Episode Transcript
[00:00:06] Speaker A: This place is cavernous. What the hell is the point of all this space just for a podcast?
[00:00:14] Speaker B: You know what else is cavernous?
[00:00:15] Speaker A: I swear to God, if you say your mom again, I will.
[00:00:19] Speaker C: Hey, old people, enough with the Family Guy bit. Look, she's got the new desk set up already.
[00:00:24] Speaker B: So is Garrett here? Do we need the duct tape again, or are we just going.
[00:00:28] Speaker D: Welcome to my new land.
Oh, God.
[00:00:32] Speaker B: God damn it, I'm stuck again.
[00:00:35] Speaker A: Did we get help?
[00:00:37] Speaker D: No, no. Just go ahead and start the pod. The tech crew will sort this out, and I'll just.
[00:00:43] Speaker B: I'll just hang out here. Doc.
[00:00:44] Speaker A: Doc.
[00:00:45] Speaker B: Well, on that note.
[00:00:53] Speaker A: In the beginning, the Earth was a dark, formless void.
But then God spoke and said, let there be wrestling.
And with that, there was Monday, and wrestling happened on Mondays. And God looked upon her works and said, holy shit, that's a lot of racism in video packages.
On the second day, God got depressed, and lo did she post about it on the DVD VR forums. And with that, there was Tuesday.
On the third day, God said, let there be Wednesday. And lo, did the people reply unto her.
We know what that means.
[00:01:42] Speaker B: Welcome to another week of Wednesday night Fake Fights, where we talk about all things aew.
We're here for a very, very fun episode.
And as always, I am one of your hosts, Jeff the Toki Mongoose. And with me, as always, are my lovely, wonderful, very talented co hosts.
[00:01:59] Speaker C: I guess I'm one of those. Hi, Pedro. Willow. She it.
[00:02:03] Speaker B: I'm gonna gas you all up every more.
[00:02:05] Speaker C: Every time, half the podcast is just.
[00:02:08] Speaker B: Gonna be just compliments.
[00:02:10] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:02:12] Speaker B: And who else is here?
[00:02:14] Speaker A: Oh, I'm Erica Warren and I she they. And I'm lovely.
[00:02:22] Speaker B: Hanging from her afters, as always.
[00:02:27] Speaker D: Do with that what you will.
[00:02:29] Speaker A: All right, I just gotta duck down a little bit as she just swings back.
[00:02:35] Speaker B: There's a bit of an OSHA thing going on here.
We are not necessarily compliant.
[00:02:42] Speaker C: Was OSHA Northwestern territory or was it a Northeastern territory?
[00:02:48] Speaker A: Shut the up.
I like how you all thought for a second.
[00:02:57] Speaker B: Took me.
[00:02:57] Speaker A: No, no, Shut the up, all right?
[00:03:01] Speaker B: Erica saved me from looking like a dumbass and being like, OSHA is occupational. And like, you work in a warehouse.
[00:03:07] Speaker C: Yeah, I violate ocean every day.
[00:03:09] Speaker B: Who am I explaining this?
[00:03:10] Speaker A: Allegedly.
[00:03:11] Speaker C: Allegedly. Allegedly.
[00:03:12] Speaker B: Nail gun tag. And so do we have any WCW we want to talk about for 10 minutes before we actually start? Dynamite this time, or can we jump right into.
[00:03:26] Speaker A: Yeah, he's still dead.
[00:03:28] Speaker C: Yay, Hogan.
[00:03:29] Speaker A: Check.
[00:03:30] Speaker C: Still dead.
[00:03:30] Speaker A: Still dead.
[00:03:35] Speaker D: Oh, I don't have the audio. Dampening up I should be quiet.
[00:03:39] Speaker A: You.
[00:03:40] Speaker C: Yeah, that might be good. Scare your neighbors yelling about, it's been what, a day.
[00:03:46] Speaker B: Last time I did my Jimmy Hart impression, the neighbors called the cops. What's going on over the.
[00:03:50] Speaker A: If I thought I heard Jimmy Card, I would call the cops too.
[00:03:53] Speaker C: Yeah, if I felt there were hearts in the walls, I'd be calling more than the cops. Probably an exorcist. Maybe two.
[00:04:00] Speaker A: Telltale heart.
[00:04:02] Speaker B: Telltale heart.
[00:04:03] Speaker A: Just. Just screaming floor with a big throat.
[00:04:08] Speaker B: It's the beating of the.
[00:04:09] Speaker A: Yeah, or.
[00:04:10] Speaker C: Or rather the Jimmy just.
[00:04:12] Speaker A: It's the screeching of the hideous gym Jimmy.
[00:04:18] Speaker B: Edgar Allen. Oh, no, brother.
[00:04:22] Speaker D: I'm trying to concentrate on getting down from up here and y' all are killing me.
[00:04:25] Speaker B: Stop.
I believe I'm gonna take the lead on this week. Gotta do the rundown as we go.
[00:04:33] Speaker A: So go for it.
[00:04:35] Speaker B: Awesome. Cool. That. Very happy to. Because this was a fun episode. We start off with Excalibur and the whole commentary crew, but we jump right into it with MJF and Hangman face to face.
They do mention that Mark Briscoe's injured MJF him up, so he's not gonna be here, so don't have to worry about run ins. But MJF and Hangman both come out crazy. Good receptions. Just a very solid back and forth between them, in my opinion.
[00:05:02] Speaker C: I agree. I thought this.
The whole segment was. Was great. I thought they're kind of. They both came in with a game plan which is really interesting to see in kind of like a promo battle instead of just it's two guys out there saying something.
[00:05:17] Speaker B: Right.
[00:05:17] Speaker C: Felt much more engaging, I guess I could say.
[00:05:21] Speaker A: It was also very in line with the story that they've been telling so far because MJF came out and just did his whole thing about like, I'm gonna try and goad you into giving me a title match, bro. And Hangman just like sh.
[00:05:37] Speaker B: Well, I like the whole like overarching theme of Hangman is the main character and MJF is the main antagonist. These are like the old school guys of AEW who are filling. Have filled these roles since the beginning. And it's just a very good like build of. I don't like. Have they ever had a singles feud before this?
[00:05:57] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:05:57] Speaker B: Did they? As I say, I cannot remember. There's a long period.
[00:06:02] Speaker A: They had like a one month feud, I want to say last year, like. Right, right. Okay.
[00:06:08] Speaker B: I think. Yeah. Because it was kind of like a prelude almost.
[00:06:11] Speaker A: Yes. It was like right before Hangman fully committed to like, going back baby face. But like.
[00:06:17] Speaker B: That's right. Yeah, they did have like a little back and forth bit for a bit there. But yeah, that kind of looks like some good set dressing for what's just some very good storytelling. Mjf, this whole thing is he wants to try and piss Hangman off so bad that Hangman will give him a match without him cashing in his title.
And which is really like, what MJF is great at. He is that guy who pisses people off.
[00:06:38] Speaker C: He's the most hated man in professional wrestling.
Not just by fans.
[00:06:43] Speaker B: And Hangman is. And his. He says Hangman is weakest when he's overly emotional. That's when he gets in over his head with that stuff. And you would think anybody could do it to bring him there. It would be mjf.
[00:06:56] Speaker A: Well, part of what the dynamic that really works for this is they've been showing that Hangman is he's matured. So, yes, he still gets angry, yes, he still gets heated. But like, he's learned to, like, you know, keep all that stuff under control. And MJF doesn't seem to realize it. So that's kind of like the levels of this is he thinks he's still.
[00:07:19] Speaker B: Dealing with Hangman from the sword feud.
[00:07:21] Speaker A: So, like, Hangman, Hangman's, if you want to talk like, character development. Character, Hangman's head, character development.
Mjf, not so much.
[00:07:31] Speaker C: Which I think kind of Hangman called out in this promo about how he has been kind of doing the same shtick most of his AEW run. Yeah, MJF has.
[00:07:42] Speaker B: I like that he called him an incel B movie actor at one point. Yeah.
[00:07:45] Speaker C: Edge Lord level incel villain routine.
[00:07:49] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, that is a great line.
Like, I always feel like a big litmus test in AEW is how somebody can go against MJF in a problem battle. It's very much a sink or swim kind of situation. And like, this just shows how good a grasp Hangman has on his character and like delivering that character through promos. Also, possibly my TAs of the night was in this segment where you kept calling MJF is calling him C. Calling Hangman Seabiscuit, you know, horse, all that. And at one point Taz just goes, it's a great race horse.
[00:08:23] Speaker C: And then says to mjf, you know how Seabiscuit's story ends, you dumbass? He wins.
Excalibur's like, he's got a good point. Thought he's like, he sure does have a great point. And TAZ is just like, hey, he was a great racehorse.
[00:08:39] Speaker A: He's a great horse. Exactly.
[00:08:41] Speaker B: He's fixated on the horse.
Yeah. Hangman gets the better of him. Crowd starts doing he's a chance like MJF is getting heated. Big shout out to the person in the front row row who had a trans people for Hangman sign that showed up numerous.
[00:08:57] Speaker A: I'm pretty sure they followed them from where were they last week? Cleveland. Is that that side?
[00:09:02] Speaker B: Yeah, I think it was.
[00:09:03] Speaker A: This is at the Cleveland Show.
[00:09:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:09:06] Speaker D: That's pretty cool.
[00:09:07] Speaker A: Cool.
[00:09:08] Speaker B: Getting to see it like in shot quite a bit. Yeah. They did what homos for Hangman was a week or two ago.
Getting all the representation in.
[00:09:19] Speaker A: Let's see.
[00:09:19] Speaker B: Yeah. JS starts talking about God at one.
[00:09:22] Speaker C: Point got very biblical.
[00:09:24] Speaker B: That was a little weird. Says neither God nor Hangman are all good.
Hangman is a fraud. MJF's gonna bring out the worst in Hangman. All that kind of calls him a weak minded, depressed, alcoholic little boy.
[00:09:36] Speaker C: MJF that MJF is. MJF is fine being the devil because at least he's real.
[00:09:43] Speaker A: It still didn't work. That's what was so awesome about this whole thing. It's like he, he's, he's, he's like trying to poke every single button and Hangman just like use the contract or get the out of my face and it worked.
[00:09:56] Speaker B: Yeah. Hangman never wa. I and I was a little, I was at points I was like oh, they're going to go this route and he's going to give him the match even without the contract. But no, Hangman stood resolute, gets MJF just pissed. Hangman says that he knows his faults like no one else and he owns on up to him. Unlike MJF just tears. MJ like just boomerangs that on him and MJF freaks out and says he's going to execute the contract at Forbidden Door where Hangman beat him at his own game.
[00:10:27] Speaker C: Got in his head the realization that MJF had after he said that and just the ah.
[00:10:36] Speaker B: Yeah, he did some great like expression act like really showing the like oh, I up starts kicking the ropes and that was great.
[00:10:44] Speaker A: This was I, I enjoyed this a lot. I, I don't think I've enjoyed an MJF promo segment this much in quite a while.
[00:10:52] Speaker B: Agreed.
Yeah, it was a perfect. He's not doing like saying offensive or anything. He's working the character, he's working the story and he's building like very organic heat doing it it's what mjf.
[00:11:06] Speaker A: Hangman's a great foil.
[00:11:08] Speaker B: Perfect. Yeah. Perfect counterbalance between them. I'm stoked for another AEW vs AEW match at Forbidden Door.
[00:11:15] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:11:17] Speaker B: I know. We'll get into that more and more, too. I almost. Part of me thinks, too, maybe hangman or maybe MJF's gonna pull a switcheroo or something and hold on to the contract and have, like, a new Japan person challenge him. But I don't feel like they would be advertising it if that was the case.
[00:11:33] Speaker A: That's a little bit too much B switch.
[00:11:35] Speaker C: He didn't sign it. I guess so.
[00:11:38] Speaker B: Well, that's. No. And that's what had it in my mind. He never actually, like, put pen to paper. He just said he's gonna do it. And how much can you trust that?
But the only way I could see them doing if it was somebody really big that he replaced him with, which, like, not great. Okon.
[00:11:54] Speaker C: They will get to later in the episode. One of the potential options is kind of taken.
[00:12:02] Speaker B: So, yeah, we start flushing the. We do flesh out Forbidden Door a little bit here.
As I say, we do a flashback to the last dynamite for Mox and Darby where Darby gets Yuta in the body bag. A little message on his head saying, Forbidden Door. I believe they made that official. That's gonna be another one. Coming up, cuts out to Max Wheeler Marina standing on a sidewalk looking badass and probably freaking out. People driving by like, they got to be setting up for a while.
Yeah, it's. It's cool. The mock's entrance. You know, it does the. Come in from the outside, comes up to the camera. He says to Darby, nothing is happening at Forbidden Door between them. So I guess it hasn't been made.
[00:12:44] Speaker C: Official, but it's obvious something will happen. Forbidden Door.
[00:12:51] Speaker A: Sam, are you okay?
[00:12:52] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm fine. What's important is that I need someone to give me an edit of Marina and Yuta in the end of the hallway and shining instead of the twins. Someone get on that.
Thank you. That was important.
Oh, and I. I got down. That's all that matters. All right. No.
[00:13:10] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:13:11] Speaker D: God, they're gonna break the equipment. I'll be right back.
[00:13:14] Speaker B: A woman's work is never done.
[00:13:15] Speaker C: Ain't that the truth, X.
Yeah.
[00:13:17] Speaker B: This is the start of Mox versus Kevin Knight. Mox faced Knight's tag team partner Speedball Mike Bailey last week and beat him. They come out. Max gets a very good hometown reception. He gets basically facetimes this entire match because he's Exactly.
[00:13:40] Speaker C: It was a really fun just looking at from a crowd perspective. It was a really funny kind of way they handled it where they're like cheering for Kevin Knight and really cheering for Mox and worrying Utah.
[00:13:59] Speaker B: Exactly. Yeah. Utah was the heel of this match.
[00:14:01] Speaker A: He was right. Everybody hates Yuta.
[00:14:04] Speaker B: There was two. Two levels of faces. And then Yuta was doing all of the heat, getting, like I said, Maria had a really cool little spot. Camera catches her like just eyeballing down the camera. And I was like, man, her aura like has just come. So I know that's a cliche term.
[00:14:18] Speaker C: No, no, no, that's a hip term. That's a hip turn, allegedly.
[00:14:22] Speaker B: That's what the kids are saying.
[00:14:24] Speaker A: Or. And height moments, Mar.
[00:14:29] Speaker B: But she's come up. Yeah. I mean, the Death Riders, if nothing else, have done an absolute wonder for Marina Shafir. Complete rehabilitation of that person for me. Get in. Kevin comes down with speedball, gets in the ring. Kevin gets an immediate jump on Mox. Starts taking him to the corner with kicks and Mox takes him back with chops. You know, they do some good fighting to the outside, just kind of building up. Then Kevin Knight hits an amazing spot where he does a run jump onto the apron. Drop kick off the apron, like takes mucks out with it. I know it's been said about a million times, but that guy can jump in the most amazing ways.
[00:15:04] Speaker A: The.
[00:15:05] Speaker C: The angle was perfect that he like just kind of like got stuck in midair and then drop kicked him. Yeah, and then they show like the top down angle.
[00:15:12] Speaker B: Yeah, he floats.
[00:15:13] Speaker C: He does. They show the top down angle and it's like, oh, no. Like he really kind of, kind of did that.
[00:15:19] Speaker A: They've come quite a long way from like the days of low key hitting. Like that satellite drop kick and like, oh, wow, look at the hesitation he gets. And like now people are doing it in mid air and not just after getting a running start.
Yeah, it's like, oh, I'm like, you know, 12ft in the air. I'm gonna do this from the ring post. Sure, that's normal.
[00:15:40] Speaker C: It's just a regular Wednesday night.
[00:15:42] Speaker A: Now that's a transition move. Ah, transition.
[00:15:47] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, the story of this match is Kevin Knight doing like crazy high spots to get some crowd pop behind him. And Mox just beating him the fuck down for even bigger crowd pops for him. Every time Kevin does, he does like a huge jump off the stage that mock sidesteps and like throws him into the guardrail with. I mean, Kevin is giving it his all year. But again, the crowd is super behind Mox. I did like, Max biting Kevin and Kevin biting. You know, getting a little gritty with it too.
[00:16:18] Speaker A: Like, I. It kind of showed a little bit of toughness for Kevin Knight's character because he's, you know, primarily a tag team guy and a high flyer guy, but he really showed, like, all right. Like, he, like they kept saying like at the start, like, oh, he. He needs to use his speed. He's got to use his agility and athleticism. He should slug it out with Mox. And he slugged it out with Mox.
And Taz was pissed at him about it because, of course, Taz is pissed about everything. But yeah, they.
He does that and he holds his own and that worked. It worked out. Like, I think that's kind of what won some of the crowd over to him. Like, they were still very pro Max, but like.
[00:17:00] Speaker B: Yeah, there was one point where the chant, the dueling chance were, let's go, Mox and Yuda sucks. Kevin wasn't even in the equation. It was just Mox and Yuda.
[00:17:09] Speaker C: It was both a you, you to chant and a U to sucks chant. And he got like, boots on Kevin Knight once. And these chants were like, even before that.
[00:17:20] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:17:21] Speaker B: Yeah. That was one of the biggest pops Kevin got was when he kicked Yuda. Like, he kicked him off the apron at one point. It's like the biggest. The crowd got behind him.
He did do. He did a. A really crazy, like, jump over splash, like over the turnbuckle at one point too, to the outside, which was insane. Like, I just. I. His athleticism is out of this world. He kind of lives and dies by it because he goes for the big UFO splash off the top. Max gets the knees up and then catches him in this, like, reverse upside down sleeper kind of thing.
[00:17:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, he had him.
[00:17:55] Speaker B: Yeah. It was a cool finish.
[00:17:57] Speaker A: It was like halfway between an alligator roll and like just like a straight up choke. It looked.
[00:18:03] Speaker B: It looks like a ground crunch answering kind of thing.
[00:18:05] Speaker D: Well, it wasn't. It wasn't it like his. His bulldog sleeper or. It was. It was a very. It was like the Dragon sleeper, like Ultimo used to do, where he's like laying them.
[00:18:14] Speaker B: Yeah. Because the bulldog choke is where it's just that straight under the neck.
[00:18:18] Speaker D: Yeah, that's just.
[00:18:19] Speaker B: That's what he usually uses. But this was like a flat down version.
[00:18:22] Speaker D: Yeah.
That's weird.
[00:18:24] Speaker A: It was. It was very interesting. I really liked it. It was a very cool finish.
[00:18:28] Speaker B: Yeah, I thought it looked Cool.
[00:18:29] Speaker A: It looks sick.
[00:18:30] Speaker B: Max holds on to it after the bell is over. Being the bad guy.
[00:18:34] Speaker D: He's the bad guy. He's what we call a.
[00:18:38] Speaker A: He was awesome in this match, though. Like I loved every. Like he, he clearly enjoys wrestling in Cincinnati.
It's like there was. We're going to London for Forbidden Door, so I can say it. He was a little cheeky.
[00:18:51] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:18:53] Speaker A: She's like swaggering around. It does does like the bow to the wrath.
[00:18:57] Speaker B: Yeah. To the rap at one point. That was a good little bit Max. I really feel like he's been on a tear of kind of. Everything's been coming together really, you know, like slightly before the Hangman match. It's all been coming together, but now that formula is just perfect now.
[00:19:10] Speaker D: I was never the person that hated on the Death Riders. They're around, around the cope of it all. I needs to get booked better. That was as far as I went. I always thought I saw what they were doing and I liked it. And I trust the Moxley because I, I. That man's like a savant. Like he's just the pro wrestling mind of a generation, in my humble opinion.
[00:19:34] Speaker B: He's a cornerstone of the company and he just. I don't know if there, there is no AEW probably without John Moxley at its present state.
[00:19:41] Speaker D: He just has a way of, of, of thinking about it that is perfect and is a breath of fresh air in his. I can't believe he spent as long as he did in the Fed and didn't have that part of him smothered like.
[00:19:56] Speaker A: Yeah. Hear him tell it.
[00:19:58] Speaker B: They tried pairing them up with potted plants and Jericho.
[00:20:01] Speaker D: Oh my God. And he had probably my favorite moment of the night. But we'll get to that later. Anyway. Oh, God. Don't drop the tube. That is of expensive cloning. I'll be right back.
[00:20:12] Speaker C: Cloning.
Anyways.
[00:20:15] Speaker A: Yeah. You haven't been paying attention to the clothing thing.
[00:20:19] Speaker B: No.
[00:20:20] Speaker A: You should listen to the pod.
[00:20:22] Speaker B: I know we got continuity here. We're gone.
Yeah. Max holds on to the joke after the bell. Speedball makes the break in comes to break it up and Death riders jumping. You and Marina get on Speedball's ass and out comes Viper's haircut.
[00:20:40] Speaker C: Yeah. That was an awful realization during this episode is Darby Allen comes out, makes the save, and all I can sit here and think is, damn, I do have a Darby Allen haircut right now, don't I?
[00:20:53] Speaker B: It's the only wrestler I've ever matched haircuts with is Chuck Taylor. We have medium.
He's the closest, like, XP to me of a pro wrestler. I feel, in general, be real until.
[00:21:05] Speaker D: I can get on the girl juice. I'm working on a Hogan, but, you know, I'm trying not to think about it.
[00:21:10] Speaker A: You got the.
[00:21:11] Speaker C: You, the Rob Van Dam going right now. Like, it's. It's still.
[00:21:14] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:21:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:21:14] Speaker D: There. Oh, hell.
[00:21:16] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:21:17] Speaker D: All right. Well, you know what that means?
[00:21:20] Speaker B: I was just gonna say. Yeah, if you're.
[00:21:21] Speaker A: It means have a nice sip of cool, clear water.
[00:21:26] Speaker D: Cool, clear, homegrown Alaskan Thunders.
[00:21:30] Speaker B: If this podcast is about anything, it's about the importance of hydration. I feel we've really, like, hammered that home every episode.
[00:21:37] Speaker C: That's a lot of asterisks and quotation marks around hydration.
[00:21:45] Speaker A: I think Craig's not a lie detector. It would explode.
[00:21:50] Speaker D: Why? Why are his eyes getting red?
[00:21:52] Speaker C: I knew he was a fed.
[00:21:54] Speaker A: Of course Craig is a fed. Yeah. Anyway, all right.
[00:21:58] Speaker D: Point being, one of a kind. All right.
[00:22:01] Speaker B: But, yeah, Darby comes in. Tax mox. Yeah. Utah attacks him. Darby whoops. Yuta puts him into the body bag that you or that Darby's kind of brought back. That was like an old gimmick thing he did for a long time that kind of dropped off. That was like an old, like, early aw in his indies and stuff, which I. It's, you know, a unique identifier. It allows for some fun.
[00:22:24] Speaker C: I'm way more into the body bag gimmick than the chloroform gimmick from the last couple weeks, so.
[00:22:28] Speaker B: Yeah, agree.
Yeah, agreed. 100.
[00:22:32] Speaker D: If anything, I can convince myself that it's a Karate Kid reference and not a I assault women reference. So, like, you know, put him in a body bag.
[00:22:44] Speaker B: Yeah, he's just calming them down.
[00:22:48] Speaker D: Like a thunder shirt.
[00:22:50] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. Thunderbag. Thunderbay.
[00:22:53] Speaker A: That's right, Wheeler. You just get a little bit, you know, anxious when people scream you at them.
[00:22:59] Speaker B: Yuta does look like an anxious dog.
[00:23:02] Speaker D: He is a yippee little. Yes.
[00:23:04] Speaker C: The crowd was right.
[00:23:06] Speaker B: Exactly. Yeah. So Darby gets him in the bag, sets up the coffin drop. Claudio sneaks in. He wasn't with the Death Riders before, but they're always working. You never know.
[00:23:16] Speaker A: Perfidious Swiss.
[00:23:19] Speaker B: Claudio grabs Darby, like, out of the coffin drop, slams the out of them, switches him and Utah out of the bag, picks. This is some crazy. I mean, it's Claudio. So he does crazy stuff, and Darby's like the ultimate crash test dummy. He has Darby in the bag, puts him up on the shoulders, and does the UFO spin. Like his old Chikara. Like, with no way. Darby has no way of seeing what's going on. Like, this is such a high trust thing for me. Like how I guess you can see. Claudio kind of, like, feels to see if he make sure he's the right way up. And he's like, okay, that's his face there.
[00:23:55] Speaker D: I'm willing to believe it's more a case of as he's zipping it in, Darby's just like, I don't give a. Yeah, kill me. Just kill me, please.
[00:24:05] Speaker A: I'm daring you to kill me. Just leave me in this bag.
[00:24:09] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:24:10] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:24:11] Speaker D: Couldn't do it.
[00:24:12] Speaker B: Swiss.
[00:24:12] Speaker D: Let's go. Maybe the Alps. Come on.
[00:24:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I saw. I saw Everest. I'm good to go now.
[00:24:18] Speaker D: Yeah. Rico Lami, your Alps ain't.
[00:24:20] Speaker B: Yeah, just create. Just. Just eats him in this bag. Like, he. Like. And I guess he. It looks like he lands okay. It's hard to know for sure, but he flops.
[00:24:31] Speaker A: Claudio was showing off on that, too.
[00:24:33] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:24:34] Speaker B: Yeah. You could tell he was proud. Having fun with that spot.
[00:24:36] Speaker A: He's like. He's running. He, like, throws his hands at. It's like I'm not even holding them any.
[00:24:42] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, I know it's been said a million times, but Claudio is a super human that is not, like, a person. No. Nobody should be able to do the things that man can do. Like, if I had full genie wish, like he is, get the physique and, like, be as strong as that. I'd probably pick Claudio Castagnoli. Just be like, I just want to lift everything.
Yeah. Claudio and you to take Darby out of the bag. Get a chair, put it on his neck. Setting up, you know, breaking his neck, because that's gonna happen.
[00:25:08] Speaker A: You're about to become the biggest face.
[00:25:09] Speaker B: Who's back?
[00:25:09] Speaker A: Oh, who's back? Another guy with a hurt neck. Yeah.
[00:25:13] Speaker B: Yeah. Everybody's hurt and nobody's heard it. And that's the story of AEW right.
[00:25:17] Speaker C: Now, more or less.
[00:25:18] Speaker B: But, yeah, it's William Osprey who sneaks out and comes in for the save. I did like that. They didn't do the Osprey music and the, like, him coming out. They had him, like, sneak out from under the ring or in the crowd or something.
It's like, it probably. You could have gotten a big pop for that, but it was cool to kind of have the surprise of it.
[00:25:37] Speaker A: I wasn't expecting him. I know that he said he'd be back before Forbidden Door, but, like, I really was not.
[00:25:42] Speaker B: He said he was hoping to be back by forbidden door. And it's like my, my dad's had tons of he has wrong with him is very bad. It is not like something you should rush through.
I mean, I guess, you know, it's John Cena coming back to the rumble six months earlier than people like it happens with wrestlers because they're super.
[00:26:02] Speaker A: It's because they're stupid. It's because they're stupid.
[00:26:04] Speaker B: More than two. Yeah.
[00:26:05] Speaker C: It's more the stubbornness than the superhumanness.
[00:26:08] Speaker B: Was it David Finley said, Flip Gordon, you're the dumbest person I know. And I know Osprey.
[00:26:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:26:18] Speaker B: That's one of my favorite wrestler quotes ever.
[00:26:20] Speaker D: Who said that? Finley's kid. Yeah, of course.
[00:26:23] Speaker B: I think it was David Finley said that to Flip Gordon. When Flip Gordon had the, like he had the map of the wildfires in America and it cut off at Canada and Flip Gordon made a post that was like. You notice how the fires stop at Canada?
What do you think that's about? It's like because that's the maps only of America says right things.
You're the dumbest person I know.
[00:26:44] Speaker D: And I know that's unreal.
I've only seen him, Ma. I've seen one match with him I think in the G1 last year.
Finley.
[00:26:55] Speaker B: Yeah. And I mean that's a whole thing.
[00:26:58] Speaker D: I. I love his dad. I. Again, here's the wcw, wwf. Here's the old person going.
[00:27:04] Speaker B: I will say I'm. I'm pro David Finley. But yeah, there's a. There's a lot of caveats to that.
[00:27:10] Speaker A: He's over in the Tokyo Dome. That's. That's all that really matters. He wrestles. He's over in Tokyo.
[00:27:16] Speaker C: Can anybody ask for more?
[00:27:17] Speaker B: Gato loves him. That's the big thing. As long as Gato loves your Euro.
[00:27:21] Speaker A: Ghetto's never up anything in his life.
[00:27:25] Speaker B: Not once. Not right now. All the time in New Japan. Sorry, but that we're gonna get out of here.
[00:27:31] Speaker C: Japan. Fake fights coming to the Fake Fights Network.
[00:27:35] Speaker A: G Stock.
[00:27:37] Speaker B: I would do it. I would do a Puro show. I would do like a Noah New Japan show. But that's all off. Airplane stuff.
Will comes. He runs off the Death Riders, gets a mic and says that he's gonna snap Mox's neck. Because Mox his neck up and. And says he's gonna get some friends and Mox is gonna get his friends and we're gonna have a lights out steel cage match.
Which.
What the is that? It's basically, I assume blood and guts in one ring because they're saving blood and guts for the women's feud going on.
[00:28:11] Speaker A: I guess like this. It seems lights out.
[00:28:13] Speaker C: Like the unsanctioned thing. That's just like.
[00:28:15] Speaker B: It's an unsanctioned man.
[00:28:16] Speaker A: It's what Hangman and Swerve did last year. That was a lights out.
[00:28:19] Speaker B: Yeah. So that's all cage matches are. No dq.
[00:28:23] Speaker A: Right. But now it's gonna be like, I can bring it. Chainsaw gone. Chainsaw gun.
Just one of these times it is gonna be.
[00:28:33] Speaker B: I mean we'll get.
We'll get into it more later too. But like it is. It ends up being a five on five, lights out steel cage match. There's gonna be. So it's not. No, as far as I can tell, no intervals. It's just gonna be all 10 people in the ring, in the cage with a bunch of weapons right from the start.
[00:28:53] Speaker C: That's gonna be a nightmare.
[00:28:55] Speaker B: Yeah, it could be amazing. Like once we especially once we get into like the people in it, but like I just don't know what it's going to look like.
[00:29:02] Speaker C: A train wreck in the best way.
[00:29:03] Speaker B: I hope so after that we have a little video package. Oh, we got Garrick has to get here. Come on, it's time. Oh, no, never mind. That's later. Sorry. Edit all this out.
[00:29:14] Speaker C: Hi, editor Piper here.
No, sorry.
[00:29:19] Speaker B: Yeah, Video package for Cope and FDA and Stoke. I thought it was jumping right to their segment after that, but it's not. We go to Mercedes Tekla and Sky Blue versus Willow Nightingale, Queen Aminata and Alex wins.
Have to do that.
Exactly.
Yeah. Mercedes comes out before the commercial break by herself. And then it comes back from the commercial break and she's still dancing to her entrance. So I'm assuming she just danced in the ring for like two minutes straight while the crowd was watching.
[00:29:56] Speaker C: And everybody loved it.
[00:29:59] Speaker B: Yeah, she still got her army of belts. It's a great look. It's very, very fun. Speaking of like really cool entrances, the drive of madness comes out next.
[00:30:09] Speaker A: That entrance was badass.
[00:30:11] Speaker B: Yeah, they got their together now. Like it is really cool. They do this thing where they all. When they get to the ropes, Tea goes in and leans back out the middle doing her weird like spider thing and Sky Blue and Julia Hart do this like lean back thing above her and they form a triangle of themselves in the ropes.
[00:30:34] Speaker C: The yell that I did in my house that I'm so glad nobody else was here to witness.
I'm just like screaming and hooting and hollering God damn. Yes.
[00:30:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:30:48] Speaker D: Women loving women. It is. We are so bad.
[00:30:55] Speaker A: That whole entrance is like girls rock kind of thing. Yeah, dude. Girls rock.
[00:31:00] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:31:02] Speaker D: Just girls rule.
Yeah.
[00:31:06] Speaker B: Then I love. They get in the ring and they do their little like witchy hand holding triangle and Mercedes sneaks into and like holds their hand and they all look at her like, what the are you. She's like, what? What? I thought that's what we were doing.
[00:31:19] Speaker A: That was cute.
[00:31:19] Speaker B: It was very fun character stuff, like showing that kind of contrast between Mercedes and the God girls. It was a lot of fun.
[00:31:27] Speaker C: And how it was like a weird. I'd seen this, I think on Blue sky it was announced or that's where I saw it at least that this was the match that was going to be happening. And I was like, that's an odd way to split up the teams and stuff. But it all worked out.
[00:31:41] Speaker B: Yeah. Julia's on the outside.
As I say, they actually all had pretty good chemistry. Yeah. After the faces come out, our champion, Toni Storm comes out too. Or. Well, she doesn't come out. She's up in the stands and she does her whole life to the I love the crowd kind of thing.
And then Athena's music plays and she's in another part of the stands doing the exact same thing. And it's fucking brilliant. I love that Athena is just like doing this mimicry of Tony. It's such a good way to disarm the gimmick and actually like kind of still get over on her own. Right.
[00:32:18] Speaker C: It was at. At this point and maybe a little earlier, like I noticed what an interesting venue they were in.
[00:32:27] Speaker A: Oh yeah?
[00:32:27] Speaker B: Yeah. With how music theater or something.
[00:32:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:32:30] Speaker C: It was like almost like a weird, like black box theater where like the. The ramp was super short. They had those little like balcony things for the champs to like sit out on and watch the match. It was a. It was a really cool spot for them to do a show in.
[00:32:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:32:46] Speaker A: Run this venue before I forget when, but I think was the last time they were in Cincinnati. But like they've done it.
[00:32:53] Speaker B: I think it's a regular Cincinnati spot.
[00:32:55] Speaker A: It's. It's very cool.
Yeah.
[00:32:58] Speaker D: It explained to me some of how. Why the crowd sounded not as loud considering how many people were there. I think it was just the kind of venue they were in.
[00:33:07] Speaker B: Yeah. That happened last week too. I feel like it really. It can come down to miking.
[00:33:13] Speaker D: It can. It really can. Like if someone whose whole thing is sound design, it all comes down to miking in a lot of ways when.
[00:33:22] Speaker B: There was the whole thing with, like, the pay per views they do in Vegas, like, they were really quiet sound every time. And you would hear, like, from, you know, see posts online from people who are in the crowd. They're like, no, we were loud as, like.
[00:33:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:34] Speaker B: I don't know why it wasn't coming through. It's like, it's very. I'm a super nitpicky person when it comes to audio with wrestling. So, like, crowd noise, all that, like, play a very big part to me. And that's one of the things I love about them doing those smaller venues, like the crazy Chicago theater and stuff like that, and the esports arena down in Texas. Like, the atmosphere just carries great.
[00:33:54] Speaker A: I can't wait for ECW Arena.
[00:33:57] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. 24, 2300, right?
[00:34:00] Speaker A: ECW Arena.
[00:34:01] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Philadelphia. That's.
[00:34:05] Speaker C: It is.
[00:34:06] Speaker B: And that's where they're doing, I think, Death Before Dishonor. Ring of Honor. They're gonna do that. Which. That's gonna be a very, very fun show. Yeah. Might actually pay for a month of Honor club for it.
[00:34:16] Speaker C: You'll get slash. We should look at tickets for that.
[00:34:21] Speaker B: Oh, you should. Yeah. Main event is Bandido versus Hechisero for the.
[00:34:25] Speaker A: Yeah, we should go.
[00:34:27] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm. I'm probably gonna. I'm hopefully gonna go to Saturday Nitro at Mall of America coming up here, and Topanga will be there.
[00:34:38] Speaker B: Our.
[00:34:38] Speaker D: Our fellow.
[00:34:39] Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
[00:34:40] Speaker B: I'm going to a GCW show next month. That'll be fun.
[00:34:43] Speaker C: Nice.
[00:34:43] Speaker D: Oh, hell yeah. Yeah, let's go. Everyone's getting some grabs. That's what's important.
[00:34:48] Speaker B: I always try and go to live wrestling is the best thing.
[00:34:51] Speaker C: It really is.
[00:34:53] Speaker B: Just. It's more fun than anything else.
[00:34:55] Speaker D: I'm gonna see a shotzi Black heart and I'm gonna be so normal about it.
[00:35:00] Speaker C: You don't have to brag.
[00:35:02] Speaker A: Yeah, we're all normal here anyway.
[00:35:10] Speaker B: Yeah, we start off well. Alex, Windsor and Sky starting off, they kind of go in and out. The Mercedes.
Aminata gets the chocolate kisses on, and Taz says, shades of Dino Bravo.
[00:35:23] Speaker A: God, that killed me.
But he learned it at the Team Taz Dojo.
[00:35:31] Speaker C: Yes, exactly.
[00:35:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:35:32] Speaker C: I'm so glad they got that in.
[00:35:33] Speaker A: Again to really hammer home what a weird, random ass. Cut that. Like, shades of. You know, it really is 2020.
[00:35:42] Speaker B: Yeah, I really. I didn't know if he meant, like, the move before that or if, you know, Bravo did do that. Allegedly, he did. All right, I'll just ask.
[00:35:49] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. I Have no reason to not trust Taz.
[00:35:52] Speaker B: We get a lot of Alex and Mercedes fighting because Alex is in the four way for the TBS title at Forbidden Door with the CMLL representative who was just recently as Persephone won that. They still haven't said the the stardom person yet, but Persephone, I think, won her match for it.
[00:36:09] Speaker A: I don't know if she had a match or if they named her, but I know that.
[00:36:12] Speaker B: Or if they said you might be. Yeah, yeah. I just. I guess I assumed it was a match, but I guess I didn't actually see anything saying that for sure. But Persephone's cool and I'm sure they'll get an amazing person from stardom. I know they're doing their like Grand Prix, their version of the G1 right now, so I'm not sure how that works with availability and all that. But get Bozilla over that big badass. Oh, yes, but bozo is crazy. But even like Izumi starting kid, it should be very fun. Yeah, heels get back in control. Going to commercial. Coming back from commercial. Willow tags in and runs wild. And Willa Nightingale is the best wrestler. I think there's nothing not to love about that woman.
[00:36:57] Speaker A: Yeah, she trucked Mercedes.
[00:36:59] Speaker D: Yeah, very much did Just TR her like, just bam. I was like, I used to play a lot of mad when I was trying to be a boy. And my immediate thought on Wednesday was, oh, well, she hit the truck stick.
[00:37:20] Speaker B: She's not the only one that gets some great offense here. I say Alex Windsor is hitting headbutts like hand him out like candy at Halloween.
But you know, Aminata's just doing all her laying in every strike harder than, you know, old all Japan.
But yeah, I really how. You know, it's a fun match, but I do feel like it's one we kind of seen a million times.
[00:37:42] Speaker C: That's kind of how I felt as well is I like everybody involved in this match and this segment. But I don't know if I really liked the match. I think it really just highlighted again the issue of. Okay, we've put three different women's programs all into one, like segment together.
[00:38:02] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
[00:38:04] Speaker C: It really doesn't let any of those breathe.
[00:38:07] Speaker B: Yeah, they're all good wrestling. I mean, like, yeah, there's another awesome spot was Willow gets all three of the heels in the corner, hits the Brody King cannonball on, like, there's tons of really, really cool stuff. Even the end, like Alex Windsor counters that sky blues code blue into the sharpshooter. It wins off that. And that was cool.
[00:38:25] Speaker C: Which I want to say the. The Windsor knot is right there.
[00:38:29] Speaker D: Yo.
[00:38:31] Speaker C: Calling it.
[00:38:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:38:32] Speaker C: The Sharpshooter or Scorpion Death.
[00:38:34] Speaker A: I'm. I'm just calling it. I'm just calling it the name.
[00:38:37] Speaker D: Of course you are.
[00:38:38] Speaker B: It's not called the Windsor. Not. Because that's really good.
[00:38:41] Speaker D: No. But they should.
[00:38:43] Speaker C: It is now. Tony. Pay me.
[00:38:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:38:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:38:46] Speaker D: Tony. Hey, Piper.
[00:38:48] Speaker B: The thing is, I should know. What if she calls it. I've watched Alex Windsor matches for years and I genuinely don't know if she has a name for her finisher.
[00:38:54] Speaker D: He has a pretty sharpshooter. So it deserves.
[00:38:57] Speaker A: I love.
[00:38:58] Speaker D: Deserves a name.
[00:38:59] Speaker B: Name.
[00:38:59] Speaker A: Seriously. The way that she transitions to get to the. The sharpshooter is really nice. I really like how it's done because she doesn't do it like Sting or Brett. She does it like a completely different way.
[00:39:12] Speaker D: That's what I'm saying.
[00:39:15] Speaker B: Is a very good wrestler.
[00:39:16] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:39:17] Speaker B: Like, I don't know if the character is quite there. Quite to that connecting level. It might be, you know, we talked about before. Might be kind of in this. It's working with Tony. But I don't know if Alex is getting over as much as a character is just.
[00:39:31] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:39:32] Speaker B: Somebody with Tony.
[00:39:33] Speaker D: She's getting a bit of rub.
[00:39:34] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:39:35] Speaker C: For sure.
[00:39:35] Speaker B: And I love the Windsor thing. But I almost wonder how far can that go?
[00:39:39] Speaker C: I don't think much farther.
[00:39:40] Speaker B: Yeah. You gotta have something to establish this person as a unique character.
[00:39:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:39:45] Speaker B: And I'm pro. I'm for. I'm not trying to, like, cut her down or anything.
[00:39:48] Speaker C: No. Which I. I have full faith in her being able to do that and develop that, like, once she is not next to Tony all the time.
[00:39:57] Speaker B: Yeah. I just don't want her to turn into like a Diana Perazzo kind of thing where it's like, yeah, she's a good wrestler, but, like, doesn't really connect with the crowd.
[00:40:06] Speaker A: Eventually she's gonna have to be on her own and be separated from Tony and. Yeah.
[00:40:11] Speaker C: Which I think will probably be better for her than being paired up with Tony right now. And that's great. So, like, I, I. Yeah. I think even greater things are in her future.
[00:40:21] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. I'm optimistic, but I'm always, you know, gotta voice those reservations and stuff. With stuff that's happening. We can't be. We're not Dave Meltzers. We can't say everything. Aew good. Because we're out.
[00:40:32] Speaker A: I mean, let's. Let's just be honest. It's like, it Takes wrestlers some time.
[00:40:36] Speaker B: I'm actually J.D. from New York.
[00:40:38] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:40:38] Speaker B: What?
[00:40:39] Speaker A: First, you're not a mongoose.
[00:40:46] Speaker B: I'm gonna lose so many listeners.
[00:40:47] Speaker A: What I was gonna say.
What I was gonna say was it take. It does take some time for wrestlers to find. I mean, look how. Look how long it took Ricochet to get his feet under him before.
[00:40:59] Speaker C: Hell, Tony Storm even.
[00:41:00] Speaker A: Yeah, Tony Storm, exactly.
[00:41:01] Speaker B: Yeah, that's true.
What was it? The Outcast for Ever under Saraya?
[00:41:08] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:41:08] Speaker B: It's just a matter of, like, getting that, you know, thing that sticks. And I. I have faith that they can do that with Alex. In the meantime, like I said, she's a fantastic wrestler. I. Every match I've watched, she's great in it. Yeah. We get Athena jumping and Tony up in the stands. They start fighting up there. The heels come down and are beaten. All the faces up. Teals beat down the faces. Athena and Tony battle down to the entrance ramp. Tony, Athena and Mercedes kind of jawjack after.
But it's kind of like Piper was saying, it's like they're cramming all these stories together as one segment. And, like, it's all people. I like.
[00:41:45] Speaker C: It's hard to keep track of. Okay, so who's in this Fatal Four way? Who's having a title match?
[00:41:52] Speaker B: Who's just Mercedes still feuding?
[00:41:55] Speaker C: Yeah, it's.
[00:41:57] Speaker D: I forget who I was. Was it you who was saying that last week? I forget what I would. My life is podcast.
Someone was talking wrestling. I think it might have been Piper last week about, like, how great. Two women's matches on. To have the advancement.
[00:42:11] Speaker B: That's the dream.
[00:42:13] Speaker D: The advancement of two separate storylines that aren't happening in the same match.
[00:42:18] Speaker C: We had talked about it last week.
[00:42:19] Speaker B: And they do it once in a while, but they. It's Tony's booking of women. I mean, is something.
[00:42:24] Speaker A: Yeah, it's. It's not great.
[00:42:27] Speaker D: It's gotten better.
[00:42:28] Speaker A: It's not great when, like, all the champions are in one feud together and like. Yes.
[00:42:34] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:42:35] Speaker A: Two different matches.
[00:42:37] Speaker B: At least they are building the women's blood and guts thing kind of on the side, too, with Megan Bain and Penelope Ford.
[00:42:45] Speaker D: I didn't think of that.
[00:42:47] Speaker A: If they do.
[00:42:48] Speaker B: Yeah, that's kind of. That's been a. That's kind of been a collision thing. More so Anna J. Mello and all them.
[00:42:54] Speaker D: I've been missing collisions, and that is a bad idea.
[00:42:58] Speaker B: But again, it would be nice if they could get both of these stories on the main show.
[00:43:03] Speaker D: Yes, exactly.
[00:43:04] Speaker A: Come on now. Put them on the show. Put them on the show.
[00:43:08] Speaker B: Athena or Tony and Alex kind of get control back and get the heels to the outside. Tony gets a mic and sets a tag match with Alex Windsor and Tony Storm versus Mercedes. And Athena in Scotland says that they better have something on under their kilts or they will bareback them all over Glasgow.
Thank you.
[00:43:29] Speaker C: Tony Star once again, just impeccable.
[00:43:33] Speaker D: Once again. We used to. Used to pray for days like this.
[00:43:40] Speaker C: Truly.
[00:43:42] Speaker B: Oh, that'll be a fun match. I mean this. Yeah. Dynamite skyline stacking up to be really cool. I'm sure that'll be a blast.
[00:43:49] Speaker C: But yet again, it's. We're just gonna slam a bunch of women in a tag match again.
Yeah, it'll be fun, but it's still frustrating.
[00:43:58] Speaker B: Very true. And it's. I mean, also with the Forbidden Door stuff, it's kind of hard to build.
Or Mercedes feud outside of just with Alex because Persephone is in Mexico and they don't know the fourth person yet. So it's. They're doing what they can to keep it going. And like I said, fun matches. Yeah. We pop backstage for Renee Paquette, who is not on this show nearly as much as last week. No teleporting.
[00:44:21] Speaker A: I think she used up her mana.
[00:44:23] Speaker C: Yeah, she's uncool now.
[00:44:24] Speaker A: She's got a way to upkeep phase so she can untap.
[00:44:28] Speaker C: Technically those are separate phases, but I'll let it pass.
[00:44:30] Speaker A: Shut the up.
[00:44:34] Speaker D: I shall never pass.
[00:44:35] Speaker B: Sorry.
Nerd calling another nerd.
[00:44:44] Speaker D: Oh, I like you nerds practically.
[00:44:46] Speaker C: They're different steps in the same.
[00:44:49] Speaker B: Will says that he made the match the lights out cage mats without asking Tony Khan. But Tony Khan loves it because baby faces.
[00:44:58] Speaker C: I do love the idea that Booker man's in the back and they do they. The talent makes a match on air in the ring and he just goes, why didn't I think of that?
[00:45:10] Speaker B: That does sound. Yeah, that sounds like a banger. Yeah.
[00:45:13] Speaker A: There's another aspect to this. It's a lights out, which means it's unsanctioned. So. Yeah, there's nothing to book, which is.
[00:45:20] Speaker D: Also kind of funny.
[00:45:21] Speaker B: Yeah. They're storming the match. They're storming the ring. Anyway, Tony can't stop him.
[00:45:25] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:45:26] Speaker B: Yeah. Will says he wants this match to be more Forbidden Door. So he says that he got the one and only the President, the ace of the universe, Hiroshi Tanahashi for his team.
[00:45:36] Speaker A: The only President. I acknowledge our man salutes to you.
[00:45:40] Speaker B: On his retirement tour. Forbidden Door is going to be his final I assume European match. Definitely his final English match.
Your tires. January next year in the Tokyo Dome. And I could see why they want to do this for it. It is a match where he can lay in the corner and sell for a bunch and cover stuff with weapons and probably do like a high fly flow off the cage. And that's gonna be like his big.
[00:46:04] Speaker C: Spot onto like nine other guys.
[00:46:07] Speaker B: Yeah, all nine guys are gonna.
[00:46:08] Speaker A: I do not. I do not want him doing anything.
If I knew Japan.
[00:46:13] Speaker B: Hey.
[00:46:14] Speaker C: Hey, Erica. I got some bad slash good news.
[00:46:18] Speaker A: What's that?
[00:46:19] Speaker C: He probably will.
[00:46:20] Speaker A: That's not news.
That hasn't happened yet. That's a prediction.
[00:46:25] Speaker B: They're gonna be so careful with it. Like I said, it's not even gonna be like the five guys on the other time they catch him. It's gonna be all nine. Like, and the ref.
[00:46:35] Speaker D: Yeah, no, you know, security will run.
[00:46:37] Speaker B: In and make like a crowd, their bodies.
[00:46:40] Speaker C: When in reality all they need is Claudio to catch him.
[00:46:43] Speaker A: Yeah, Claudio can do it, right?
[00:46:44] Speaker B: Exactly. Will catch him and throw him back up there. Yeah.
[00:46:48] Speaker D: And hit it like perfectly.
[00:46:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:50] Speaker D: And then just look at the crowd.
[00:46:51] Speaker A: Like, just like doing dunk. Just put him right back on top.
[00:46:58] Speaker B: And Renee does ask Will Ospreay about his health and his neck about, you know, him saying he's injured, not being able to. Sure if he's making. And Will, with a little hesitation, says he's fine. But to ask Renee to tell her husband, John Moxley that he wants to talk to him in Glasgow. A little inside baseball there.
[00:47:16] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:47:18] Speaker B: Dirt cheats.
[00:47:19] Speaker A: Bang the bang bang. We're shooting.
As if nobody. As if nobody knows who. Renee says, right.
[00:47:31] Speaker B: This is the last bastion. Hey, Fabe.
Who's her husband? Why would he want to talk to some guy in Glasgow? I thought he was like, with Mox.
[00:47:40] Speaker C: Some dude from catering, like, shows up next week.
His actual husband.
[00:47:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Hey, I guess Will wants to talk to you in classic. I don't know why he's not doing it now.
Fantastic. But we are on to, I mean, really, not just the highlight of the show, but the highlight of wrestling for the last 30 years.
[00:47:58] Speaker A: I would say I was. I was singing the. The Limp Bizkit highway the entire time.
Yeah. Just one more fight.
[00:48:11] Speaker B: Yeah. It's Adam. Rated R. Cope Copeland, the long name superstar versus our hero.
[00:48:22] Speaker A: Stokely Hathaway, the biggest of Stokes.
[00:48:26] Speaker B: I will say, after all these years, Metalingus still rips. Yep. Like, that is such a good entrance.
[00:48:32] Speaker A: It's a good song.
[00:48:33] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:48:34] Speaker A: They need to stop trying to queue up the crowd to sing it because they're getting worse. They're getting worse.
[00:48:39] Speaker C: That was.
[00:48:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:48:41] Speaker C: They cut to, like, five different people in the crowd who, like, knew, like.
[00:48:45] Speaker A: Ah, some of the words.
[00:48:47] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, oh, the camera's on me. I gotta.
Yeah, they did. The crowd pulled it together for the end. They got it, like, the last line or two really well.
[00:49:00] Speaker A: And.
[00:49:01] Speaker B: But, yeah, the magic's gone.
[00:49:03] Speaker D: Jericho's gone. We don't need to do this anymore.
[00:49:06] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:49:07] Speaker A: Let the crowd do it on their own. Don't queue it up.
[00:49:10] Speaker B: Yeah, no, if. If it's an authentic, organic thing that can be really cool. Like, that's one. That's. With Seth Rollins back. People would do that with his entrance.
[00:49:19] Speaker D: Or.
[00:49:20] Speaker B: Well, you know, way back when Fandango faced Jericho at WrestleMania and they just sang his song through the rest of the weekend and.
[00:49:26] Speaker C: Oh, that was fun.
[00:49:27] Speaker B: The more you try and force it, the lamer it gets.
[00:49:31] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:49:31] Speaker B: Bit awesome sign in the crowd. That was a tombstone for Stokely Hathaway that said short. He's bald. He gets no hoes. Amazing spot to, like, later on in the match where Stokely is down on the mat and the camera frames it up where that sign is up behind him.
And it looks. It genuinely looks like his tombstone.
[00:49:51] Speaker A: It's unfair. That man can get hosed.
He can get hosed.
[00:49:57] Speaker B: But I guess I should say Stokely does come. He. The FDR Music plays and plays and plays. And Adam Copeland makes them, like, what's going on? Faces. And finally, security drags Stokely Hathaway.
[00:50:14] Speaker D: While.
[00:50:14] Speaker B: He'S kick it in the air like a little kid. Yeah, Like a kid has to go to the doctor's office.
[00:50:19] Speaker C: Looney Tunes I love.
[00:50:22] Speaker B: They even drop him off and he tries to run back, and they catch him again and bring him in.
[00:50:27] Speaker A: He's so perfect.
[00:50:29] Speaker B: He's. It's just pure entertainment. A little guy. Such a naturally funny dude.
[00:50:34] Speaker D: I ranted about a bit, but, like, on the Internet. But, like, he's so. I.
Super serious. Wrestling fans, like, well, on this, I'm just like, no, this is.
[00:50:45] Speaker B: I think he's like modern day Bobby Heenan.
[00:50:48] Speaker A: He's real close.
[00:50:50] Speaker B: He really is really funny. He's great. People love to see him get his come offense. He's smart. He makes every segment better.
[00:50:57] Speaker D: And just stuff like, this was on fire. Even when, like. And then. Then it gets better because, like, not only. All right, well, not to get ahead first he tries to spear three times.
[00:51:09] Speaker B: Bounces off of him every time like a tennis ball off the garage And Cope just stares at him.
This is amazing.
[00:51:19] Speaker A: Amazing.
[00:51:20] Speaker B: Which crowd loves it, too.
And one more time.
[00:51:24] Speaker D: Yeah, one more time. The timing it takes to sell that as well as they did.
[00:51:28] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:51:29] Speaker D: To have it look like he's bouncing off of him instead of falling short, you know, like, holy.
[00:51:36] Speaker B: There.
[00:51:36] Speaker D: And then after all that, when Cope just straight up hits him.
[00:51:41] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:51:41] Speaker B: They go for the piss ball.
Yeah. They go. They kill the fist bump and Cope just sacks him in the jaw. The huge boobs. Yeah.
Yeah.
[00:51:49] Speaker D: Right.
But oh, my God, Stoke is so good and all. Everything he's doing is good. It's just that it's comedy. Like, get over it. He's doing all the same things that your serious pro wrestler is doing. He's doing the fake fight of it.
[00:52:04] Speaker A: Right.
[00:52:05] Speaker D: And he's doing it amazingly well.
[00:52:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:52:08] Speaker D: Mad that it's funny and like, it's.
[00:52:11] Speaker A: What you do to a. Like a cowardly heel manager who talks too much.
[00:52:15] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:52:16] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:52:16] Speaker A: You put Bobby Heaton in the weasel suit.
This was. This was. This was his weasel suit.
[00:52:21] Speaker C: This worked in the 60s and the 70s and the 80s and the night. Like, this is just. We're doing it again because it works.
[00:52:29] Speaker B: And Stoker's been doing this forever. He's been on the Indies, like, as that guy who pisses everyone off and gets the kicked out.
[00:52:35] Speaker D: Which is how. Is why he's got that Bobby esque ease to it too. Because that's what Bobby was doing.
[00:52:41] Speaker B: I will say, you know who else does it well is smart Mark Sterling.
[00:52:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:52:45] Speaker B: Like, I know he's more roh, but he's great at getting people to hate him and then getting the kicked out of him. And like, that's what. Aw. Like, works well. Knows how to use managers well.
[00:52:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:52:58] Speaker B: So they're always credit for.
[00:52:59] Speaker D: They do my favorite part of this match, they. I felt like it was kind of foreshadowing the inevitable end of it by the fact that, like, Cope's like, I'm gonna crowd.
[00:53:09] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:53:10] Speaker D: You know what I mean? Like, and he goes, plants are obvious.
[00:53:14] Speaker B: I will say.
[00:53:15] Speaker D: Yeah, but that. What that one guy. That.
[00:53:17] Speaker A: Right.
[00:53:18] Speaker D: That one guy was legit in the fact that I don't think Stoke knew what he was gonna say. But when he comes up, it's like, all right, what do you think of him? He's like, he's short, he's bald, he can't get.
[00:53:30] Speaker B: Yeah. He delivered it well. Yeah.
[00:53:32] Speaker D: Loses it. But then when it cuts to him, he's tried to look pained, but he's giggling like, you can tell he's like, that was great.
But the look on his face is.
[00:53:42] Speaker B: Just like, come on, man.
[00:53:44] Speaker D: Really?
[00:53:44] Speaker A: He knew he had a killer line with that. He knew that was gonna talking.
[00:53:49] Speaker D: That's Merge.
[00:53:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:53:51] Speaker C: If you can get science on next week's show, you know, you hit it. You hit it big.
[00:53:55] Speaker B: I think Tony. I think it was Tony. Shivani said. I thought he meant pantyhose, which sets Taz.
He laughs so hard.
[00:54:04] Speaker C: What is this, the 1920s.
[00:54:10] Speaker A: Excalibur with the. I don't understand what his choice in gardening implement has to do with it.
[00:54:17] Speaker C: There was another great line from Commentary where Stokely was trying to fist bump Cope, and they're talking about how he's trying to dab him up. And Cope decks Stokely in the face, and Tony is like, yeah, now stab, stomp him in the back of the head. And Taz goes, damn, Shivani. This is a family show.
[00:54:42] Speaker B: That was really good.
Wow.
[00:54:44] Speaker A: I think my favorite line out of this one was after he. He tried. After Stokely tried doing the spear the first time, he. He. It was like, oh, that didn't work. He had the right shout, he had the right momentum, but it just didn't work. He had to shout, yeah.
[00:55:03] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:55:07] Speaker B: Oh, that would have been maybe a bridge too far there. Yeah, yeah. After their crowd work, Cope gets Stokely back into the ring and spears him, which brings out ftr, who ostensibly still have their restraining order gimmick. You know, can't get within 50ft of them kind of thing. But by getting within 50ft of him, they break the restraining order, which, again, I'm not sure is how we're.
[00:55:31] Speaker A: That is not how restraining orders work.
[00:55:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't think it's instantly null and void, if you like. It's not. There's not an invisible barrier.
[00:55:38] Speaker C: Hi. As an official barred lawyer for Wrestlers Court, it is so sorry.
[00:55:45] Speaker B: Okay, fair then. Okay, that answers that.
All right, so you're our lawyer.
[00:55:49] Speaker D: That's good to know. I'm writing that down. I'm putting that in the paperwork.
[00:55:53] Speaker A: That's going in the lore now.
Piper's the lawyer.
[00:55:57] Speaker B: Cope gets on the mic and asks the crowd if he should pin Stokely. And the crowd says, no, go in. And they attack Cope. I still. Cope still feels weird to me. I'm cop. Adam rolls slightly better, but it's easier to write Cope in notes.
[00:56:14] Speaker C: That's exactly what I did.
[00:56:17] Speaker B: Yeah. FDR is beating him down. And Stokely. I believe it was Stokely. It kind of looks like a quick cut, but it hits at it. Copeland. I. Yeah, got that all screwed up now. Hits Cope with the powder. The mystery po. Manager powder.
Yokozuna. Mr. Food.
[00:56:33] Speaker A: The manager holding the cocaine for his clients.
[00:56:36] Speaker B: Exactly.
Which gives us the very rare AEW disqualification.
It's got to be, like, maybe the third one in company history.
[00:56:46] Speaker D: I'm sure there's more, but no, you think about it. Holy. You're right.
[00:56:49] Speaker B: It does not happen. I think. Aw very much does that ECW mantra of, you know, decisive finishes. But this was for the story, what we're doing with Stokely and all that. It was the right. It worked.
[00:57:01] Speaker D: I don't think anyone was expecting a.
A straight finish here.
[00:57:06] Speaker B: Yeah. Match. Yeah. As the FDR starts beating Cope down. And the crowd is chanting for Christian Cage, who does come out with Spike.
[00:57:16] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:57:17] Speaker B: Yeah. As FDR has cop all set up for the Spike pile driver to break his weak old man neck.
[00:57:24] Speaker A: Everybody's neck is in jeopardy this week.
[00:57:27] Speaker B: It's constant.
Yeah. Christian comes out and, you know, drives them off. Nick Wayne appears to attack Christian with a chair, which Christian deflects. Then Kip Sabian pops out to attack Christian, and Cope saves Christian. Y. They love each other.
[00:57:42] Speaker A: Yeah. They hung it out.
[00:57:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:57:45] Speaker A: They did not exactly hug it out, Cope.
[00:57:48] Speaker B: No. There's still some tension.
[00:57:50] Speaker A: We've gotta. We've gotta. We've gotta reel this back. Because the Internet exploded with, oh, my God, this is too soon. They sped it up. I'm like, no, no, no, no. I watched that.
[00:57:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:57:59] Speaker A: It was. It was mostly Copeland being like, ah, buddy, we're back together. And Christian's still being hesitant. We know where this is going, but.
[00:58:07] Speaker B: It'S still going to find himself.
[00:58:08] Speaker A: He's gotta find. Yes. Himself and himself.
[00:58:12] Speaker B: But it was not a. It was not a rebuke. It was not. Christian accepted the hug. I believe he hugged him back, too. But he leaves with a look on his face. He gives. He does give Cope spike, and that's when they hug it out. But, yeah, Christian leaves looking conflicted, I guess is the way I would say it.
[00:58:30] Speaker C: That's a good word for it.
[00:58:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:58:32] Speaker B: Yep. I'm glad they're not forcing this turn.
We've talked about it before where it's still. It feels like it should have been edge turning heel instead of turning Christian face after. Christian has been the dead dad mom for the last, like, however many years.
[00:58:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:58:48] Speaker B: It seems like it would be a shorter road to go. Just make add shoes into, like, kind of the. I'm, you know, super big superstar. I'm teaming back up with my Jackass body. But I'm. I'm okay with it.
He's been the worst guy in the company on and off.
Even when MJF was like a good guy, Cope was still like, yeah, your dead dad. To everybody.
[00:59:15] Speaker A: Like, his catchphrase was, I heard that your father is dead.
Yeah.
[00:59:22] Speaker B: What literally, like got this gimmick started with him making fun of Luke Perry to death. Like, I'm. I, you know, in the right thing. As long those two being back together, rounding out their career together as a tag team.
No, it is the right.
[00:59:39] Speaker A: I think it's the right one and.
[00:59:41] Speaker B: People want to see it.
[00:59:42] Speaker A: It's. It's time.
[00:59:43] Speaker B: And maybe that's what they're anticipating. Like, people want to see that. It's probably going to get a face reaction because people love Edge and Christian as a team so much. So why not just people love Christian. Like, it's wrestling. It's not that hard to turn somebody. No matter how far on the spectrum they've been. There's pretty much always that possibility. Yeah. We hit a video package showing a Gotham looking place with some like Frank Sinatra music kind of thing. Some samba, a little.
[01:00:08] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm sure, like a young person can tell us if that was like a real song by a real musician.
[01:00:12] Speaker C: Hi, resident young person here. I never heard it.
[01:00:16] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. The. The big H pops up in the sky like the bat symbol. The Hook symbol. Well, I think when they used to do it on the roof of the arenas, it just said Hook. Now it's just an H. Well, we all know.
[01:00:29] Speaker D: I think that's pretty solid.
[01:00:31] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:00:32] Speaker B: That's cold hearted.
[01:00:33] Speaker A: Hook is. Hook is coming to choke Andrew Cuomo in New York.
Oh, holy assume.
[01:00:39] Speaker D: Anyway, I was gonna say that's maybe that song was a local artist from Red Hook. You don't know.
[01:00:46] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Maybe true. Somebody will tell us.
[01:00:49] Speaker B: But yeah, Hook's been gone for a while, so then they still have some threads hanging with him in the ops. I'm intrigued to see him coming back.
[01:00:57] Speaker D: He got a little. A little bratty with. With Sensei Joe.
[01:01:02] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. That was the last we saw of him. Was some like, some tensions brewing.
[01:01:06] Speaker C: You think he still likes chips?
[01:01:07] Speaker A: I. No.
[01:01:09] Speaker B: Oh, I think he still likes chips. Yeah. He moved. He's a pretzel. He's pretzels. Now that he's a heel.
These pretzels are making me a dick.
[01:01:20] Speaker D: You're dehydrated.
[01:01:21] Speaker A: Then back to hydration.
[01:01:25] Speaker B: The message of the show. I can't drink anything because I gotta go to bed soon. If I'm old and I'll have to wake up and pee. Yeah. I have. I have a. Liquids cut off because I like to sleep through the night.
[01:01:36] Speaker A: Rubber sheets for a dog.
[01:01:38] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:01:39] Speaker A: God damn it.
Sorry.
[01:01:44] Speaker D: So disappointed.
[01:01:46] Speaker B: I'll stick with the pens. Yeah.
[01:01:50] Speaker A: Pee jokes.
[01:01:51] Speaker B: But anyway, we are on to.
To me, what to me is like. The match I was most excited for it is the Young Bucks with Kyle Fletcher and Josh Alexander versus Brody King, Komohiro Ishi, Hologram and a mystery New Japan wrestler. Even though it's pretty obvious it's not gonna be any of the heavyweights because they had a G1 show the same day.
[01:02:13] Speaker D: Oh, my instant thought, though, was when the first three came out, I was like, it's like three of the best boys.
[01:02:20] Speaker B: Yay.
[01:02:22] Speaker A: This is conglomerating.
[01:02:23] Speaker B: This feels Conglomerate Brody is not an official Conglomeration number.
[01:02:28] Speaker D: No.
[01:02:28] Speaker B: This is his first time with Ishi. And hologram are. Hell yeah.
[01:02:32] Speaker D: But also.
[01:02:33] Speaker B: Yeah. My understanding, the Conglomeration is a loose thing. It's a really, like. Yeah. It's not a defined faction.
The Costco guys are in the Conglomerate.
[01:02:42] Speaker A: Yeah, they're Conglomerate.
[01:02:44] Speaker B: Yeah. The Rizzler is a member of the Conglomeration. Anybody can be.
[01:02:47] Speaker A: That's why it's loose. It's they. They Conglomerate.
[01:02:49] Speaker C: They had the graphic where it was just a, like, blank, like, who could this be? Thing. And seeing, like, Ishii there with the rest of them, I was like, man, I hope it's the Rizzler.
[01:03:01] Speaker B: Comes out. It gets launched like a torpedo.
[01:03:04] Speaker D: Someone's gotta toss that kid.
[01:03:06] Speaker C: Brody King could just throw him at the.
At the buck.
[01:03:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:03:10] Speaker D: Ultimate basketball.
[01:03:12] Speaker B: They do the hornswoggle spot where they hit him in the head with a trash can.
I big. I mean, big. Justice did take that bump off Trent at the last pay per view. It shoved his little ass down on the ground like kids are. They're bumping.
[01:03:27] Speaker D: They're. They're get.
[01:03:28] Speaker B: They're.
[01:03:28] Speaker D: They're gonna get that kid bumping that. You like that kid. That kid's got a future, I think.
[01:03:35] Speaker C: Get him down to the AEW Power Plant.
[01:03:39] Speaker B: Is the Monster Factory still the thing? QT Marshall will whip him into shape.
[01:03:43] Speaker D: The Nightmare Factory.
[01:03:45] Speaker B: Oh, God. Yeah.
[01:03:47] Speaker D: Oh, God.
[01:03:47] Speaker B: We got to talk about the Bucks entrance.
Their fall from grace. The random pyro goes off with no. But nothing else happening. The announcer gets out and says they don't have any music for the bucks. They don't even. They just say they don't have any. And great.
[01:04:05] Speaker C: They just stumble out like, what the.
[01:04:07] Speaker A: Like.
[01:04:12] Speaker B: They bring back their old backyard rest. This is some, like, deep young bucks lore. Mystery inside. Re or Mr. Instant Replay and Slick Nick. Their very first wrestling names. California backyard.
[01:04:25] Speaker A: That's how you know he. Nick was just, like, the most annoying kid. He's like, I want to be slick Nick.
[01:04:31] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:04:32] Speaker B: Mr. Instant Replay is not that much better.
[01:04:35] Speaker A: He gave himself that nickname.
He called himself that outside of wrestling.
[01:04:40] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:04:43] Speaker A: Shut the up, Nick.
[01:04:45] Speaker D: This. This led to my Taz of the night, though, when the crowd started chanting jobbers at them, and he just yells out, jwood Jones over here. No. Like, don't know.
I'm just like, no, dude, you can't.
[01:05:01] Speaker B: No, you can't do that. No.
[01:05:04] Speaker D: The jobber is not a slur, but maybe it could be.
[01:05:08] Speaker B: Yeah. If Taz did not like that.
[01:05:10] Speaker A: I think the more Taz sells it, the more I'm like.
[01:05:16] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. The more.
[01:05:17] Speaker D: Like, this makes me uncomfortable. But also, should Jobber be a slayer?
No.
[01:05:24] Speaker C: In this episode, we're gonna talk about.
[01:05:27] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:05:28] Speaker B: We're getting deep with it.
[01:05:30] Speaker A: Is Jobber a slur, the greatest threat.
[01:05:32] Speaker C: In the history Jobber Brony, we're here to talk about slurs in wrestling.
[01:05:38] Speaker D: I don't want to get canceled. I'm gonna go check on the lab.
[01:05:42] Speaker B: That's very fair. That's probably the smartest move of the night.
Yeah. The Bucks get in Justin Roberts face in the ring because he's been clowning on him non stop. And Kyle and Fletcher come out, and.
[01:05:55] Speaker C: They don't forget they get introduced by Justin Roberts's. These guys.
[01:05:58] Speaker A: These guys.
[01:05:59] Speaker B: These guys. Oh, that's. Yeah. Because they. That's why I haven't written down here. Yeah. Joining these guys doesn't even say their names. Games. That's what gets the books in their face.
Yeah. We get our conglomeration in Brody members. And the mystery man is Hiromu from New Japan.
I love Hiromu Takahashi. He is one I. All my favorite wrestlers have never seen.
[01:06:23] Speaker C: This man before in my life.
[01:06:25] Speaker B: Oh, he's fantastic. He's genuinely, like, the coolest person from New Japan probably.
[01:06:31] Speaker C: Now, the night I was gone, the Titan Tron hit. And I said, I don't know this name. And then he walked out and I said, I get it. And I'm all about him.
[01:06:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:06:42] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Wait till you see, like, I. I can't wait to see what entrance gear he comes up with for Forbidden Door.
[01:06:48] Speaker B: Yeah, he has some very, like, cool styles.
[01:06:51] Speaker A: His Tokyo Dome stuff was like. He was like, in a.
[01:06:54] Speaker B: The one with the Eyes is one.
[01:06:55] Speaker A: Of my teddy bear, cat suit thing. It was weird.
[01:06:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:06:58] Speaker C: Hell, yeah.
[01:06:59] Speaker B: Yeah. He's a very, like. I. Punk rock has always kind of been like, the background theme of him, but he's also just insane. Like, there's a whole thing where he had a stuffed cat that was like his best friend that would come out with him. And he started calling Will Ospreay Daryl.
[01:07:18] Speaker A: Yeah, Daryl. Daryl Takahashi was his son, I believe.
[01:07:21] Speaker B: Yes. He had a feud with Will Ospreay where he kept calling Will Ospreay a cat. To the point. Osprey painted whiskers on his face for a match. Like, he's just a very weird, funny dude, but who can back it up in the ring?
[01:07:34] Speaker C: I'm excited to see him more as we will.
[01:07:38] Speaker B: He's one. He's somebody that has not been involved in Forbidden Door stuff, I don't think at all. I think he was supposed to at one point and got injured.
[01:07:45] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:07:46] Speaker B: He has not had any AEW crossover stuff.
[01:07:48] Speaker A: He's had neck injuries last. Well, 20. 20. He injured his.
[01:07:55] Speaker B: Yeah, I was gonna say 20. Was it the. The wrestle can't. Dragon Lee broke his neck.
[01:07:59] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:07:59] Speaker B: One of the wrestle kingdoms.
[01:08:01] Speaker A: He kind of hasn't been quite the same wrestler since then, but, like, his.
[01:08:06] Speaker B: Enthusiasm carries it, though.
[01:08:07] Speaker A: Yeah, he's still. He can still move pretty quick.
[01:08:10] Speaker B: Yeah, that pretty. The stuff before that, he was like, one of the.
Just out of this world.
[01:08:14] Speaker A: He was bumping like crazy tonight, so I'll give him credit for that.
[01:08:18] Speaker B: Yeah. But he's somebody that people have been clamoring for to be involved in aew, to be in the Forbidden door thing for a long time. So it's a very cool moment having him come out saying they get in quickly. Everyone brawls to the outside, the Bucks corner, Justin Roberts and kind of tease super kick at him, like, fake out. And then they just nail him in the face with super kicks and.
[01:08:40] Speaker C: Yo.
[01:08:40] Speaker A: And he died.
[01:08:41] Speaker B: Yep. He crumbles.
Like, he settled that. Like.
[01:08:48] Speaker C: He was.
He died for the rest of the episode.
[01:08:52] Speaker B: Yeah. No, he's. He's gone after this.
[01:08:54] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:08:55] Speaker C: To the point where Tony Schiavone had to do.
[01:08:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
Props to Justin Roberts for getting kicked in the face really hard.
Say hologram hits a big old dive and go to commercial where during commercial.
[01:09:09] Speaker C: Break, they're just the actual line of the night. This is not a task of the week. It's Excalibur is an Excalibur of the week, where he says, Justin Roberts is up to a seated position.
He appears to Be leaking from both ends.
[01:09:25] Speaker A: And then the booth just goes silent. There's like a. Oh, yeah. Laughing. And then you just.
[01:09:33] Speaker C: You can see Taz, like, duck down under the table.
[01:09:39] Speaker A: It's like a whole, like 90 seconds of them just trying, like, corpsing bad for the man.
[01:09:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:09:48] Speaker A: Like right at the end, Taz guests for breath again.
[01:09:52] Speaker D: It's. It's straight up. The Botchamania. It's the Botchamania bit where, like everyone just goes and just ease and just dies. Yeah.
[01:10:00] Speaker A: Like, yeah, yeah.
[01:10:05] Speaker B: Just. Yeah, yeah. The laugh alone to me was a task of the week. Yeah.
[01:10:10] Speaker D: That was not my line of the night.
[01:10:13] Speaker B: No, Mine, I still think was the sea biscuit one.
We get back from commercial break. Kyle's in control and tags out only for Brody to get in and kill everybody. Because Brody is amazing. Big giant monster murder, man. It's wildly, wildly over, big boy. On the yeah. Announcements, Tony Schiavone says that Tony Khan has fined the Bucks $10,000 each and that Tony Schiavone is going to be doing the ring announcing for the rest of the night because Justin Roberts is dead.
[01:10:51] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:10:52] Speaker B: He is in no position to ring announce anymore.
They do a very cool spot with Josh. Alexander traps Brody's arms. Brody's on the apron, and Josh is inside. And the young Bucks super kick both sides of Brody's.
[01:11:04] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. This was sick.
[01:11:05] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, I do have another task where he's talking about the Bucks and he says something like, tony Schiavone calls them bullies. And Taz goes, holy smoley. How about that? I don't even know what that means.
Yeah. We got Ishi running wild being one of the best wrestlers in the world. Like, it's just crazy how everything he does is amazing.
[01:11:27] Speaker D: I love him.
[01:11:28] Speaker B: So he's great. I mean, that's. I think he's probably the most consistent in ring. Like him and Claudio are my two where I'm like, it's gonna be a good match if they're in there. You can't deny Hiromu getting back. Actually getting some shine. Taking Fletcher out.
Crazy ass 450s from hologram. A lot of. Just very fun. This is another, like kind of PWG style crazy multi man tag like they've.
[01:11:52] Speaker D: Been doing Brody's doing. Crazy. Yeah.
[01:11:55] Speaker C: Everybody gets their stuff in.
[01:11:57] Speaker D: Tony Shabat. Was it Shaban? Yeah, it was. Shivani, I think, ironically, is starting to get on the train that I have been conducting for quite a while now of Hologram, the new Goldberg. Let's go, hologram.
[01:12:13] Speaker B: Hologram is 30 0.
[01:12:14] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:12:15] Speaker B: He is not defeated in AEW for 30 matches.
[01:12:18] Speaker D: 30, you know, but yeah, no Shivs. Was like, he's 29 and nothing. He kept talking about he's undefeated.
[01:12:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:12:24] Speaker D: Brought it up, like, three times. I was like, are you. Y' all listening? Y' all listen to the.
Y'.
[01:12:30] Speaker B: All.
[01:12:30] Speaker D: Y' all watching my social feed and you see. See my. My merch. Please don't come.
[01:12:34] Speaker A: I know he's talked about it on Collision. He hasn't named, like, the actual number of.
[01:12:39] Speaker B: No, but.
[01:12:40] Speaker C: Yeah, it's been gonna be 42 come next week if he's following Goldberg.
[01:12:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
Inflated Every. He's at 140, 200 by the end of the year.
[01:12:52] Speaker D: Mordos's.
Yes.
Mordos is.
Yes.
[01:12:58] Speaker B: It does pay to be Tony Khan's, like, pet project. Hologram is, like, his childhood wrestling character. He came up.
[01:13:04] Speaker D: Really?
[01:13:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:13:05] Speaker C: I didn't know that.
[01:13:06] Speaker B: Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was like, a design he drew back when he was, like, a kid. And that's.
[01:13:10] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:13:10] Speaker C: That's awesome.
[01:13:11] Speaker B: Yeah. Because I think I want to say hologram is. He was. Aramis was his name on, like, the lucha scene. He did a bunch of PWG stuff. And.
[01:13:20] Speaker C: Okay, yeah.
[01:13:21] Speaker B: Absolutely amazing wrestler. And, yeah, Tony picked him to be, like, his guy.
[01:13:25] Speaker D: I had no idea.
[01:13:27] Speaker B: The whole presentation, the H thing, that was like, Tony's like, you know, lucha character he came up with way back in the day.
[01:13:33] Speaker D: That. No, that makes so much sense because it feels like something a kid would draw up. Like a superhero. Like a Lucha superhero.
[01:13:41] Speaker B: Yeah, the H. Like, and, like, the.
[01:13:44] Speaker D: Powers and all the vignettes, and. And I was just, like, this sick. This is very, like, feels like almost New Japan, like they do, where they're like something pop culture to, like, really be your character. But something completely made the up. And I'm like, this is all weird and surreal in a way that. Thank you for giving me that information, Jeff, because that brings it all together. And I love.
[01:14:05] Speaker B: And they've done a great job with the hologram. I mean, that's. He's super over every time. They debuted him with that residency down at the esports arena, where they did, like, four or five collisions in a row down in Texas, where they. People got behind him and, like, he really felt like a big deal and that they succeeded in carrying that over even when they went to other venues. And he's amazing. Like, the dude is great. He does crazy every time.
[01:14:30] Speaker D: 8,625,000,400 of us on a TH000 dead luchas. Yes. Like just yes.
Available at Garrick Taylor shop dot com.
[01:14:41] Speaker B: At some point, I think it's Tony said tells Taz to get a room and Taz says I have a room. And I don't know. I don't have the contest written down, but I remember that killing me.
[01:14:51] Speaker A: Oh yeah. Because he was. It's a love fest for the Bucks.
[01:14:55] Speaker B: Bucks. Yeah, yeah. Get a room. I have a room.
[01:14:57] Speaker A: I have.
[01:15:00] Speaker D: Taz has been with this Bucks thing in particular. J Word Jones.
He's been really leaning into the heel commentator, the sycophant. Yeah.
[01:15:13] Speaker A: Holy.
[01:15:14] Speaker D: I'm here for it.
[01:15:15] Speaker B: It' so good. It's just. It's great stuff him being the. The Bucks last soldier. The only person in the company who's who still respects them.
[01:15:24] Speaker D: I'm gonna call him Matthew and Nicholas. Yeah.
[01:15:29] Speaker A: And he was even particularly on their side before.
[01:15:32] Speaker B: No. Yeah. It was really only after everyone else during. He loves an under underdog.
[01:15:37] Speaker D: That's what makes it so good to me.
That's the point.
[01:15:41] Speaker B: There's one point where he tells Excalibur their name's Matthew and Nicholas. And I. Excalibur goes, yeah, maybe on their driver's license.
[01:15:48] Speaker C: They come out in black and orange gear and yeah.
[01:15:51] Speaker D: Oh my God.
[01:15:52] Speaker A: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:15:53] Speaker C: Excalibur's like, you gonna rag on them for wearing. Wearing black and orange. And Taz is like, no, I would never. And Shivani's like, I wore an orange wristband for this show and you've been on my case all day.
Taz is like, yeah, but I didn't get a job from you.
[01:16:11] Speaker B: I don't have a job because of you.
That's good point. I can't fault him there.
[01:16:14] Speaker D: Yeah, that's a solid point.
[01:16:16] Speaker A: Sure.
[01:16:18] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:16:18] Speaker B: We get just more crazy hologram doing just nuts flip reversals.
Hiromu gets a hot tag and clean's house hitting the big Horomo Chan bomber. Lariats really just.
He gets a very good chance to show out here. You can tell the crowd doesn't quite know who he is, but they're receptive to him.
[01:16:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:16:38] Speaker B: He's not getting as big reactions as like Brody is because you know, it's AEW and this is her own first time. But he's showing out. He gets a really good kick out spot after the heels just beat the out of them. And you can tell they're building to heromu versus Kyle is going to be the forbidden door match. They get a lot of back and forth sequences.
Kyle said he wanted to face the best pound For Pound wrestler from New Japan for the Forbidden Door title. And this surprise was pretty clear that it was going to be whoever the surprise person was.
[01:17:09] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:17:09] Speaker B: It ends with hologram does a insane ass dive to the outside and takes everybody out. Hiromo hits Josh Alexander with his time bomb finisher and gets the win, which again, I thought, great match. That's. I love these big crazy multi man matches they do every week.
[01:17:26] Speaker A: They.
[01:17:26] Speaker C: They do them well.
[01:17:28] Speaker B: You can tell, like, Tony is a fan of pro wrestling Gorilla and those old roh like bucks. Mid 2000, 2000 and tens kind of stuff.
[01:17:37] Speaker C: Oh, it helps that he has all Those people from mid 2010s. PWG.
[01:17:42] Speaker B: Exactly.
[01:17:42] Speaker C: Do it again a decade later.
[01:17:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:17:44] Speaker A: I think what I liked about best about the end of this match was like Hiromu acting like, ah, I did it. Like, just like, like, oh, he goes like, you've won Tokyo Dome matches.
[01:17:56] Speaker B: Yeah. No, he sold the victory. He runs up to the ropes and he's screwed.
[01:17:59] Speaker A: Like, he's trying.
[01:18:00] Speaker B: He really is, like getting the energy of it over.
[01:18:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:18:03] Speaker B: You can tell he wants to make the most of this opportunity with like a western audience.
[01:18:08] Speaker A: And that's really just like his character as well.
Yes. I've done the greatest thing ever.
[01:18:14] Speaker B: I think of, like New Japan people right now too. He probably has the best crossover potential to American audiences out of probably any of the Japanese outside of maybe like El Desperado, like the other big junior Ace.
[01:18:27] Speaker A: He's flashy, he's weird. He'll get over.
[01:18:30] Speaker B: It's a distinct character. He's charismatic, he's funny, he's good in the ring. Yeah.
[01:18:36] Speaker C: Like I said, I got him instantly when he came out.
[01:18:40] Speaker B: No, exactly.
[01:18:42] Speaker A: They do need to get desperate.
[01:18:43] Speaker B: Yeah. And that's. I figured it would be one of those two once I realized it wasn't gonna be the heavyweights because those are the two. I wasn't sure about her moment because he's been doing no Noah stuff lately and I didn't know if that would conflict, but looks. Looks like they're making it work. And I think him and Fletcher are gonna have a killer match.
Like, Kyle is at the peak of his career, you know, current peak of his career. And Tim and promo is just gonna probably let him kill him. Like. Yeah, yeah. We're filling out the card. We get go out to commercials. We come back to Renee having microphone problems.
[01:19:16] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:19:20] Speaker D: I was gonna say, as is true.
[01:19:22] Speaker B: Tradition, they go to the announcers who kind of kill time for a sec. And finally Renee gets her stuff going. And she introduces Swerve Strickland to come to the ring. She comes out with the big old, you know, big Swerve entrance. Everybody's singing N not dancing. Renee says that she saw Swerve speaking to the doctors earlier and asked if he's cleared. Everybody is hurt in this right now. Yeah, it is just various level.
[01:19:48] Speaker C: Can AEW take, like, two weeks off for everybody to.
[01:19:53] Speaker A: Yeah, they just.
[01:19:54] Speaker B: They should just film that Christmas story adaptation they were doing, actually put that out, give people a little break.
But yes, we said. Doesn't answer. Really. He says he's tough and he's focused on Okada and London, which brings out Okada, who has an amazing suit that looks so cool.
[01:20:12] Speaker C: Like, I thought the opposite.
[01:20:14] Speaker B: You didn't like that?
[01:20:15] Speaker C: I thought that was ugly as sin.
[01:20:18] Speaker B: I also have horrible fashion sense, but.
[01:20:20] Speaker C: I.
I have a lot of leeway in what I find acceptable for fashion. But it looks like he cut up like a, you know, 1970s couch and wore that out. And it was also fit for, like, his dad. Like, he looked wearing his dad's, like, shitty suit.
[01:20:38] Speaker A: Oh, no, see that, like, that's. That's where you're wrong because it was his dad's suit. His dad's suit probably would have been tight as it, like, just too small. But, like, it, it. It very much had the energy of a 90s Japanese star. I have to go to, like, the Champions Carnival G1 press conference.
[01:20:54] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:20:55] Speaker A: I need something to wear. This is trendy.
[01:20:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Okada comes out. He says Swerve has no chance with his knee and he should just give up. Swerve does the who's house in his face. Okada calls him a Swerve, shoves him down.
That's it.
[01:21:10] Speaker C: Okada comes out, leaves.
[01:21:13] Speaker A: Yeah, it's fun.
[01:21:15] Speaker B: This was kind of the weakest segment of the show, in my opinion. It wasn't really much of anything. I'm excited for the match. I'm sure it's gonna absolutely rip and there's a good cornerstone of the card.
[01:21:24] Speaker A: But, like, I was very surprised that they were even doing the segment after last week, because last year. Right. Last week's was flat and.
[01:21:34] Speaker B: Yeah. And it's just like, you don't need to really sell this match. It's Swerve versus Okada.
[01:21:39] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:21:39] Speaker B: People want to see that because they're the two. Two of the best wrestlers in the world.
[01:21:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Like this, this one, this. I guess they. They just wanted to put them together to show them together.
[01:21:48] Speaker C: Yeah, totally. They really needed to.
[01:21:50] Speaker B: And the show in General I guess it's like moving forward to Forbidden Door. So they probably want to keep it fresh in people's minds and stuff.
[01:21:57] Speaker C: But you could have done with like this time and like, one other promo's time. A women's match had another women's match.
[01:22:04] Speaker B: Yeah, I agree. I agree. We go backstage for Mox. Walking around Elisa or whoever the other announcer is comes up and at tells him that the Will Osprey's team has Tanahashi.
[01:22:19] Speaker A: This was awesome.
[01:22:24] Speaker B: Mox is another one of his great. Just funny little bits. He's been doing, like, so much personality.
[01:22:29] Speaker C: And characters just the quietest.
[01:22:36] Speaker A: They got Tanahashi Hiroshi. Tanahashi.
[01:22:39] Speaker D: They got Tanahashi.
[01:22:41] Speaker C: You're telling me. They got Kanahashi Hiroshi.
[01:22:45] Speaker B: Like, it's another Tanashi.
[01:22:49] Speaker A: Thank you very much. Is that the edit?
[01:22:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:22:51] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:22:51] Speaker A: Thank you very much.
[01:22:54] Speaker D: Oh, my God.
[01:22:55] Speaker B: It really was little, like, personality things Max has been doing lately. That's so good.
[01:23:00] Speaker D: I don't know if it's because I've been watching like, Scorsese mob films while packing for some reason. Hit me right in the spot and I was just like, that's my line of the night. You're telling me they got Tanahashi.
[01:23:14] Speaker B: Quickly. Like, thanks. He doesn't really. He's just like, oh, yeah, thank you.
[01:23:18] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:23:18] Speaker B: He goes to the extra. The extras are real.
[01:23:21] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:23:23] Speaker B: Opens it up and there's a couple jobbers visible in that rest home. To get the out of there. They open the door wider and sit in the extras room are the young bucks. Max goes in to talk to him. They shut the door.
[01:23:34] Speaker A: That's kind of up. The extras don't get an actual locker room.
[01:23:39] Speaker B: They call them extras.
[01:23:41] Speaker C: They have a locker room they just all have to share.
[01:23:43] Speaker B: Not even Jobber. Like, oh, jobbers is almost better than extras. At least you're still a wrestler.
[01:23:48] Speaker A: Yeah, that was.
[01:23:50] Speaker B: That was this sounds like they're getting paid 50 bucks. Like it getting bumped.
[01:23:54] Speaker C: They got a hot dog and a handshake to work.
[01:23:56] Speaker A: AEW AW is dying. They can't play there.
[01:24:02] Speaker D: Hey, that's probably the best night Mr. Instant Replay has ever had.
Oh, my God.
[01:24:11] Speaker B: Leading from that, we get the official. A couple official announcements for Forbidden Door. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are back together for the first time since 2011 as a tag team. Let's go be facing Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian. And Kip Sabian is getting a pay per view payday.
Yeah, we've all that time in the box. He finally earned it.
[01:24:33] Speaker D: Look, Kip Sabian's box gimmick is one of them.
[01:24:37] Speaker B: Sabian. I really have no problem with him.
[01:24:38] Speaker C: Hey, I think with that last run, Christian was the one getting in the box.
[01:24:50] Speaker D: Nick Wayne's mom has got it going on.
[01:24:54] Speaker C: His dad's dead and I don't even care.
[01:25:00] Speaker B: But the other big match announcement is the finalization of the lights out cage match. And it's combatants. We have the Death Riders, the Young Bucks, and a returning Gabe Kid who was injured on the first night of G1 climax action.
[01:25:11] Speaker A: But that's right. I forgot that.
[01:25:13] Speaker B: Yeah. He missed the entire tournament outside of the first match.
[01:25:16] Speaker C: Is everybody in New Japan hurt too?
[01:25:18] Speaker B: Yes, they're all damn. Yeah. Was it Takashi, I think in that first match that hurt him?
[01:25:23] Speaker A: Yeah. It was actually a Takesha. He got hurt into Takesh. In Takesh.
[01:25:26] Speaker B: Yeah. Not so Takeshita hurt him, but it was.
[01:25:28] Speaker A: Oh, but oh, my husband hurt that. That wily, as they say.
[01:25:35] Speaker D: My husband injured that man.
[01:25:37] Speaker B: Takesha is into the semis and the G1 too. Like, he's been the highlight of the tournament for him.
[01:25:42] Speaker A: I would like him to win since ue more is not good.
[01:25:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:25:45] Speaker A: But yeah, I digress.
[01:25:46] Speaker B: You'll probably be evil.
[01:25:47] Speaker C: I had to bring our trophy home for you.
[01:25:49] Speaker A: I will. I will shoot myself in the foot on camera.
[01:25:54] Speaker B: Rick Gato's name on your foot and then shoot it.
[01:25:56] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:25:59] Speaker D: If it can't be Eddie Kingston, then yes, I would like for it to be Takeshita.
[01:26:03] Speaker B: Yeah. On the face side of the lights out cage match, we have Darby and Will, which we knew. Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Yep. The Golden Lovers, Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi just confirmed he just signed a two year extension with aew. Who's gonna be wrestling with them? At least till he's 45 years old.
[01:26:22] Speaker A: Shower off the top of the cage.
[01:26:24] Speaker B: Holy.
[01:26:25] Speaker D: How old will his ankles be?
[01:26:27] Speaker B: 700.
[01:26:30] Speaker C: How old is dust?
[01:26:32] Speaker D: 60. He just got done. Wrestling title.
[01:26:36] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Everybody in the face side except Darby is hurt. Will is up, Ibushi's up, Tanahashi's up, and Kenny is up.
[01:26:44] Speaker D: Everyone but the one guy. I want to be pain.
[01:26:49] Speaker B: But like we were saying before, I think this is a great match to. It's getting all these stars in there and they're able to do weapon shenanigans they're able to sell for long periods of time. Like there's enough people that they can keep stuff going without too much pressure on any of these poor, frail, old, injured bodies.
[01:27:05] Speaker A: And like, it's really, it's. It's meant to Just be like a big spectacle thing. It's like a get as many people card as possible. Get Gabe kid on the card.
[01:27:13] Speaker B: Got to have a plunder match. I know. It's. I mean, and it's really. It's stacked when you look. I mean, there's. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I can't imagine.
[01:27:22] Speaker C: Sure.
[01:27:22] Speaker A: It will be. It's just like. You look at it just like. All right, so between the two of them, there's like one healthy person per each team.
[01:27:31] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:27:32] Speaker A: Basically put like Kenny's knees for Tadahashi and his stomach. And then somebody who's like, oh, yeah.
[01:27:41] Speaker B: If we could take all the good parts and make one function over Frankenstein. A guy together out of the parts of them that are injured.
[01:27:47] Speaker A: Exactly.
[01:27:50] Speaker B: And he would be carrying cross.
[01:27:53] Speaker A: No. Now you get into the hill.
Oh, man.
[01:28:02] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. So after that, we go to our main event of the night.
I'm trying to move past that one as quick as I could.
I feel bad.
No, it was a bad one.
Yeah. We have the. A trios championship match between the Ops and Los Fascion. The England.
[01:28:20] Speaker C: Was it for the belts. I thought it was just a match.
[01:28:24] Speaker B: Oh, was it? I thought it was title match. Oh, okay. Yeah.
[01:28:28] Speaker A: I think they were just out for revenge because they kept beating up Shabbat.
[01:28:31] Speaker B: I think you're right. Yeah. Yeah. Now that you mentioned. I don't remember it. I guess it was just an assumed thing on my point. But it's also the return of Samoa Joe after being taken out at all in. And also apparently fracturing his ankle while filming Twisted Metal as Sweet Tooth. Oh, my gosh.
Yeah.
[01:28:50] Speaker A: The show keeps haunting me.
[01:28:52] Speaker B: It couldn't have been that bad if. I mean, he came back, but yeah, he's.
[01:28:56] Speaker A: I'm not gonna watch it. I refuse to watch it.
[01:28:59] Speaker B: It's good. It's a genuinely great show.
[01:29:02] Speaker A: I'm just going to be stubborn. I'm being stubborn at this.
[01:29:04] Speaker B: I was watching it before we recorded this. I just watched the two news from Barry plays Calyp in it and he's amazing. Like, it is very calypso.
[01:29:18] Speaker D: I loved the games and I just. I don't think I can handle Will Arnett's voice coming out of Samoa Joo's body.
[01:29:26] Speaker B: Get used to it.
[01:29:27] Speaker D: I don't think I will say that.
[01:29:30] Speaker A: Something you get used to.
[01:29:32] Speaker B: I didn't like it at first, but I did.
[01:29:34] Speaker D: Jeff, I don't want to get used to.
[01:29:36] Speaker C: You get used to it. Like what, a lobotomy?
[01:29:38] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:29:40] Speaker A: Yeah. You get used to it. Like a broken ankle.
[01:29:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:29:43] Speaker A: And you're Kodo Ibushi.
[01:29:46] Speaker B: It helps. Joe really, like, sells everything. Like, he acts the hell out of stuff with his body.
[01:29:51] Speaker D: Yeah. Well, I've seen the guy dance.
[01:29:52] Speaker B: Yeah. Anthony Mackie's charming. Yeah.
[01:29:55] Speaker D: Yeah, that's true.
[01:29:55] Speaker A: Like, Anthony Mackie is charming.
[01:29:58] Speaker B: He's very funny. He is a very charming, funny man. And I highly recommend the show despite all weirdness.
[01:30:07] Speaker A: I'm. No, I'm being stubborn now.
[01:30:09] Speaker B: That's fine. No, I'll watch it for you.
[01:30:12] Speaker A: Thank you.
I would. Tell me about it.
[01:30:15] Speaker B: That's fair. I won't say another word.
[01:30:18] Speaker A: Every. Every week, Jeff's update on twisted metal.
[01:30:23] Speaker B: There's like one or there's like one or two more weeks. I'll stifle it.
[01:30:27] Speaker A: No, don't.
[01:30:28] Speaker B: It's fun.
Yeah. I mean, this was a very perfunctory match. It was short, it was quick. It was like. It felt like everybody got one little section to do a couple quick little spots about Shabbat. I got some good strikes on hops, hit a bunch of spine busters.
Joe was. Joe hit the big nc, did his leg spots. But it seemed like it was mostly just to be like, okay, Joe's back.
[01:30:55] Speaker C: Yeah. Yes, it was. We need a mid event.
You guys put them together.
[01:31:00] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:31:01] Speaker A: People were happy to see Joe.
[01:31:02] Speaker B: So, you know, it felt like the eight man was more the main event than this one.
[01:31:06] Speaker C: Yeah, kind of.
[01:31:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:31:08] Speaker B: I mean, this wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. But it just felt more like a second match on the card kind of thing. Like just a quick little.
[01:31:15] Speaker D: Well, also, all the matches tonight, kind of pretty hard in my opinion. Even the downer ones were it was a really goddamn good show.
[01:31:25] Speaker B: It wasn't a bad match on the show, really. I mean, even still, Cleavers Cope was fine.
[01:31:29] Speaker D: Oh, it was great. It was highlight.
[01:31:31] Speaker C: I know we haven't reached, quote, unquote, the end of the show quite yet.
[01:31:34] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[01:31:35] Speaker C: I think this was a really good show.
I don't think it was a great show.
[01:31:40] Speaker B: No, I got the same thing. I. I wrote that. It was very functional.
[01:31:43] Speaker A: This, to me, was a show that it was. You called the match perfunctory. I would call that episode the entire thing.
We have to get some stuff.
Yeah, let's.
[01:31:55] Speaker B: Let's just. Let's get through the last little bit of the show here.
[01:31:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:31:59] Speaker B: Because. Yeah, that's. There's not much after this.
[01:32:01] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:32:01] Speaker A: There was also just the fact that let's not hurt anybody else Yeah, I.
[01:32:06] Speaker B: Say, like, Joe Jurassico goes for a jump, some kind of dive or something. Joe snags him out of the air into the coquina, taps him out, quick win. Said good short match.
Felt like that was the end of the show. We kind of got like a Lord of the Rings thing where it felt like it was ending, but then it kind of cuts backstage to Hangman getting interviewed about MJF having to cash in the contract.
MJF jumps out, smashes Hangman into some car, says he hasn't seen anything yet, and that's the end of the show. Yeah.
[01:32:36] Speaker D: Yeah, I guess. I guess I'm just an easy mark because, like, I can.
[01:32:40] Speaker B: No, it was a good show.
[01:32:41] Speaker D: Well, I can see everything you're saying, but I was just like, oh, I don't know.
[01:32:46] Speaker B: Yeah. This is looking back at it through a analytical critical.
[01:32:49] Speaker D: Yeah, same thing.
[01:32:51] Speaker B: When I was watching it, I had a blast. I didn't at any point feel bored or anything. It's just not like. It's not Danielson Omega in New York. Like.
[01:32:59] Speaker D: Yeah.
I was also delirious from like moving the day before.
[01:33:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:33:03] Speaker D: Getting all this stuff into this fine new studio that we have.
[01:33:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:33:07] Speaker D: This episode in. Yeah.
[01:33:10] Speaker B: The Minions have finished.
[01:33:11] Speaker D: Yes. Well, for the most part, we.
[01:33:14] Speaker C: So we have to talk. We broke into the last studio and tied you up and.
Yeah, we didn't really pay any rent.
We're not gonna do that here either.
[01:33:28] Speaker A: No.
[01:33:29] Speaker C: So.
[01:33:29] Speaker D: Yeah, that's fine.
[01:33:30] Speaker B: Do you think I look like I got money?
[01:33:32] Speaker D: No, No, I. I don't got any fun. No. This is a co op. What are you talking about? Now we're.
[01:33:37] Speaker A: No, no, no, no. Nobody gets anything out of this. Like, we. Well, we take.
[01:33:42] Speaker B: Take.
[01:33:42] Speaker A: We take your stuff.
[01:33:46] Speaker B: I mean, I have been pulling an Earl Hebner and selling merch on the side of all of us.
The Wednesday night fake fight. Screw job.
[01:33:57] Speaker A: That's horseshit. I'm the one that has T shirts.
She's. She's got my post as T shirts.
[01:34:03] Speaker D: Yeah, I was gonna say, I got that.
[01:34:05] Speaker A: I know you've sold at least one.
[01:34:07] Speaker D: Yeah, to you.
[01:34:09] Speaker A: No, not me. Not to me.
[01:34:11] Speaker B: This podcast is just the same $20 getting passed around.
[01:34:14] Speaker A: Yeah, it really is.
[01:34:19] Speaker B: Folks. Patreon.com.
[01:34:23] Speaker D: Said everyone, a $20 time.
[01:34:25] Speaker B: One of these days, do us all.
[01:34:27] Speaker C: A favor and better yet, do yourself a favor and enjoy all the lovely, wonderful.
[01:34:32] Speaker D: There will be more content coming soon now that we're moved in for the most summer vacation.
[01:34:38] Speaker A: Yeah, listen to the stuff that'll get us canceled.
[01:34:41] Speaker B: Yep, we've kept the. We've kept the Torch of Flamed, and now we're gonna light the bonfire. That's. That was a pretty good metaphor. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:34:47] Speaker D: Well done.
[01:34:51] Speaker B: Any other final thoughts on the episode? Anyone has. I'll just, like I said, fun time, move stuff along. I'm looking forward to Forbidden Door.
[01:34:59] Speaker A: I'm looking forward to Hiroshi Tanahashi.
[01:35:02] Speaker C: You're telling me.
[01:35:04] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:35:05] Speaker B: Yeah. Stokely is the best Entertainer ever.
[01:35:08] Speaker C: Stokely vs. Tanahashi at the Tokyo Dome.
[01:35:10] Speaker A: I. I think they should say you New Japan, and do five more minutes of Shibata and Tanahashi at Forbidden Door just as a You.
[01:35:21] Speaker B: Suffer that partnership.
I mean, I'm surprised they're letting Ibushi work with, like, if they fell out, like, really hard, they even were like advertising Nobushi be on the New Japan show. Walker's play.
[01:35:34] Speaker A: Tanahashi and Ibushi were rivals and Tanahashi can do whatever he wants on his retirement tour. And.
[01:35:39] Speaker D: Yeah, yep, that's the rules.
[01:35:41] Speaker B: Through that, he's the president, Gabe.
[01:35:43] Speaker A: Kid will probably take liberties or some. I don't know.
[01:35:46] Speaker D: It's the Enoki rule.
[01:35:48] Speaker A: I don't really.
Whatever. It'll be fine. They'll be violent. Maybe Eddie Kingston will be there.
[01:35:56] Speaker B: We can hope and pray.
[01:35:57] Speaker D: That's a thing.
[01:35:58] Speaker B: He said he's not. He. Eddie said he's not going to. He says he's not ready.
[01:36:01] Speaker A: But he's a worker.
[01:36:04] Speaker D: He's a worker. He's working. Yeah.
[01:36:07] Speaker B: Eddie Kingston. Prayer circle.
[01:36:08] Speaker D: Yeah.
All right, folks. Well, thank you.
[01:36:13] Speaker B: I say, I think that sums it.
[01:36:14] Speaker D: All up for having me back. Welcome to the new.
I'm gonna ask you to clean up.
[01:36:21] Speaker B: I've marked all the corners already.
[01:36:22] Speaker D: Yeah, of course, you're mongoose, but could do clean up where I crashed stage there.
[01:36:28] Speaker A: And yeah, I ain't cleaning. What I will do is we're going to leave all Perkins takeout boxes in foyer.
[01:36:35] Speaker D: Ah, you know, that's fair. All right, well, I'm out of here.
[01:36:39] Speaker B: Okay, bye bye, everyone.
[01:36:41] Speaker A: Bye.
[01:37:08] Speaker D: Crash, bang boom Crash bang boom Crash. Oh, I fall down.
