think Erica said it while we were watching. This wasn't a death match. This was a hardcore match and that's fine.
Don't call it a death match if, if there's not going to be like turns out, we find out later mox levels of blood.
[01:13:44] Speaker A: And that. And that's probably why there wasn't.
[01:13:47] Speaker C: Because this was more a plunder match than anything else.
[01:13:50] Speaker A: Like yeah, this was a plunder. It was a garbage match. It was a plunder match. Yeah. It was all, all those various.
[01:13:56] Speaker C: It literally starts off with Tony Storm breaking a champagne bottle over me over Marina Shafir's head.
[01:14:02] Speaker A: God, that.
[01:14:04] Speaker A: That was so great.
Just wow up there.
[01:14:12] Speaker B: Whole thing goes from like 0 to 60 pretty quick.
[01:14:16] Speaker C: Yeah. There's no hesitation on this at all.
[01:14:19] Speaker B: It was very clear.
They were like, I'm gonna make you bleed.
[01:14:23] Speaker C: One of the like first props they bring out and they have to be a big part is a giant candy cane wrapped in barbed wire which is one I. That is A new one to me. I've never seen that before.
[01:14:33] Speaker A: It is the most gimmicked barbed wire ever. But that.
[01:14:37] Speaker C: Without a doubt.
[01:14:38] Speaker A: Yeah, visibly. So.
[01:14:42] Speaker B: I was nervous. I looked away a little bit, and then I looked back. I was like, that. Wait a. That's just wire.
[01:14:51] Speaker B: It's just like. Because I didn't want to.
[01:14:55] Speaker B: I was. I'm not used to seeing.
[01:15:01] Speaker A: Yeah, you're not. You haven't gotten to where. You haven't gotten to the point in the attitude era where it's, like, wet.
[01:15:09] Speaker A: Well, that's because it. You haven't gotten to Brett versus Austin at WrestleMania yet.
[01:15:14] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:15:15] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:15:15] Speaker C: That's one of the best matches ever.
[01:15:17] Speaker A: Let me know.
Let me know when you get there. We need to watch that one. Possibly. We can. We can do it with or without Mike.
[01:15:24] Speaker C: WrestleMania 1313, right?
[01:15:26] Speaker A: I believe. Yeah.
[01:15:29] Speaker A: I quit the. I quit match.
[01:15:32] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:15:33] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, that might be.
[01:15:34] Speaker C: That's the best match, that show, too.
[01:15:35] Speaker A: Yeah, that might be my favorite. That might be one of my favorite matches. That might be another top three.
[01:15:40] Speaker C: It is in the discussion for me. It's probably. It's definitely, like, top five or ten. Without a doubt.
[01:15:46] Speaker A: I know a lot of people who talk about it as, like.
Like the it. Well, it's saying it might be one of the most influential. Like, this is.
[01:15:56] Speaker C: It was definitely a change. It was a sea change moment.
[01:15:59] Speaker A: Yeah, it was a sea change. It was a match that changed it because, like, after that, I was like, oh, well, we gotta bleed now.
[01:16:06] Speaker C: And that's where, like, Stone Cold really kind of, like, came into being Stone Cold.
[01:16:10] Speaker A: Yeah, because he was.
[01:16:12] Speaker C: But that's where he was like.
[01:16:13] Speaker A: Because he never said it. He never said it.
[01:16:17] Speaker C: Don't.
[01:16:17] Speaker A: Anyways, no spoiling. Anyway. No spoiling.
[01:16:20] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:16:21] Speaker A: For. Again, 30.
[01:16:22] Speaker C: He never said I love you.
[01:16:24] Speaker A: It was never said I love you. And now it's too late.
[01:16:27] Speaker C: It haunts him to this day.
[01:16:28] Speaker B: See, the best part about this is that I'll just forget. And then when I finally see it, I'll be the best part away.
[01:16:35] Speaker A: Love this about you.
[01:16:37] Speaker C: Nice thing about high podcasting is I have no idea what happens during these. I listen back, I'm like, oh, yeah, that is. We did talk about that.
[01:16:43] Speaker A: Here. Have a sl.
[01:16:49] Speaker B: Immediately snaps it over open.
[01:16:55] Speaker A: I missed podcasting with you after so much.
[01:16:58] Speaker C: This is very good.
[01:17:01] Speaker C: I like Marina's. She does the 619, where she catches them in a head scissors and then spikes their head onto the mat. And it's really cool. Like, that's a nice variation of that. Move.
[01:17:12] Speaker A: Holy sh. And it's. She tries it a lot. It doesn't always look that she's been better about.
[01:17:18] Speaker C: Yeah, she's been getting good. I've been watching her defy matches where she's the champion and, like, she's gotten much better at, like, the execution of.
[01:17:26] Speaker A: A lot of stuff because it's such a great idea. And I've seen her do it a few times where I'm like, oh, like that.
[01:17:33] Speaker C: If that worked, that'd be great.
[01:17:35] Speaker A: Yeah, if that worked, it would be great. And then, like last night, I was like, oh, that worked like that. I see what I finally see the. The vision all the way here. And I'm into it.
[01:17:46] Speaker A: There's so many spots. It was a spot heavy match, but I like.
[01:17:51] Speaker C: Marina gets a frying pan at one point.
[01:17:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:17:53] Speaker B: There's a frying pan folding chair going.
[01:17:56] Speaker C: Old school honeymooners on their ass, like.
[01:17:59] Speaker A: Well, because there was presents and, you know, she opens up because it's a golden folding chair that gets thrown in Tony's face and like.
[01:18:06] Speaker C: Yeah. Megan's was literally like a dress. It was during the commercial break. I think it's. Gio picked it up. It says to Megan.
[01:18:13] Speaker C: It'S like. That was cute.
[01:18:16] Speaker A: It was very. It was very adorable. Oh, this was very cute.
It's.
How did you.
Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Luther Claus. I forgot.
[01:18:26] Speaker C: Yeah. The return of Luther was a fantastic moment.
[01:18:29] Speaker A: Yeah. So much I missed him. Luther is death match legend, man servant, death match legend in his own right. Dr. Luther delivered a shoe.
[01:18:42] Speaker A: But he brought out, like, it would. He brought out a box, which ended up being the red herring because he go, like, goes to give it to. I think Marina.
[01:18:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:18:53] Speaker C: Pulls the box away. He's just flipping around.
[01:18:55] Speaker A: He just shut. Yeah. Shoves his. His hand through the box and flips her and like, quietly delivers a shoe to Tony, who of course, uses it.
[01:19:08] Speaker C: And it's the win, too.
[01:19:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:19:11] Speaker C: Our final is going to be the timeless love bombs versus the caves of brass. We're gonna have a face first face final for this, which.
[01:19:20] Speaker C: I'm happy with either of these teams winning. I really would be very.
[01:19:27] Speaker C: Loose then. Yeah. And all four of them hold the.
[01:19:29] Speaker B: Belts all the way.
[01:19:30] Speaker C: Yeah.
I think they'd be my preference because then again, and this is some, like, storyline stuff, I would really like to see Willow be the one to take the belt off Chris Statlander just because of their story and stuff. I think if you give the bell to timeless love bombs, you can free up Willow to go for some ziggler but depending on how long you want to keep the belt on stat, you could do that down the road, too. And so. But yeah, either way, I'm very excited for this final. I think it's gonna be a great match, no matter.
[01:19:57] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm just. As soon as I saw it, I was like, yeah.
[01:20:03] Speaker C: Oh.
[01:20:06] Speaker A: The realization of, like, well, what do I now? Who do I cheer for?
[01:20:10] Speaker C: During the divorce, you got to pick which parent you want the one you never get to see again.
[01:20:17] Speaker B: Wow.
[01:20:18] Speaker A: That's a little too close to home.
[01:20:20] Speaker C: Oh, weird.
[01:20:22] Speaker B: Selfie's choice.
[01:20:23] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:20:24] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[01:20:26] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:20:27] Speaker A: Don't make me. Don't make me.
[01:20:32] Speaker C: We do get another video package. It's a little recap one for the Triangle of Madness, their feud with the Statlander, Jamie Hayter. And they do a little, like, backstage interview with Jamie and stat and set up. They're gonna do them in a tag match versus the Sisters in Sin and Cardiff, Wales. And is that next week or something like that. And then Jamie kind of in first. She's gonna go for the belt after that, which, if they do that run, that'll be cool stuff. And they go backstage again to where the Dark Order is walking down the hallway talking about their trio shot, and Hangman comes up all wrapped in his chain. Basically, the Dark Order asks him not to interfere and ruin their chance of getting the shot. Hangman agrees, but says as soon as the match is over, the Ops are his.
[01:21:16] Speaker A: Man.
[01:21:17] Speaker C: I like the Dark Order. I knew nothing was going to come of this.
[01:21:22] Speaker A: Yes. But. But I'm always happy to see Evil Uno and again, I love evil.
A knight of short kings.
[01:21:30] Speaker C: Yeah. John Silver is back on tv. Yeah.
[01:21:33] Speaker A: Johnny Hunky on my TV is. Is always good for me.
[01:21:39] Speaker A: I love him so. And he's so small.
It is, but also swole. He's small and swole.
[01:21:45] Speaker C: He's intensely. You know, we were talking. Yeah. If we were talking about, like, Pat Pock being the shortest, thickest, Johnny Hungby might have him beat on, like, the density scale. He is, I think, smaller and thicker.
[01:21:58] Speaker B: Yes, he certainly. Yeah. He is shorter. Because we looked it up.
[01:22:03] Speaker C: I think we looked it.
I was gonna say something like that. Yeah.
[01:22:07] Speaker A: Huggy is five four and Pac was five six. I think.
[01:22:12] Speaker C: Yeah, that sounds about right. Yeah.
[01:22:14] Speaker B: Or five eight.
[01:22:15] Speaker A: Yeah, I think five, five, eight. Yeah.
Pac was your height, I think.
[01:22:21] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:22:22] Speaker A: Yeah, whatever.
[01:22:23] Speaker C: You.
[01:22:23] Speaker B: No.
[01:22:24] Speaker A: Oh, no. Johnny. Johnny.
[01:22:27] Speaker C: Yeah. I have to say, I didn't think you were 5 8. I could have done wrong, but. Yeah.
[01:22:31] Speaker B: I pray.
[01:22:33] Speaker A: I pray I pray. I see. I see what you've done for other hampters.
[01:22:38] Speaker B: Yeah. I wish it was a little bit taller.
[01:22:43] Speaker A: I wish I was a possum baller.
[01:22:45] Speaker B: Yeah, this was a baller.
[01:22:50] Speaker C: We do have another back. We've got a few backstage segments here. We've got.
And Mercedes and Renee says that they haven't seen Mercedes since she was unsuccessful at full gear. And Mercedes get all mad. So he talks about all the successes she's had.
Basically that's just a. This is just a promo match because Mercedes is facing Red Velvet for the TV or the women's TV title in Ring of Honor because there's so many looking belts at final battle. Which will be fun. She also.
Ring of Honor TV this week. Yeah, they're doing like three Ring of Honor shows this week. I'm gonna watch the pay per view tomorrow. I don't have it.
The online exclusive ones. I. There's only so many hours a day and I watch seven promotions.
[01:23:33] Speaker A: Unfortunately, I've run out of the ability to watch any more wrestling than I already already do.
[01:23:39] Speaker C: I miss movies.
[01:23:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:23:44] Speaker C: I do it to myself. I do love it. But anyway, yeah, there's next video package. It's ftr and they're talking about winning the Bells at full Gear in their feud with the Bang Bang Gang. They got big dope with them. Yeah. Really. I still hate that faction name. Yeah, I understand. They, they, they can't be both anymore.
Yeah. But it's just.
[01:24:05] Speaker A: Why can't they be Bullet Club Gold anymore? Just.
[01:24:08] Speaker C: I, there's got to be a reason. Like there has to be a reason they stopped calling themselves that. I'm sure New Japan finally stepped in. It was like there's like seven bullet clubs. We gotta put a stop to this.
[01:24:19] Speaker A: Fair enough. I, I like Bang Bang Gang. And it makes sense because it's the combination of the Gun Club and the Bullet Club.
[01:24:26] Speaker C: Yeah, I get it. It just. It sounds like something a bunch of little kids would make up for. The cowboy villains in their make believe game.
[01:24:33] Speaker A: Like.
Yeah, the. Yeah, the Bullet Club and the Gun Club.
That's what I'm saying.
[01:24:40] Speaker B: So you mean what happened?
[01:24:41] Speaker A: You mean Juice Robinson in the Gun Club?
Jay White. Yeah, exactly.
[01:24:48] Speaker C: If Erica could say she doesn't like Rodito, I could say yeah. And I love them as wrestling.
[01:24:56] Speaker B: Sometimes it just ain't that deep. Sometimes you just don't like it.
[01:25:00] Speaker C: Like.
[01:25:02] Speaker C: I just don't hit my ears. Right, right.
[01:25:05] Speaker A: Wise words.
[01:25:08] Speaker A: Doesn't just say that.
[01:25:11] Speaker A: Amazing.
[01:25:12] Speaker C: This is a. This is just another setup match. The Band gang. Gang has been feuding with ftr. They've been doing stuff on Collision. Cash just basically talks a bunch of on them. Dax called Juice a walk behind her and a bag holder, which I thought was actually pretty good insult to say to a wrestler.
[01:25:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:25:30] Speaker C: You are the guy who. You're the guy who comes out in the back of the fat. You are the Buff Bagwell. You are the.
I'm trying to think calves.
[01:25:42] Speaker C: The Horace Hogan. Yeah. The person who's in the back when the faction comes out.
[01:25:45] Speaker B: Wow.
[01:25:48] Speaker B: I understand that reference.
[01:25:51] Speaker A: Yo.
[01:25:51] Speaker C: Yep. Rip.
Yeah.
[01:25:54] Speaker A: Meat sauce, baby. Meat sauce.
[01:25:56] Speaker C: Yep. I just want some meat. We do get. We are off to the Dark order versus the Ops, which is.
[01:26:02] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:26:02] Speaker C: Hook and Shibata.
[01:26:04] Speaker A: How. How did I put it last night? Hampter. Hey, it wasn't a squash.
[01:26:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:26:09] Speaker C: It was a semi squash.
[01:26:11] Speaker A: It was almost.
It was. It was pretty much a squad.
[01:26:16] Speaker C: It would have been like the semi main event on a raw from the 90s, but in this age, it's a squash. Like.
[01:26:23] Speaker A: Yeah, that's funny. Holy Jeff, that was hilarious. That's exactly right.
[01:26:29] Speaker C: Yeah. Because literally the only person who really gets any offense, Evil Uno gets a hot tag. Yeah, he runs wild for like a minute or two.
[01:26:40] Speaker A: It was there.
[01:26:41] Speaker C: He did.
Yeah. And he does face off with Hobbs and he chops the out of Hobbs.
[01:26:46] Speaker A: And like he got the ever loving slammed out of them. World's strongest slammed.
[01:26:52] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:26:53] Speaker A: Real hard.
[01:26:54] Speaker B: So who did Hobbs slam against the apron?
[01:26:59] Speaker C: Oh, I think that was Alex Reynolds. I think.
Yeah. Because that's what a signature Spotify is lately. It's brutal looking dude.
[01:27:07] Speaker B: I mean, like, Reynolds was out for the rest of the match. He never got.
[01:27:11] Speaker A: Yeah, he never came back.
That's a good point.
[01:27:14] Speaker C: He just got taken right out.
[01:27:18] Speaker A: Gets the apron and just throws them away. Just like.
Like, I'm done with you.
[01:27:25] Speaker B: But I didn't know who of the trio got slammed and I was like, okay, well wait till he gets back in the.
The ring.
[01:27:33] Speaker C: No.
[01:27:35] Speaker B: Where the brother? Where'd he go?
[01:27:37] Speaker A: Where'd he go? He just avoided him like, you're gone.
[01:27:42] Speaker B: He just crawled off to the lockers, dude. I'll blame him.
[01:27:47] Speaker C: Yeah. They just squash him after that rounds. And Silver Cat get caught by Shabata and hook and chokes on the like over the rope, which looked pretty cool. And Hops hits the spine buster on Uno for the win. Done. Hangman does run out. He did hold his word. He didn't interfere with the match. He did not with the match. Hangman comes out after the match is over with the chain hook disappears. He. I didn't even see him leave. He was just gone.
[01:28:14] Speaker A: Maybe he got injured again and I'll do. Then he'll be a heel again in four months.
[01:28:18] Speaker C: He was off to the box face again.
[01:28:20] Speaker A: Yeah, he's off.
[01:28:21] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:28:22] Speaker B: He's got to get to his. His night shift work at the diner.
[01:28:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:28:30] Speaker C: Shabbata and Hobbs do fight Hangman a little bit.
Hangman sets up the Buckshot and house, but security runs out and separates them. And Hangman just beats the out of these security guards. Yeah.
[01:28:41] Speaker B: I was. Was just like, hey, that's new. I was like, clearly they're not actually security.
[01:28:48] Speaker C: No. They are local wrestlers probably getting paid 50 to $100, but they're getting exposure.
[01:28:55] Speaker B: Oh, my God.
[01:28:58] Speaker C: Yeah. They even Buckshot's one of them. And you just see they are hops run away.
[01:29:03] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[01:29:03] Speaker C: And we. We cut backstage to our, I think, final non match in our final, like, backstage promo thing.
And it is Don Callis with Okada and Fletcher.
Renee says it's pretty safe. Yeah, it's just this little one again. Renee says the Bucks won't be joining Don Cal's family. No. Kata blames Takeshita for not being there earlier.
And Don says Takesha is training for his big match in Japan. But Takeshita comes out and says he is there and gets an Okada's face. But Don separates them.
[01:29:36] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:29:36] Speaker C: And this. This stuff drives me. Renee asks about the. The concept of the Unified Championship. And basically Don explains that the Unified Championship is just the symbolic championship of the International and the Continental. That's why. Yeah. And that's why just the Continental is up. And I just think why even have the uniform? I guess it's just a, like, stunt belt kind of thing. But I don't know. It's not.
It's weird to me.
[01:30:07] Speaker B: So, like, if he. If they win the Continental, are they gonna take an arm off the belt or just like.
[01:30:14] Speaker C: I think it's just gonna disappear? Like, I think Okada will still have the International belt. Somebody else will have the Continental belt, and the Unified will just not be a thing.
[01:30:23] Speaker A: Yeah. They'll just put it back in the closet until somebody unifies a belt again. You know what I mean?
You did it. You get it. You get this.
[01:30:32] Speaker C: I think the way they're gonna. I think they're gonna have Takesha is gonna go to Okada into putting both of them up and making it an actual, like, unified.
[01:30:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:30:42] Speaker C: Where the storyline's leading.
[01:30:43] Speaker B: Yeah. I still think. I do think that if they split it up, they should do it a little bit like a. Or they should do it exactly like a friendship necklace.
[01:30:54] Speaker C: Continental one champion gets half one. It's got the little crack. So you can put them back together.
[01:31:00] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:31:03] Speaker C: Unified champion forever.
[01:31:09] Speaker C: No, we do actually have another backstage segment here.
[01:31:12] Speaker A: Oh, you lied to me.
[01:31:16] Speaker C: This is just. It's a good. Yeah, that's our nature. We kill.
[01:31:21] Speaker B: Yeah, that's true. You know, a little deceptive little guys.
[01:31:26] Speaker C: But this one, it is Hangman Page backstage, and he's just freaking the out. He's just yelling, boy, hat off.
[01:31:33] Speaker A: He's ready to do a murder.
[01:31:35] Speaker C: He has a gray line where he says he's talking about how he fought for three years for the belt. And he has a great line where he's like, I beat Kyle Fletcher for this belt. I beat Will Ospreay for this belt, and Hook is gonna be the reason I lose this belt. He's so aghast.
[01:31:52] Speaker C: And he's right. It's ridiculous.
[01:31:55] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm big agree.
[01:31:56] Speaker C: Yeah. Basically, he says the full gear was the OPS crowning moment, but it's just a bump in the road for him. And he challenges Hobbs and Shabata to a tag match next week and pretty much infers that it's going to be swerved Strickland with them because they've been doing their parents and all that.
It tells the OPS to get their affairs together.
And now we are on to our main event. It is a final Continental Classic match from the Blue League. Claudio Castagnoli versus Gian.
[01:32:24] Speaker C: Max.
[01:32:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:32:28] Speaker A: I still want to do Wild Thing every time. I can't help it.
[01:32:31] Speaker C: It's that. That's. It's not the song anyway.
[01:32:34] Speaker A: It's gotta come back.
[01:32:35] Speaker C: Yeah.
Maybe after the storyline's done, he'll bring it back.
[01:32:40] Speaker A: I think this is another. Was this another one where he was outside? Marina slapped him around.
[01:32:44] Speaker C: She slapped him hard. Like, she always slaps him. But she, like, laid into him this time.
[01:32:50] Speaker A: Someone pointed out on Blue sky that if you pay attention, you can catch him after the one she lays in. You see him go, God damn.
[01:33:00] Speaker C: I did. He reacted to it.
[01:33:02] Speaker A: Yeah. No, he was like, I can't help but sell that a little bit. Girl, you. That hurt.
[01:33:07] Speaker B: Like.
[01:33:09] Speaker B: He was also just taking a drink of water. It was in the cold, too.
[01:33:13] Speaker C: Yeah, like, cold.
[01:33:15] Speaker B: Him out of nowhere.
[01:33:16] Speaker C: Good Indianapolis in December. Yeah.
[01:33:19] Speaker B: Cleaned her up, too. She's no longer bloody, which is nice.
[01:33:24] Speaker A: It's my fate. That's one of the my. It might be my favorite Thing about the. The entire, like, the whole of the Death Riders is that every time Moxley walks out, she just smacks him around a little bit before he. It's so cute.
[01:33:37] Speaker C: But, like, even, like, maybe I'm reading too much into it. The severity of the slap, I think, feeds into the storyline of this match. Of this being kind of like the fight for the leadership of the Death Riders type thing, kinda.
[01:33:50] Speaker A: Yeah, we can put it that way. Yeah.
[01:33:51] Speaker C: Marina. Marina's still loyal to Jon. Like, she wants him to win this because she wants him to be the leader. So she's really like, you gotta get out there and do it. So she lays in and really is, like, trying to wake him up. It's also like, during the entrance to the match, this will come.
She comes out with Mox, but all the other Death Riders come out with Claudio. She's the only one who comes out with Mark. Yeah. And she.
[01:34:15] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:34:16] Speaker C: She tries to stay out there too. Bryce has to kick her out.
[01:34:20] Speaker A: Yep.
Because of the rules.
[01:34:23] Speaker C: I do, like, a little thing they did too, where during the entrance, they. I like that they're doing this. Renee has a little segment during Moxley's entrance.
[01:34:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:34:32] Speaker C: Like a little sideline reporter thing.
[01:34:36] Speaker A: And yeah, that was really fun.
[01:34:38] Speaker C: I like too, that she's like, I. She said she talked to Moxley earlier and it's like, yeah, that's your husband. Of course you did.
[01:34:44] Speaker A: Yeah, that's what I said while we were watching. I was like, yeah. Or over breakfast.
[01:34:48] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:34:48] Speaker B: It was like, yeah, you're feeding the kids. Like, you're talking about.
[01:34:52] Speaker C: I hope you talked to him earlier. Like, if not, there's some problems going on.
[01:34:56] Speaker A: Yeah. Are you guys okay?
[01:34:59] Speaker C: They are adorable together. I was gonna say, I. Such a funny dynamic whenever you see them, like, interacting in real life stuff. Because Mox is still exactly like Mox in real life. And she is just an adorable, funny lady.
[01:35:12] Speaker A: It was real fun watching it with you, Hector, because we're joking about how Marina is his work wife.
[01:35:17] Speaker C: Wife.
But. And then the funny thing is Marina is Roderick Strong's actual wife.
[01:35:22] Speaker A: Yeah. And that's what we're trying.
And then you're like, but who is his wife? And then Renee popped up. I was like, her.
That's his actual way.
[01:35:31] Speaker B: I thought it was very funny because I. That was just revealed right before that scene. I was like, oh, look. I've been like, hi, babe.
[01:35:41] Speaker A: Yeah. Then also there he was. I was like, that was a great timing.
[01:35:45] Speaker B: Yeah, perfect.
[01:35:46] Speaker A: You're all caught up and go.
[01:35:50] Speaker C: So shout out to the guy in the front row with a Duff Beer hat that I didn't see. Yeah. Before this.
[01:35:55] Speaker A: I don't know.
[01:35:57] Speaker C: It's like, oh, there he is. I'm re watching classic Simpson. So I hit very hard.
[01:36:03] Speaker C: This is a cool looking match. It's almost got. It has a very interesting atmosphere because these are again, two guys who have been working as heels. They kind of like earlier where the crowd doesn't. You know, you almost don't really want to be cheering for either of these guys because they have been the antagonists of the company for the last few months.
[01:36:22] Speaker A: These two are like the, the.
The national hall of the most. Nwo. NWO right now.
[01:36:30] Speaker B: I know exactly what you mean.
[01:36:31] Speaker C: I genuinely can't think of two men less like national though.
[01:36:34] Speaker A: And like, you know, in actuality.
[01:36:37] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[01:36:38] Speaker C: Neither one is like either of those people.
[01:36:41] Speaker A: Imagine if. Yeah, no, imagine if Kevin Nash was actually strong enough to like lift a car.
[01:36:47] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, that's.
[01:36:49] Speaker A: That's Claudio. Yeah.
[01:36:53] Speaker C: I very much associate Nash and Hall with a sense of humor. They're very funny guys. Yeah. These guys, the NBA was always funny. Mox and Claudio are not funny.
[01:37:03] Speaker A: We. We do not have a sense of humor in the Death Rider.
[01:37:07] Speaker C: Like Mox is actually a funny dude. Like that was kind of what him over in wwe. But these iterations are not funny characters.
[01:37:14] Speaker A: They are not funny. They will literally. They will literally kill you with a plastic bag on national television and not give a.
[01:37:21] Speaker A: And then you're on commentary forever. Yeah.
[01:37:25] Speaker C: But that's. Speaking of that one thing I really like. Danielson fed the story of this really well where he kept talking about the reason Moxley was the leader of the Blackpool Combat Club when he was there was because nobody could beat Mox. And I actually saw. Let me find it real quick here. This is a. That was a true statement in the. In the Death Riders, nobody has beaten Mox except for Claudio in this match. Pac had one draw and one loss against him. Wheeler Yuta has three losses against Mox. Garcia has four losses against Mox and Danielson had three losses against Mox. Claudio is the only one to beat him. And it is very much this trial by combat, like establishment of leadership.
[01:38:05] Speaker A: And that's what the con. The Blackpool Combat Club always was. And I feel like that it was getting away from that and that's why he made the Death Riders as he was sick of. He was like sick of this. Blackpool Combat Club as faces.
We are here to murder people.
[01:38:22] Speaker A: Speaking of murder, this was a bloody match. Yeah, I love that John Moxley was like, oh, he gushes.
Oh. But also he was like, it. I'm going to blade literally on the fans because he. At one point, he. He gets tossed over the. The.
[01:38:45] Speaker A: Guardrail, whatever, the barrier, into the front row. And then the. The camera's following Claudio out, who's following him. And as the camera goes over, you see him shoving the.
The gig back in his pants as he walks over. And I'm just like, oh, you're just blatant, like, on the foot of this woman. Like. Like, let's go it. Let's go.
[01:39:14] Speaker C: You get to take that blood home.
[01:39:16] Speaker A: Take that experience home with you. Yeah.
No, they actually test now.
[01:39:21] Speaker C: I have a.
[01:39:21] Speaker A: This isn't the nineties anymore. Hampter.
[01:39:23] Speaker C: Yeah. Nobody's no horse.
Not after Cowboy Bob gave the undertaker hepsy or whatever, but. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:39:31] Speaker B: Oh. Oh. So they got one of Vince's favorites.
[01:39:34] Speaker C: I don't know if he actually gave them to him.
No. But it was tested positive for hep C after he bled on the Undertaker. But I don't think it actually got.
[01:39:42] Speaker A: And taker didn't take too kindly to that.
[01:39:45] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[01:39:46] Speaker C: I mean, they're very hardcore about that.
[01:39:48] Speaker B: It's like the only reason anything happened was because it was Vince's favorite.
[01:39:52] Speaker A: Has one of Vince's favorites.
You with my golden goose, pal.
[01:39:56] Speaker B: Yeah, I know how the game is played.
[01:39:59] Speaker C: My. My wristband from that. I have that wristband I wore at that last GCW show I went to that is covered in Matt Draymond's blood like that.
[01:40:06] Speaker A: Oh, God.
[01:40:07] Speaker C: In the front row. It was literally. I had to clean it off my face after the show was over.
[01:40:12] Speaker A: Oh, Christ. Yeah, so, no, they're good about that now.
[01:40:16] Speaker C: Yeah. Like, even this match, I don't have a ton of spots or anything written down because these guys really just like, the. Out of each other.
[01:40:23] Speaker A: And it was just a really solid. It was as solid of a match as you would expect from these two. The. The.
[01:40:32] Speaker C: Should have been from them.
[01:40:34] Speaker A: Yeah. It was just. It was no nonsense. It wasn't like. It was the kind of thing where, like, a lot of times when you get a heel versus a heel, especially when they're on the same team.
You know, we talked about last night. We talked about the finger poker doom and how, like. Well, Claudio did it, you might ask, actually die.
[01:40:54] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:40:55] Speaker A: But also, like, just, you know, the. That's not. These two. These two, you put them against each other. It's like, no, I'm going to try to hurt my best friend until he gives up like that. That's their nature of their friendship.
[01:41:11] Speaker C: And, like, there almost this. This story throughout this of Mox, like, his desperation. And he starts trying to, like, gain energy from the crowd. He's doing like. He does. He does do the dive to the outside. He's doing these, like, poppy spots, and people are, like, cheering him and stuff. Even, like, the final bit of it is mocks in the corner and he's, like, really trying to, like, he jumps up in the corner. He's, like, revved up and stuff. And he's trying to, like, he's got the crowd behind me. He goes for it, and Claudio just kills him with the uppercut. Yeah, clean off.
[01:41:43] Speaker A: Yeah, clean off. And, like, it just. Yeah, the kind of like, you ain't coming up from that one. And again, I can't stress enough after he blades, he's just leaving forehead prints of blood everywhere.
[01:41:55] Speaker B: Everywhere.
[01:41:56] Speaker A: Yeah, all over. He just.
[01:41:59] Speaker C: He bled because Claudio's. Claudio's also bald. And they're, like, doing the, like, the submission exchanges. And Moxley's bullet is pouring. It looks like Claudio at some point because Moxley's blood has fallen onto Excalibur.
[01:42:12] Speaker A: Except we had Science corner with Excalibur, who explained to everyone how centrifugal force.
[01:42:18] Speaker B: Works and spinning him around. Yeah.
[01:42:21] Speaker A: And the blood is flowing to his head from the centrifugal force of the pigs.
All right, buddy. Yeah. Let's go.
[01:42:29] Speaker C: Inertia is a property of matter.
[01:42:31] Speaker A: Yeah. Inertia is a property of blood.
[01:42:36] Speaker A: Oh, God. Brain matter at this point. Point.
At one point, he swings them into the steel steps.
[01:42:42] Speaker C: That was a banger.
[01:42:44] Speaker A: Oh, God.
But yeah, no, this was a. A knockout down, drag out rap match. Like, they really went for it, and it was fantastic. It wasn't match of the night, though.
[01:42:57] Speaker C: No, it was definitely. Oh.
Versus Kevin Stole the show. But this was very good and what it needed to be. No, I really do like. And I like the end watching the reactions of all the different.
[01:43:09] Speaker A: Yep.
[01:43:10] Speaker B: It was. It was like two titans fighting, actually.
[01:43:14] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:43:15] Speaker A: Yeah. It was a big old Kaiju battle.
[01:43:17] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:43:18] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:43:20] Speaker B: Honestly, I was like, I wish they had the. The. The old gates back. The barriers back where. Because they really crashed into it.
[01:43:31] Speaker A: Oh, God. No, it was. It was fantastic. It was a. It was a great main event. What was the. I took one note here for this. What was it?
Separation of the fingers is our main event, is what I wrote down.
[01:43:46] Speaker A: I don't know what that means, but. Okay.
[01:43:52] Speaker B: Sounded good at the time.
[01:43:53] Speaker A: It was important enough to type Out.
[01:43:58] Speaker C: There's a sad moment, though, where at the end of it, Moxley's sitting outside and Marina's just hunched down next to him, looking at him like the kid who realizes she's gonna have to put her dog down.
[01:44:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:44:12] Speaker C: I always loved you, but it's time. I'm sorry.
[01:44:18] Speaker C: I almost had him. I almost had him.
[01:44:21] Speaker A: No, you. No, you didn't, bro.
[01:44:23] Speaker C: You know?
[01:44:23] Speaker A: Yeah, like, you didn't. You are so cooked. Cooked. He's so cooked. No, like, that was. That was very much like Black Panther. Is this your king moment? Like. Like, yeah, like, Claudio is just like. I'm sorry. It's done. It is.
[01:44:39] Speaker C: Yeah. And everybody. They all dap each other up and everything. It still is looking cordial. And they just. And after the show, they released the Tick Tock video where they're all doing push ups together, which is. It was weirdly homoerotic, but it was.
[01:44:54] Speaker A: It wouldn't be wrestling. It wouldn't be combo.
[01:44:56] Speaker C: It's like, who. It's.
[01:45:00] Speaker C: Arena, I think, walks into a room and Pac, Claudio and Moxley are just in the room doing push ups. And Utah's there, too. They're just doing push ups. And she just gets down and starts doing push ups with them, too. And that's like the whole video.
So we're not broken up yet. They're still being weird.
[01:45:21] Speaker A: Hampter.
This. This is nwo.
[01:45:28] Speaker C: Yes.
[01:45:29] Speaker B: Yeah. I was about to finally. Yeah. Is this nwo? Yeah.
[01:45:35] Speaker B: Though I am shocked to discover that there is any homoeroticism in the straightest sports entertainment show ever.
[01:45:45] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
[01:45:46] Speaker B: My wrestling.
[01:45:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Gay in my wrestling.
[01:45:51] Speaker B: Explicitly or not explicitly, but, like, no, If.
[01:45:55] Speaker A: Sometimes. Well, Tony Marina. Sometimes. Yeah.
[01:45:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:45:59] Speaker C: It's a flag.
[01:46:01] Speaker C: Yeah. This was a pretty good. I honestly, I didn't think it was a great Dynamite. I think the tournament matches really carried it. There was a lot of backstage segments. There was a lot of interview segments.
I like, I said it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't put this, like an even.
[01:46:18] Speaker C: 15Th of the year.
[01:46:19] Speaker A: It was a solid C2 dynamite is what I'd say. It was a good C2 dynamite. It was a very good C2 dynamite.
[01:46:27] Speaker C: Like, last week, the tournament matches carried it.
[01:46:30] Speaker A: This was the tournament match has carried it. Yeah.
That and the ever increasing likelihood of. I think we're gonna have to kill this guy. Marina is.
[01:46:44] Speaker B: Damn.
[01:46:45] Speaker C: There was some good story throughout. Yeah.
[01:46:48] Speaker A: That I'm really enjoying watching them slow build this because, like, he's. Do you think they'll. Do you think they're gonna do you think they're gonna bag him?
Yeah, I think they'll probably. I think they're gonna be. I think.
[01:47:02] Speaker C: I think they're gonna. I think Max will turn face off of this and.
[01:47:05] Speaker A: Yeah, right.
[01:47:06] Speaker C: Move. It's time to mix this up. I think Claudio will probably be the leader coming out of. There'll be a new faction built from it or something like that.
It's moving along good. It's a good storyline. It'll be a good combination to the Moxley's holy run of putting people over and elevating new stars by letting them like just beat the out of them.
[01:47:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:47:27] Speaker C: I honestly won't even mind him getting the title again. You know, not right away, but soonish. I wouldn't mind him as world title again.
[01:47:33] Speaker A: I get. Give him a. A year of. Of.
I. I think you give him a. A year of having to get back in. In the locker room's good graces as.
[01:47:44] Speaker C: A. I see him and Eddie back together.
[01:47:46] Speaker A: You. He has to earn it. You know what I mean? I think he has to earn it from the locker room before you give it to him. That would be a good story.
[01:47:54] Speaker C: Moxinetti back together as a tag team, like building each other back up.
[01:47:58] Speaker A: I would be very.
Yeah. Just keep them away from exploding rings.
[01:48:05] Speaker C: Yeah. No.
[01:48:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:48:08] Speaker C: Sparkler rings.
[01:48:10] Speaker A: Sparkler rings.
[01:48:15] Speaker C: Any other final thoughts on this here. AEW Dynamite Episode Southern 4 Now because I'm tired.
[01:48:23] Speaker C: Turn.
[01:48:24] Speaker B: That's turned you Southern all of a sudden.
[01:48:26] Speaker C: Once I get sleepy.
[01:48:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:48:28] Speaker A: No, no, I. I think that's everything that I gotta say about that. I gotta clean up all this cheese and Slim Jim.
[01:48:38] Speaker B: No, no, no, no, no. Just save it for later.
[01:48:40] Speaker C: That's.
[01:48:40] Speaker B: That's good eating. That's good eating.
[01:48:42] Speaker A: This pilot, you were in there for two weeks.
[01:48:47] Speaker C: Hampton nests and pushed it into a pile in the corner. It's like, oh, my God.
[01:48:52] Speaker B: Cocaine has kept me alive for six whole months.
[01:48:57] Speaker A: When you have Ric Flair in there with you. Okay, I'll. I. I will take you down and show you your new digs in the web. The web still go, by the way?
There's clones on their way.
It's.
[01:49:09] Speaker C: It's coming exciting.
[01:49:10] Speaker A: It's coming back. Well, I also. I got letter in the mail. It's.
[01:49:14] Speaker C: It.
[01:49:15] Speaker A: It'll make sense soon. Anyways.
That. That's all I got to say for now. No. So. So you want to take us out, Jeff?
Mongoose us away?
[01:49:25] Speaker A: Say goodbye, Jeff.
[01:49:27] Speaker C: Yeah, I fell apart there. I didn't know if anyone could hear me. It froze up online but no, it froze up.
[01:49:32] Speaker A: Goodbye, Jeff. Goodbye, Haptor.
[01:49:34] Speaker C: Yeah, bye. Thank you for being with us. This was very fun.
[01:49:38] Speaker A: Yes. And now we'll get you all settled in at the new studios and hopefully you'll be back.
Bye. People listening at home.
Hi, everybody.
[01:49:47] Speaker C: Have you rested?
[01:49:48] Speaker A: By pile of Slim Jims? By ever increasing pool of cheese.
[01:49:54] Speaker C: No, don't leave.
[01:49:57] Speaker A: Goodbye, old movie house.
[01:50:18] Speaker A: Is your drug drugs or deep fried turkey gizzards? In the case of Yokozuna. Yeah.
[01:50:25] Speaker C: A family annihilation.
[01:50:27] Speaker A: Oh, God. Jesus Christ. The dogs are locked up in the pool.
