[00:00:07] Speaker A: In the beginning, the earth was a dark, formless void.
But then God spoke and said, let there be wrestling.
And with that, there was Monday, and wrestling happened on Mondays. And God looked upon her works and said, holy shit, that's a lot of racism in video packages.
On the second day, God got depressed, and lo, did she post about it on the DVD VR forums. And with that, there was Tuesday.
On the third day, God said, let there be Wednesday. And lo, did the people reply unto her.
We know what that means.
[00:00:56] Speaker B: And welcome back to Wednesday Night Fake Fights, where we talk all things aew.
This week, we are in San Antonio, Texas, off the road from Wrestle Dream and onto a different road. This time to full gear. Now, there's a lot of roads that AEW goes down.
As always, the mean streets of aew, as always. I'm one of your hosts, Jeff the Tokyo Mongoose. And I am here with all my.
[00:01:21] Speaker C: Wonderful friends and co hosts recovering from the Wrestle Dream fallout. It doesn't work quite as well with.
[00:01:30] Speaker A: This pay per View.
[00:01:31] Speaker C: It's Piper Willow. I'm back again.
[00:01:34] Speaker A: It's Erica the length Warrens.
[00:01:38] Speaker B: Damn it.
[00:01:39] Speaker A: I bet the bit will remain. The bit will remain.
[00:01:42] Speaker C: I could have put money on that being exactly what you were going to do.
[00:01:46] Speaker A: Yeah, it will be the length until there's, like, a surgery and that's taken care of.
[00:01:51] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:01:54] Speaker D: I mean, I just. It's proof that Excalibur listens to the pot.
[00:01:58] Speaker A: Shout out, Excalibur. That's true.
[00:02:01] Speaker D: Love you, buddy. And I'm here from the floor because I threw my back out. In the lab, there was talk of a milking a chicken. You don't want to know. The. The.
[00:02:10] Speaker A: The.
[00:02:11] Speaker D: Let's just say the clones are needing to find, like, really interesting sources of protein.
But I threw my back out, and I'm. If you need me, I'm gonna be kind of just laying off to the side of the desk, so just. Yeah, I'll kick one of you if I. If I have a thought, but.
[00:02:30] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:02:31] Speaker D: Mox, bring me the ice pack.
[00:02:33] Speaker C: Interesting Sources is a great Talking Heads cover band.
[00:02:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:02:44] Speaker D: There are waves. Okay. Okay.
[00:02:48] Speaker A: All right. So I believe that I am driving this truck through the streets.
It's actually, I wanted to say that, like, you talk about the mean streets of. Aw. Makes me think of those old nitro and raw openings that, like, are going through the streets.
[00:03:03] Speaker B: I love the nitro one that had, like, the projections on the building.
That's the iconic nitro one.
[00:03:09] Speaker A: To me, that was the good.
[00:03:11] Speaker D: That's the only one they ever had, Jeff. They was never brought broke. They never fixed it. Anyways, someday, someday I will be financially stable enough to justify talking about 90s wrestling with you all again.
We will be back.
[00:03:26] Speaker C: We will be back.
[00:03:28] Speaker A: We'll rebuild. Bigger, stronger, dumber.
[00:03:31] Speaker D: That's literally a threat.
[00:03:34] Speaker B: More time appropriately offensive like 90s wrestling.
[00:03:39] Speaker A: All right, so we open the show, they give us the. If you have seen it, it was on social media about is a Hangman pages screaming promo in the trainer's room post match from Russell Dream where he was attacked by Samoa Joe and the OPS following his victory. We're not gonna. I, I don't want to get into the whole details of the promo but basically he's like Samoa Joe, you dumbass. I'm going to burn down Will Arnett's house and sink Samoa.
[00:04:11] Speaker B: I feel like at one point too they did the censor.
Hangman says I'm going to ruin your life. But like the way it was censored, it paused out weird. So it sounds like he's gonna ruin his dick real quick and then beep hangs way too long.
[00:04:27] Speaker C: I thought he said God damn life.
[00:04:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:30] Speaker C: I could be wrong.
[00:04:31] Speaker B: Oh, it might have been.
[00:04:33] Speaker A: I honestly forget because I haven't seen the promo since I watched the episode. So like I don't know the uncensored version.
[00:04:40] Speaker B: But no, that's just. Yeah, my assumption of it, I guess we've.
[00:04:44] Speaker A: We've got anger issues. Hangman back and I can't say I blame him because you kind of like very, very angry to fight Samoa Joe the way you got to fight Samoa Joe.
[00:04:58] Speaker B: Joe is a consummate heel. He pisses people off. Playing off like incredibly well.
[00:05:04] Speaker A: Yes. And that will lead us into the first match of the evening.
Trios championship match of the Ops. Samoa Joe powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyara Shibata. The newly minted heel group versus the Hurt Syndicate. Bobby Lashley, Shelton, Benjamin and mvp.
[00:05:20] Speaker C: I do like how the OPS really cemented themselves as being heels in this match.
[00:05:26] Speaker B: Yeah, very much. And like they. It same with the Hurt Syndicate going like full faces which they've been that way know the last couple matches. But for being formally aligned with MJF and stuff, they're officially in like the cheer us mode.
[00:05:40] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:05:41] Speaker D: I personally am just happy that MVP still does the ball in bit and.
[00:05:46] Speaker B: It'S over too people. Everybody did in the crowd did the. And like Bobby Lashley is insanely popular.
[00:05:53] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:05:53] Speaker B: Like he gets Bobby Chance every time I see him wrestle now.
[00:05:57] Speaker A: It's very surprising. I would say because, like, you wouldn't think. Think it. Especially if you remember, like, his early career.
[00:06:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:04] Speaker A: He was kind of just like a prototypical Vince guy. Well, yeah.
[00:06:10] Speaker B: And, like, for WWE transplants to. Aw, there's so. It's such a hazardous road that can go some ways. And, like, he is not. I mean, he's a good worker. He's a good. But he's not, like, you know, high flyer. He's very much this, like, big presence dude. But people just love him.
[00:06:28] Speaker A: I mean, it has helped that he's. He was able to work outside the WWE Universe.
[00:06:34] Speaker B: Yeah, the universe, the line.
[00:06:41] Speaker D: But I mean, really, it's. It's just proof of, like, it's amazing what you can do when you don't have a Vince McMahon halfway up your.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: Yeah, Yeah.
[00:06:50] Speaker B: I think that's the testament to the hurts. It's like the presentation's just been so on point that it was like, it's impossible not to get behind them. Yeah.
[00:06:57] Speaker D: And that was.
Pip I. Pip, I. I saw your eyes get wide there. Get your mind out of the gutter. That was metaphorical. Okay.
[00:07:08] Speaker C: I have no idea what you're talking about.
[00:07:12] Speaker D: This is the joys.
The joys of cameras.
[00:07:16] Speaker A: The match itself, since the ops are fully heals now, but people still love the. Out of Sonoa Joe. They can't stop chanting Joe until he does the most despicable heel act I have ever seen.
So they. They start with Shabbat versus Shelton Benjamin, which, like, yes, I want to see that. Give me that.
[00:07:37] Speaker B: Yep. Back to that 2014 new Japan fan.
[00:07:41] Speaker D: Anywhere in the world. Yeah.
[00:07:44] Speaker A: So then Lashley tags in. Powerhouse Hobbs tags in. The crowd goes.
[00:07:50] Speaker B: Instant meat chance.
[00:07:51] Speaker A: Just instant meat, neat. And then Samoa Joe just reaches over, tags himself in, grabs his towel, and he covers Hobbs's titties to a chorus of booze. Like, this is the most heel heat I've seen Samoa Joe get in a long time.
[00:08:12] Speaker B: And like I said, right at the start of the match, just perfect way to cement them.
Jonah's a lot of that. Like, he's great at little, like, cutoffs and shit and just, like, killing the fun.
[00:08:24] Speaker A: He. He has that whole he's a killer thing. But, like, he, like, when he is a heel, he's able to work in that, like, kind of mentality to himself.
That's.
[00:08:36] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly.
[00:08:37] Speaker A: But also, like, I hate this.
[00:08:39] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:08:40] Speaker A: So they get the heat on Benjamin again, and they go to commercial.
Lashley and Hobbes get tagged back in, and you do finally get a little bit of the meat. Preview is the meet. The meet and greet.
I don't know what else to call it.
[00:08:57] Speaker B: No, that was good.
[00:08:58] Speaker A: Commentary points out that Lashley has or no, MVP has not tagged in the whole match. And then when he does, he. He. He gets to run. Run in. He runs wild. Gets his ball and elbow, which again, got a huge pop. Yeah, they do him and Joe.
[00:09:16] Speaker B: Him versus Joe. Like, really? People went kind of nuts for that. I was like, Damn, everybody loves 2001.
[00:09:21] Speaker A: Like, everybody. Well, what is it? Was it the. The Beatdown Clan? They were.
I forget if Joe was part of that. Yeah.
[00:09:31] Speaker B: TNA is like, yeah, that's one of my least, like, literate promotions in terms of stuff I know.
[00:09:37] Speaker A: Especially that period. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:09:39] Speaker B: I pretty much only know, like, OSW review episodes of it where they make fun of it.
[00:09:45] Speaker A: So everybody gets to hit a finisher.
[00:09:48] Speaker D: Yeah, they do.
[00:09:50] Speaker A: Joe. Joe. Joe grabs a coquina clutch, but MVP is able to counter and he's gonna hit his finish. I forget what that move was called, though.
[00:09:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:10:00] Speaker A: Looking one the overdrive or something.
[00:10:02] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, that like, head slam thing.
[00:10:05] Speaker A: Yes. But the feud must continue as Ricochet appears, distracts mvp. Samoa Joe chokes him out. That's it. The Ops retain.
God, we're still good.
[00:10:17] Speaker B: This team.
[00:10:18] Speaker D: This team as. As heels.
[00:10:23] Speaker B: I mean, at least it's something different. But I really. I don't. The Trios titles need to be discontinued or moved on or something. Like, they are such props. It feels like.
[00:10:33] Speaker D: I think they need a boost.
A boost of. Of new blood.
[00:10:38] Speaker B: I know we're just getting a tournament now, but like. Like a good tournamen something. I think this is at the end of the year or something.
[00:10:44] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:10:45] Speaker B: Bring in some international groups.
[00:10:47] Speaker A: Like, I think they just need to defend them more often.
[00:10:50] Speaker D: Yeah. And I think they're starting to. I think what we're seeing. I think we're seeing that.
[00:10:55] Speaker B: Yeah. That's with the heel thing. There's a lot of good face trios. So there is some possibilities to, like, freshen this up with some good instead of it just being like Ops and death riders back and forth for four months straight.
[00:11:06] Speaker D: The way. The way I see it too, is that, like, because we did that thing we do, they hurt people. We love.
[00:11:15] Speaker B: That was a good song.
[00:11:17] Speaker D: And we hurt people. I'm hurt right now. They hurt me so that we, we, we.
We love this. We couldn't help but make them face and it's like, well, God damn it, now we got. What do we do? Well, Samoa's Joe is over here and he can kill People and powerhouse hob. He breaks backs and Shabata's a goddamn mech. Like.
[00:11:43] Speaker B: Cops really like Hobbs slipped into like the heel thing really well too.
[00:11:50] Speaker A: Hobbs played off it really good.
[00:11:51] Speaker B: I like that. Shabata just keeps doing the same thing he was doing before. Like no change at all.
[00:11:57] Speaker A: He just does it a little bit meaner. Yeah, yeah.
[00:12:00] Speaker D: Just tell me who to hurt.
[00:12:01] Speaker C: Yeah, Joe is a killer. Hobbs is an. And Shabbata's there too.
[00:12:06] Speaker B: Shabata is Shabbata.
[00:12:08] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:12:09] Speaker A: It's like Shabata is like, I don't know what's going on, but I like these guys. So if we're gonna be mean, I'm gonna be mean too.
[00:12:15] Speaker D: Yeah, these are my guys. So like whatever's going on, that's what's going.
[00:12:18] Speaker B: Shabbat has always had like a bit of a to his move, set and every. Like, he's the coach of the New Japan Dojo and back in the day.
[00:12:27] Speaker D: I've seen him do like the.
I've seen Shibata do the like the Okada, I don't give a about you kicks. You know what I mean? Like, I like, I don't, like, I don't even think about you. That's what those kicks say.
[00:12:40] Speaker A: No, I like he was. He's been doing that his whole career.
[00:12:43] Speaker B: And like, yeah, I think it's a natural move.
[00:12:46] Speaker A: Yeah, he had that five minute match with Tanahashi. Hiroshi Tanahashi. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tokyo Dome, last New Year's. And like he's just laying in those chops as like, hello, my old friend that I have known for several years. I'm going to cave your chest in.
[00:13:05] Speaker B: That's why he's not allowed in New Japan anymore.
[00:13:07] Speaker A: That's why he's not allowed to do Japan. But they, they had to make. I'm pretty sure they had to make an exception for Tanahashi.
All right, so the hurts in the kit run after the demand. Tony Schiavone materializes to ask the question, yeah, Samoa Joe. Why? Why Joe? Why?
[00:13:26] Speaker D: And I'm here.
[00:13:27] Speaker A: Tony Shimani, he, he says that he likes San Antonio. They're in San Antonio. I don't know where they are. Yeah, he likes San Antonio because Hobbs can overweight women in the city.
[00:13:42] Speaker B: Pleasure to be in San Antonio because Hobbs is around and the big San Antonio women will keep him occupied, which I guess I saw online. Apparently it's a reference to a Charles Barkley basketball thing I have.
[00:13:54] Speaker D: I don't know.
[00:13:56] Speaker B: Yeah, it's real sports, so I don't know, but I guess it's something he said in, like, on some basketball show or something like that.
[00:14:03] Speaker D: I'm sorry. I prefer my. My sports predetermined.
[00:14:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't. I don't know. I. I read everything about wrestling, and people were being like, oh, it's the Charles Barkley thing.
[00:14:14] Speaker D: So I. I just assumed he was into the big ladies. And I'm like, yeah, like, right.
[00:14:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:14:20] Speaker B: I just love Hobbs like that. Women, I don't know. And, like, when they do it, Hobbs, like, raises the. Does a funny little dance.
[00:14:28] Speaker A: He's lifting a heavy woman. And I was like, okay, okay, you know what? You know what? Big girls need love, too. I'm a big girl.
[00:14:37] Speaker D: No, I'm just over here as a large American woman going, powerhouse Hobbs. But what's up?
[00:14:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
You say that to me. It's like, so you're saying there's a chance.
[00:14:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:14:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:14:53] Speaker D: Eric, I'm so happy we are on the same page.
[00:14:58] Speaker A: All right, so let's see. So why. Why did he attack Hangman page? Because he. Samoa Joe exists. If you have a championship, if you think that you are the man, if you think you are the best in the world, he will hunt you down and prove you wrong. Yeah. Yeah, I. I like that. It's like we. We like.
[00:15:19] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:20] Speaker A: Like, we've. We've. We've got, like, the full Samojo experience here because it's like, goofy Heel Joe. Terrifying Heel Joe. And then we get back to Goofy Heel Joe at the end of it. Yeah. He starts ragging on Texas teams.
[00:15:33] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:34] Speaker A: Go.
[00:15:34] Speaker B: Even throws out the classic sports. Yeah.
[00:15:36] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:15:36] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:15:37] Speaker B: And it worked. I mean, people booed the. Out of him.
[00:15:39] Speaker A: That's.
I think they're simple in Texas. And that he always works. I don't know. Texans, Please let us know. Or don't. I'm not your mom.
[00:15:48] Speaker B: Are you simple? Please write in.
[00:15:53] Speaker D: Jesus Christ.
[00:15:54] Speaker B: Or dry. I don't know.
[00:15:58] Speaker D: Oh, my God.
[00:15:59] Speaker A: No, that's not.
[00:16:00] Speaker D: Okay, folks. That is the. We here at Fake fight Studios do not condone this mongoose.
[00:16:10] Speaker A: Well, we do. We're glad he's back.
[00:16:12] Speaker D: We're glad he's back.
[00:16:14] Speaker B: I didn't initially call them. Erica called them simple.
[00:16:18] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:16:18] Speaker A: Joe called them simple.
[00:16:20] Speaker D: Joe called them simple. And Joe is a monster heel. Oh, there you go.
[00:16:24] Speaker A: I am repeating.
[00:16:25] Speaker B: Yeah.
If you have an opinion on it, please.
[00:16:29] Speaker A: Yes.
Please let us know. Yeah. I just want to know what Texas is like, what Texans think.
And then what does he say? He says, I will smack your cowboy ass and make you my. And then they.
[00:16:43] Speaker B: He.
[00:16:43] Speaker A: Yeah, and then he talks about the. The sports stuff. They are the ops and they stand in opposition to everyone.
[00:16:49] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:16:50] Speaker A: Just glossing over all that other.
[00:16:52] Speaker D: No, it's really.
[00:16:53] Speaker B: That was a good gist. Yeah.
[00:16:55] Speaker D: But no, they really he. That. They nailed it.
[00:16:58] Speaker B: Like, that's it.
[00:16:59] Speaker D: That's it.
They're like, okay, you want. You wanted the monster heel team to be faces. We did that. Now we're going to kill everybody, buddy, because you're forcing us to be the monster heels.
[00:17:11] Speaker A: I don't think that they've replaced the Hurt Syndicate with the ops. I just think it was overtime for the OPS to turn heel. Like natural.
[00:17:20] Speaker B: Yeah, natural movement.
[00:17:21] Speaker A: And I think it fits pretty good. That'll be interesting.
[00:17:24] Speaker B: And it also now if they do want to do something with Hook and keep him as a face, it's like more a natural line. Like do him and Joe again or something like that. Maybe Eddie Hook. Eddie Hook and somebody else.
[00:17:37] Speaker D: I don't know.
[00:17:37] Speaker A: We can get Eddie Joe.
[00:17:39] Speaker B: Yeah, Eddie Joe would.
[00:17:40] Speaker D: You know what I think would be really great?
I'm doing. I'm throwing it out here. I haven't even hit my nighttime weed yet.
I think Eddie. Eddie and Hook need to conglomerate. I think that the conglomeration is already kind of doing this in a way.
[00:17:57] Speaker B: The conglomeration is going to become the Hanai of aew. It's just every.
[00:18:02] Speaker D: They're going to become the. The opposite side of the coin to the callous family.
That's just all the heels.
Every weird heel I can get in.
[00:18:16] Speaker B: How do they describe jet speed conglomeration adjacent civilian warriors or something like that.
[00:18:24] Speaker D: So I said, because that's to say if you're conglomerating, you're conglomerate.
[00:18:28] Speaker B: The idea that the non civilian, like it's a military organization.
[00:18:33] Speaker D: I mean, Briscoe's often in camo. Anyways. Continue.
[00:18:36] Speaker A: All right, so we get footage of Mercedes Monet, 12 boats, ultimo Monet arriving. And I don't know what that car is. I guess it was like a Rolls Royce.
[00:18:46] Speaker B: Yeah, I thought it was, but it wasn't a Mercedes, was it?
[00:18:49] Speaker C: Should have been.
[00:18:51] Speaker A: You think I know cars?
[00:18:53] Speaker B: I don't know. Yeah, I. I even thought about that too. I looked at the little like hood ornament. I was like, I feel like I know what that is.
[00:18:59] Speaker A: But I mean, it would make sense if it's a Mercedes. But I don't think it was a Mercedes. It might have been a roll.
[00:19:03] Speaker B: Oh yeah. I think, Roy, that's where my mind Went.
[00:19:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Either way, she has arrived with her growing stable of twinks that carry.
[00:19:11] Speaker B: It's so good. It's such a great gimmick.
[00:19:13] Speaker A: It's awesome. The only thing that could have made it better is if the twinks were carrying the car themselves like a palanquin. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:19:23] Speaker B: That would have been cool.
[00:19:24] Speaker D: No, see, for that, for that, you need twunks is the thing.
[00:19:28] Speaker A: Well, and she also probably needs about, like, 15 more belts.
[00:19:32] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah.
[00:19:33] Speaker B: Need to get J.D. drake to be one of those belt boys.
[00:19:36] Speaker D: You get Mark Henry, you get. Put a belt on Mark Henry.
[00:19:40] Speaker B: She should do one where it just comes out. It's all like super heavyweights. It's like Willie Mack and J.D.
[00:19:47] Speaker D: Oh, Paul White's back.
[00:19:50] Speaker B: Yes, that would be great. Just comes out riding his back like a giant elephant.
[00:19:56] Speaker A: We get to. We go to the back. Chris Statlander, she is with Renee. She stripped with, cuddled with and then kicked the out of Toni Storm. And they still made up afterwards.
She talks some to Mercedes and accepts the title challenge. So at full gear, it is official.
Chris Statlander versus Mercedes Monet.
[00:20:19] Speaker B: Yep. Is it belt. It's belt versus belt, or is it just a challenge for the world title.
[00:20:23] Speaker A: Or did they say, I think it's just a world title challenge.
[00:20:26] Speaker B: Okay, I wasn't sure.
[00:20:27] Speaker A: Yeah, I will double check, but I think it's just a world title challenge.
[00:20:31] Speaker B: I'm sure it'll be clarified. Yeah.
[00:20:33] Speaker A: Stat can say that she's done something Mercedes hasn't done and that she's beat Toni Storm and she did it twice.
And then shoe will take the title to even greater heights as she channels Godric the grafted. I got my fromsoft game reference in for the week.
Render me unto greater heights.
And then we get more promo.
Darby Allen is here.
[00:21:02] Speaker D: Oh, I'm gonna go put my pizza in rolls.
[00:21:04] Speaker B: That's the time for that. Yeah.
[00:21:07] Speaker A: He doesn't usually get to do live promo, so I was like, okay, what's gonna happen? He has apparently exposed John Moxley as a coward.
John Moxley talks big game, but Darby Allen is the big game. Says Excalibur.
This made me laugh. He's like, ha. Get Paula Ves.
Darby Allen is not just the game, he's the big game.
[00:21:30] Speaker B: Darby still got that flag too?
[00:21:32] Speaker A: Yep, he's got the flag. He choked out Moxley with it at the pay per view.
So he talks about how when he was going to Everest, everybody said it was irresponsible and he can't be the top guy because he Just randomly goes off to climb deadly mountains.
You can't be the top guy if you're, like, gonna die any given moment.
[00:21:54] Speaker B: He did have a good little line where he's like, oh, if I died, it'd be bad for pr or something like that. And I actually got it. Got a good little reaction.
[00:22:02] Speaker A: It'd be bad for pr. I mean, it's not really their fault if he did it anyway. But the point is, is that he's willing to die for aew, and he shows off.
He's willing to go places for this company that no one else will. And, like, he. Yeah, both in the ring and going to Mount Everest. Like, I don't think anybody's ever done that in wrestling. At least.
[00:22:23] Speaker B: No.
[00:22:24] Speaker A: He shows off his scars from Saturday, and then he says he knows Death Riders won't go away, but as long as they're breathing, Darby Allen isn't far behind. And that's the end of the promo. So it was.
[00:22:36] Speaker B: It was short.
[00:22:37] Speaker A: Short and sweet. He got to the point, it was.
[00:22:41] Speaker C: Kind of almost the exact same thing Joe said a couple minutes before.
Like, hey, hangman slash, Jon Moxley, as long as you're here, I'm coming after you.
[00:22:54] Speaker B: Yeah. And I.
I like Darby's wrestling. We always, you know, all the issues with the. God, I just sometimes I don't care about the dude. Like, I don't know.
[00:23:04] Speaker A: That's why I think this was an effective promo because they kept it short and sweet and it was like, oh, yeah.
[00:23:09] Speaker B: I was glad it didn't drag. But again, it's still just kind of the same thing. They've been, all right. Darby's really tough. Darby does crazy stuff.
[00:23:15] Speaker A: Like, the other thing about it is that, like, makes me very, like, eh, is they've basically said, like, he's not done with the Death Riders.
[00:23:23] Speaker B: That's kind of it. No. Yeah. It's more this just general story and. And even there. We'll get to it later. But there's a Mox promo, and it's like Darby comes out and cuts a promo about how tough he is. Then Mox comes out and cuts a promo about how tough Darby is. And it's like, okay, we get it. Like, we get you guys out. Somebody more interesting for both of you, perhaps.
Darby versus Dalton Castle.
[00:23:44] Speaker A: Like, sorry, do you like promos? Because we've got another promo. It's a Jurassic Express promo this time.
Whitland Jack is here, and he mentions that he hasn't had a competitive match since January, referencing his really not good match with Yotasuji at Wrestle Dynasty.
[00:24:02] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:24:03] Speaker A: So he hasn't had a tag match like Saturday in ages. And they beat the best tag team of their generation.
What's next? Why this? Why now? They're reclaiming everything they lost, including. They lost their names, they lost their reputations, they lost their feelings, and they're going to regain the tag team titles from whoever is holding them.
Yeah. Thoughts?
[00:24:25] Speaker B: There was a lot promos, but I thought this was good. I'm enjoying this. Jurassic park or Jurassic Park? Jurassic Express.
And, I mean, I like that they're just being like, yeah, the match at Wrestle Dream was awesome. Everybody knows it was awesome. So we're really happy about it, and we're gonna keep doing awesome stuff like. Yeah, that's what I want.
[00:24:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah.
[00:24:50] Speaker B: Big lizard, little hairy man with a knife. Fight. Good.
[00:24:53] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:24:54] Speaker A: Whitland Jack, he didn't whittle this week, unfortunately.
[00:24:57] Speaker B: No, he's saving his whittling for the shed.
[00:24:59] Speaker D: No, he was whittling in the back. You didn't see it?
[00:25:03] Speaker A: It's entirely possible that there's always implied.
[00:25:06] Speaker B: Whittling when he's on screen. Anytime his hands aren't on screen, like, are underneath, you got to assume he's whittling.
[00:25:13] Speaker D: I was gone. So just real quick question. How many times did Darby mention going to Everest?
[00:25:18] Speaker B: Just the one, but it was kind of the theme.
Okay, all right.
[00:25:24] Speaker A: That's what.
[00:25:24] Speaker D: I mean.
[00:25:25] Speaker B: What was the.
[00:25:26] Speaker D: It was once, but it was a girl. It was a girthy once. Okay.
[00:25:29] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:25:30] Speaker B: All right. Appreciate it. More than an ambiance of Everest, it.
[00:25:33] Speaker A: Wasn'T about the length. It was about.
[00:25:36] Speaker D: Yeah, so, yeah, you were.
[00:25:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:25:38] Speaker C: The.
[00:25:38] Speaker D: Erica, the length was not in the room. Yeah, yeah.
[00:25:42] Speaker A: The way that gimmick works, if that was a wrestler and it was the length, it would be like. I would. I would. Before every match, I would say exactly how long the match is gonna go, and then it ends exactly at that point.
[00:25:53] Speaker D: That'd be a great gift.
[00:25:54] Speaker B: That'd be a crazy gimmick, actually.
[00:25:56] Speaker A: So, like, I'm not just. I'm not just being them. I'm noting them.
[00:26:00] Speaker D: Oh, my God.
Tony. Tony. Hire. Hire.
[00:26:05] Speaker A: Well, hire.
Yeah, I know y' all are listening.
[00:26:08] Speaker B: A genius wrestler type charact was like, oh, I can pinboy this down to the second.
[00:26:12] Speaker A: I know, I know. They're all listening because Jack didn't whittle. He's like, oh, no, I'm embarrassed. The fake, fake fights. People said, I'm whittling, and then Excalibur.
[00:26:22] Speaker B: I don't Want another Nick?
[00:26:23] Speaker A: Oh, we'll get to. We'll get to my victory. My ultimate f. Victory.
[00:26:26] Speaker D: Anyways, continue.
[00:26:27] Speaker A: We've got the four Corners. Women's tag match.
Queen Aminata and Jamie Hayter versus Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale versus the Sisters of Sin versus Top Gods. Are they top gods if it's just the two of them?
[00:26:41] Speaker B: No, I don't think so. I think it's.
[00:26:43] Speaker A: I've just been calling them top gods.
[00:26:45] Speaker B: Yeah, that's with ftr. I think it's just Megan Bain and Penelope Ford.
[00:26:49] Speaker A: They should be top gods. Yeah.
[00:26:52] Speaker D: I can't give you credit, and I feel bad because I don't. I. I was high and watching wrestling, but someone said it. The Babes of Wrath. And I think that that is what that needs to be.
[00:27:05] Speaker B: And I think that's what I think they settled on.
[00:27:08] Speaker A: They are the babes.
[00:27:09] Speaker B: Yeah, they did like, an online video.
[00:27:12] Speaker D: Okay. Oh, my God. I missed it. Okay. I thought someone. I thought someone went on wrestle. Sky was just a genius.
I mean, there's many geniuses in Russell Sky. Love you.
[00:27:24] Speaker B: Laser Ph.
[00:27:25] Speaker D: Yay.
[00:27:26] Speaker A: I. I said rip to myself, trying to call this for notes, but there. There are stakes to this. So the winners get to choose their first round opponents in the tag title tournament, which we do not have brackets for yet.
[00:27:42] Speaker B: No, that's later in the show. Yeah.
[00:27:43] Speaker A: But all four of these teams will be in it.
[00:27:46] Speaker D: Babes are red for the win.
[00:27:47] Speaker A: Willow and Harley's gear, I'm pretty sure is the dark magician girl colors.
[00:27:51] Speaker B: So you just had Whittle and Harley.
[00:27:52] Speaker A: Y.
Yeah, they're the dark magician girl from Yu Gi. Oh. So shout out Yu Gi.
[00:27:58] Speaker B: Oh, and Penelope and Megan are Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.
[00:28:04] Speaker A: Right. But it's funny because if you go by the Batman and Robin movie. Megan.
[00:28:09] Speaker B: Which I always do. Yes.
[00:28:19] Speaker D: Gave her the Lucha mask.
[00:28:21] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:28:21] Speaker A: Yeah. Who. Wait, who was that? Was that. It was a wrestler. Who was it?
[00:28:24] Speaker D: It was a wrestler. I forget who. All right, hold on. I'm googling.
[00:28:27] Speaker A: Yeah, you do the journalism while it talks about this. All right.
[00:28:30] Speaker C: Was it Jeep Swenson?
[00:28:32] Speaker B: Jeff Cobb.
[00:28:33] Speaker D: Jeff Cobb.
That's a Amazing JC Material.
Yeah.
[00:28:41] Speaker B: Pardon me.
[00:28:42] Speaker D: For you all who don't know.
[00:28:44] Speaker A: So this is kind of like a. Just basically a preview.
And it felt like they were gonna try and do something cool. And then it devolved into please don't get hurt before the tournament because there was a couple of scary moments where, like, did Penelope Ford break her or.
[00:29:01] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:29:01] Speaker A: Did Sky Blue get hurt?
[00:29:04] Speaker B: Yeah. Penelope took that nasty, like, landing off that moonsault. And I was like, oh, but there's still a lot of very cool in here.
[00:29:11] Speaker A: There was a lot of nice stuff. Yeah, I was right.
[00:29:13] Speaker C: It was Jeep Swanson.
[00:29:14] Speaker D: I was just looking.
[00:29:15] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:29:16] Speaker D: All right.
[00:29:16] Speaker B: There we go.
Yeah.
I was born to the ring.
Yeah.
[00:29:27] Speaker C: You know my favorite line from Batman and Robin that Bane says in that movie?
[00:29:32] Speaker D: What's that?
You got me though.
[00:29:40] Speaker B: Ever watch the Harley Quinn, like, animated show?
[00:29:42] Speaker C: Have not.
[00:29:43] Speaker B: Yeah, it's so. It's very funny.
[00:29:47] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. There was, there was like the whole DC tie in thing with the show. That was. Yeah, yeah.
[00:29:52] Speaker B: That was the look.
[00:29:53] Speaker D: We're.
[00:29:54] Speaker B: We're do.
[00:29:54] Speaker D: We're doing it without even meaning to. Yeah.
[00:29:56] Speaker A: Yay.
[00:29:57] Speaker C: I'm glad Lobo got a payday.
[00:30:00] Speaker A: Got a payday, brother.
Just don't, don't look for a sex tape.
It's gross. All right, so where do we even start? Like, there was just so much stuff happening in this. They're doing the thing where you can only have two people in the ring at once, but like, anybody from any tag could tag in at any time. And they kind of played it really well.
[00:30:27] Speaker B: Yeah, there's some cool little bits with it.
[00:30:30] Speaker A: Like Penelope got into the match by doing a blind tag on sky and that was how her and Bane got control of it.
And they, they might be the odds on favorite so far.
[00:30:47] Speaker B: I honestly, I mean, they're kind of my pick. Who I think should win it is Megan and Penelope. Like the whole tournament.
[00:30:53] Speaker A: They should get to the finals.
[00:30:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
Penelope Ford is very, very good. Like, she is such an underrated part of aew. She's just, she's shot like. Megan Bain's hard to ignore. It's like a centerpiece of the tag team. But Penelope's kind of very much the go.
[00:31:09] Speaker A: Penelope. Penelope's come into her own and it's. I think what this tournament is going to show is that a lot of the women who started in aew, like during the first year and then during the pandemic year, TJ Y TJ Aminata as well.
Like, they're like, they're going to show up. Like, here is how we have progressed and I'm very much looking forward to it. Yeah, they hit the big dives. Penelope and Ford and Megan Bain hit big dives. That was where everybody was like, very concerned that Penelope was hurt. Yeah.
[00:31:44] Speaker B: She landed on her elbow a little funky. Or you see her like grabbing her arm like right after.
[00:31:49] Speaker D: Yeah, I saw that. She looked like she might have got hurt. Yeah. On the way to commercial they did.
[00:31:55] Speaker B: The spot where Megan Bain tosses her into a cutter. And it's like, okay, she's probably. If they're doing that spot, it's a great spot. But it's like, if they're doing that, she's probably. Okay. I love that you would have been like, no, don't. She was actually.
[00:32:08] Speaker C: Which I think shortly after they did the double cutter into, like, a double, like, back suplex.
[00:32:14] Speaker A: Yeah. So, like, that was. That was a. That was a very cool spot. So they.
Yeah, they. Penelope before, did the double stunners, and then Ford suplexed both Sisters of Sin. It was super impressive.
[00:32:28] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:32:28] Speaker A: Willow somehow gets in there.
Oh, Willow gets in there because Aminata was isolated and she couldn't get to Jamie.
So the closest person was Willow. So she tagged Willow in.
Willow runs wild a bit, escapes a doomsday device.
Hits like, the biggest pounce of all time.
[00:32:49] Speaker D: God, you just went flying.
[00:32:52] Speaker B: Yeah. On Megan, too. That's crazy.
[00:32:55] Speaker D: Yeah, it's not. Willow's the babe with the power. It's not crazy at all.
I will hear none of that.
[00:33:04] Speaker B: No, it is just seeing somebody that size fly, like, one thing when she does it on Rio or something.
Yeah.
[00:33:16] Speaker A: Megan Bain was like, I'm going to bump my ass off for this move because it's going to look great. And it did.
[00:33:23] Speaker D: God bless everyone who does that for that pounce, because, like, holy.
[00:33:28] Speaker A: So the pounce actually leads to the finish. So Jamie Hayter had blind tags herself in while Willow was running the ropes to get the pounce. Megan Bain is taken out. Willow's taken out, is no longer, like, you know, can no longer get a pin. Hater comes in and Aminata comes in with her. And they beat the shit out of Penelope Ford for a little bit. And then James, Jamie gets her in, like, that arm capture where she's gonna do the haterade.
And Aminata just headbutts her.
[00:33:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:33:59] Speaker C: Flush.
[00:34:00] Speaker B: I'm gonna, like, catch her arm and.
[00:34:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:34:02] Speaker D: No.
[00:34:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:34:04] Speaker A: Cracks her in the face.
[00:34:05] Speaker B: And the Queen's crown, I think, is what she calls that headbutt.
[00:34:09] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:34:11] Speaker B: Gorgeous. Like, it's one of the best in the business.
[00:34:14] Speaker D: Immediately into the haterade.
[00:34:16] Speaker B: Yep. It's a great finisher.
[00:34:17] Speaker D: And that finisher.
[00:34:20] Speaker A: Holy.
[00:34:21] Speaker D: If you're talking.
[00:34:21] Speaker B: Yeah. From that alone, I'm now invested in them as a team. I'm like, okay, I gotta see them get into this a little bit.
[00:34:28] Speaker D: Friend of the Pod, Corey from Jack of All Graves. Put it on. On Blue Sky.
Was that. I. I felt that headbutt in My living room.
[00:34:40] Speaker A: She does that so well. And yeah, I hope that she never has to like, have a brain replacement like Shivada did.
[00:34:47] Speaker D: But Julia. Julia sold it like a too. That was Julia, right?
[00:34:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:34:54] Speaker D: Penelope. Sorry, wrong blonde pretty lady that I want the makeup of.
But that's neither here nor there.
[00:35:02] Speaker C: So I argue it's here and there.
[00:35:06] Speaker D: And also Renee.
[00:35:08] Speaker A: Anyways, we'll get to Renee. Renee was a delight tonight. She always is. But like tonight she was an absolute delay.
[00:35:14] Speaker D: Oh, my God. In her outfit. God. Speaking like, yeah. Pretty blondes that I want to look like is what. They're all there. They're all here.
[00:35:22] Speaker B: It's a star studded affair.
[00:35:24] Speaker A: The star. All the stars are here.
So hater grabs the mic. Isn't tag team wrestling just fantastic? And they choose as their first round opponents the Sisters of Sin because their war with the triangle of madness continues.
Yeah, good stuff.
[00:35:40] Speaker D: I think that's why I thought that it was Julie Hart as well. I want to make a quick note that I didn't get in and we didn't. I don't think anyone mentioned it.
Early on in the match, Willow and Harley do the brodido spot where Brody, like, where. Where Bandito goes in lucha style, like wheelbarrow and Brody lifts him up and turns around and slams him down on the other person.
Yes, they did that early on and it was so good. And the crowd popped and Will was. Looked like a beast. And I just, in my heart, I was like, I hope that means that they're getting the belts because they did an homage to the men's division champs. And it was so good.
[00:36:26] Speaker B: I think it's a good sign that with this tournament, there's like five teams I'm fine with and kind of want to win. We'll get to the actual bracket later.
[00:36:36] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll talk about the bracket. But like, I felt like these four teams are the ones to watch in the tournament.
[00:36:42] Speaker D: And it's. It's I. And yeah. Jeff, to.
Before I forget to reiterate what. What you said. Absolutely. Is that, like, I don't know who I'm going to. Because then we got Mina and Tony, who both lost it all. But have each other give him girls gold.
But yeah, like, man, what are we getting?
[00:37:08] Speaker A: I lost my title, but I'm in a situationship with Mina Shirakawa or Tony Storm. What do I do with my life?
[00:37:19] Speaker D: Two of the most beautiful women in the world.
[00:37:22] Speaker A: Oh, no.
Oh, no. I have no belts, but I have beautiful women around me. This is terrible.
All right, so we go. We go to the back, and there's a disturbance. Yeah, we heard there's a disturbance outside of Tony Khan's office.
And the young bucks are trying to get a word with him again.
[00:37:41] Speaker B: Reneo arrives, demanding a money match again.
[00:37:44] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:37:46] Speaker C: This gives.
[00:37:46] Speaker B: A money match, Tony. Just give us a money match.
[00:37:49] Speaker A: Like, they. They clearly have a problem. Like, at this point, it's just like, you guys need to go into, like, some kind of treatment program. Yeah.
[00:37:58] Speaker B: You gotta get Nick.
[00:38:00] Speaker A: Just one more. Just one more money match, Tony. Just one more.
And we actually get a Tony Khan appearance on television.
[00:38:09] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:38:10] Speaker B: And it's quite. He does such a good job acting the stairs right down the barrel of the camera the whole time.
[00:38:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:38:16] Speaker B: And I say this with all. It's very endearing.
[00:38:19] Speaker A: It's his. His. His quirks come through because he's just staring down the camera until he's gotta, like, introduce ftr and then he's got to look at the floors. I don't know.
[00:38:32] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:38:32] Speaker A: I'm shy. You know, it's like.
[00:38:34] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:38:34] Speaker A: You know, I. I get it. I get it. So. Yes, it's good.
[00:38:38] Speaker C: I like how it goes from looking at one young buck to the camera to the other.
[00:38:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:38:44] Speaker C: Instead of just ignoring and going back.
[00:38:46] Speaker B: And forth, he's hitting his points.
[00:38:48] Speaker C: Yeah, It's. It's great.
[00:38:51] Speaker A: I. I have very mad respect for somebody who's like, I'm not an actor.
[00:38:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:38:56] Speaker A: Yeah, right. Terrible.
[00:38:57] Speaker B: And he limits it. He doesn't get out there all the time. So when I. Ha. It's just kind of fun and cute. Like, I'm all for. You gotta point that out because it's.
[00:39:06] Speaker A: It's fun.
So Tony is happy to give them a money match because the Bucks say they'll team with anybody and they'll face anybody. So he books them to team to face Jet Speed and Jurassic Express, and they will team with ftr.
The Bucks think that they can get past their, you know, their checkered history.
Right.
[00:39:33] Speaker B: I like to think Tony was just hanging out with Stokely and FTR just before the book showed.
They're, like, watching old wrestling together.
[00:39:40] Speaker A: I would. I. I would hope that. That White claws, that leads to something somewhere. Like, why were they.
[00:39:48] Speaker B: Yeah. No, I thought. I was like. Unless he knew that the Bucks were coming and he wanted to. Like, he was pitching it to FDR first. And I was like, okay, they're gonna come back in eventually. So I got this idea, maybe.
[00:39:58] Speaker A: So Stokely gives them a dollar because they need it.
[00:40:01] Speaker B: Yeah.
I also like that it really was Played up as this. Like, oh, it's the Bucks and I will. They won't. And the Bucks are just like, man, yeah, we need money. We'll do that. Yeah, of course.
[00:40:11] Speaker A: We're fine.
[00:40:12] Speaker B: Don't worry. There's no tension here. 100 grand. Yeah.
[00:40:15] Speaker A: Next we come to a fantastic segment.
Possibly one of the greatest televised wrestling segments of all time is the Celebration of ultimo Monet. 12 boats Monet.
Oh, that.
[00:40:29] Speaker B: She keeps going with the Ultimo name, too. She calls herself that, like, five times throughout this episode.
[00:40:34] Speaker A: I love that. What I. What I respect about Mercedes Monet is that she celebrates herself. Like, she, you know, you gotta love yourself, like, and she does.
[00:40:47] Speaker B: She celebrates wrestling in general because I bet people are going to look up Ultimo Dragon from all this stuff. And probably some people who never watched his wrestling will because of all this belt collector.
[00:40:58] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah, there's that. But, like, I'm talking kayfab here. Like, no, no, for sure.
[00:41:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:41:03] Speaker A: She loves herself.
Every single week, something great.
Everyone has to celebrate it.
[00:41:12] Speaker B: Like, because who else had more celebrations than any wrestler?
[00:41:17] Speaker A: If you're not gonna celebrate yourself, who.
[00:41:19] Speaker C: Will arguably deserves more celebrations than any other.
[00:41:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:41:24] Speaker C: Anything close to the amount of success that she has had.
[00:41:30] Speaker A: Well, I've never heard of those titles.
[00:41:32] Speaker B: But half of her celebrations, it gets up Adams.
[00:41:35] Speaker A: It's so funny to hear people be like, well, nobody's heard of those other titles of those other companies, so who cares if. As if, like, Ultimo Dragons Collection wasn't like, that's a defunct title. It's mine now.
[00:41:46] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:41:47] Speaker B: And also it's like, now I've heard of those titles because she has them. And now I've heard of these promotions, now I'm aware of them.
I would have never heard of that Winnipeg promotion she just won.
[00:41:57] Speaker A: I'm gonna watch, like, Denmark wrestling.
[00:42:01] Speaker B: I might not do it, but it's nice to at least have it out in the ether.
[00:42:04] Speaker A: Well, I might.
[00:42:06] Speaker B: You never know.
[00:42:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, you never know. So Renee comes out first and she runs down all of the events of the past.
[00:42:14] Speaker B: Renee's wearing, like, an adorable sweater outfit, too.
I didn't know what to call it, but I thought it was very, very cool looking.
[00:42:21] Speaker C: It was like a, like, skirt, sweater vest, button up, triple combo. That shouldn't work, but really, really, really did.
[00:42:34] Speaker A: Yeah, like, the first time I saw it, like, I recoiled.
But then the, like, the more I watch it, the more I was like, you know what?
[00:42:42] Speaker B: Yeah, it works. Yeah, she knows how to dress for her personality. And like it comes through because we know and love re.
[00:42:49] Speaker D: I don't think I've ever seen her in a bad fit.
[00:42:53] Speaker A: No, she's the best dressed woman in television, I would say.
So Renee does run down the. The highlights of Mercedes weekend. So she became the longest reigning TBS champion on Friday.
[00:43:07] Speaker B: And from somebody who doesn't work here.
[00:43:09] Speaker A: Anymore, she defended her CMML women's title at Arena Mexico against Persephone.
Then on Saturday, she won the interim Ring of Honor TV title for Mina Shirakawa. And then after that, she went to Winnipeg and won the WPW women's championship. I don't know who she beat, but we're gonna look it up and we're gonna probably. That match is going to be online somewhere to watch.
[00:43:35] Speaker B: Yes, I'm sure.
[00:43:38] Speaker A: Mercedes demands that we celebrate her. And so here she is. And her music hits. The procession of belt boys comes out. They all look fantastic. My bisexual heart sings at this gimmick.
[00:43:52] Speaker D: Yeah. I say once again, Mercedes versus Dalton. Winner takes all. The boys.
[00:43:57] Speaker A: All the boys.
[00:43:58] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:44:01] Speaker A: The boys. Book the boy match. Boy on a pole.
Yeah.
The length.
Okay, so the music hits, but who comes out?
Well, no one comes out. Instead we have mini Monet is at the, at the table, which, like, we.
[00:44:21] Speaker B: Were talking about insane. A sheet cake and a single bottle that's labeled Vodka. Yes.
[00:44:27] Speaker A: So we have to, we have to really paint the picture here. So you have Renee standing in her.
[00:44:32] Speaker B: Pink outfit, your weird art teacher aunt outfit. Like.
[00:44:36] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:44:38] Speaker D: Doing her voice.
[00:44:40] Speaker A: There's. They have a table laid out. There is the sheet cake. There's a sheet cake. It is a bright yellow sheet cake.
Just like the most unappealing color of yellow for food.
[00:44:53] Speaker B: Yeah. It doesn't even look very good.
[00:44:55] Speaker A: And it's got purple trim. So like it's kind of Lakers, I guess. I don't know. I don't, I don't know what they're going for. And then there's just next to the cake, when I noticed this, I couldn't stop staring at it. But like, they have this cheap plastic bottle that just has vodka written on it.
[00:45:15] Speaker D: I didn't see that at all until you pointed it out. I didn't even notice.
[00:45:19] Speaker B: Oh, I saw.
[00:45:20] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:45:21] Speaker A: Like, once I saw that, I focus it. I was like, what's, what's the rib?
[00:45:25] Speaker B: It's like a kind of like arrow vodka or something.
[00:45:28] Speaker A: The bottom shelf, if that's real vodka, that's like something somebody bought.
[00:45:34] Speaker B: Like, they just probably like to get. Get it. They forgot to get champagne, so they just Took a mouthwash bottle and emptied it out.
[00:45:43] Speaker A: That's like something is like, I got this 30 years ago when I was traveling.
[00:45:46] Speaker B: Production's like, oh, what are we gonna do?
[00:45:49] Speaker C: It might as well be like a Looney Tunes bottle that has three X's on it and a skull.
[00:45:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:45:56] Speaker B: It is genuinely the least appetizing party I've ever seen in my life.
[00:46:00] Speaker A: So.
So, God, I'm trying to do this justice. So the puppet arrives and Harley is doing the voice.
[00:46:08] Speaker B: We don't know it's Harley yet.
[00:46:10] Speaker A: We know it's hard.
[00:46:11] Speaker B: The voice is modulated, even though occasionally it slips into an Australian accent.
Most of the time she tried to sound like Mercedes, but every once in a while there's a little.
[00:46:22] Speaker A: It was the. The slip of the accent was killed.
[00:46:26] Speaker B: I say that because I thought it was gonna be a bait and switch. I kept thinking, I was like, oh, this. They're making it look like it's Harley, but it's actually gonna be, you know, somebody else.
[00:46:39] Speaker A: The puppet is there, it's doing its thing.
Renee looks at the puppet for 30 seconds. Not even 30 seconds, like half a second. And then has to turn away from the camera because she's laughing so hard.
[00:46:51] Speaker C: So she's so good.
[00:46:52] Speaker A: She is corpses.
Like Macho man is rising from his grave to deal with this situation.
[00:47:02] Speaker B: You can tell how just genuinely amused she is by Harley Cameron.
[00:47:06] Speaker D: Like she has trouble with it every time because Harley gets her. Harley just has her number.
[00:47:14] Speaker A: So Mini Monet mentions that like, oh, she set the record for victories.
She had three. Three record setting victories in three days in three countries.
But wait, don't they say bad things happen in threes?
Never mind. Now everyone, let's do the CEO dance. And Renee does a CEO dance too, so.
[00:47:35] Speaker B: And actually if you watch behind Mini Monet, you can see Excalibur and Danielson doing it at the desk.
[00:47:42] Speaker C: So good.
[00:47:43] Speaker B: It's just real quick out of the corner. They're both. Danielson's getting down and like the whole.
[00:47:48] Speaker A: Time just imagine, like occasionally the puppet Monet slips into an Australian accent.
Now Mercedes. Music plays again. The side hatch has opened and here comes the real Mercedes Monet. And she's pissed. She banishes Renee.
He says, what are you doing, Harley? You marks want to mock Monet?
[00:48:10] Speaker B: And when Mercedes, the real Mercedes comes out, the puppet, they cut to it and it has a shocked expression.
[00:48:20] Speaker D: I laugh at watching it.
[00:48:22] Speaker A: So she does this whole thing is like, I'm doing all. I'm like, the best thing that's happening in wrestling. I'm doing. I'm. I'm advancing women's wrestling, and you're disrespecting me. How could you. This is terrible. And she, like, she alternates between yelling at the puppet and yelling at Harley.
[00:48:39] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:48:40] Speaker A: So, like, it's very confusing.
I'm sorry that this part is taking so long.
So much to talk about in this. There's like, it. It fluctuates between, like, she thinks the pot. She's talking to the puppet, and then acknowledging that it's Harley doing the puppet. And it just goes back and forth. So it's like, what is happening?
And it. I love it. I don't get.
[00:49:03] Speaker C: I've never seen something so goofy and cerebral at the same time.
[00:49:07] Speaker B: There's one point where the puppet starts mimicking her at some point too. Like, Mercedes is yelling and the puppets going, like.
And there's like.
[00:49:18] Speaker A: There's so many. I've seen so many screen grabs of this whole promo where, like, Mercedes just, like, doing, like, holding her hand out like, why are you doing this? And the puppet's just like.
So eventually, Mercedes loses it, and she pie faces against cake, faces the puppet into the cake.
[00:49:41] Speaker B: And it's perfectly coated now.
[00:49:45] Speaker A: Mini Monet.
[00:49:45] Speaker B: It looks like a three stooge. Just p.
Perfect.
[00:49:50] Speaker A: Mini Monae is selling this. Like, you know, any car, any wrestler who has ever gone face first into a sheet cake has ever sold it. Like, it's.
And now. Now Mercedes pulls out Harley from under the table, and she's, like, wearing a hoodie and all that other stuff.
[00:50:05] Speaker B: Like, oh, yeah, she's in. She.
[00:50:07] Speaker A: The.
[00:50:07] Speaker B: The theater class. Like, people who work in the back out.
[00:50:13] Speaker A: But that's not all that's under the table. As Kris Statlander emerges from underneath under Mercedes, lifts her up into an electric chair and drops her face first into the cake.
[00:50:23] Speaker B: And that was perfect. Her face was exactly as coated as the puppets was.
[00:50:27] Speaker A: That was exactly.
[00:50:29] Speaker B: There wasn't like a missing bit.
[00:50:30] Speaker A: It was incredible.
And then stat puts her through the table hard, too. Oh, I can't go back. It's too late to go back. I already passed the moment. But, like, I did. I did enjoy Danielson saying, like, that's not kind. When.
When she was yelling at the puppet.
[00:51:01] Speaker B: Oh, my God.
Like, I. I saw people bitching about this online and being like, oh, it's. You don't like wwe, but you like this. And it's like, the thing is, I don't mind when WWE tries to be funny. I mind when it fails. This was genuinely funny. I Don't mind wrestling being funny when it's actually funny. And it. This was hilarious to like, I was laughing just from you recounting it.
[00:51:25] Speaker D: Here's the big difference between WWE's humor and the humorous stuff here is that in WWE, it's all the humor is that is at someone's expense who necessarily consent to it.
[00:51:41] Speaker B: That's Vincent in the blood of it.
[00:51:43] Speaker D: Yeah. You can tell that everyone here, including Mercedes, is a theater kid having a great time. Like, and like everyone's winning. And the fun of it is that it's a puppet. So, like, it's like, that's the joke.
[00:52:01] Speaker B: Harley Cameron is a genuinely hilarious person.
[00:52:04] Speaker D: Generational talent.
[00:52:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:52:06] Speaker A: Like, and there's. There's like a lot of history. Not a lot of history. Like I say, like, it hasn't been going on. It's been going after like six months.
[00:52:16] Speaker B: No, but they're in the world of wrestling, though. Yeah.
[00:52:18] Speaker D: That's the nature of the. That's the nature of the business. Yeah. Like, that's a lot of history where.
[00:52:23] Speaker B: Stories change every month on a pay per view. That is. That goes back.
[00:52:27] Speaker A: Like things have happened and it's. It's just like, it all makes sense.
And like we've. We've even seen Harley trying to be like, hey, Mercedes, let's be friends. Yeah. And getting told no.
[00:52:40] Speaker B: Mercedes rejected her.
[00:52:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:52:42] Speaker B: And I like that they play the thing with Harley being friends with Stat and Willow and being that friend. Like, it's this interesting little overarching thing of like, I feel like we told people like that or Ben, people like that, where it's like, oh, it sucks when you're two people you really like and want to be friends, don't like each other for possibly, you know, valid reasons, but you just can't make it work.
[00:53:03] Speaker D: I'm usually that person. I'm gonna cry over friends with everyone. Yeah.
[00:53:08] Speaker B: Damn you, mini moment. And get into my feelings so it ends.
[00:53:14] Speaker A: It ends with Harley and Stat eating frosting off of the puppet.
[00:53:18] Speaker B: That was a great.
[00:53:20] Speaker C: And each other.
[00:53:21] Speaker B: Yeah. No segment of the year.
[00:53:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
Incredible. Yeah.
All right, we get a Jon Moxley video.
[00:53:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:53:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
I missed you last week, Jeff.
[00:53:36] Speaker B: I gotta do the Justin Roberts.
[00:53:38] Speaker A: Every time John is looking in the mirror and delivering a very angsty, let's say, promo about how his feelings. He didn't deliver what he promised. He promised he would make Darby say.
[00:53:52] Speaker B: Quit, but Darby's too tough.
[00:53:54] Speaker A: It was Darby. Darby's strength carried him through.
And. But like, that strength will also be his downfall somehow, I guess.
[00:54:03] Speaker D: His strength is that he doesn't give a if he dies. And it's basically what he said. He's like, darby, your strength is that you're crazy enough that you don't care if you get seriously hurt. And that strength got you through, but also, it'll be your downfall.
[00:54:17] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:54:18] Speaker D: And kind of jumbled his words a little bit. Mox wasn't his best. He had a rough weekend.
[00:54:22] Speaker A: I don't think he jumbled his words. I think he's. He's trying to sell the fact that.
[00:54:26] Speaker C: He'S, I think, frazzled.
[00:54:28] Speaker B: It's just the story that.
[00:54:29] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, he can't. He can't get rid of Darby no matter what. And he lost.
[00:54:34] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:54:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:54:35] Speaker B: The I quit match, the loss of that is very much affecting his character. I mean, that's stuff we'll get into here and everything, too.
[00:54:43] Speaker D: Yeah, I was gonna say we'll get into that, but I really like what they're doing with that. Yeah, Yeah.
[00:54:48] Speaker B: I said I'm a little sick of Darby, but Mox is doing great stuff. Like, I really. I love the character work. I love all the.
[00:54:54] Speaker A: Yep. He mentions that nobody can hold a candle to the Death Riders. Their only real competition is themselves. And he made a promise, but sometimes you just can't do it. And then he kind of, like, has, like, this breakdown where he's like, darby made a little liar. He's like, I thought I could do it. I thought I could.
[00:55:10] Speaker B: And I do wonder if that only competition they have is themselves. Might be a little foreshadowing for, like, the split of the Death Riders. That's. Yeah, just, you know, fantasy booking stuff. But I.
Not the only person I've seen thinking it.
[00:55:23] Speaker A: Just like that little part where he's like, I thought I had him. I thought I could get him to.
[00:55:27] Speaker B: Say, yeah, that's a good bit. Yeah.
[00:55:28] Speaker A: But, like, Box ultimately is not concerned because he knows who he is when he looks in the mirror. Or does he?
[00:55:38] Speaker B: We need a little piano so we can do, like, dramatic stings, little soap opera, like, organ flourishes.
[00:55:47] Speaker A: And this leads us into the next match. Jon Moxley versus Kyle O'Reilly.
All right, so first off, fantastic matchup. But then commercial. How dare you?
[00:56:06] Speaker B: They used to do that chant at PWG shows when he'd come out, like, everybody would go for the oh, auto part.
[00:56:14] Speaker A: That does sound like a PWG chant.
[00:56:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was there.
[00:56:18] Speaker A: Yeah. So Kyle comes out to the masterpiece.
[00:56:23] Speaker B: It's so good.
[00:56:24] Speaker A: Of a entrance theme for the conglomeration and the music video, I would say.
[00:56:29] Speaker B: Yeah. It's not just the entrance theme. It's the Titan Tron. This is. They posted on social media and it is a full on like 90s sitcom Family Entrance where they have a big couch and they are mugging to the camera and everybody except Roderick is happy.
[00:56:49] Speaker D: It's just a hoot.
[00:56:50] Speaker B: It's very fun.
Big Tom playing the piano. He's playing the piano and zooms and he looks at the camera. Tomohiro Ishi as big time.
[00:57:01] Speaker C: The slightest of nods of just.
[00:57:03] Speaker B: Yeah. He doesn't smile. Yeah, yeah.
[00:57:05] Speaker A: He does like he raises an eyebrow.
[00:57:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:57:09] Speaker C: Amazing.
[00:57:10] Speaker B: There was a lot of fun this episode. I'll say.
[00:57:13] Speaker A: Ishi's comedy game is vastly underrated. But I think that's just because most people have not seen those YTR videos.
Danielson is all over Moxley on commentary and I can't say I blame him but like he's just like very quick to point out that Mox quits quickly when he is in danger.
The crowd is happy to let him know that he said quit.
It is funny you say that the non biased part of danger said because he's also like very easy.
I think he was being fair to Moxley, especially during the.
[00:57:45] Speaker B: No, he was. But they've done this a couple times where like Danielson will be like, I know I'm supposed to be like partisan but Wheeler Yuta like, yeah, but I like that he continues like his history with these people too. I think it adds to the commentary that he's got these stories tied into.
[00:58:03] Speaker A: Everything and he knows Moxley well. So that's. Yeah, he's able to like know exactly that he does in this match.
[00:58:10] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:58:10] Speaker D: 100 really sells. It's funny because like friend of the other pot as well. Art said something. Or was it Art? I think it was Art said something about.
Because I joked about like, hey, did Mox ever take that vacation?
And I think he was joking about like, yeah, way to not sell that loss at the pay per view.
And then they did immediately they start doing this where Danielson's talking about like, oh, he's clear like up like he's clearly like, yeah, yeah.
[00:58:46] Speaker A: Although they did say that he was medically cleared for this match.
[00:58:49] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure.
[00:58:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:58:50] Speaker D: No, I think he's talking. He's maybe. I think he made more. It's the mental like. Yeah, it was like the fact that he couldn't.
Couldn't make that happen.
Him up like he's. He's like crashing out like. Like we're Gonna get crashed out, Mox.
[00:59:07] Speaker B: And I really want to give credit, like, Kyle O'Reilly was fantastic in this match, too. This was, like, the best singles match I've seen him have in a while. Like, just very on point with everything.
[00:59:17] Speaker A: So the story of this match was essentially, Kyle O'Reilly is like a shoot wrestler. He likes to do grappling, that type of stuff. Moxley also can grapple, but he is not in the right headspace, and he is trying to avoid it like the plague.
[00:59:34] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:59:34] Speaker A: And he's sort of able to. He's. He's able to, like, sort of keep up, but he's. He's not. He's not having it at all.
[00:59:45] Speaker B: They do a good job, like, working the knee, the legs and stuff that Mox tapped out to the Scorpion death lock on Sunday. So, like, there's the continuation of that.
[00:59:54] Speaker A: Yep.
Though in fairness, Kyler Riley did his.
The.
[01:00:01] Speaker B: He did his. The.
[01:00:02] Speaker A: He did the.
[01:00:04] Speaker C: He did the monster.
[01:00:06] Speaker B: That's gonna be the length finisher.
[01:00:08] Speaker A: That's a length.
[01:00:12] Speaker B: 60 minutes, 37. You're going down to the.
[01:00:14] Speaker A: I had something pop up, and I just say what. I'm not using used hub.
[01:00:19] Speaker B: That's the length secondary finisher.
[01:00:25] Speaker A: All right, where were we? All right, so we were still in Moxley versus O'Reilly. So, yeah, whenever Kyle is able to get the ground game going, the submission game, he's got the advantage. So Moxley going into break when, like, you know, the heels always get control during the commercial, he basically just punches Kyle in the face and stomps his face into the steel steps. And that's how he gets control. And it works for a little while.
[01:00:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:00:59] Speaker A: Until Kyle. Kyle's up, and this is a really.
[01:01:03] Speaker B: Good near fall where Max hits him with that stalling pile driver. He does.
[01:01:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:01:07] Speaker B: And Kyle, like, It is a 2.99. It's like, okay, that everything, like, blew off after that.
[01:01:13] Speaker A: Yeah. Like, this. This was a re. This was just a really good match.
[01:01:16] Speaker B: Like, I. Yeah, they have great industry.
[01:01:18] Speaker A: Together out of this. Like, Kyle O'Reilly getting to wrestle on TV is amazing.
[01:01:25] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:01:25] Speaker D: When I started watching AEW, I didn't know I'd never seen Kyle O'Reilly wrestle.
He was this. Him and Roddy both were this mysterious two guys that people would talk about that existed somewhere. And I'm like, I don't know anything.
[01:01:42] Speaker B: No, they're like. They're pro wrestling gorilla and, like, ring of honor 2010 stuff is some of the best wrestling I've ever seen in the world.
[01:01:49] Speaker D: My.
[01:01:50] Speaker B: My understanding now them in NXT, like that 2015 to the undisputed era with go in them is great.
[01:01:59] Speaker D: Yeah, I see. I never saw any of that.
[01:02:03] Speaker B: Yeah, a lot of it's worth going back. Bobby Fish in the house.
[01:02:06] Speaker A: Yeah, like, Bobby Fish.
[01:02:07] Speaker B: Fish.
[01:02:09] Speaker A: Bobby Fish was a.
[01:02:11] Speaker B: He was great. He was cool back then.
[01:02:13] Speaker A: He was cool, but like, he, like, until he team with Kyle O'Reilly, he was kind of just like, oh, yeah.
[01:02:19] Speaker B: No, it was Red Dragon, like, made him.
[01:02:21] Speaker A: Why is your name Bobby Fish? And then Red Dragon happened.
[01:02:26] Speaker B: Yeah, like, oh, because he's a amazing.
[01:02:30] Speaker A: Where is the LIE guy?
[01:02:32] Speaker B: Yeah, he started it. He said he's doing like a YouTube channel now. I think like, Jesus.
[01:02:37] Speaker A: Oh, God.
[01:02:38] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. He might still be an mlw. Yeah.
[01:02:42] Speaker D: But I now understand that the Terry Funk did wear no mouthpiece promo. Was talking about those.
It's like, what you little MMA and coming out and doing your. Your katas and with your, you know, like, making fun of.
[01:02:59] Speaker B: But it is like, he's easy to laugh about. But like, when I had. I've had this ROH subscription that got the extra month because of Death Before Dishonor. I've been going back and watching these old shows and fish in like 2015, 2016, like, going up against Ishii and stuff, I was like, oh, this is really good. And everybody loves this. Like, it's amazing.
[01:03:17] Speaker D: Versus big time.
[01:03:19] Speaker A: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
[01:03:20] Speaker B: Yeah. Ishi was the ROH tv. He was the TV champion in Ring of Honor for a while.
[01:03:25] Speaker A: People. I. There's a lot of people that discovered New Japan.
[01:03:28] Speaker B: New Japan used to have a much closer, like, relate. They used to do New Japan. People were there all the time.
[01:03:34] Speaker A: That was really, I think how a lot of people discovered Ishi was.
[01:03:37] Speaker B: Yeah, it's through that run and. Yep.
[01:03:40] Speaker A: The. The big thing is that Kyle eventually starts targeting the leg.
We talked about that before where he was. He tapped out to the Scorpion Death lock at Wrestle Dream.
So, like, he just is attacking the leg any chance he gets. He hits this disgusting King Kong knee drop. Yeah. On the back of Moxley's leg.
That was sick as.
[01:04:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:04:07] Speaker A: Like, that is.
[01:04:08] Speaker B: This is where Kyle flourished. This is like his best kind of stuff.
[01:04:12] Speaker A: Like, this is my favorite kind of wrestling. It's just like make it look like a fight. Like, go at it, go at it. Like. Yes. You know, flips and are cool, but like, God damn.
[01:04:24] Speaker C: And those are two guys that can just make it look like a fight and.
[01:04:27] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Yeah. There's some like, really Good exchanges, like back and forth between the bully chokes and they roll through and other submit, like just. Yeah, it looks like a grapple exchange.
[01:04:37] Speaker A: And the whole time Danielson is going like, mox is. Mox is. If he keeps doing the scrappling. Yeah, he's trying to grapple. He's. He's not gonna do it. He's screwed. He's screwed. And then eventually Kyle gets him in, like the dead center of the ring in an ankle lock. Mocks gets to one leg and he could kind of reach the rope to get the break.
[01:04:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:05:00] Speaker A: But instead he grabs the ref and just knocks him the hell out.
[01:05:05] Speaker B: He socks him.
[01:05:07] Speaker A: So that's a DQ win for Kyle O'Reilly.
[01:05:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:05:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:05:11] Speaker B: The bunch of refs charge out and.
[01:05:13] Speaker A: Yeah, the refs hit the ring before any wrestler does.
[01:05:17] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:05:17] Speaker D: I was gonna say Aubrey. Aubrey Edwards had none of that because, like, immediately. Immediately the rest.
[01:05:24] Speaker B: Once you're a Jet, you're a Jet for life.
[01:05:26] Speaker D: Yeah. No, those colors don't run well, those lack of colors don't run.
[01:05:31] Speaker C: They do run to the ring. When one of their own is knocked out, they run.
[01:05:35] Speaker D: They run to the ring, but they.
[01:05:36] Speaker B: Will run to the ring.
[01:05:38] Speaker A: The herd of zebras came to help their own.
So the refs hit the ring and then the conglomeration comes out and the Death Riders come out and they're all, like, talking and we get a trio's match out of this whole.
[01:05:52] Speaker B: Yeah, like, before that, though. That really is a great ending, like, to that match. This is such a good continuation of that storytelling because, I mean, you think about the two word boxes, last two big matches, the I quit match, and that Texas death. I mean, he won the coffin match, but really, like, his last two big moments are him quitting and, like, he's so desperate not to quit now and, like, continue this weak streak that he's just punching refs in the face instead of even giving it a chance.
[01:06:22] Speaker A: And they mentioned.
They mentioned it goes back further because in that first Texas Death match with Hangman, he tapped at him. He quit immediately.
When Hangman was like, gonna, you know, murder him.
[01:06:36] Speaker C: They commented how, like, he is almost smart about it in, like, realizing he's like, okay, I'm. Let me get out of this as quick as I can, as opposed to, like, trying to rally while I'm getting absolutely destroyed.
[01:06:48] Speaker B: I mean, this made. Made Kyle look great too. Like this.
[01:06:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, Riley looks awesome.
[01:06:55] Speaker B: They're doing a good job, like, moving him into maybe being like the single. Even, like Orange Cassidy is like, the single Stars of the Conglomeration.
[01:07:02] Speaker A: Even, like, from. Yeah. Last week's match with. It wasn't last week. Whenever he did. They did the Kyle versus Kyle match.
[01:07:09] Speaker B: Yeah, a couple weeks.
[01:07:10] Speaker A: Yeah, that was excellent. Like. And like Kyle O'Reilly, he's. He has lost a step because of his injuries and his age, but he is still awesome and he works. Yeah, that definitely benefits.
[01:07:25] Speaker B: They play off his strengths very well and, like, strut. They structure with it.
[01:07:28] Speaker C: Great. He's changed, but I wouldn't say he's lost a step at all, honestly.
[01:07:32] Speaker A: He's washed.
[01:07:33] Speaker D: I tell you, I've only ever known this. This Kyle O'Reilly, and I. I'm. I'm conglomerating, but, I mean, anybody's gonna.
[01:07:43] Speaker B: Be different than they were 10 years ago. I mean, especially in pro wrestling. Like, you're gonna give you this. You're not gonna be working the same you are at 33 as 23 when you had two neck surgeries and a knee replacement in that time. Like, that's just.
[01:07:57] Speaker A: I mean, I could, but.
[01:07:59] Speaker B: But it's how you adapt.
[01:08:00] Speaker D: No.
[01:08:00] Speaker B: Yeah. You're buil.
[01:08:05] Speaker A: I blew out both my knees and I can still do a 720 DDT.
[01:08:10] Speaker C: Erica. The length warrants blows up.
[01:08:12] Speaker B: That would be the most insane thing ever.
Around in the Air 3 or you mean a 720 into. I thought you might catch the DDT and hit a 720.
[01:08:22] Speaker A: I'll show you this when we finish, but I don't think I've ever seen. Yeah, hold on. Hold that thought.
[01:08:28] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:08:28] Speaker A: All right, so we go to this trailer.
The Conglomeration of Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe and Roderick Strong. The reluctant Conglomerate versus the Death Riders of Claudio Cassioli, Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia.
Utes and OC first, because they are faded to war for eternity now that Danielson's out.
I really like their chain of counter wrestling as they, like. Yeah. Trying to, like, crucifix pin each other because that's their. Their signatures, you know?
[01:09:00] Speaker B: I think they even said something about, like, Orange, Cassidy and Yuda, and they're like, yeah, you the first mentor that you'd have turned on. And then Danielson's like, yeah, I'm the second. Like.
[01:09:11] Speaker C: He's like, yeah, I probably should have learned something from that.
[01:09:13] Speaker B: Yeah. No, that was it.
[01:09:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:09:15] Speaker B: Ah, I'm a traitor.
[01:09:20] Speaker C: I got you again, old man.
[01:09:22] Speaker A: I have to teach a dolphin to talk.
[01:09:29] Speaker B: Let's cut to the. Will you just for clipping.
[01:09:35] Speaker A: Wheeler. Yuta trained a dolphin.
[01:09:39] Speaker B: I just. We don't Need Piper and I saying clipped out Internet.
[01:09:48] Speaker A: Well, no, because you're just saying not the same.
[01:09:51] Speaker B: Yeah. Out of context.
[01:09:54] Speaker D: This is what funny noises are for. Censorship. And then people can sit there and giggle wondering what you said.
[01:10:00] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:10:02] Speaker A: All right, so we just put a.
[01:10:04] Speaker C: Dolphin noise in there and. And it's gold.
[01:10:07] Speaker D: Yeah. Ring bell. Yeah, the ring bell noise. There you go.
[01:10:09] Speaker A: Ding, ding. Garcia comes in with Mark Briscoe.
Mark slaps the of him around for a little while minute before Claudia comes in. And then Roddy comes in, and they get a continuation of their last match.
I like that Roddy learned from last week. So he. He's like, I'm not going to get caught doing my drop kick.
[01:10:31] Speaker B: That was such a good spot. But it was a great spot. Like, yeah. Him getting caught and then kicking out of it and kicking Claudio back and then redoing it and fucking catching him.
[01:10:40] Speaker A: And just, like, dropping everybody on their spine.
[01:10:43] Speaker B: Like, oh, that whole sequence of Roddy on the outside was so, like, this match ended up being, like, kind of my sleeper hit of the night. When they first announced, I was like, oh, that's gonna be like, just kind of a little filler thing. They'll have you whatever. Garcia eat the pimp pretty quick. But no, this was a good back and forth. Like, yeah.
[01:11:02] Speaker A: They end up getting the heat on Roddy. Daniel Garcia keeps teasing the dance, which I think kind of sucks. Stop doing it.
[01:11:11] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, we get it. Like, we all have accepted that, like, that was part of your story to get you here, but.
[01:11:17] Speaker A: Okay, I think it's time to stop.
[01:11:20] Speaker C: You can let it go.
[01:11:21] Speaker B: Yeah. Especially because Garcia works in the Death Riders in this connotation. Like, I'm fine with him just being this, like, killer dude. Where it is. You don't need to keep acknowledging how you booked him poorly for three years.
[01:11:32] Speaker A: Like, and, like, the whole. The whole thing is just like, Mox got Garcia when Danielson couldn't.
[01:11:41] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:11:41] Speaker A: No need to have him just be like, no.
[01:11:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:11:46] Speaker A: I'm not going to shake my generals.
[01:11:49] Speaker B: The less stuff to remind us of the Jericho Appreciation Society, the better. Like.
[01:11:54] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:11:55] Speaker C: Anyways.
[01:11:58] Speaker A: So hot tag to Orange Cassidy. The juice is loose.
He runs well before. And then he faces off against his other forever rival, Claudio.
[01:12:08] Speaker B: Yep.
[01:12:12] Speaker A: Mark comes back in, hits like this huge twisting moonsault.
[01:12:17] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:12:17] Speaker A: All the death riders.
[01:12:18] Speaker B: What the whisper in the wind ass.
[01:12:21] Speaker A: Oh, that's right. That's what it was.
[01:12:23] Speaker B: He was from the top of the rail. And they're all on the outside, too. It's just I. Mark flies. But that Was nuts.
[01:12:31] Speaker A: That drew an AW chant. And then he hits a big fisherman buster on Wheeler, which he survives.
And then there's a bit of a struggle to get a J Driller until Claudio comes in and just starts throwing everyone around before I don't even know how like they cut that off. But eventually, yeah. J Driller on Wheeler, Yuta. And that's the end.
Conglomeration wins.
[01:12:58] Speaker B: There's a bit where Orange Cassidy goes for like a diving DDT on Claudio and Claudio catches him and then throws him up into the air into the European uppercut. Yeah, that unfucking real nonsense.
[01:13:13] Speaker C: Like freaking nature.
[01:13:15] Speaker D: Yeah. It's like no one should be allowed to be that strong kind of.
[01:13:20] Speaker C: Yep, yep.
[01:13:21] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:13:22] Speaker B: Utah eats the pin. So everybody's happy.
[01:13:24] Speaker A: Everybody eats the pin.
[01:13:25] Speaker D: Everyone's eat the pin. Look, I'm Wheel of Yuda.
[01:13:29] Speaker A: See, you get it.
Now you're catching on.
[01:13:35] Speaker B: Everybody gets in on the phone.
[01:13:37] Speaker D: Everyone's getting on. It's Scott. I told you, you can have Scott to.
And then new bits. Thank you.
Will you sign it out?
[01:13:48] Speaker A: It's Peter Sellers. November.
Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther.
[01:14:08] Speaker B: Wheeler Yuta doesn't actually sound like that either.
[01:14:12] Speaker A: No, but George C. Scott actually does.
[01:14:13] Speaker B: Yeah, it was an accidentally actually landed on an impression.
[01:14:18] Speaker D: Claudio Castagnoli.
[01:14:20] Speaker A: All thanks to the Sims. So the Conglomeration wins and Pac immediately appears from the dryness under the ring and attacks.
Ishi arrives at.
[01:14:35] Speaker B: I like the idea. He's got like a superpower that's like anti moisture. Like. Yeah, throw water at him now. And it just like before it even touches him.
[01:14:44] Speaker A: He's dry Pack. Before his element was water. And now it's nice.
[01:14:49] Speaker D: Dry pocket. I almost got one of those after getting my wisdom teeth out.
[01:14:56] Speaker A: Ishi gets up, was at the piano. Is saw what was happening. Like, no, that's not how this is going down. He gets up and he goes and he fights Pack.
Yes, please.
Mox comes back.
He backs off. Ishii backs him off until Marina kicks him in the balls.
This just breaks down as like Kyle O'Reilly now shows up to go after Moxley again. Orange Cassidy goes to Orange punch Claudia, who catches him and is going to launch him into the announced desk as he does to all small Russians.
[01:15:27] Speaker B: A Darby spot.
[01:15:28] Speaker A: Yeah, but Darby's like, no, that's my bit.
And appears with a bat and clubs. Claudio in the leg with the bat. And death riders bail. So bad night to be a death Rider.
[01:15:40] Speaker B: Yeah. And they did actually announce their Ishi and Pac is gonna be on collision on Saturday do it.
[01:15:46] Speaker A: I'm very into it.
[01:15:47] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm excited for that. It's a pretty, it's collision's pretty stacked in general.
[01:15:52] Speaker A: So we get Alicia Atute is with cake. Mercedes just as much cake still on her face. She has so much cake on her.
[01:16:01] Speaker B: In this hour or so. She has not found a towel.
[01:16:04] Speaker C: No.
[01:16:05] Speaker D: That's why I said she's just been wandering around a grief yelling like just screaming.
[01:16:11] Speaker A: I would be too, honestly.
So she's screaming and she's upset. But good news, the fallen goddess Athena is here forever trained. She wants to team with Mercedes for the tag team tournament and Mercedes agrees and now it's time for minion training.
[01:16:29] Speaker B: Apparently Mercedes replies, oh, hell no and gets dragged off screen.
[01:16:36] Speaker A: So I forget if this, I forget if this is where they showed the.
[01:16:40] Speaker B: Tournament brackets, but brackets still a little bit later.
[01:16:43] Speaker A: But yeah, I'm gonna put the brackets in here because I think we, we got everything. So.
[01:16:49] Speaker B: Yeah, let's say I have it handy if you want me to run it down or anything.
[01:16:54] Speaker A: Yeah, go ahead.
[01:16:56] Speaker B: Yeah. So we in the first round matches are going to be Queen Aminata and Jamie Hayter versus the Sisters of Sin as established in the tag match earlier. We're also going to have Willow and Harley. The Babes of Wrath are going up against Monet and Athena in the first round.
On the other side of the bracket, we have Alex Windsor and Riho versus Tony and Mina, which I'm very excited for. I think that's gonna be a fun tag team. And then we got. And the last match of the first round is Megan Bain and Penelope Ford versus aj.
They're all very cool matches.
[01:17:30] Speaker A: I'm good with this. Yeah.
[01:17:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:17:32] Speaker A: I know some people were probably thinking there would be more outside.
[01:17:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:17:36] Speaker A: Participants. But like, I think I like the.
[01:17:39] Speaker B: Idea that with outsiders you're kind of like, they're probably not going to win because, you know, for the initial champions they're not gonna be. But all of these teams I could pretty much see winning. Like, I don't think it's probably gonna be the Sisters the same. I don't. KJ's probably gonna lose in the first round to being in Ford. But like it's, I wouldn't be surprised if it went any other way if.
[01:17:58] Speaker C: There'S no real need for outside teams.
[01:18:00] Speaker A: Exactly.
[01:18:01] Speaker D: Yeah. Babes of Wrath or We Riot is where me and Moxley here.
[01:18:06] Speaker A: Yeah, I, I, My thought on it is basically just kind of the same as what Willow said is.
Willow. Piper. Sorry.
[01:18:19] Speaker B: Piper. Willow. Nightingale.
[01:18:21] Speaker A: Piper. Willow. Nightingale. That's me.
[01:18:23] Speaker B: The babe with the puppy power.
[01:18:26] Speaker D: Babe with the puppy power is amazing.
[01:18:31] Speaker A: What Piper said was about like, you know, if you have the talent, be there. It's like, this should be a celebration of the women's division that you have.
[01:18:39] Speaker C: It's not like a 32 man tournament where you have to bring in a couple of people to pad. Like, it's what, eight teams that they already have, all but established.
[01:18:48] Speaker B: Yeah, you don't. Yeah, we don't need anything crazy.
[01:18:51] Speaker A: And then it doesn't. It doesn't need to be Battle of Los Angeles or King of Trios or anything like that.
[01:18:57] Speaker B: Like, and once they got the winners, they can bring in like some stardom people, a challenge for it or something like that. But yeah, for initial, like I said, for your inaugural champs, you want them to be homegrown people like this.
[01:19:07] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:19:10] Speaker A: So this works. And now we come to our main event.
[01:19:12] Speaker B: We still got Kyle Fletcher's little bit.
[01:19:15] Speaker C: Yes, him.
[01:19:16] Speaker A: And he had a little bit.
They just came out.
[01:19:20] Speaker B: Yeah, it was a very short little segment.
[01:19:26] Speaker A: I don't think I saw it.
[01:19:27] Speaker C: Basically, Kyle, Kyle came out and was like, I, you know, just have wrapped up a series with one of my greatest rivals, but I've got his number now and we could fight a million times and I would beat him 1 million times. And Mark comes out and is like, I don't need a million. I just need one more. One more.
[01:19:49] Speaker B: Icing his balls all week.
[01:19:51] Speaker C: He'd been icing his balls all week.
[01:19:53] Speaker B: And just like me. For real, for real.
[01:19:56] Speaker A: I've been being milked, brother.
[01:19:58] Speaker D: Someone probably, hey, don't, don't give away my, my trade secrets here.
[01:20:06] Speaker B: But this really doesn't end up being much like.
[01:20:09] Speaker D: Yeah, but no, I think it's great that. Because someone read me gushing on the Internet, I'm, I suppose about how that was like match of the year for me.
Like, finally something that's dethroned. Monet Statlander Dose, which I guess is getting run back to just to make me, you know, have to think about it again.
But like, holy crap, that was so good. And they're like, let's. Let's do it one more time for the people who didn't do the pay per view. And I'm like.
[01:20:43] Speaker C: I've got good news and bad news because the good news is that match won't be topped.
The bad news is that match won't happen because Don Callis basically said no.
[01:20:54] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:20:55] Speaker C: And they just left it at that.
[01:20:58] Speaker A: No. Oh, you're gonna believe the Heel manager.
[01:21:00] Speaker B: Yeah. But I also, like, I don't know, that whole. It was an odd segment.
[01:21:06] Speaker C: Yeah. This is where kind of reinforced, like, throughout the night that, like, aside from the, like, women's tag stuff, it just kind of felt like all the same feuds were still going on. Like, we just had a pay per view and it's like, okay, Darby and Mox are still going at it.
[01:21:24] Speaker B: Yeah, this was very much my issue.
[01:21:25] Speaker C: Yeah, the Bucks are still going at it. And now Mark and Kyle again, which, no, they're not going to, but, like, obviously, yeah, there's probably going to be something with some stakes to it.
[01:21:39] Speaker B: Yeah, it'd be nice to just see some stuff getting kind of mixed up here. Like seeing some new people against new people.
[01:21:44] Speaker A: I, I, I had the same thought, really. Like, if, like, they, Mox and Darby should have been a blow off last month.
[01:21:55] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:21:56] Speaker B: Yeah. The casket match I thought was gonna be like, the end.
[01:21:59] Speaker D: It should have been.
[01:22:00] Speaker A: And now they're just saying, like, Darby's still going to fight the Death Riders.
Like, it doesn't feel like it, it feels like we've reached endings, but, like, they don't know what to do next.
[01:22:13] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a good way about it.
[01:22:14] Speaker A: So they're just kind of in a holding pattern. Like they might not do Mox versus Dark.
[01:22:18] Speaker B: I mean, honestly, like, the women's division is doing such a better job with the stories than the men's division is right now. Like, that everything feels fresh. Everything feels like Jamie being back in the mix, it. The stuff.
[01:22:30] Speaker A: But.
[01:22:31] Speaker B: And like, yeah, there was actually another little segment. I don't know if you got this, Erica, where they go backstage and it's Renee and Mina. And Nina says she hasn't heard from Tony in a week and that Tony is very sad, but she just calls. She has named their team. The Timeless Love Bombs.
You must have missed.
[01:22:50] Speaker A: I did not see that.
[01:22:51] Speaker B: I must not have seen because then. Yeah. Tecla comes out and challenges Mina to a match on Saturday on Collision.
[01:22:58] Speaker A: Because, like, I've seen, I was watching the replay on Triller again. Maybe they cut some of that stuff out.
[01:23:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:23:05] Speaker C: Weird.
[01:23:06] Speaker B: I don't know.
Anyway, I mean, all it is is. Yeah, those two little segments. Yeah.
[01:23:11] Speaker A: Main event, AW Unified Championship Kazuchiko Okada vs Bandito. This stems from my fantasies and mostly also from the pay per view where Bandito pinned Okada, only becoming the third person in AW to have done so. I forget who else did it. I know Fletcher did.
[01:23:33] Speaker B: It was Danielson. Fletcher and Bandito.
[01:23:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:23:37] Speaker B: That's the three.
[01:23:38] Speaker D: He's not human.
[01:23:40] Speaker A: Because Okada wasn't on the roster then.
[01:23:43] Speaker B: Well, it was in an 8. It was at an AEW pay per view, though. It was a wrestle dream.
[01:23:47] Speaker A: Wasn't Was a wrestle dream. Oh, yeah. With a broken freaking ass.
[01:23:55] Speaker B: Yeah. No, it's a big accolade. And I. I mean, this is genuinely just a dream match for me. These are like two of my absolute favorite wrestlers of the last 10 years. Like, getting a good single match.
[01:24:07] Speaker A: I think this is a match people wanted to see as soon as they started doing Rodito versus Takeshita and Okada.
[01:24:14] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:24:14] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:24:15] Speaker A: I don't understand why they're letting Callous be out there. Because of the whole. I know he's on commentary, so it's.
[01:24:22] Speaker D: Not technically breaking continental rules because, like.
[01:24:25] Speaker A: Also Fletcher came out, but I don't know where he went. I guess he just went to the back.
[01:24:29] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. He just was part of the entrance and then he went back and Callous is on commentary. Guys.
[01:24:35] Speaker A: Danielson won't get a vegan milkshake with Don Callis, which, yeah, he would get.
[01:24:40] Speaker C: One with anybody, but yeah, he's like, that sounds great.
[01:24:42] Speaker B: Except for you.
I want to get a vegan milkshake with Brian Danielson. That sounds like a dream.
[01:24:49] Speaker A: Yeah. I bet he would know some good places to get some vegan food.
[01:24:52] Speaker B: No? Yeah. If anybody knows where to get a good vegan milkshake, it's Brian Danielson.
[01:24:56] Speaker D: I think you told to go get one with Utah.
[01:24:59] Speaker B: I'm willing to. I can't.
It runs right through me.
[01:25:05] Speaker C: Milk makes me gassy.
[01:25:09] Speaker A: This match has a big fight feel to it. It really does. Like, crowd is going ape before they even touch each other.
[01:25:15] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:25:16] Speaker A: And they kind of like, wrestle to a stalemate with Bandito avoiding the. The Rainmaker and then just like doing the finger gun in Okada's face.
[01:25:25] Speaker B: Oh, this was so good.
[01:25:26] Speaker A: Yeah, that was awesome.
[01:25:30] Speaker B: Okada sells it. He like.
[01:25:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:25:34] Speaker B: He'S got it going.
[01:25:36] Speaker A: I love. I love Hilo. Oh, Helocad is awesome. People like, oh, why doesn't he wrestle Joshim anymore? He's like. He does wrestle. Awesome. Calm the down throughout this match.
[01:25:46] Speaker B: Okada is like, so well. Like, he does so much with, like, facial expressions. Like, just. I love just watching him while he's wrestling because he really, like, there's a whole character and experience being, like, put through. I. I don't. I. Sometimes it does feel like he's phoning a little, but most of the time I think he over Delivers a penny.
[01:26:05] Speaker A: I think when he phones it in, his phoning it in is like, I'm not going to wrestle like every single match. Like it's the main event of Wrestle Kingdom.
[01:26:13] Speaker B: I mean, it's been said. It's, it's New Japan Roadshow tag matches for him. Like that's what they are.
[01:26:20] Speaker A: Like, what do you expect him to do?
[01:26:21] Speaker B: And like he's usually still fun.
Yeah, they kind of tried to like slap the gun, the gun away too. Like, Bandito kept the gun.
He kept trying to hit it. Like, no, get that what you do, get out of there.
[01:26:35] Speaker A: So Okada gets tossed to the outside and then he does some Metal Gear Solid and he's like on like the third. He's like three corners away. And he stealth kills Bandito, which is very impressive. I thought he, he's like beating up Bandito in front of Bandito's family.
And his mother pats Okada's hand. She's like all smiles. Is like, this is great.
[01:27:02] Speaker B: Yeah, the cute little.
Yeah. Okada's like holding the rail and she gently puts her hand on his hand. And you see Okada just start grinning and like he has to walk away.
It was the most, it was very adorable.
[01:27:17] Speaker A: It was also like his mother's like, ah, you just hit my boy there. That's fine.
[01:27:22] Speaker B: I still like you.
[01:27:26] Speaker A: We talked at catering. You're fantastic.
[01:27:29] Speaker B: Behind her was a little like five year old boy that was flipping Okada the double birds too. So I don't know, smiling at Bandito's mom or the little boy flipping him off. He gets such a grin.
[01:27:41] Speaker A: There's literally like this like this sweet interaction between Okada and like this little old.
[01:27:47] Speaker B: It's like it looks like the first middle fingers this kid's ever thrown in his life, like he's like taking a second figure it out.
[01:27:53] Speaker A: It's just like this little white kid who's like maybe six is just like leaning over, giving the hardest middle finger he possibly can to Okada.
Amazing.
Fantastic stuff. So they get to the commercial, they say that like, you know, Bandito learned a little bit and he doesn't get drop kicked while trying to come down from the top rope. But Bandito's shoulder still is a problem for him. And that's how Okada gets the advantage.
Excalibur name drops General Amis, General Lisimo Takata of Hustle and the Monster army on the commercial.
If Excalibur knows ball, he does go watch Hustle. It's the dumbest possible.
[01:28:49] Speaker B: It's Fun.
[01:28:49] Speaker A: It's like, what if, what if a Japanese promotion just did like wwe, but times a thousand. What if we hatched instead of from an egg? We get the gobbledygooker. We get akebono.
I am not kidding. What if there's just a guy who's gay and hard all the time and his name is Razor Ramon?
[01:29:15] Speaker B: Yeah, that's where it came from.
[01:29:18] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay.
[01:29:20] Speaker B: God, I used to watch so much of those YouTube videos.
[01:29:23] Speaker A: That's. That's not where he's from. He was, he was a TV personality and then he went into wrestling because he was awesome.
[01:29:33] Speaker B: But I think, yeah, as a wrestler is where he like really got the character together and.
[01:29:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
So we come back and just like Okada has just been beating the out of Bandito the whole time until Bandito gets a tornio just like awesome looking move off the top rope and then hits like a high speed tope to the outside.
[01:29:56] Speaker B: Yeah, that was a crazy dive.
[01:29:58] Speaker A: Bandito is like the most mega baby face I think aw has ever had.
[01:30:05] Speaker B: Like such good chemistry together too. It's just this whole match made me like.
[01:30:11] Speaker A: He hits that dive and he gets in front of the camera, he's like, let's go, baby.
Yes, yes, yes.
[01:30:18] Speaker B: Let's go. Bandito.
[01:30:20] Speaker A: He. He's, he's.
[01:30:22] Speaker B: I know I've mentioned it before, but like his tic tac is the most amazing thing ever because it's just him like cooking shirtless, listening to like Mexican music and then earning and dancing to the camera for a minute. And that's like the entire. It was like he'll be making eggs and then he'll pop his shirt off and just start like dancing at the camera.
That's it. There's like no wrestling. There's no matching.
It's just him dancing around.
[01:30:45] Speaker A: All right, I need to download Tick Tock. I need to download.
I need to download Tick Tock. Damn. Damn. They got you cook eggs without a shirt on.
[01:30:58] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a nice kitchen too. He's doing well.
[01:31:09] Speaker A: Jeff, you're awesome. I love you. Thank you.
Thank you for doing this podcast with us.
[01:31:14] Speaker B: It's a pleasure.
[01:31:16] Speaker D: They better be the world champ. They're world champs. I mean, come on.
[01:31:19] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:31:19] Speaker A: Anyways, anyways, Bandito so they commentary keeps bringing up that like, you know, he beat Okada on Saturday and Don's like, it was Okada and Takesh's first time teaming together and like Excalibur sounding so wounded, shouts like they beat the tag team champions in their first match together.
We Get a frog splash. Which draws Eddie Chance because they are in Texas.
[01:31:54] Speaker B: Yep. San Antonio, too. Isn't that where Eddie was from?
[01:31:57] Speaker A: I think it's from El Paso. Or is that just.
[01:31:59] Speaker B: Oh, you might be right, because it.
[01:32:01] Speaker A: Just might have been. His lasso was from El Paso.
[01:32:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:32:04] Speaker A: God, I hated that name for that movie. It's called A Cloverleaf. God damn it.
They kind of play into Bandito's shoulder injury a lot.
And he keeps trying to one arm Okada up for stuff.
So he does get the X kick and the 21 plex.
And that gets. Only gets two Okada hits. Like, he. He looks like he's going for a tombstone.
[01:32:30] Speaker B: Oh, into that. That nasty shoulder breaker.
[01:32:33] Speaker A: Yeah. But then he. Yeah, from the tombstone position, instead of just dropping him on the hedges right on his. His knee. His shoulder on his knee. And it looked as disgusting.
[01:32:42] Speaker B: Oh, there's a bit too, like, right here where Bandito, like, sets Okada up for, like, Bano gets on the top, like, he's going to do the die so that Okada can do the intercept drop kick like he did on Saturday. But then Bandido just fakes him out and Okada just drop kicks into the air and falls on his ass. I was like, that's just like, nice little evolution of, like, storytelling and remembering.
[01:33:04] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:33:05] Speaker A: It's the whole callback stuff.
[01:33:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:33:08] Speaker A: Like, Okada's. Okada is great at it.
Yeah. And I guess Bandido is too. Yeah. Bandido tries a second 21 plex, but then he gets caught with the drop kick. Like, the big drop kick.
[01:33:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:33:23] Speaker A: Then, like, he reverses the rainmaker into, like, this flying small package thing.
[01:33:28] Speaker D: That was so cool.
[01:33:29] Speaker A: That was so. It was incredibly slick.
It was a great near fall. Excalibur drops. Something about the length here he wasn't ready for. And listen, Excalibur, if you. If you are listening to the podcast, please, like, I don't know if you're.
[01:33:46] Speaker B: Listening, say something about George C. Scott. Next. Went just real subtle, like, just mention Dr. Strange Lover. So we know, like, if you want to tug on the ear part of your mask, like when it's. The camera's on, you just give us two tugs on the lobe so we know.
And then we will do nothing in return for you.
[01:34:07] Speaker D: No. Yeah, no. But also ignore that dude, the George C. Scott.
[01:34:11] Speaker A: I need the George Ski Scott.
[01:34:14] Speaker B: I'm Excalibur. Look at me.
[01:34:17] Speaker D: No, it's when Wheeler comes out. Yeah.
[01:34:22] Speaker B: All of the things we just said.
[01:34:24] Speaker A: It'S like a nightmare that, like, there's Anybody that there's anybody.
Anybody with any authority in AW is listening to this right now is like.
[01:34:33] Speaker D: No, there's like 25 to 30 of you. Yeah, yeah.
[01:34:37] Speaker B: But all of them work for AEW. There's 25 people who listen, but they're all employed.
[01:34:44] Speaker A: These quiz have great ideas.
[01:34:47] Speaker B: They listen to us and they listen to us in the break room like, I'm Tony Khan.
I listen to you on Spotify.
I can afford it.
[01:34:59] Speaker A: Book it.
[01:35:00] Speaker C: Book it. Me?
[01:35:10] Speaker A: Oh, no.
All right, so in my notes, all right, we have the length.
I'm the most vindicated woman in all of podcasting.
So Okada wipes out bandido from the corner and gets. But gets caught by a ra.
[01:35:25] Speaker B: That was really nasty though. That like run the kick the boots. He got up into the corner, like, just caught bandido and took his head off. Like.
[01:35:35] Speaker A: Is nuts. So, all right, here we get to the finish. So Bandito gets another X kick and he's going for the 21 plex. But Okada creates separation between himself. So smart as like, I didn't even see him do it. No. Yeah.
[01:35:51] Speaker B: Until the camera like cuts to the side and you're like, oh, he slipped back a little so he can't grab onto the road. Oh.
[01:35:58] Speaker A: So. So when Bandito's trying to flip over to get the bounce back off the ropes, he just lands on his feet. Okada grabs the wrist and rainmakers the out of him and that's the finish.
[01:36:10] Speaker B: Killed him. Yep.
[01:36:12] Speaker A: Great match.
[01:36:14] Speaker B: Yeah, like they talked about it on commentary how like Bandito is in the discussion for the best wrestler of 2025. And like, I cannot disagree with that because he has over delivered consistently like all year, everything he's done. Yeah, like 100.
You know, God is great in this too. Like, this was a fantastical kind of match. But yeah, Bandido, give him all the flowers.
Throw your money in the ring.
[01:36:41] Speaker A: All the money in the ring.
So Okada's music plays the. The wonderful dulcet tones of one. Okay, Rock serenade us as the Don Cows family comes out to celebrate. But here comes my husband and he is pissed.
[01:37:01] Speaker B: IWGP stands for I win, girl.
[01:37:05] Speaker A: Thank you for saying I have a.
He is.
[01:37:16] Speaker C: Sorry.
[01:37:17] Speaker B: That was too far.
[01:37:23] Speaker D: Don't never apologize for your art.
[01:37:25] Speaker A: But you know, fantastic. I feel very affirmed.
There's like, I have two sentences left. All right, so he comes out, he's pissed. Okada's or Takesh just still hot because he's pissed. Like he's just sexy and he's pissed.
[01:37:52] Speaker D: It's Your husband. You know, I'm.
[01:37:54] Speaker A: I'm dripping.
I don't give a Fletcher and Don. Cows come out to like, yeah, calm down to Kesha as they go off the air. That's the end.
[01:38:12] Speaker B: Quite, quite the stare down here.
[01:38:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
I. Oh my God. That needs to happen.
[01:38:18] Speaker B: I love that. Okada's just grinning too. He's just. Okada is.
Okada beat the person who beat Takeshita. Like because Takeshita challenge for the ROH champion and Bandito beat him and Okada just. And that was like an hour match. Okada just beat the guy who beat Bandido and half the time basically and Okada is just grinning like he just knows that he's got Takesha's go.
[01:38:43] Speaker A: It's fantastic. I. I love this feud.
I can't wait for the match. Like, I cannot wait for the match. Like, if they do not give me that match soon, I will find Tony Khan.
[01:38:54] Speaker B: Probably be. They'll probably be the finals of the Continental Classic. I imagine.
[01:39:01] Speaker A: That would be. That wouldn't.
[01:39:02] Speaker B: I mean my fantasy booking is at Wrestle Kingdom, but that's. There's issues with. I. I think it'll probably be the Continental Classic finals.
[01:39:10] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't think they'll do it.
[01:39:11] Speaker B: Doom at Worlds then. No, probably not.
[01:39:13] Speaker A: World's end. World's end. Main event would be.
[01:39:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:39:16] Speaker A: Amazing.
[01:39:17] Speaker B: I think that's very. It would be fitting.
[01:39:20] Speaker A: All right, so final thoughts on the show.
[01:39:22] Speaker B: Good show though. I thought it was a very fun show. It was nice. It wasn't three hours, I'll say that.
[01:39:29] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:39:29] Speaker A: For real.
[01:39:33] Speaker D: I enjoyed it. I had a grand time.
Okada Bandido was amazing.
Just everything. I loved everything.
[01:39:43] Speaker B: Monet segment was so full.
Yeah, we were. Yeah. I'm genuinely still laughing at it.
[01:39:50] Speaker A: That Monet segment was I. I dead serious. Think that's like at least the top three non wrestling segment in Dynamite history.
[01:40:01] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:40:01] Speaker B: Both the trios matches. Absolutely. The women's tag match. Absolutely. Joe versus Kyle. Absolutely. Like it was. This was a banger episode in my opinion.
[01:40:11] Speaker A: They were on one tonight.
[01:40:12] Speaker D: They just keep finding places to.
[01:40:15] Speaker B: Yeah. The only nitpick like and I were saying too earlier, it's just like is, you know, and we're also just kind of rerunning these feuds, like, I guess. I don't know. Like let's. Let's move on to some stuff. But like the actual. All the work was really good, to be honest.
[01:40:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:40:31] Speaker C: I'm. I'm excited to see kind of where they go with those and whether it's. It's new Stuff. Whether they do just kind of continue doing things, and those will be touched upon later.
Tune in next week to find out.
[01:40:48] Speaker A: Organ flourish it's kind of interesting that full Gear is like a placeholder pay per view.
[01:40:55] Speaker B: It's one I always forget about. I always like when I think when I gotta run them down in my mind, it's like, that's the one for some reason. Always slips through.
And it's an original Big four one too.
[01:41:06] Speaker A: What's the November pay per view? Oh, like. Like, it's like that's. I'm sure it'll be a fine show, but it's also just like.
[01:41:15] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, without a doubt.
[01:41:16] Speaker A: It does feel like they're planning to recycle a lot of. A lot of stuff. Yeah.
[01:41:24] Speaker C: We'Ll see.
[01:41:25] Speaker A: We'll see.
[01:41:29] Speaker D: Russell Dream was really good. Run it back.
[01:41:33] Speaker A: I still gotta watch it, but I. I have.
I've heard nothing but good things, so. Looking forward to it.
[01:41:41] Speaker C: And I also want to give a shout out to the little interview that Renee did with Eddie Kingston on AEW's YouTube.
[01:41:49] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, that's great.
[01:41:52] Speaker C: That was. That was really good.
[01:41:56] Speaker A: Renee's kind of the.
Renee and. And rj. RJ City are like the unsung heroes of AW right now. Like, they. They do, like, all those little.
[01:42:08] Speaker B: It's weird to think that period where AEW didn't have Renee, like, I think she's going there, like, five years now or something. Like, she came in a while after Mox. Like, she still had to finish out her contract with WWE stuff.
[01:42:22] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:42:23] Speaker D: She's just a staple, like, at this point.
[01:42:26] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. She's part of the lifeblood.
[01:42:28] Speaker A: I don't know how involved she is with, like, the actual production. I know rj, like, helps with creative.
[01:42:34] Speaker B: He did a lot with the Tony story. I know.
[01:42:36] Speaker A: But, like, Renee really holds the show together as, like, an interviewer. Yeah.
[01:42:42] Speaker B: With her teleportation powers.
Yeah.
[01:42:45] Speaker A: He's great. She shared, I think. I don't think that Tony teleported to the ring. I think she teleported him.
[01:42:50] Speaker B: Yeah. She's got Nightcrawler. Like, she's that Russian dude. Yeah.
[01:42:56] Speaker A: Bam. Why does it smell like sulfur? Renee Young.
[01:43:00] Speaker C: Renee Pet put it in the dead name Jar Dam.
[01:43:04] Speaker A: Oh.
[01:43:10] Speaker C: And just like Renee, we're gonna teleport right out of here.
[01:43:39] Speaker B: The wings go in the fryer.
[01:43:42] Speaker D: You know, I keep that up.
